I wish I had enough money for both. The switch lite would be my dedicated handheld system. And the switch would be for handheld with friends and for my tv
The switch lite is a secondary console, it’s nice to have if you already have a more powerful gaming console at home. Playing single player games and ports on the lite is definitely nice. I have a PC but I just wanted to experience the nintendo library, so I bought a switch lite. Plus, it gives off big nostalgia vibes that the older handhelds provided when I was younger.
Well now I have both lite and regular switch so I guess I love both of them but I prefer for my regular switch because it’s bigger screen and I can dock it on tv and take it to go as well
red crimson102 yes it does it has everything the screen looks crisp on Switch lite and much lighter than the regular switch I am already loving my Switch lite more than my regular now because the controller it feels more comfortable on your hand than the regular and it’s not as heavy as the regular switch
Switch lite is perfect if you: 1. Only want to play handheld. 2. Don't own a TV. 3. Already have a Switch and want to use it as a secondary Switch for on the go. And / or 4. Love Nintendo so much that you just want to buy any system they release.
The problem with your 3rd point is you have to transfer save data back and forth between consoles. I don't understand why they couldn't have made cloud saves active on 2 consoles you own and just update to the server after you finish playing.
I'm getting the coral (pink) Switch Lite for Christmas this year with two Pokemon games and this one Digimon game I found interesting. Can't play until Christmas, but so far only one of the Pokemon games isn't here yet. Arrives this week. I'm also getting the flip cover. Something I've been wondering is how the save data works. Does it set up some data for each game upon the first save (for each game), how much space does a single save take up, etc. Can you clear this up for me? I just don't want to be forced to delete my progress. Never had to with my New 2DS XL. I'm not going for the online subscription seeing I've never cared for it. Paying Nintendo on top of your internet provider has never been my thing.
The reason I'm considering getting a Switch Lite is because there are only about 3 Switch exclusive games (Animal Crossing NH, Link's Awakening and the BOTW sequel) I want to play (and also Skyrim so I can play that on the go). I do like the idea of being able to play on a TV but I'm not sure if I want to buy a more expensive Switch for only 4 games that I want to get for sure...
BlueberryCupcape I’m in the same boat. There are only a handful of Switch games that I want to play right now (Luigi’s Mansion 3, BOTW, Odyssey), so I’m leaning a little more towards the Lite. I’d also like something to play exclusively while I’m at work, other than my 3DS. Edit: I know LM 3 isn’t out yet, but I’m a big fan of that series. Currently playing Dark Moon and loving it. That game is the the main reason why I want a Switch
There's a 3rd reason (though whether it's worth it or not probably depends on your disposable income). The full size Switch, while technically "portable", is frankly just a little too big to be comfortable to use as a handheld, and it's always felt slightly...unstable? Not really sure what word to use, but it's slightly creaky and flexible, and the size plus the fact that the joy-cons aren't completely fused to the body makes it feel a little janky to hold. And it's a little unwieldy, you really need to be gripping it with both hands to support it. The smaller size of the Switch Lite means it's now MUCH easier to just hold onto with one hand, which is helpful since reaching the D-pad or directional keys on the left side of the Switch is difficult to do while also keeping a grip on the machine with your left hand. And it just feels much more solid and steady thanks to being one solid piece of plastic. Also if you travel frequently, it's easier to fit into whatever bag/backpack you're using. Again, whether it's worth spending the extra $200 for all that if you already have a regular Switch depends on your budget and how much you actually play it handheld, but it's definitely a valid reason to consider one.
I have a Xbox One X and am 100% planning on getting a PS5, so as a kid its unreasonable to also get a 450CAD switch and its 90 cad with tax games the same year. Picking up a switch lite and some games off Craigslist for 400 in total is a much better proposition, and selling when you’re done playing the interesting single player games (Zelda botw, animal crossing, Pokemon etc)
Have the OG Switch already and bought the Lite version today. And in the time I've played with it before I charged it, I love it. And for people that are going to say to me 'oh but why did you get the Lite when you've already got the Switch', simple. Because I don't like using the normal Switch when I take it on the go. For my home console, I'll use the normal Switch. Otherwise I'll use the Lite. And no I couldn't give a crap about HD Rumble or the removal of the dock either. I mean yes I have games that do take advantage of HD rumble (Super Mario Odyssey), but I'll leave those games for the normal Switch, and just use the Lite for all the others. Also the Lite will be easier for me to play while laying on my bed or somewhere like that, and just solely use my normal Switch in Tabletop mode on a stand (no not the kickstand)
My reasons for buying a lite were so I can take it with me on the go and leave my regular Switch docked at home, the d-pad and more comfort when sitting on the couch or in bed and play it as a handheld console. Only thing I don’t like about it is lack of rumble, though it’s a minor quibble for me. I don’t need tv output since my wife and I already have regular Switch consoles.
