  • Most older houses used galvanized pipes and fittings. After decades of use, these pipes and fittings corrode and get very difficult to remove and replace. Here's a video on how to remove an old, corroded and jammed up galvanized nipple. I chose to replace it with a copper nipple and a compression fitting mainly because copper does not corrode and get jammed up. Thank you for watching!

You need to buy a couple of pipe wrenches . Not expensive . A 12 inch and a 16 inch. I’m a serious DIYer son of a plumber. Learned lots from father who is gone. You did good brother…

@@CactusNaga Worked like a charm. Took about 20 minutes! I just followed Rosie's steps. Didn't break a thing. These are 1962 galvanized pipes.

@@Eastbaypisces For me, PB Blaster worked. Still took a lot of effort but it worked. I let it sit overnite and sprayed a few more times.

r u sure that elbow was brass ? because if it was steel then you have copper touching steel now in your wall. why would not you use pipe dope on top of that teflon tape ? i would put another 1/2" male adapter and thread the angle stop not compress it. when you compress it you always guess ...did I turn enough ? maybe not ?

To each your own, Pablo. And yes, the fitting inside the wall was brass. Thanks for watching and commenting!
