I have to play with the Quest a little more to render a final judgment but I just CAN'T get comfortable in it, I'm constantly reaching up to adjust the headset every 20-30 seconds. The "sweet spot" is kind of small so unless I completely tighten the straps so it's pressing hard against my face, anytime I look down the headset slips ever so slightly so the image becomes blurry. However, pressing it so hard against my face is so uncomfortable that I can't play for more than 5-10 minutes before giving up. May just be my head although I think it's pretty normal shaped but I've had problems with the Vive, the Rift too, but not to this extent...I just can't adjust the straps right to get a comfortable fit with a clear image. Most comfortable headset is my Oculus Go with VRCover, of course with that headset it needs to be comfortable since I mainly use it for watching movies/Hulu/RUclips.
All Scuba Mask style headsets are somewhat uncomfortable for me, but the key to making the Quest tolerable is to loosen the top strap until you can get it down low on the back of your head. The rubber side straps should run just above your ears like eyeglass frames. The Velcro on the top strap will fall down and re-grab while you're trying to pull the strap down so feed out a lot of slack first. Once you get the back strap down low, tighten it just enough so it keeps the mask from sliding down your face, then tighten the side straps. I would have gladly give Oculus another $100 if they used the halo style system like on the PSVR. PSVR just drops on your head and is comfortable in seconds, and stays comfortable for hours. I still love the Quest, but I hate the mounting system.
@@DylanGladstoneMusic Thanks so much I'll give your suggestions a try! Anything to make it more comfortable, because being un-tethered is truly a game changer for me....
A great interactive experience on the Quest is Bonfire. It's short, but it feels like being in a Pixar movie. The art style is a perfect fit for the Quest's capabilities, it looks beautiful without feeling like it's been ported down from a more powerful system.
12:45 It seems like the resolution goes down as you approach the edges of the displays in Sports Scramble. I think that's a pretty good way to go about optimizing your game.
Part of the reason eye tracking and foveated rendering are going to be so useful for the next round of headsets, especially on something like the Quest with lower processing power. Being able to focus the limited resources where they are actually needed would do wonders.
@@Thezuule1 I agree, but to make full advantage of foveated rendering, we need much better lenses with much wider sweet spots. IMO, you could straight-up just lower the resolution around the edges of the displays and get a good enough result with current day Fresnel lenses used on today's consumer HMDs.
Keep in mind that your touch controllers need to be in range of the 4 cameras to work perfectly. Moving outside of the range might affect the position of the sabers that you holding.
Darrok .Mark Yeah, but coming from the pc version it feels natural to just have your arms hanging on your sides and swing from there. Nice that there is a good refund policy so u can try of it works for you.
I use my VRDesktop on my Quest in my bedroom upstairs to interface with my desktop downstairs so I can remotely watch movies & listen to music from my hard drive library, which is hilarious because whoever can see my desktops monitor is wondering WTF is happening as movies suddenly fire up. They're muted by default while it streams to your headset, but if you disconnect from VRDesktop while in the middle of something, the audio on your comp will suddenly unmute and freak everyone out
@@minnow8045 I don't think so. Even though my tower is, and has the Desktop version of VRDesktop, the Streaming app is run in the background of your main comp without the Oculus client software. Self contained.

