- Street Justice has been a thorn in the side of Maeve for years. Maeve is an excellent champion design who is fun to play as and against - unless Street Justice is in the picture. Even though it's not meta, this talent is one of the most frustrating to fight in the entire game, and people have been begging for it to be removed for years. But now, we've finally found a suitable replacement for Street Justice in the form of a returning talent in the Truly Talented game mode - Artful Dodger!
This talent allows Maeve to cleanse crowd control effects & heal more when using nine lives, letting her break free from powerful stuns that would otherwise keep her down. This talent requires fast reflexes and excellent cooldown management, but can be very powerful in the right hands! It's very strong yet situational, since you only need it when there are important hard CC effects to dodge. This talent ticks every box for good talent design, and is the best thing to replace Street Justice with!

Remove the added health bonus, allow it to cleanse caut as well and I agree that this would be a much better talent for modern paladins

I loved Artful Dodger back when it was still in the regular game. Sure it might not have been as good as Cat Burglar but it was so much fun having a "nope" button. Earlier when Makoa was super popular Artful Dodger bailed me out so many times it's not even funny. I feel like today it might be even better now that they nerfed CB and there's just so much cc in the game. Not to mention that being able to break out of Makoa's hook with a single button press is the biggest power move you could make

If the talent makes it back in the game, I would add some sort of nerf so it isn't completely bs for CC champs, like increasing Nine Lives cd by 6~10 secs whenever Meave cancels CC effects, but still keeping the usual cd if isn't the case.
the TALENT IS NOT op man it’s too much skill based, if you don’t have 100hours with Maeve you’ll never take advantage of this talent
I stopped playing Paladins and it's been so long that I didn't even know that some of the talents that are "coming back" now have even been removed from the game.
I had a talent idea where you could shoot and use pounce while in Prowl.
Or one where ponce doesn't collide with enemies (while maintaining the damage).
I don't know, I think there's better talent ideas than Street Justice.

if this also cleanses caut so you get the full heal effect then you could stack the cc reduction card with the bonus heal card and put yourself up to a 1200 heal as well. I think the other cards and builds are stronger but I wouldn't mind this as a more passive playstyle into a heavy cc comp that you could have on the back burner
and as a maeve player this finally gives me another deck to build, still havent built street justice since the other 2 are way more fun
my only problem with that is that it really shouldn't heal 800 since it already breaks cc and renews cooldowns, and it needs to be more easily read as being used like maybe a louder call out by maeve or a light up effect like how khan's battle shout is, that way the enemy can more viably try to play around and keep track of it
9 Lives already heals for 400 at base, Artful Dodger adds an extra 400.
if i remember correctly, when talents (legendary cards) were added this one also was able to cleanse caut, making it a easy 400 healing burst in old Paladins
Yep, it cleansed CC and debuffs (so it cleansed caut)
I remember that it was removed simply because it was very OP

If they replace SJ with this she’ll one loser her counters and be solely depndent on weapon dmg. Pounce doesnt do anything against high skill players, that’s why SJ is good pounce bxomes usefull. And its double tank meta and im a tank main but i love playing SJ maeve she’s one of the ways so you dont get clobbered by tanks like terminus or nando or khan. SJ should stay imo its a good talent requires good timing and helps maeve compete in the current meta
how tf are u playing this mode? My game always was dropped after max 3min
This talent is useless in the current paladins, also the talent is still bad, cc cleansing on 20s coldown ability that is linked to your other abilities isnt good design, vora, evie has that by default on a much lower coldown, i like the direction of street justice changing your play style from using your pounce as means of escape to a means of finishing kills and agressive usuage of pounce, but the execution of the talent is annoying, i would like a combination between rogue's gambit and street justice a talent that encourages agressive usuage of pounce and play style, and maybe we get a talent that gives maeve third jump and makes it so she doesn't cancel her run when you shoot mainting speed and mobility i think this would really be fun, cat burglar for pure dmg/ playstyle, rogue's Gambit for agressive pounce usage/ reset, and new street justice the mobility playstyle which is actually viable and underrated specially with the new items sixh as lethality

I'm SAYING. Dude if he played maeve more he would understand the struggle to get the tanks or anyone else low enough to execute them.
Most flanks have abilities to kill tanks (andro headshots, vora percentage damage, etc.). This helps balance teams with weak damage. Taking away a damage-dealing tool from Maeve with her pitiful 800dps, in the current meta of dominance of items that increase health, I think is wrong and inappropriate. The talent is great but just make it so nine lives no longer reset your cd ( that way its more balanced ig )
I know it looks real fun but i dont like it. The fact that it can counter so many abilities and ultimate's seems a little too strong and ya it a 20 second cooldown but whats that matter. You also said its skillful but from the way it looks it seems pretty easy. A monkey could probably pull it off after a few hrs of practice.
It takes practice to pull it of, and you have to balance whether you maximize the reset, heal or cleanse. Not the hardest talent in the world to use but definitely skill expressive
@@raystimphil8280 Ok so i went in game and played it and its actually so easy. you can dodge or block pretty much anything and its even more forgiving with the timing than evies iceblock. It makes is so that Maeve can do whatever she wants and doesnt really have to respect characters with CC reminds me of voras Q but a little worst. And i still dont like it.

