Couple people mentioning higher exhaust temps COULD mean the cooler is doing a better job dissipating heat. The thing is, Sony removed a SIZABLE amount of the heatsink on this new model. With fewer fins and smaller heatpipes it simply isn't as efficient at moving the heat out of the console.
Think about it as if it were a PC. If I remove a large CPU heatsink in favor of a smaller one the exhaust coming off my system would be hotter as the overall system temps are higher since the weaker cooler can't cope. That's exactly what's going on here IMO.

Lol turns out the heatsink is making the only thing it cools run hotter. The cpu/gpu runs 4-5c hotter. The metal plate has Punch outs that stick out further to cool the vrm and memory better. It does directly explain the higher exit temps because the heatsink is hotter because the part its cooling is hotter. Maybe you should admit you were wrong.

I would disagree with the way he test the temperature but other than that, almost all of it I agree. But going out of your way to send death threat and doxxing someone it’s just going overboard. PS5 is not a thing to screw each other over, it would make sense if it’s for food resources because it’s important to survive, but you don’t need PS5 to survive.

The new revision has more fins on the heat pipes and longer heat pipes than the launch version.
@@madmax2069 Yeah but removing the copper plates that conducted heat into the panels of the PS5 means it now has less passive cooling so it's more heat the fan has to deal with in a confined way. There's no way 1 or 2 heat pipes can make up for a copper slug that goes along a decent 30% of the frame of the system. There's a reason the new one is cheaper to make.

1-Some people are still taking the info inside the video seriously
2-The info inside the video isn't based on scientific testing
3-Scientific testing was done proving that the 2 versions of the ps5 have the same performance thermally and gaming wise, you can check the videos made by digital foundry and gamers nexus.

Actually it's better when the exhaust shows higher degrees, because that means that more hot air is being thrusted out.
I believe if they would check the temps of the board , it will be the close or similar to eachother
Or, it simply means that the fan/ vent is saturated by all the hot air inside the console, without being able to move it out efficiently (it reached its peak performance).
Each fan is rated by its capacity to move air, and once you reach that capacity than it is time to add another one, or to improve cooling system in different way.
Removing significant chunk of a heatsink from an enclosed environment, such as ps5 is, without adding/ improving air circulation is a poor design/ cash grabber decision. Simple as that.

For a guy that runs an ENTIRE channel on tech...fails to realize that SSDs and all components of a CPU/console do tolerance tests....and the max temp of an SSD is about 70* C or 32 *F to 158 *F, seriously. I'm old. I'm not a gamer. I had a 87 Honda Accord. Pop up head lights. After 4-5 years the wiring to each headlight broke like bending a paper clip. I ended up splicing about 6 inches of wiring into each connection. They sold 1,400,000 of them. If they had a 1 foot more wire that's 1,400,000 feet of wire. Honda saved 265 miles of wire.
Hotter heatsink doesn't mean it's less efficient. It could very well mean it's pulling more heat from the dye.

All gaming consoles will produce heat when playing on a game that includes advanced graphics. That is normal. Even the original PS5 still got hot when playing those games. It’s all good. I trust Japanese engineering even more than US engineering.

@caleb weaver well this is the silver lining for me and my mum. we live in backwater hell and though we are renting to own ours we have the bigger heat sink >_< since we game alot those extra degrees will make a huge difference in longevity.

Yeah and I think the noise only affects it, cooling wise it's basically the same. It depends by region to what fan model you get with the original ps5, I think.

There are 6 types of ps5 fans that are designed differently and sound different and not just the fans a few more components are different like the ssd is developed by 3 Companies for ps5
EDIT: Most of the Coil Whine problems happend with NMB and Nidec fans while delta fans were having no problem accept a buzzing noise that happens to a Delta fan when the fan screw isnt tight enough

The most important component to keep cool is the APU.
That everything else runs a little hotter (delta 1-5) for the APU to run significantly cooler (delta 5-10) is a good thing.
That's called good engineering.
If the rest of my body runs hotter for my brain to stay cooler, I'm perfectly fine with it. I'd even call it a good adaptation.
Not every part is equally important to keep cool.
But, even if he was right, even if the components inside that mattered were running hotter, it was very _bold_ of him to claim the PS5 was categorically worse because the exhaust runs hotter.

Measuring the exhaust temperature just shows if anything that it’s better at cooling than the launch consoles. Higher exhaust temperatures would signify that the cooling is better and more efficient at extracting temps.
And less copper doesn’t mean less cooling.
