I just had this issue. Had to buy a whole new driveshaft. If you know you need it then shop now because there is a huge shortage on driveshafts right now. Best advice.
Yep! My issue also. I have Max Care warranty so it’s $100. We’ll worth the $2400 I spent. I have over $10k in warranty claims as of this date for a total of $300 out of pocket expense.

Same issue. Not sure how long I’ve had the problem. I listen to my music really loud. I just so happen to have my brother in the car so the radio was off. I slowed down and I heard this flutter. Like when as a kid you put a stick or a playing card in your bicycle spoke to get that blah blah blah blah sound. Lol. Had it checked out. Center support baring was busted up. Decided to replace shaft to be on the safe side. $1500
My challenger is making a weird clicking noise. The only thing i've noticed is when I kinda pop the clutch in reverse it makes a noise. Then when turning to the right it clicks.
I'm thinking I might have this issue as well seeing as every now and then when accelerating from 2nd gear there's a clunking sound. I'm hoping she holds till taxes and plan to buy a 1 piece driveshaft upgrade to eliminate this issue in the future.
Same here 1808 for a new drive shaft. Thought it was a tire rod end. No sir much bigger problem. Dodge should be sued for the drive shaft. You will notice when it gets bad.

My 2016 challenger is now at the dealer for possibly the same problem.shure glad I purchased the max care 100 warranty. 12,300 miles. New rear-end put in at 6300 miles. I absolutely don't drive this car hard.
Funny how I absolutely beat it down every second chance I've got on top of full track days, multiple lapping sessions and drag races and manage to get 59980 miles out of the OE driveshaft!

I have the same problem right now on my 2016 SXT, so nice you had yours under warranty, I'm looking at the JXB center bearing support, better that than replace it with a part that's going to have the same issue in another 30k miles
Man the sound yours made in the beginning is exactly what mine sounds like 2015 with less than 75k miles, I was the first owner, just paid off now this so annoying
The shaft is about 1k usd with covid inflation plus cross Atlantic shipping....so about double on your side of the pound. Plus 500 in labour is about right.

Same problem at about 38K miles on a 2015 RT. If it's just the bearing, why would the whole driveshaft need to be replaced? And wouldn't a one-piece shaft fix this issue by eliminating the bearing altogether?
My 25k mile 2016 RT is at the dealership right now for its new driveshaft. So glad I purchased the Lifetime Max Care policy. Is there anything we can do as owners to prevent this? This seems to be quite early to me.
That is a good question, I have not heard anything. I seems it doesn't matter weather you baby it or beat on it...they fail at one point, I would consider them a high wear part.
Have a 2020 Spwb Charger. Im starting to wonder about the center bearing as Im getting a body shake when accelerating and braking. If in neutral while braking its smooth. Also have a slight whine. 27k miles. Fid you hahe to get the rear wheels of the ground to check?
@@HemiMike Glad I have a CPO warranty. Wheels are all balanced with brand new tires but it did it before that so it rules out a balance issue. Also the car did have a slight shake over 65 when new till now. That's slightly better after I dumped the crappy P Zeros. My 2015 was so smooth. Maybe it's a widebody issue.
@@HemiMike yeah 315s on all 4 corners. I put on expensive UHP sport touring tires to try and help. It did help with ride quality comfort as it took out the harshness over bumps.

They should be covering it since this is a progressive failure...mine started very slowly about 9 months prior. Ive probably drove 3000 miles with it before scheduling an appointment

Jus had this issue with a 2015 challenger sxt plus. I had the thumping in reverse noises but got the drive shaft replaced no issues now car even handles better
Mine has the thumping noise like in the first part of the video, took it to a dealer they replaced my strut tensioners didn’t make any difference. Let my mechanic friend look at it he said driveline, the carrier bearing is what goes out, took it to dealer and they replaced the whole driveline $1600! 97,000 miles, I think the first owner drove it really hard, they should last longer than that but it’s a two piece, Audi has the same issues around 140,000 miles with the 2 piece drive lines.
@@andrewtrowbridge can’t be for sure about the sound, literally sounds like a vibration or bearing going out in the rear end, like a humming sound when you’re at highways speeds. Crawl underneath the rear of the car and reach up to the driveline in between the exhaust and shove it forward and backward, if it moves back and forth the carrier bearing is shot and you need to replace the driveline asap

Oh wow i literally have my 2016 manual challenger rt in the shop right now for this exact problem and sound. Luckily it was covered by my 100k warranty. They told me the bushing was completely missing. My issue started a week after hitting a speed bump too fast.
Take a appointment and tell them to check the driveshaft since its making some noise. It written black on white on the warranty book. Covered until 100k. Don't wait until next year. Do it now.

Well yes and no, at one point the drive shaft will break and depending on the situation it can be dangerous. I did drive for at least a 1000 miles before I found the problem and got it fix. Before sooner than later with this problem.
Mind didn’t make it past 20,000 miles the rubber for the center support carrier bearing went bad I put a carbon fiber Straight driveshaft in it a lot better

I’m going to have to check underneath my 2022 Charger Scat Pack, I’m at 2300 miles and my car developed this noise right after passing a car on a 2-lane road. Really disconcerting noise!
@@HemiMike problem for me, I’m currently on an island where my dealer is 223 miles away after a 12hr ferry ride (nearest Dodge dealer is 75.4 miles after said ferry ride). It might be less expensive for me to eat it and buy/install a new driveshaft on my own. Pretty dumb that these carrier bearings aren’t a serviceable item.
Dilemma! Since its still fairly new, I would plan the visit to the dealer....call them to check the availability of the drive shaft first...if you are sure try to convince them to be ready to swap it on your visit so you dont have to go twice...

Did you ever find out, what on driveshaft got ruined? My bearing was all torn up. Switch it out with the jxb carrier. Sound is way louder now. I was praying I saved the drive shaft in time.😢

You can get the center support bearing for 125-200$ online. No need to replace the whole driveshaft to get one unless you damaged the driveshaft too
Yup exact noise mine is making and you have to buy the whole drive shaft assembly for a hanger bearing..what a disgrace!!.

Mine was covered under the 5 yrs/100k and I had 99890kms.

Easy fix, JXB Carrier Bearing is what you need.
When did this became available!? Its the right part that needed replacement.

Since the revised shaft in 2015 it only comes complete. Cant get just the center bearing like before. The one piece carbon shaft is expensive..
This just happened to me. Driveshaft centering bearing. Just took it to a shop to have it replaced. $1600.

Same noise my 2015 srt 392 made, shaft went out at 35k miles. I would hear a squeak when I let off the clutch and the car started rolling

I beat mine every chance I get! 100k miles is quite surprising to be honest...most Hellcatswith this broken part dont get to 20k miles.

Similar experience, I beleive, im at 98,000. Was it a whirling sound at first and then it got worse? mine is a whirling sound.

Mine is doing the same thing… I just changed my brakes including the calipers and wheel bearings.
Dodge replaced the driveshaft and differencial since.

Well yes and no, at one point the drive shaft will break and depending on the situation it can be dangerous. I did drive for at least a 1000 miles before I found the problem and got it fix. Before sooner than later with this problem.
The rubber center support has torn loose from the driveshaft center support bearing, been there.
Once you discover this even if you replace it you'll never get your confidence in the brand new OEM, consider getting a one piece driveshaft.
5.7 hemi with 140k miles exactly has been making that noise in reverse for about 1 month now what a fucking shame my old Bessie 😞

I would start to check with tires and wheel balance
After you get a wheel alignment and tires balanced and it doesn't fix the issue check the drive shaft or cv axle. It's probably one or the other.