He still does tons of damage so not really. A champion doesn't need to be a hard counter to another champion to not be defenseless.
Idk about this one chief, Maeve is already kinda annoying to fight at times. Making her more annoying doesn't seem like a great idea to me. Maybe if the ability was harder to time it'd be ok, because the way it is now, it's not hard at all to time it right to get the cc cleanse. It's not like ying ult where you have to like, actually think about it. You just wait until you see yourself being affected by cc and then immediately just mash nine lives lol.

It's exactly like cleansing cc with ying ult wdym. Only difference would be Maeve doesn't get the one second of cc immunity after using nine lives, it just cleanses once on use. Which makes it less powerful than ying ult cc immunity actually. Street justice is much more annoying to deal with and much less skillful.

This talent replacing street justice is a horrible idea. Why should makoa be punished for hitting a potentially good hook by a single button press? Just one cancer to another.
I wouldn't mind street justice being replaced by this, as a tank main, I just HATE maeve so much because of this talent, no matter what, I like double tank because i know the pain of tanking alone and this one talent just hates me for it, if it costs me to lose some CC ults, i'm fine with it

@@kusolp544 it's far from being good, it's just bad compared to her other talents, you are losing damage from not using Cat burglar or rogue's gambit being able to snowball, and an execute is just boring compared at the talent showcased in this video
@@puppetandfriends1476 gambit is pretty meh actually. If ur not picking street justices against 2tanks or more/tanky enemy ur basicly trolling. Cat burglar is great if they got a more squishy backline.
It's so annoying tbh that she gets a "Oh you're dead" move on a basically 0 second cd. It's let ult but better

And as for playing ranked all the reasons you mentioned are the reasons I stick to casual I am the player in that description.

Queen of knives would be a better talent to replace street justice with because artful dodger is on a 20 seconed cooldown and most maeve players use it to reset there abilities meaning they would have to hold of on using 9 lives in case theyget stunned, so if they went this talent they would be sarcaficing a lot of maeves movement with is arguably her greatest strength
Honestly, it is the fact that people use the ability for combos that makes it much more interesting, as it gives players the dilemma of using it for a dive and combo, or save it in case of a tricky situation. Of course with choices also come mistakes and regret, but that's part of any engaging scenario

Okay I know street justice is annoying to play against but maeve as a flank is someone that finishes people off when their low. Maeve doesnt do that much damage now thanks to the Cat Burglar nerfs and street justice is the only counterplay she has to double tank meta, ESPECIALLY with armor plating and veteran in the mix. Plus if your team isn't doing any damage at all then the talent is useless.
And freaking double supports, will literally make your life as low DPS main hell

I think this talent has the same problem as street justice because the problem with street justice is that u can’t hit your shots so u just execute.Its the same with this,you mess up and aren’t positioned properly and get hooked and u just pop the ability and it prevents u from being killed. 6:35 I agree that people fighting against need to be more skilful but I think it reduces skill for the Maeve

I main meave and have used streetjustice mainly to deal with where there are 2-3 tanks
It has potential to be too strong for good players bc u need timing but on the other hand u lose your trumph for escaping or a double burst combo

I've been playing Paladins for four years, 1.5k hours, and I don't play ranked. I've played it before but haven't touched it in over a year. I don't play training siege (other than those three matches recently), but I can understand why that statistic is the way it is. Training is Trials: EZ Mode but ranked is Paladins: No Fun Mode.
Its already 29 and server issue on EU hasnt been fixed, well done hirez

Artful Dodger was a talent in the beta times. I used it alot to counter zhin ults. Though alot of people say it was dumb and they removed it. It was very fun and I dont mind it replacing street justice with it.
It is still dumb, Andrew chicken isn't exactly who I would call for talent/ balance changes, he doesn't know what most characters lack or need, only exceptions being bk and Evie that's it

Yeah I feel like people are shitting on street justice a bit too much, it is a niece talent that work specifically to counter tank comps and slow moving targets with lack of movement ability, but I personally never had problems dealing with street justice because using that pounce to execute is quite the risk.

I 1000% agree with this. Especially if they replace street justice and never revert the cat burglar nerfs. Street Justice is maeves only counterplay against double tank comps and since Mr. Paladins love the 2 tank meta he hates this playstyle.

Personally, I don't think someone who plays Maeve this badly should have an opinion about which Maeve talent should be replaced. the Pounce talent should be combined with this one cause it would be the only talent that greatly benefits from this playstyle.
You might hate on SJ but its really only a threat to super tank combos and most other characters do way more damage than SJ can ever hope for in terms of %hp dps.
Edit: to further prove that this guy just hates on the SJ talent without considering how valuable it is against given comps, In this match, his daggers were doing 166 damage against a low health Inara. That is more than 75% damage reduction. So how would you finish off such a kill with such low damage?
Anyways, it pays not to talk out of emotions and from a logical perspective. Used to be a big fan of his content but of late he just keeps pushing dogwater ideals that are harmful to the progression of the game.
100% I can only take anything from Andrew if it's regarding BK or maybe Evie, certainly not Maeve or any other character
