BEFORE WASHING:
Wash your microfiber towels separately from all other fabrics.
Separate your microfiber towels. Polishing towels (compound, polish), super dirty towels (engine bay, wheels & tires) and cleaner towels (interior, paintwork, glass).
If the towels are very dirty, start with a pre-soak in a bucket. Add warm water and a bit of all purpose cleaner or Optimum Power Clean. Let them soak a few hours.
WASHER:
Use a gentle liquid detergent that is free or fabric softeners, bleach, dyes and scent. This way, you won’t get any residue coating the fibers. You can use microfiber specific detergents like Micro-Restore, or commonly available ones like Tide Free & Gentle or All Free & Clear. Never use powder detergents.
Select cold or warm temperatures, not hot. Normal cycle (more agitation and spinning helps to scrub off dirt and debris). If you have an extra rinse cycle, use it.
Add 1/2 cup of distilled white vinegar in the bleach port or fabric softener port of your washer. The vinegar will provide more cleaning power, giving the towels a softer feel and remove more stains.
DRYER:
Select no heat or lowest possible heat setting (air dry or tumble dry). Microfiber is a mix of polyester and polyamide, basically really fine plastics. Those fibers will melt (140F or 60C which is melting point of polyamide).
You can hang dry the towels, but they won’t feel as plush.
If you towels have a lot of lint, one trick is to dry them before washing them. This will remove the majority of the lint.
Note: Typically, the bleach tray feeds liquids straight into first wash cycle. The fabric softener tray feeds liquids into the final rinse cycle. If using Optimum Power Clean, dilute it 1:1 wit water, and then use half a cup in the bleach port.

Anyone know if I should wash a cloth after every use? Say I wipe a bedroom counter down should I put it into the machine after?

In Wholesale, you can buy 100 towels for 10$. Just buy new, than risk 1scratch. and you save 1hour of your time and electricity on washing 100 towels. Just buy new
Is this the same instructions for top loaders? Because you just pour your detergent and everything in the basin with the item your gonna wash
I don’t wash cars. I’m just a chick who obsessively cleans my home and gets freakishly excited when I find content about how to clean more efficiently. This video is awesome. I’ve been doing it wrong this whole time.
What are your fave cleaning channels on yt
@@JimiCanRead "clean my space", "diane in denmark", "fly lady"...
i like to clean efficiently as well. my problrm is that i haven't concieved a routine for the work i must do everyday. i never, ever finish what i planed to do because there is always some other emergency that requires attention... and i lose motivation and i am overwhelmed!! :( i have too many cats, dammit...
@@miragaiamaia8966 have you tried TOMM?? (The organised mom method). Not perfect, nothing is, so I don't aim for it, but has alliviated a lot of the overwhelm for me.
Obsessive cleaning is the best. I love the smell of bleach.
It is always beautiful to admit it!
As someone with a cleaning company, as well as a detailing company; this video is invaluable. Love your work mate
Thanks Billy!
I run my own car detailing company, and i always wash on 90 degrees Celsius. And i always use very hot when drying in the drying machine. And my towels are several years old, still looks and feel brand new. Keep in mind, when microfibre towels are colour dyed, they are so at 100 degrees Celsius. So no worries, wash them at high temperatures. Cold won't do anything good, just try washing buttery fingers in cold water. Nothing happens. But turn on hot water, and see what it does. Clean!
@@EHolm yes, housecleaning for years, I always wash with hottest temp and dry as well… my rags are still new looking.. I wash mine everyday as well…
Can it be made shorter though?
Can hot water really melt microfiber? I am skeptical about this.
There are detailers, and then there is Pan. Science and intelligence behind it all. Thank you man, seriously, for all that you do.
Thanks for the kind words man! Much appreciated.
Damn those are some advanced washer/dryers! Mine have like an on button. And a door.
LG washers are cool lol, also sings a song when its ready lol

@@yeahnoway111 yea my wife made me buy the LG washer and dryer. I wasn’t happy at first because of the price, but over a year later and I’m glad we went with LG. And I just wanted to reply so I could see it say @ass
I gotta use a washboard to wash them and a fan to dry them.
That’s all you need though right! All those other features are just more things to break ;)
You just got a fan for life! I've seen the detailing product vids, but this has to be my absolute favorite. Near and dear to my heart. I do pretty much every single thing you go over, from the wash settings (have a very similar LG machine) to ALL free & clear, and even the white distilled vinegar. @@PanTheOrganizer I discovered you with the "no touch wash". 🥇 Video
Once again, great video. I had been doing all this but hadn't pre-soaked in a degreaser. WOW! I had to change the soak water twice because this got so much gunk out of the towels. Thanks!
This is a lot of work. Professional detailers are worth every penny.
Thank you Pan! I was just saying to my partner last night that all of our microfibre towels are storing so much debris that they’re leaving hairs and fibres behind. This video just came up as recommended and now I know where we’re going wrong!! Life saver!
You are so welcome!
Great video Pan. An important thing to do as well, if your washing machine is shared for domestic duties, ensure that you thoroughly clean the fabric softener dispenser in the soap tray if any liquid softener has been in there, and run a quick empty wash cycle with no detergents before putting your towels in to remove any fabric softener residues. :-)
Thank you thank you thank you! This was exactly what I needed to know. I just bought my first brand new car and I bought a ton of detailing supplies to take proper care of it. Now I don't have to worry about how to clean all of my new microfibers!