My Quest is coming on Monday and I am very excited. I have an old OSVR HDK 1.4 that I pretty much used for half an hour and never touched again. I really like the idea of an untethered device and I think that is one of the killer features. I hope that I'll have a good experience with it.
So you had what, a DK1 or DK2 then? Anywho, it's a HUGE leap forward - HUGE. I had a DK1, DK2 and the retail CV1, and just got the Quest, and it's fantastic. If you haven't used touch controllers and used the old beta stuff, pre-retail, you're in for a multi-generational leap.
@@rodmunch69 Yeah OSVR HDK 1.4 is pretty much what you would expect from DK2 (although it came out after CV1 if I remember correctly). Except that the tracking never worked properly and the software was really buggy. I know that people had some success using it with Steam VR, but it was fiddly to set up and at least for me never worked properly. Of course this was a development kit (I wanted to get into VR development, but I just never did) so I wasn't expecting something polished. But I still expected more. And yeah, this had no tracked controllers or anything. For me the biggest issues were the fact that it was really uncomfortable, I didn't get any immersion at all (or pretty much none) and the cables were annoying - with headphones and a gamepad and a power cable and a video cable running everywhere I just felt like a cyborg. So I am hoping for a much better experience here.
@@godzephose I love postal 2, DOOM and Mortal Kombat, however... In these games I'm using mouse and keyboard. Using my own hands to do all this stuff would be badass 👌
You guys should cover oculus side quest! I just recently downloaded it after trial and error and it was worth the effort. They have free hand tracking and developing games
for me it has been plenty of space, but i only have about 4 games loaded on currently. Many of the games are small, so i figure i can offload old stuff and make space for new stuff. just couldnt justify $100 for 64 more gb.
I have no problem letting something go as long as I can get it back later if I want. You have to make it work. Even 1TB wouldn't be enough if they allowed that because we'd be less choosy about what we put on the headset and have it loaded with tons of junk movies and apps.
Even if it isn't your purchases are saved and you can always reinstall titles you own. Rotating things while you wait for updates to your favorite titles isn't a big deal with strong internet.
I have the 64 gb and it seems like plenty of space especially when they add cloud saves soon. The game sizes are mostly small so if you build up a lot of games then you could redownload a game in a couple minutes or less. However, I don't plan to put videos on mine. Skybox supports playing off network drives where all my media is located and works great. I have 6 tb of network storage at my house. When traveling I guess I would be more limited. I wonder, since sideloading is possible, someone might create something that plays videos off an external HDD plugged into the headset?
Virtual Desktop is the number ONE app on the Oculus. I'm stil using the Go, but for my games I'm gonna buy the Quest and also the Quest Version of Virtual Desktop!
Every experience on the Quest should run quite smooth because it's a closed platform. Devs know exactly how much horsepower they have to work with. There's no excuse for poor performance.
That's true, but from closed systems I have seen (PC games that run directly from the computer or console games inside the console itself or other apps) in the past, sometimes your device just fails or underperforms. Of course, the problem with having a server-based system or whatever, means you run into many problems. I guess, there is no 'perfect' anyway, but a high-end closed system seems like a good thing. Personally, I only play/use consoles (home and handheld). Sometimes issues occur, but mostly, it's fine since as you noted, they know how much they have to work with.
Oh, while I have you here, what is the point of this £400 thing? Games don't look good, graphically, and I don't care for them in terms of gameplay. I don't really think VR is worth it yet (other than PS VR for one or two games if you can get it cheap or high-end PC VR). Of course, if I'm not mistaken, there are only a handful of good games for VR even on PC? It's more of an added device and very specialised, rather than a real gaming device due to the lack of freedom and library. I think VR will be unstoppable in the 2020s, though, on the PS5 and PC.
@@TheClassicWorld Generally speaking though an Xbox One is an Xbox One. A PS4 is a PS4. If you're coding for the platform you know exactly how much CPU/GPU you have to work with. If it runs like shit on your test bench it will run exactly as much like shit in the wild. This gives developers an edge when optimizing their code. Every Quest should run exactly as well as every other Quest. The fact the multitasking literally does not exist on the Oculus platform helps to ensure that as well. Whatever is running is all that is running just like a console. As far as what this is for, hopefully it's for everyone. I hope this is the next Nintendo Wii. The kind of thing even grandma has fun playing. It will never have GeForce 2080ti OC graphics but hopefully the experience of virtual reality becomes available to more and more people. Honestly I'm going to use mine for media consumption mostly just like I use my gear VR for. I work an overnight job with a lot of downtime. Being able to watch Netflix in my own personal movie theater, a movie theater I can throw in a laptop bag with my tablet, is something PCVR cannot offer me for any price.
@@Thezuule1 But, by, 'everybody', you really mean, 'nobody'. Not a very good gaming device. A PS4 or high-end PC is much better. It's like saying, iPhone apps are for everybody. Well, they are also mindless. Also, it will NOT be the next Nintendo Wii. That's the most insane thing I have ever heard. Absurdly unlikely it will reach even 10% of what the Wii did, in terms of sales and content. The Wii was groundbreaking and sold 102 million units, remember, making it the second best-selling home console of all time. And, it has like 1,500 games, some of which are some of the greatest games ever made. It also has exercise type content, such as Wii Fit and Wii Sports, and added elements, not to mention a GameCube inside and other apps. The Wii was loved by everybody and is a true gaming, multi-media, and universal device. This, on the other hand, is really only good for people that want VR without really getting VR (or don't wish to spend £1,000+ for a full rig). The only thing it has in common with the Wii is that the graphics are bad (which is not a good thing in this case) and it's easy to use/setup compared to high-end VR (a good thing, of course). Overall, though, it just seems like a waste for 500. That's a lot of money for a really low-end VR device, even if it is very well made. I am sure that in 2022 it will be 100% worth it, but not now.
@@Thezuule1 Also, you are correct about that. Then again, Netflix is not great and it's not something I want covering my eyes for such a high price. I assume you're talking about using VR for Netflix/films, right? Which seems strange to me, anyway. For £500, just buy the best and smallest laptop with a DVD player you can and watch films that way (or online service with every film ever made, more or less). Won't be the greatest thing in the world, but will be small and with all the content you want. Of course, Netflix is okay for some TV shows. I collect hardcopy TV shows and films, myself, but they do take up a lot of space (but, you can download them to the computer, of course). Another option would be the PSP/PS Vita/Switch. Great film content on them and they fit in your pocket for a small price (other than the Switch). They also play music and have many really great games on them and are better than VR, naturally.

