    I had the most fun with this song when it came out! All my friends who were pop or country music fans were like “that song is so beautiful, I want to hear more of their songs!” I was wringing my hands - if only I could have seen every one of their faces when they next played Down with the Sickness……

    I was in 8th grade when the original came out in 1964, The country was still recovering from JFK being assassinated. Civil Rights and Viet Nam were starting to become part of the daily routine. The turmoil that marked the 60s was in the early stages. Simon and Garfunkel's version was kind of a gentle caution to the country that change was needed and it was on the horizon. Disturbed version has nothin' gentle about the warning it's relaying to us all. Given David was sick as a dog this night makes ya wonder how in the heck did he pull this stunner off.

    I've always loved this song....But I am a 'lyric' person & this performance just demands you 'listen' It gave me chills the words are so meaningful. David nearly cancelled this performance due to a very heavy cold & a temp. But thank goodness he didn't. Just such a special performance. Love your channel. Guy Sebastian has a new hit out now called "Antidote' featuring Sam Fisher. it's another song with lyrics to wrap around your heart. ruclips.net/video/TrNC9PjpWz0/видео.html

      I believe that both were totally amazing, but I agree… for me, the official video hits more, but the live has a different, possibly more intimate feel to it. The video has a stronger presentation of the message of the song, but the live gives a closer look into the artist in my opinion. Hope that makes sense

    This performance is so far superior to the video. It's real, raw, authentic, naked, beautiful. To me, the video was gimmicky and bled my attention away from the music. This song is genius songwriting by Simon and doesn't need visual assistance. His voice although he was ill, captured what great music always achieves, in drawing you in, and keeping your brain hostage to its brilliance.

    We often forget the words and how powerfull they are especially in todays world .
    Where the voices of the people are often drowned out by political rhetoric and grand standing . . . AND the plight of our people can be overlooked by those govts giving their citizens money to other countrys .
    Fix home first . .

Listen for it, and you'll feel it in his voice.. it adds so much.. how ever it reminds me of a story of my brother in law who was hospitalized after an nasty auto accident where he shed about 30 extra pounds of wieght.. everyone complimented him about how much better he looked.. his only comment was that he did not recommend the crash diet... had to share..! • @MrsRealistic
      @MrsRealistic  4 месяца назад

      Thank you! I have videos where I'll stop if it's something really in the moment that I have to comment on... but I've also started to just enjoy the music as much as I can in the moment. I was watching something the other day and the lady said if you hate pausing, this isn't the channel for you...I get it... some people pause a lot... but then she paused about 5 times within the first 10 seconds. And I've found that it doesn't seem to matter how many times you pause, copyright claims happen no matter what. Anyone who says they have to pause every 10 seconds in order to get away with the claims is incorrect. It's totally up to the Copyright owner whether the dispute we do on that claim is released... and only a few artists actually do that. Such is the life of a reaction channel 🤷‍♀️😉

    I can find meaning in both the studio version/official video and this, too. Because I agree that the imagery used in the official clip has some striking power. Then with this live rendition, all of the players performing their excellent parts are visible. And no matter what it is still a very heavy and dramatic cover.