Same, but I gave my first switch to my brother in law as the second one I got the LE Go Eevee plus my switch lite is turquoise as I feel the yellow one for me is more of a distracting color for me .
I honestly don’t see the point/need to switch out joycons and put in on the dock for the tv, I guess I’m just more of a hand held guy, at least for Nintendo 🤙🏻
People miss the biggest reason all the time. You bought a switch, you have 2+ kids, but they play completely different games (boy/girl). Why do we need 3 or 4 consoles for a road trip or a 45 minute car ride? We don't. We need them to stop fighting about who uses the switch and who has use the 2ds or 3ds instead. The lite solves this problem in spades.
If you are new to the Nintendo handheld console it would be a decent choice to get this lite version considering it has NES, and SNES titles as well. Especially for those who have not, and want to play the older titles it is accessable with online connectivity. Plus that proper d-pad will control smoothly.
@@MaduInfinity D-pad is nice but it's not perfect for fighting games (too small, easy misinputs with diagonal moves). Also no light sensor. For me smaller factor is a plus but not for this price. Switch is too expensive. My original Switch is still in good condition so I can wait.
You clearly know what you want. Nice to have people like you here. I actually have both models and can only hope that in the near future, there will be a Pro version. Well, very typical of Nintendo to introduce many versions of their handheld or hybrid units.
My biggest reason to get a switch is that its much more portable than the regular switch and actually fits into my pocket without sticking out of the top. And it doesnt have flimsy joycons that can get bent in my pants when i bend over. Because if you have tight pants you can flex the joycons attached to the switch and bend the metal mounts they attach too and this causes your joycons to wobble back and forth a little bit over time.
because it's a home console, not a handheld according to Wikipedia. Strange that a home console doesn't display on a television, but since Switch Lite is a Switch, and Switch only replaces the failed Wii U (a home console), and not the 3DS, thus it's a home console, not a handheld, so is your friend that stupid to compare a home console to a handheld?
c'mon. On the tube I see people listening to music using £350 wireless earphone via £1000+ iphones, while at the same time checking the time to see if their late for work using £400 apple watches. A switch lite on the tube is by no means crazy
I got the new blue one and haven’t touched my oled in weeks😭 it’s so much more comfortable and transport friendly which is dumb to say bc the switch is also portable
hi I want to buy Nintendo switch lite for my son I don't no anything about Nintendo's gaming anything like that does it have built in games or do I need to buy them all separate ? I want to buy as a present thankyou
Doesn't come with built in games, but you can download some free games from the eShop. Also some games required a Nintendo online subscription to play with others online.
@@nataliemcmahon7590 To add to what Jimmy said... If you do end up getting the Nintendo online account it will include access to a good number of old Super Nintendo or Nintendo games. My kids actually enjoy playing those just as much makes me wonder why I paid $60 for a new game. Sigh
I get headaches looking at larger displays (such as TVs). I imagine the Joy-Cons jiggle a bit on the console, which would drive me mad. I don't really play multiplayer, just game by myself, not even online. The deal-breaker's the lack of Switch games I'm interested in...
but Switch Lite is also a home console- that's what Wikipedia calls it, because they say it's a Switch, and Switch is just a home console, not a handheld, so your comment is stupid, you bought a home console, because you have enough home consoles? Then why did you buy another home console??
@@pika62221 you did a Wikipedia search on the Switch Lite to reply to my comment Its clearly it's a portable you don't have to play it at home because no dock and the original was a hybrid console it was either or also Wikipedia isn't a reliable source so who's really the stupid person
Jude Law switch lite is not a home console. home console probably means you can plug it into the tv, switch can, but the lite can’t. the only reason why the lite is considered as a home console because it’s still part of the switch series, but in reality it isn’t
Things like kickstands, docks, and joy-cons aren’t things you really need to play most games, especially if you love hand held, the other stuff is just extra
@@sofia7293 it has slightly higher clock speeds I think so games theoretically run better but it also uses a higher resolution in some games so that kinda negates it. I never noticed a difference when I played on it anyway but that's just me
why would you want a bigger screen on the regular switch ? The ratio of battery life/size/practicality really goes out the window once you start moving the slider on size too much.