Thank you anyone who responds, and have a wonderful day! 👌🏼😎
PCVR vs. Quest: Tiltbrush might be great on Quest, but there is a graphical downgrade. You will see more aliasing and blurring. Space Pirate Trainer also has a graphical downgrade but not worrying about the cord makes up for it. Superhot and Beat Saber look great and the gameplay is much better on Quest. Being able to re-center at the click of the button on Quest is awesome. Don't know why WMR (and perhaps Rift and Steam) don't have this option. Sports Scramble graphics, gameplay and sound are great. Robo Recall meh, big graphic downgrade and bullets and shooting don't feel the same.
As somebody who has the oculus go and still has a ton of games to play on it I won’t be getting the quest anytime soon jut for the minor number of exclusives. It just isn’t worth spending $400 just to grab a few exclusives. Once the library of exclusives becomes more expansive and the quest store gets going then I would consider it but at the moment there are MANY games on the quest store which are also on the go store and those games on the go store is a hell of a lot cheaper to boot. If somebody is reading this and doesn’t own an oculus go I would say go for the quest but if you already have a go I would say stick with that until the quest and its library of exclusives are more developed and expanded.
Thank you for the review! There are quite a few games I will check out now! While this title isn't for the Oculus Quest, the flight simulator game you mentioned reminded me of it. I recommend looking into IL-2 Sturmovik: Battle of Stalingrad , it is a great WWII flight combat simulator that works well on VR. (Beware though, it takes some getting used to to overcome the motion sickness)

I got it! I like the star wars game. Beat saver is really cool, and really enjoyed first contact. Just tried rec room not really sure what to do in it... kind of feels like a free-for-all.. lol
Most of these games have "Endured" (a clever term Norm strategically uses) I wish there was more to get excited about beyond being "teatherless". When or if Bigscreen incorporates a local media streamer that could become the killer app. For now, "good enough by far" (good one Jer) will have to do.
Great wrap up guys 👍 not quite there for me yet , maybe 3rd or 4th gen I'll be there. Love the look of Apollo. Still a bit cartoony, need to incorporate some 8k actual vid make it feel real...
Why don't game developers render arms and bodies? I played through Vader Immortal and the gloves look great, but they're hollow gloves and you can see inside them. Kind of breaks the illusion. I know they only have tracking for the hands, but it doesn't seem that complicated to fake at least the arms if not a whole body.

