  • The National Arts Club hosts a presentation on the "cosmetic queens" from author Elizabeth Kerri Mahon. Mahon tells the stories of the women entrepreneurs-such as Elizabeth Arden, Madame C.J. Walker, Harriet Hubbard Ayers, Estée Lauder, and the grande dame of them all Helena Rubinstein-who created the beauty business.

A great counterpoint to this is the conversation this week from the Met Museum. It's available on their RUclips channel: ruclips.net/video/40u8P37-reA/видео.html titled,
"Atelier with Alina Cho: Bethann Hardison, Naomi Campbell, and Iman." While they are/were fashion models, they discussed the lack of foundations available to fashion models of color.
There is a cosmetics museum in NYC. It opened in 2020. It's called the Make-up Museum. Here's the link from Time Out: www.timeout.com/newyork/news/the-worlds-first-ever-makeup-museum-is-now-open-in-nyc-090920.
