Rudie is Jamaican slang for rude Boys(gangstas)
This was recorded in the late 70's / early 80's when race relations in the UK were at an all time low. That was countered by the arrival of two-tone bands like the Specials, that were formed by both black and white musicians. In the middle of the 3 singers is Terry Hall, who lad a long and varied career in the industry, only to sadly pass away just before christmas 22 aged 63.
not just "like" the specials, but by the specials, they were the foundation of two tone
@@bigfrankfraser1391 along with selector and others. wasn't a one band thing.
You caught the ska spirit, great reaction. 😎🔥☮💚
This British band were known for their lyrics on the social commentary of the time.
This is a cover. The original is by Dandy Livingstone
Classic!!!
Specials and madness are great bands to dive into if you like this vibe
RIP to Terry Hall. This was the music of my youth. BTW, the original was recorded by Dandy Livingston in Jamaica, and Rico Rodrigues (the trombone) played on the original.
Yooooo!!! You gotta do their song Ghost Town. I bet you’ll be like, “Whaaaa?? I’ve heard this in a movie…” cause it’s been in A LOT of movies.
I can think of others but Shaun of the dead always comes to mind 😊
I freaking love Ska!!!!
Hey bro. This was my first time hearing this shit. And imma be honest I’m a rudy rn. Just got out for the first time. And I felt like I was being targeted. But I hear the message. And I’m determined to adhere to it.
Also song recommendation. Eagles - Desperado. Much love bro. I hope you got that Coast Contra freestyle breakdown coming too.
Think we've all been Rudy at some point. Best of luck for the future bro
Fyi, this is a cover of a 1967 song by Dundy Livingston
Rudy isn't a specific person, as in a person's name. It's slang, short for "Rude Bwoy," as in bad man, gun man, thug, gangster. So, basically the song is "A message to (all gang bangers)." It's also a cover of a 1967 Ska song. And of course Ska was created and developed in Jamaica. The trumbonist on this song featured in the video is legendary, Jamaican Ska trombonist Rico Rodriguez who learned to play the trombone when he was at The Alpha Boys School in Downtown Kingston.
correction, rico was cuban and grew up in jamaica, so he is the cuban born trombonist
Rudy isnt a person Rudie is Jamaican, gangsta
Rico Rodriguez on trombone, Dick Cuthel on Trumpet
Rudy is for Rude Boy, Jamaican term for bad guy...
Two-Tone Ska isnt just a music style... its DAMNED near a religion! 💯😎 I have more checkerboards in my house than a chess museum. 💯
Thanks, Sceez! harmonica.. and ska! These guys were so awesome.. hope you hear some more!
These guys got together in Coventry I thought they were magic. sadly Terry Hall died last year you should feature Ghost Town I’m sure that song could also reflect the US at the time.
harmonica at start, Two tone Movement was post Punk with Jamaican Ska.Came out of Coventry in the late sesventies, Great time sB lac k and white making gfret music and the audiances to match. ruclips.net/video/u9GnGMQz22A/видео.html
The guy in the grey suit is Neville Staples and started out as the band's roadie before getting on stage dancing, toasting and singing.
Lmao Rudy was going to jail!
They’re talking about the rude boy.
These guys ruled my world in the early 80’s. Nothing like it!
No trombone solos since!
Rude Boys!
Do "Ghost Town" by them next! It's poppin'!
The three guys singing lead, later spun off from the Specials forming a band called "Fun Boy three" which again is well worth checking out.
Lots of people saying 'Ghost Town', and it is a great track but may I suggest 'Gangsters'? Terry Hall RIP.
Rudy = Rude Boy
You know before there was reggae...there was ska.... Bob Marley Mr brown... whoa
SKA, came from Jamaica in the 60's, made its way to the UK in the 80's and hit the States in the 2000's...
I played in a band back in the Early 90s and our drummer and Lead guitarist were formerly in a band called The Modsters. Ska hit the States way before the 2000s.
@calescapee9642 ...not popular though...its more a Jamaican British genre...
This ska music two tune way like bad manners English beat and madness great music
Awesome
Ska reggae rules❤
It’s Two Tone
Every ska band worships this song. I think it’s mandatory for a ska band to cover it.
If you like the Specials, you'll love Madness, a super upbeat ska band from England. One Step Beyond is a great morning vibe. House of Fun is a blast, too.
Fun song to drink to! Day drankin!
Gangsters!
Ska Ska Ska, Jamaica Ska
Love seeing people find Ska.
☮️💙💙💙🔥😎
Ska music specials madness bad manners the beat all great bands
5 second in and already interrupting listen first comment AFTER silly man
Long live SKA and Northern Soul...
London in the 80's. Youth club, cider and weed.
Yo man react to gary allan songs about rain it's a BANGER and man to man also by the same artist it's a really good one they're both country songs you won't regret it
Gary Allan awesome country artist sad tragic life which pretty much dim the lights on his career😞
When’s the last time you heard a trombone solo?
Ska two tone punk uk in late seventies riots football hooligans skin heads fantastic days
Lol Rudy is short fir Rude boy a mode, style....in the 70's
Play on words too..."Rudy" is short for Rude boy.
this is called ska if you don't know.
Besides all the cool music ska bands were a lot of times multi-racial .. if that's something you can say anymore.. diverse? The beat etc. Also wtf happened to having a horn section? SKA FOR LIFE!
Stop trying to be so hard, open your mind and heart.
He is! Did you not watch the video? He is grooving to the music and listening to the lyrics. Stop being unnecessarily negative
Sorry bro, but you don't deserve the Specials. It's for those who truly appreciate great music.