I really wasn't sure if I was going to pick up the quest, but dang I am glad I did. It really is freeing to not have a VR experience attach to my PC. I can throw this on anywhere and chill out with some games. I have had a few issues with Rodo Recall crashing a few times and loss of tracking of controllers here and there. But wow to have something this small but deliver a great VR experience is fantastic. I really want to get some friends over and try out Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes. Its a cool game where you can pass the headset around to play. I think it will be pretty awesome experience with friends.
Rec room hands down best game
I agreez
Profile checks out
Omg ikr
I’m very interested in getting the Quest but something tells me to wait for the next iteration of it
What did you do
The Quest is the most amazing piece of tech! Its so awesome! Glad I‘m there when it happened!
Hahahaha im the Pfinetik that killed you in paintball
Dead and buried 2 is underrated imo! It’s loads of fun!
I've been considering this, but is it really worth it over just playing paintball and laser tag (soon) in rec room? I've heard some people say it's pretty low content and variety. Also will need a sustained player base which rec room has no issues with.
Nicholas Yielding I mean it’s a little different but it is similar! I really like how it feels like unreal tournament, which Rec Room doesn’t really feel like. But I’ve spent so much time in Rec Room I can’t pretend it isn’t great either!
@@VREdward maybe I'll try it this weekend and if I don't like it I can always refund it :). I'm most excited for Pavlov coming soon though, since shooting games are way better imo when you have to actually reload the guns like RL. I love Pavlov and Contractors on PC.
Nicholas Yielding yeah looking forward to Pavlov. Dreadhalls just got announced too so that’s exciting as well
@@zarath7 It's heads and shoulders more fun - at least the death match mode.
Perfect timing I got mine today!
@theone Andonly Do you have one?
Rec room is absolutely fantastic and should be on every persons vr system
Eyyyyyy that’s me playing Rec Room!
That was a lot of fun!
Journey of the gods is epic on the quest. I wish my living room was bigger.
I feel like VRChat should've got a mention, it's 90% of my quest usage and VR in general.
We’ll be discussing VRChat in a future episode!
@@tested See you at the party Richter!
Could you guys try vridge on quest. It allows you to stream pc vr games to the quest
yep we'll be testing it soon!

Do you need a good pc for this cause if you do why not just get rift s cause it’s more advanced

Okay now my one question is do you need a very good laptop to stream it
Yup im picking up the quest 👌🏼😬
I'm getting it this christmas...

There is a total knee replacement surgery experience that's amazing
Can’t wait to get the quest for Christmas 🥳🥳🥳
Clearhawk8336 same it's gonna be so fun
AtomicForce06 yeah I’m getting it early
If I never again see that mirror effect used to fill the space that would be black bars around non wide screen video it will be too soon.
Love these videos. You guys are the best.
Awesome breakdown guys cant wait to get my quest !!
Nice work, but needs an update for games and accessories...perhaps future directions/ delivery times of Facebook/Oculus products and features. Please provide links if something comes up...Thanks! You guys are awesome!
Personally i recommend zero caliber it is a good shooting game that is super good in graphics and us sorta like call of duty
Somebody I forgot which RUclipsr showed exactly how to set up the quest so that's it's more comfortable to use
9:30 It's happening!!! Hanging out with people in vr, ready player one style
its been happening for years in vrchat
Dolphin xx69xx
VRchat was pretty meh though. Also I think you could play it on a flat screen too.

