I just traded my og switch for it. I absolutely love it. I actually like this more tbh. I'm always on the go and dont have time to always be on the tv mode. Its so lite weight as well. I would recommend it.

However its only 100 cheaper plus those extra features are very appealing to me. After I've got everything then I'll just make it the lite my travel/out door console when it goes on sale I'll play my favourite games or use it as extra storage then again I could just get more SD cards and possibly thinking about the PS5 in any case I do want a switch more.

@@adj6957 if multiplayer offline, then you will need seperate joycons which costs like 80 bucks not including the charging station. If online, then you can still use the lite as long as you have a Nintendo online subscription

I think what’s amazing to me about the switch lite is that it is essentially a home console turned portable. Granted the original was a hybrid home and handheld console, but the switch is the main console of Nintendo’s current line up and for years I’ve wanted a handheld console that wasn’t stuck with either watered down versions of home console games or exclusives to that specific console. To me it’s almost the equivalent of of Sony announcing a handheld ps4 that used the exact same discs as the original at 2/3 the price. Some see this as a downgrade from the original switch, but I see it as an upgrade to Nintendo’s handhelds a true merger of handhelds and home consoles. For once players don’t have to choose between portability and quality games. Of course the same things could be said for the OG switch, but this is still the first time a dedicated handheld plays the same games as the company’s home console.

Switch lite made total sense to me when I first heard about it. I had wanted to play some console exclusive games as well as some smaller games (stardew valley ftw) in portable mode, but already had the much more powerful PS4 for bigger games on TV. So I thought why not. And I don't regret it!

If you don't mind it only being in handheld mode, the joycons not being detachable, and the screen being smaller, (though it's the same 720p resolution) then it might be good for you, it also more portable and durable, you can use wireless controllers with it too.

I almost exclusively play in handheld and when my launch switch died, i got the lite and I gotta say, i am not disappointed with the console
I had the regular switch for like a day and wasn’t a huge fan and bought a PS4 instead but I recently got a Switch Lite as a birthday present and I really enjoy it it’s nice to have for when I’m not home or just not in the mood for consoles.

The screen is honestly SO durable. And the buttons, triggers, etc, is literally impossible to take off and break. So I mean this is honestly perfect to give to a child. If you drop it it’s 100% not gonna break lol.

Going through all these videos to learn about the Switch Lite, it feels like a lot of reviewers maybe missed the point? Like, the entire point of looking at the Lite (and it seems the reason they made it) is specifically because I’m specifically interested in mobile gaming and I don’t wanna lug around the weight and size of a dockable modular system if I’m *never* gonna use those functionalities. It doesn’t seem to be competition for the normal switch at all 🤷♂️

I don't think is fair to compare it with the 3DS and the Vita since those 2 are from a previous generation, obiously the Switch lite is going to crush them. It's like comparing a 3DS vs a PSP or a Vita vs a DS, in terms of hardware there's no comparison. I think the Switch lite is competing against itself, since currently there's no other portable console, the Vita is officially discontinued and the 3DS is at the end of it's life cycle and there are no new games for it, so the closest "competitor" is the regular Switch
But forking over 100$ gets you TV compatibility, tabletop mode and detachable joycons. It’s just hard to justify.