Oled screen with none of that screen glass bezel, and maybe a better louder set of speakers, or 4 speakers with better sound seperation would also be nice.

I have a PC but I just wanted to experience the nintendo library, so I bought a switch lite. Plus, it gives off big nostalgia vibes that the older handhelds provided when I was younger.
Just ordered a Nintendo Switch Lite because I'm going insane because of quarantine.
Me too 😔
i think there’s a tv mode as you can buy a usb-c to hdmi or other port needed
tell me if i’m wrong
Life is short buy both!!!! U deserve it!!
Yeah not all of us are rich
I already have a xbox one and getting the ps5 next year so lite is fine.
A really good review! I think I'll be getting my switch lite tomorrow afternoon, along with Mario Kart 8 Del. and/or ACNH :)
I feel better holding and playing with the Switch Lite than the old one.
Well now I have both lite and regular switch so I guess I love both of them but I prefer for my regular switch because it’s bigger screen and I can dock it on tv and take it to go as well
How is the dpad for games? Is thr lite screen brighter and does the games look better on it?
red crimson102 yes it does it has everything the screen looks crisp on Switch lite and much lighter than the regular switch I am already loving my Switch lite more than my regular now because the controller it feels more comfortable on your hand than the regular and it’s not as heavy as the regular switch
Nice one and well said. I also own both models. The satisfaction is immeasurable. I love them.
Switch lite is perfect if you:
1. Only want to play handheld.
2. Don't own a TV.
3. Already have a Switch and want to use it as a secondary Switch for on the go.
And / or
4. Love Nintendo so much that you just want to buy any system they release.
The problem with your 3rd point is you have to transfer save data back and forth between consoles. I don't understand why they couldn't have made cloud saves active on 2 consoles you own and just update to the server after you finish playing.
I think the bigger switch is better, and worth the extra 100.
Saves never take up much memory wouldn't be worried about it
I got the switch lite I like it I am hoping for the bigger one to have a new design
That game is the the main reason why I want a Switch
but hey, atleast you wont have to worry about losing one of your joycons
I’m getting a Kindle Oasis instead :).
I don't have original switch nor version 2. And I NEVER play using TV. Portable is awesome!
I already have a normal Nintendo Switch and I love it both docking and portable, but I’m contemplating whether or not getting the Lite is worth it.
I have both just because. Who needs a really good reason? Not I.
So do I
I wish I could have both
when you could buy only one, which one you choose?
@@alexanderkoci252 I would go with the real Switch. Larger screen and more versatility.
Jason Hills & when i Will Play only handmode also ?
Also the Lite will be easier for me to play while laying on my bed or somewhere like that, and just solely use my normal Switch in Tabletop mode on a stand (no not the kickstand)
why wouldn't I miss the rumble??? I most definitely would, especially the HD rumble that the switch has, nobody had mention that before
So it's the same thing as a regular one is that you cant take of the handles or put it on a computer/TV? If it is then I'll totally buy one.
I was thinking about getting one!
I have 2 original Switches and just bought the yellow. I collect Nintendo consoles.
Same, but I gave my first switch to my brother in law as the second one I got the LE Go Eevee plus my switch lite is turquoise as I feel the yellow one for me is more of a distracting color for me .
The yellow one is really nice, I think my fav color of the selection.
I honestly don’t see the point/need to switch out joycons and put in on the dock for the tv, I guess I’m just more of a hand held guy, at least for Nintendo 🤙🏻
Myles HP multiplayer.
I got myself the Switch Lite, my kids get their own regular Switch. Win win in my book.
If you are new to the Nintendo handheld console it would be a decent choice to get this lite version considering it has NES, and SNES titles as well. Especially for those who have not, and want to play the older titles it is accessable with online connectivity. Plus that proper d-pad will control smoothly.
Yes, I miss vibrations. For me it's the only thing that hold me on from buying Switch Lite.
Yes, that is a down side to the Lite but it also comes with a traditional D-pad. Very nice to feel.
Loved this review, thank you! That’s what I needed. Been contemplating a Switch Lite for days!
I made up my mind, I am getting both my kids their own Nintendo switch lite ☺️
My biggest reason to get a switch is that its much more portable than the regular switch and actually fits into my pocket without sticking out of the top. And it doesnt have flimsy joycons that can get bent in my pants when i bend over. Because if you have tight pants you can flex the joycons attached to the switch and bend the metal mounts they attach too and this causes your joycons to wobble back and forth a little bit over time.
Me: "Hey, have you checked this?"
