Hopefully, this is the first of many in-depth conversations we’ll share in 2023. And we’re starting off with our new friends Frank and Mary Grace aboard HH55 Ticket To Ride. We spent a couple of weeks with them in the Tuamotus looking to gain some experience and insight regarding performance cruising.
They also started off in a great production catamaran and then moved on to a performance cat. Spending time with them felt like a peek into what our own journey may be like. And we wanted to know a lot more about that evolution.
Because there is no such thing as a perfect boat, but there are different boats for different types of sailors, for different types of cruising, and for different seasons of life. As a sailor evolves, so does their boat.
So, grab a beverage and settle in for an insightful conversation about the evolution of these sailors.
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
More about HH Catamarans and our HH44 : www.hhcatamarans.com/hh44-wynns
    Why Curiosity2
    Self-Reliance + Sustainability = Freedom
Self-Reliance: To rely on our own resources and limit our need for a marina or fuel dock.
Sustainability: Thinking about what we do today and how it will affect next week, next year, the next decade, and so on. It’s the recognition that we’re all part of a living system and that everything we do impacts the world around us.
In other words, we want to be out in the world living and exploring for as long as possible. Both in terms of not having to worry about our resources or our habitat disappearing.
    It's practical, not political.
This new HH44 is the continuation of that conversation and desire. This is not the ultimate, all-time perfect eco boat or zero-footprint anything. Not even close. It’s the best option that we could find working with viable, available solutions. It’s the type of innovation we want to support, encourage, and see way more of.
We're super stoked about getting into the world of Performance Cruising and hybrid electric sailing with our new HH44 catamaran. HH catamarans have a reputation for building the best luxury performance sailing catamarans in the world. And now this is a brand-new boat designed from the ground up with solar, hydrogeneration, and electric motoring in mind. Add in our rain capture system and we have the ability to be off the grid and explore incredibly remote and uninhabited areas for months and months at a time.

I discovered and started watching the Wynns back at 50k subscribers. With 524k subscribers now in a short time shows they are delivering on quality. Quality videography, stories, adventures and now super high quality boats. I think they are showing the future of adventure cruising.

Mary sums up the major benefit of performance @7’40” ‘the shorter the passages the more safer it is because the more weather you can avoid’. If you are a newer sailor don’t be afraid of performance or racing type boats. The reason race boats are that way is because it’s easier, safer and lighter not because it requires more skill. The bad habits you pick up from sailing an old heavy boat will put you back years. As an ex professional sailor I strongly advocate for modern performance boats for cruising. This boat is just the beginning of new safer, more fun explorer boats. Well done Wynns on giving this exposure.

I worked as a cave guide in southeast Alaska one summer and we had a dock at our work site; being a boat lover but from a landlocked area (yes technically you can sail the Mississippi, but it's a little different from the ocean) I was absolutely fascinated. A few of them welcomed us to come and see their homes, and honestly I think it would be a really wonderful way to experience Alaska!