It seems like the resolution goes down as you approach the edges of the displays in Sports Scramble.
Seller for me is it can still be linked to a PC if you want a more powerful/ higher quality experience
Refunded beat saber yesterday. Tracking hat problem with my flamboyant swings. Desktop version gives me no problems.
As a quest begginer myself i really reccomend vader immortal, bought kt yesterday and it was the modt amazing 3 hours of my life
lol ultrawings website's isn't "oqplay.com"... but hey - you gave this guy a huge publicity! hehe
I use my VRDesktop on my Quest in my bedroom upstairs to interface with my desktop downstairs so I can remotely watch movies & listen to music from my hard drive library,
which is hilarious because whoever can see my desktops monitor is wondering WTF is happening as movies suddenly fire up. They're muted by default while it streams to your headset, but if you disconnect from VRDesktop while in the middle of something, the audio on your comp will suddenly unmute and freak everyone out
4c1dr3fl3x does your pc have to be vr ready for that
@@minnow8045 I don't think so. Even though my tower is, and has the Desktop version of VRDesktop, the Streaming app is run in the background of your main comp without the Oculus client software. Self contained.
Can you play rift s games on the quest, and if so how ?
The young Asian dude is like jazz!
VR chat better be free
It will
And it will always be free
vrchat is missing
Chayo vr chat is hot garbage
Cuz its trash
I cant wait for something like the oasis for ready player one
It's cool to have like a fully feelable experience where you can run without locomotion in one spot and more stuff
I want a GORN, and also blade and sorcery
Two of the games I need desperately. Nothing like some bloody violence making you feel like a badass to cool off after a stressful day. 👌
@@godzephose I love postal 2, DOOM and Mortal Kombat, however... In these games I'm using mouse and keyboard. Using my own hands to do all this stuff would be badass 👌
And thats why I got a rift S
Just use ALVR
You need a PC VR headset like Oculus Rift S for DOOM VFR
OrbusVR, the first VRMMORPG! It is way better than Beat Saber.
I wouldn't say it's the first. Vendetta Online runs on basically every platform known to human computing.
I started playing Reborn and am enjoying it.
@@JeremyWilliams1 I really think VR shines when playing in groups. I really hope more creators give us open worlds to game in together.
My Quest is coming today
And it’s amazing
I first played super hot on the original rift then I played it on the PC and I truly believe it is actually better in vr
Highly recommend Exorcist Legion too.
Rec room: We are the best of the community games!
VRChat: *Am I a joke to you?*
You guys should cover oculus side quest!
I just recently downloaded it after trial and error and it was worth the effort. They have free hand tracking and developing games
I want to have an oculus quest so much! But I unfortunately don't have the money...
Same
Now the quest has been released and full games, movies etc have been installed, is the 64GB enough space for you?
Very good question, that I surprisingly haven't seen anybody talk about yet.
for me it has been plenty of space, but i only have about 4 games loaded on currently.
Creed is incredible. Worth checking out.
I mean I would but I need to wait 3/4 montha
I have ordered a 128gb quest online and am receiving it Tuesday 5/28. I’m interested in fighting and shooting games such as super hot, blade and sorcery, and blood trail. I know some games available on rift aren’t available on quest, so please someone give me suggestions for badass fighting and shooter games. Thank you anyone who responds, and have a wonderful day! 👌🏼😎
You can play games from steam, you can install more games from that plataform
fabian muñoz
Cool thanks! I’ll check that out!
I honestly am amazing at learning games very quickly and get pretty good in a short amount of time, I can’t wait to play rec room
My favorite online vr is rec room & creed rise to glory 👌😎😎
Oculus Quest is the best VR. No PC needed and zero wires 👍
Amazing VR but NOT the best given it can't replace PCVR
All footages from the Quest, Great job! There are a lot of PCVR games throughout RUclips, so i couldn't check out the graphics.
I recently ordered a Quest so the hype is real for me
I am doing whatever I can to get money rn 😭😭😭
Well I hope you get a Quest eventually
Hey guys! I've got another question about bigscreen. I love it, but this question is to help out friends about to get the quest. I understand it would be simple to join a room, but if you're on quest, what's involved in mirroring a PC for your own room and control?
I know you to the job simulator footage from jse. Still liked and subscribed tho
THIS IS THE VIDEO IV BEEN WATING FOR
i am so excited my one comes tomorow
Great wrap up guys 👍 not quite there for me yet , maybe 3rd or 4th gen I'll be there. Love the look of Apollo. Still a bit cartoony, need to incorporate some 8k actual vid make it feel real...

Any chance google earth vr comes to the quest?
I hope so, it's my favourite app on the oculus.
I'll see where the library size is by the holidays and maybe I'll pick it up.
Wow great video guys, so well explained and extremely helpful.
Wait, yall said era buds? So i can use my blue tooth ear phones on this?
WackBeats nope no Bluetooth
Will the Quest support Google Stadia + Steam?
This video is actually helpful
So the Vader game isnt actually a game? Just bought my Quest today and was super psyched for a light saber wielding game
They do on Creed. I agree - much better to have arms and a body rather than floating hands
Hey guys, simple question about bigscreen. Can you watch DVDs from PC's drive?
You can just stream your screen straight to Bigscreen. Anything you can play you can play.
@@Thezuule1 Thanks a lot!
