I feel that, in order to succeed on webtoons, your story has to be in these three categories. Romance, Comedy and Slice of life, if your story is more Shonen or Action pack, you're going to struggle...a lot.
SP Mask It's probably because those genres are an easy read and they are also fairly simple to draw. Action pack genre require tons of movement to make sense which can get pretty confusing for the readers if you're not skilled enough.
i disagree fantasy is actually a very popular genre on webtoons which shonen fits into
YukiZiven UnOrdinary as well, but that webtoon is god damn complex

As a Discover creator on Webtoon myself, I'm going to just throw out there that is a great opportunity for anyone doing a PG rated or 4 panel gag comic. On the other hand, due to the ad rev's policies, anyone who does a more serious comic that's more on the mature side, like most other things, you will not be eligible for this or find much help in funding ... : / and Webtoons is very difficult to get in contact with ... Still a great opportunity for many though. Just no longer helpful to more mature graphic novel type comics, unfortunately.

@@LostTimeMemory. It depends on the amount of views, I assume! But webtoon gets 50% of the ad revenue, so you don't receive the total amount.

Alex Xavier The Webtoon Short Story Contest starts on April 30th and runs until June 30th. You have to make a complete story within 3-5 episodes in the heartfelt or mind bending category. There is $15,000 in prizes.

Wow that sounds awesome! I'm really glad that they're paying creators to do what they love! I won't be entering it but I plan on making a web comic series within the next few years. I'm planning everything ahead of time to make sure I make a high quality story. Originally I was making it for fun and my own pleasure because I really want to tell a good story but I never knew you get payed for it! Now I'm even more motivated!

Do the artist get anything for the readers using the fast pass on their comics?
Hi webtoon, I’m the creator of canvas and please don’t be late to pay beta credits and ads for creators. Many creators pay rent with that credit. So many creators use that as a main income. Please do something. And enough with your favoritsm please. It’s hard to get on 5 top rank these days because of that. It’s always the same comics and you make it hard to independently reach the top.

Anstfn yes you must have patreon to get paid for the ads rev. Beta credit is only an event, it will end last month of this year. Ads revenue will always continue running (like ads in youtube). Just like youtube, you must have certain number of subs and pageview to get the ads rev
Another You How do you actually get the money ? Like do they have any terms and conditions other than the monthly page views and subscribers? I need help

I am Extremely sorry that I am not sure myself. I did do some research and now I'm confused. Some they don't pay for as views and even if they pay, it's only $1 per 1000 views 😢, but cost per click pays much more. Although you do get $100 for 40,000 page view using adsense and patron, meaning 1000 people reading your comics as you have 40 panels in each episodes. I know the pay is quite low for the soul sucking work, but it's good to start somewhere! There Are other ways to make extra money and the popularity definitely helps! Ask me if you need to know anything else. I spend a lot of time doing research.
@@sharminrima5667 as a professional that's highway robbery. Keep in perspective. Furries will charge each other 60$ per page on the low end for pretty amateur work. And someone will pay it. This revenue sharing policy is kind of predatory if you ask me. You're better off starting a patreon, or doing commission work until you have a large enough community to finance your comic.
Also the editorial strictness for what's considered ad worthy is completely unreasonable. It makes the comics code authority look like a triple x rating. It's gross.

Can you make subsciption amount to 200 or more, I'm really having trouble with keeping up with all my favorite discover series, cause I don't get notified when some updates.
There are so many discover comics that deserves ti be noticed but can't because of the subsription limit. They'll have to think of what comic to unsubscribe to.
I understand if the company won't do it, cause of their own reason.
I have multiple accounts for webtoon so I can keep with more comics, but it gets tiring and I eventually just gave up on some other discover xonics

Approximately how much does ad revenue pay per page view? Like what is a good lowball estimate?
Still wish I could find an artist who has an a fairly pretty anime artstyle, is willing to take a risk with someone who has only found minor successes in the fanfiction community, a willingness to have profits be split 52/48(the artist gets the 52), and doesn’t have an idea for a story which is where the actual collab starts... that’s a 1/9,000,000 chance of happening, knowing my luck

iridesticide it mostly revolves around Zodiac signs and constellations, it’s a pretty complex story where there’s a plot twist that the character you’ve been following is not the true main character, there’s rebellion, there’s death, breaking free from being captive for years, Giant space bears, and some lgbtq+ stuff

Mushroom Elm really? Where I live you can have a bank account once you’re 13 but you’ll have partial ownership until 17 or 18 in order to access your parents would need your signature tho so it’s mostly yours.
If you take a look at the link in the description, you'll see that the policy requires the creators to be over the age of 18 and have a registered patreon account (cries in im 14)

I personally think you need to be more than 14 or 13 i will start a webtoon on 1/2/2020 it's called "difficult to handle" i still didn't upload Yet not even the pic it's just a pic of bts taetae fake love
their minimum age req is 14. i'd advise rather than risking getting banned from the platform, ask her to wait three years. during those three years she can also hone her drawing and storytelling skills more, as well as develop her story to be more fleshed out! that way when shes finally 14 she'll be a lot more ready to publish. :-) (might get leisure too, since she probably already made some pages/chapters and all she has to do is upload, lol.)

@@fernandochavez8806 you can do that but since you're a minor you can't get the money directly from webtoon itself most of the work has to be done by your parent or guardian unless you're living in a country that allows minors to be doing contracts

BUT the problem is that it said I could find the ‘AD SHARING’ tab under ‘MY WEBTOON’ if I publish one or more series on my WEBTOON account. And I didn't find the tab there. Where is it and how I join it?
Do I have to get 1000 subscribers and 40,000 viewers first, then the tab will show up? Or I have to create Patron ID to make the tab show up (but I prefer PayPal ID). Please let me know and thank you.

@@Camicaturas I didnt understand this so well either but i think it has to do with US monthly system. There are countries with different monthly systems, so they use the US as a base. In the "Term of Use" we can found the following conditions to join the ad revenue sharing program: "In furtherance of the foregoing, you represent to us that you are at least 18 years of age or of legal age or capacity to form a binding contract under the laws of the country in which you are resident or from which you intend to access and/or use the Services. We may terminate your participation in the Program if it comes to our attention that you are under 18 years old and/or not of legal age or capacity to form a binding contract under the laws of the country in which you are resident or from which you intend to access and/or use the Services." To me it seems that it is not limited to the US. Like I said above, a lot of creators are from other countries, especially South Korea.

Then just post it? To get paid you already new a minimum amount of subs and views so tons of people do it for free, and even if you get paid its usually not a lot unless your one of the top artists
