If only Winston sounded like this in last Parkway Drive album 😂
He will on there new album 😂 feat Marcus
My favorite from Obsidian ended up being Cypher. One of my fav night drive songs 👌
Such a banger
It's based around The Matrix if you listen to the lyrics on Cypher
My Favourite from Obsidian is the title track it’s grotesquely underrated and goes so hard
True
Fantastic song, hard agree
0:46 I'm so thankful I'm not the only one that randomly starts singing that chorus out of nowhere 😂
Clarity is definitely my favorite song from obsidian. When that breakdown hits, it hits.
Fun fact: Mirror's Edge is a 2008 video-game with groundbreaking parkour mechanics that changed the movement in games in general. The soundtrack of this game is a perfect and unique EDM which sounds incredible even after so many years. I'm glad they've done a reference to this game because earlier i've heard some small similarities of structure and maybe synths of OST that Solar Fields made for Mirror's Edge and the EDM side of the last album of Northlane (such songs as Cypher, breakdown of Dark Solitaire and so on), i mean hopefully it's not just a reference and we'll hear something similiar in upcoming EP but in the shape of Northlane because the last two songs sounded way too individual and original.
Also this is my favorite game of all time and i highly recommend you to play it if you like parkour, puzzles and futuristic setting in general (NOT Catalyst, but original 2008 game!)
Moreover, despite i dislike AI art in general, the EP cover kinda reminds of the abstract DLC maps of Mirror's Edge and it seems like it was actually inspired by some visual part of the game.
What's funny is that in 2023 i accidentally came across a stream where a guy played Mirror's Edge and looked exactly like Marcus Bridge. I instantly thought about the soundtrack of this game and that it would've been cool if Northlane took this type of dark sci-fi electronic direction for their sound but with some insane Djenting and here we're in 2024 with Northlane announcing their new EP that's called "Mirror's Edge", i was shocked lmao. Sometimes coincidences are just funny 😂
Maybe that guy really was Marcus😀
@@dailywisdom1995 Maybe 😂
I wish i could tell you who it was but i won't advertise anyone here, maybe only if you find my contacts so i could share, he looks exactly like Marcus, it's crazy lmao
Also my favorite game 🙌🏼 I wonder if I still have the world record on chapter 6 xbox 🧐. Also still have the 8 foot picture that's made up from like 20 smaller pictures somewhere packed away haha. That soundtrack is otherworldly. I'll never forget the first time in the Atrium, pure bliss. That said I find absolutely no similarities in this music to anything ME related.
@@AaronFacciolini Not all of their music for sure, maybe only few tracks on Obsidian which barely remind me of Solar Fields and maybe i poorly described my point. It was only my thought overall that it would've been great if they made something like this but with Djent, but seeing them announcing their next EP which is a "Mirror's Edge" was a funny coincidence and we still didn't hear the whole EP so maybe there will be something similiar or inspired with this, who knows 😄
Did Marcus played also Devil May Cry because of the first single?😅
I love that they just do what they want. “Weird” but amazing
actually 3 faves: Clockwork, Cypher, and Obsidian
ERRA + Northlane are two of my favorite bands, and the fact they're releasing new material just makes the year great already.
My favorite song from Obsidian is Xen, as soon as I heard it, it immediately became the anthem of my good mood
Man I’ve seen so many people miss a particular little detail in the song, and it’s that at 4:56, after they go back to back on verses, they both hit that “ Am I just a piece of your property?” Line, along with 5:03 “Constricted Nerves”. It sounds soooo good, with both of their voices combined. They delivered greatness with this song.
100%, the layered screams from Marcus and Winston hit so damn hard
@@Embersword281absolutely.
Clarity, don't know why, but it's kinda growing on me. Such a nice opener.
It’s a tossup between Abomination and Obsidian for me
Cypher, by far my fav. Perfect Matrix-vibe.
must love that band just keep pushing boundaries like there’s no limit to their creativity, and marcus being almost 10 years in the band yet still evolving and getting better, is just crazy and amazing at the same time. the heavier vibes from them also reminded me of invent animate single last week. idc what people would say about them especially when it comes to comparison, for me both marcus and bands will always be the goats 🐐
Absolutely loved it 🤯
Bro, the cut away to you singing along to Dante had me dying haha
Northlane keeps evolving into an indescribable genre. Totally I'm in for everything they release.