Friend: "Oooohhh! I didn't know Nintendo 3DS 2.0 came out!"
Me: "It's Nintendo Switch Lite, not 3DS."
Friend: "."
because it's a home console, not a handheld according to Wikipedia. Strange that a home console doesn't display on a television, but since Switch Lite is a Switch, and Switch only replaces the failed Wii U (a home console), and not the 3DS, thus it's a home console, not a handheld, so is your friend that stupid to compare a home console to a handheld?
Am not sure which one to buy the lite or the normal switch I had both before
using expensive electronics in the tube like that? are you crazy?
What do you mean so you say that using a iphone 7 in a train is crazy?
Syber-VHS I was thinking that tooo haha
I rather spend 100$ more for all features😹
Edit:Update my switch is arrive next week
Me2
Yep it all works for me, I own an X box one x and wanted a portable console
hi I want to buy Nintendo switch lite for my son I don't no anything about Nintendo's gaming anything like that does it have built in games or do I need to buy them all separate ? I want to buy as a present thankyou
The games come seperately
@@fraihananda thankyou for your help
Doesn't come with built in games, but you can download some free games from the eShop. Also some games required a Nintendo online subscription to play with others online.
@@jimmybravo3916 Thank you for your help
@@nataliemcmahon7590 To add to what Jimmy said... If you do end up getting the Nintendo online account it will include access to a good number of old Super Nintendo or Nintendo games.
My kids actually enjoy playing those just as much makes me wonder why I paid $60 for a new game. Sigh
ikr, i bought the old switch with only $20 more than lite.
And I really need the docking, to be precise need it so i can play together with my family
Just waiting for the switch xl
Or ongoing rumors of Switch Pro.
I'm looking into purchasing a switch or a switch lite so this video was very helpful.
I still love my Game boy
i would love to see on pro switch smaller bezels, OLED screen, Bluetooth 5.0, smaller docking station, and wifi 6.
Take my money now
@@LibertyFixxxer lol
Dreams!
I got a switch lite cos im broke I don't even have my own tv
I get headaches looking at larger displays (such as TVs). I imagine the Joy-Cons jiggle a bit on the console, which would drive me mad. I don't really play multiplayer, just game by myself, not even online.
The deal-breaker's the lack of Switch games I'm interested in...
I have enough home consoles so the Switch Lite is perfect for me
but Switch Lite is also a home console- that's what Wikipedia calls it, because they say it's a Switch, and Switch is just a home console, not a handheld, so your comment is stupid, you bought a home console, because you have enough home consoles?
Reason to buy a switch lite
1. I work at McDonald's
2. I used to own an original and literally never used it docked
Is there any point in docking? Does it give any advantage?
@@sofia7293 it has slightly higher clock speeds I think so games theoretically run better but it also uses a higher resolution in some games so that kinda negates it. I never noticed a difference when I played on it anyway but that's just me
why would you want a bigger screen on the regular switch ? The ratio of battery life/size/practicality really goes out the window once you start moving the slider on size too much.
still missing bluetooth connection to use on commute 😭
Oled screen with none of that screen glass bezel, and maybe a better louder set of speakers, or 4 speakers with better sound seperation would also be nice.
With the crappy quality of the controllers on the original Switch I'm got to wait at least a year .... At least with the original you can buy new controllers, when this one wears out for most people it's Landfill fodder ,,,,,,
Switch games are optimized for the regular switch. Meaning, the text becomes fatiguing to read on the lite variation.
i love it. gonna wait till end october to see some more reviews especially tear downs to see if the joycon drift issue was addressed but the biggest reason is coz im broke at the moment lol
Dude check out Walmart if you order it from the website there’s affirm you can do payments each month on it which is cool cause you have money for other stuff, you can do as low as 20 a month a little interest but the faster you pay it off the less they’ll charge you!
Miguel Serrato but u need a credit card ?
At least you admit you're broke. Most of these other people bagging on the analog stick are just broke and don't admit it. I've owned it for few hours now and so far so good. The sticks feel a bit tighter to me, too. I traded in OG Switch for it cause I'm broke, too
How u apply
I have the nintendo switch i play most docking. I also own the pokemon 2 dsxl and 3 dsxl.. what i really want is another switch...the lite im getting cus my family they already told me for my birthday next month I think is better u save money brain The walmart stuff may cost more . Saving money is good i still on iPhone 7 plus sometimes we like to follow the crowd
Thank for this awesome video! Really helped making my decision on which to buy clearer to make!
I love how older people say Maryoo