Please check out Superlove
Plenty was my favorite from Obsidian
Me too
Not sure why but, Echo Chamber just hit some part of my brain and I cannot get enough of that song. Vocals are A1
obsidian is a great album, my fav song , is the opening song, clarity
Plenty, clockwork, cypher and inamorata were the best tracks from obsidian IMO
At first my top pick was either Clockwork or Carbonized, both are just incredible tracks, and its really hard to pick one. Lately though, Obsidian has been on HEAVY rotation, the energy is unmatched, and my god the build to the breakdown *chefs kiss*. Kinda with it and dark solitaire were swapped on the album but what are ya gonna do. Can't wait for the EP!
bogdan singing dante for that split second made me very happy :)
echo chamber is easily my fav from obsidian, such an incredible hook and breakdown on that track
Fav song from Obsidian used to be Dark Solitaire, but it's Clarity nowadays. Great album in general!
So glad I clicked on this because Winston McCall is my goated vocalist 🤘🏻
I saw Northlane in 2012 at the Perth Soundwave metal music festival. It was a tiny spot vs say DragonForce or others, well before the main acts Slipknot etc took the main stage! I also had a dude from a band called 'Make them suffer' give me a sticker, I put it up at my workplace, it is a shitty screen printing shop in an overrat3d town called Freo... No idea if this was early in their careers but it is what it is.
This song is a banger. Looking forward to the EP... I can only assume it's based on the video game.
My favorite song from Obsidian is Plenty for sure, loved it since day 1
As of all time, my favorite Northlane songs would be in no specific order Animate, Soma, Plenty, 4D and Freefall
im one of the few who didnt like Obsidian album
@@justinalley3399 Fair imo, not their best album but I personally love it
Dark solitaire from obsidian.
Eclipse from alien
Favourite from obsidain is actually is this a test?
Just a real techno bop thaf just gets me going
SICK!!!... 🤘🏼
If someone doesn’t like obsidian they’re insane lol if they think it’s not up to par as alien then that’s fine I guess but obsidian is phenomenal! As for our first two singles of mirrors edge, I find myself so happy!
Everyone still playing catch up since Alien
Xen was my fav from Obsidian. New track is mint
Nova 100%. Top-1 not only from the respective album, but the entire NL catalogue. Dare i say, one of my favourite songs ever in general
Sleepless or Dark Solitaire are just hauntingly beautiful songs, they're my top 2 fav Northlane songs. I can't decide between the two.
The title track of Obsidian absolutely slapped
It felt like northlane showed how to do northlane for basically metal core genre creators who felt into dust by time... 😅
Cypher for me. That song is an all-timer.
The chorus of Dante is just something special to me. I can't get enough of that song.
I love parkway either way but we need heavy parkway back🥲🙏🏻
It's really difficult to pick just one. I'd say Cypher, Obsidian or Clockwork
Yooo new Elitist track is a banger! Saw it on Nik Nocturnal stream
🤘
Clockwork 🤟
0:46 me everyday😂
First it was carbonized too and then Cyprr grew on me a lot and I never stopped liking the vibe of it
Carbonized is my favorite as well
"F*cking Northlane man" - 4:37 is exactly my reaction to this song. Epic, probably my fav song right now from them.
Northlane just don’t miss. I’m beyond excited to hear the track with Ian Kenny. If you haven’t listened to Karnivool, you’re missing out. Another incredible Australian band.
Best song theyve done in awhile
Obsidian is still on heavy rotation for me. Cypher is a killer but I also really love title track Obsidian and Dark Solitare. "Im navigating paaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaain, im circiling the drain".
Xen is my favourite from obsidian 🔥 just fuels you with energy
Cypher is my favorite song from Obsidian
I rlly love obsidian, fav is hard to say but xen or plenty if I had to choose
Plenty
100% Carbonized. Modern Classic. Gives me HUGE Matrix vibes especially because of the music video
0:46 😂😭
Vinyl ✔ ✅
Carbonized is a fantastic song.
It makes me sad yet fills me with joy that Winston still got IT 🥲
My favorite song of Obsidian was probably Xen, i have listened to thst track so many time.
Xen is the only song i liked on Obsidian
Cypher is top tier.
Sounds like "Clockwork", but a heavy take. Still has to grow on me. Though, Winston's appearance is fantastic.
obsidian for me is my favorite song
Cypher
Favorite song from Obsidian is probably Cypher
I love this song, having Winston on it is crazy to me, because in my opinion, this is the best thing he's been a part of in about 10 years. Parkway Drive use to be my favorite band, but Ire and on I just can't stand personally, and feel like they have completely lost their vision and now just do "safe" music. Where as Northlane are trying new things and sound different too, but you can still see their vision, you still know it's them evolving, like thr devil wears Prada. Parkway just sounds like they lost their passion long ago.
Cypher and Obsidian were my favorites
Echo Chamber frpm Obsidian is my favorite
As a PWD apologist with them being my all time fav, even I know the last album was not good. I enjoyed 3 or 4 songs but even elements of those songs bothered me so hearing Winston roar with Northlane is such a welcomed moment. I like this song even more than his architects feature. I think this Northlane alumni will be great!
Cypher or Echo Chamber, cant pick one
bogdog :)
God damn, is this in Drop Z??!
Im with you on Carbonized being their best song off their last album. Didnt really like it though preferred Alien. Which my favorite dong on there was Bloodlines & Talking Heads
my top 3 from obsidian are carbonized, cypher, and, most underrated, inamorata
so many bangers on Obsidian, but id probably pick Cypher.
MY ASTHMA
Obsidian or Cypher
Probably Xen!
This song reminds me of Shokran
Any credit to black dahlia murder with the title
and it's only january 😭😭😭
australian metal scene is so good
Definitely Obsidian.
I'm partial to Clockwork from Obsidian
The worst northlane song
@@lachlangardner1690 Cool
Please react to the Novelists live Performance they posted yesterday, it’s phenomenal.
Is this DJENT
man, do you speak russian or ukranian? and where do you live right now? you are awesome, i really like your reaction and your singing is so sincere!
I speak both but Ukrainian is my first language, currently I live in Canada tho. Thank you for your kind words :)
Favorite Obsidian's track definitely Crabonized. For all those who say that Northlane have mellowed musically, I advise not to confuse the excellent quality of the musical productions of the new albums with that of the first albums; obviously the first ones sounded rougher, dirtier... this doesn't mean that they were heavier than their latest works, certainly with more electronic influences. Damn haters, I hate you all
Best Obsidian track for me is Plenty, but it absolutely would be the title track if it kept up momentum after the first chorus. The song is godly through the chorus, and then just kinda drops off.
Love that track, the riffs are fire!
I don't think Obsidian was controversial at all, I think Alien edges it but both their best work
I was thinking we were going to get a whole album or EP like Dante. I didn’t hate that song but thought it was just kinda meh. Pleasantly surprised by Miasma.
Damn, it's completely the opposite for me. There's a lot more emotion, direction, clarity and structure in Dante, Miasma feels overproduced to me, with so many effects across so many parts that it just feels incoherent imo. I think the silly little wobble effect on the sample of Winston's line is what sealed it for me, like "that does not sound good, does not fit into the song or lyrics sung and you made a conscious decision to put it there, what the hell". Still, all of this is just my opinion of course.
@@jakubgodlewski9104 I mean to be fair I think most modern “metalcore” feels over produced 😂
@@Jt7166 Fair enough, but you can have a good song that's polished by production and then you can have an amalgamation of effects and electronics with sampled vocals sprinkled in, which to me is Miasma. It can be good to some people for sure, but it's an electronic song with metalcore-inspired samples, instead of a metalcore song with electronic elements, in terms of overproduction anyway.
wish bands would only do eps for their first release. I always prefer albums
Yeah although unfortunately singles and EPs do a lot better in the current climate of the music industry
I will say, especially in heavier genres, a 10 song album sometimes feels stale by the end of it. Especially if the album is themed around a certain vibe or message. Modern metalcore is significantly better at it than deathcore or death metal, but even then, the last Currents album feels super repetitive by the end, sort of likewise when you listen to the combined Downer album by Ten56. And it's not to say the songs aren't good, just when you drop an entire album of similar songs, you might as well drop your best 3, because the rest will be ignored as more of the same. EPs work a little better, you can make 4-6 songs that all have different vibes.
@@jakubgodlewski9104 99% of the time I never feel that way about albums. With eps im always wanting more and its too short, albums are a perfect length for me
@@Jacksoncomplex i would honestly prefer albums with a ton of singles. Ive stopped listening to singles alltogether and just save them all for the album. Its a win win for the band and for me lol
I haven't understood the hype since Alien. Obsidian was okay but they just keep getting weirder and weirder
So long time follower and patron, curious to know why you find the riff in this song a bit repetitive, yet the riff AND vocals in clockwork is crazy repetitive and in my opinion way more boring? I’m not having a dig I’m just curious.
good point, i guess clockwork just flowed better for me, then again i havent properly listened to this one a bunch of times yet, maybe it get better hehe
Listening to the song: 😄
Seeing the AI artwork: 😒
So sick of bands having 0 respect for artists.
just me or vocals really low?