Lol... I have a compulsive shopping problem when it comes to detailing solutions and tools.
Awesome video yet again Pan! The vinegar trick works magic and I’ve had to transfer my old microfiber stock to wheel and tire towels as I’ve been cooking them on high water temperature! It’s no wonder they weren’t working like new anymore. One trick I found that works really really well is to presoak microfiber and a light solution of dawn dishwashing soap then, rinse in them thoroughly prior to washing them in the machine. That takes all the chemical and grim off, and allows for the washing machine cycle to be more effective. Just have to rinse it very well as too much Dawn will create a very sudsy machine. Well done ! Love the Rag Company Twistress... An absolute A + towel and found it due to your awesome reviews!
Thanks for the kind words and feedback John! :)

Hi Pan great video as always, I have tried a few ways to clean my towels but I tried the way you explained in the video and it worked much better thanks for the great advice as always
Micro towels are great for household dirt dust and cleaning. I’ve been washing cold and air dry.
I’ve been really enjoying a double fused washcloth for face cleansing. One side linen, the other microfiber.
Works like this; linen to remove any cleanser, the microfiber side acts like a squeegee removing any traces of cleanser and exfoliates taking any and all remnants of dead skin cells snd debris. Same reason why air dry is best. They dry quickly naturally. Thanks

Hey Pan, great step by step as usual! It worked great for me, Thanks! As I had been away from detailing seriously for some time, microfiber towels are something new for me. I've watched all of your content on or relating to microfiber towels. The results in finish I've achieved using them is top notch. I will definitely be shopping with your links to build my stock up!

The tip about the heat was a good one. I simply did not know that. As always, I always learn something new from your videos.👍
I've washed my microfiber towels in hot water (and I keep my hot water very hot) many, many times and have not melted anything. The towels come out like new. I do that following the printed instructions that came with my Chemical Guys microfiber towels - those instructions specify HOT water, LOW heat in dryer and no fabric softener sheets.
I really appreciate how informative and thorough you are on everything!!

I have been using 7th Generation non toxic laundry pre treatment for stained MF cloths along with the Micro Restore. Seems to work good. I will put on low temp drying now.
So glad I watched this video. Just bought $50 worth of micro-fiber towels for the garage. I would've likely ruined them before watching this video. I just assumed you'd wash them the same way you wash any other towels. Thanks, and keep the great videos coming, Pan.

Nice vid Pan...thorough as usual. I have a suggestion. While there are tons of vids on MF care they all typically address the same stuff. Something i haven't seen anyone do, is one that ties in the MF towels to product-specific cleaning. With sooo many new products on the market with sio2 infused in them or super durable "sealants" where do they fall in the cleaning regime? Most know Ceramic used MF are to be discarded after application. A how-to video on care of all those MF used, say in your torture tests, or during a detail, etc like placing them in a bucket and then how to care for those would be awesome IMO. Like a refresher vid based on the amount of new products with sio2, or nano technology, etc etc. Keep up the great work!
Pan, thank you for this video! I was wondering about this the other day. Great job. Thanks again.

Made perfect sense! I can see some simple mistakes that I have made in washing, but now, good to go. Loved that we have the same LG washer/dryer
😁👍🏻
I have a dedicated washer/dryer for my detailing towels... when we did the addition and my wife got her 1st floor laundry room, I got the old washer and dryer in the basement. I also separate my microfibers into categories when I wash them and dry my microfibers on the delicates setting.
I soak the microfibers used in a 5 gallon pail with a water/APC solution to break down any compound/polish/wax/sealant on the towels. I have been using Persil laundry pods for washing.
Wash them only with other micro fiber rags. Don’t use any fabric softener or dryer sheets. . Wash on cold or warm with extra rinse and Dry on low heat.
Yes! :) Add add vinegar to the softner or bleach dispenser.
Say I have no light detergent
And I don’t want to use powerful detergent, can I just use no detergent and vinegar in the softener and bleach trays?
Thanks, video too long. Just get to the point.
Great tutorial. Learn something new everyday. Thanks Pan
Glad you enjoyed it!
SO happy that you demo'd this with my new washer/dryer model!
Thanks for watching!
Good one Pan. Very informative and good information on how to clean microfiber cloths. Good advice on using WARM at the most instead of HOT setting. Especially on newer washing machines that have built in heaters that super heat the water to a high temperature on HOT setting. My washer also has a "steam" function, but that too would be far too hot for microfiber cleaning. I usually use the WARM setting when cleaning most of my microfibers and have had good luck with that. There is also a soap company called "CHARLIES SOAP". It's roughly $25 a gallon but this stuff works FANTASTIC for cleaning microfiber cloths. It takes out staining and really gets the microfibers clean. It also has little to no scent and is a free and clear type of liquid soap. They have a powder version but I wouldn't recommend that for microfibers since they crystals may not fully disolve and then get into the fibers themselves and then have the possibility of scratching the surface you are working on later. Never use a powdered detergent on microfibers. Just about any liquid soap will work pretty well as long as it's a quality soap like Tide or similar. I've also had good luck using DREFT soap. It really gets out the stains. DREFT is also readily available at most stores but it's just a little pricier than other soaps. It's worth paying the extra amount.
Great tips Joe!
Joe, thank you very much for the tips and details. Regarding DREFT, I live in Jordan and we have here a big store that sells US products, so I went there to see if I can find Tide Free and Gentle but I found it only in pods form, is it OK to use? I also found DREFT PURE GENTLENESS in liquid form, is this the one you tried? Your answer will be much appreciated. Thank you
I use Charlie’s Soap in liquid form. I’m curious about dedicated microfiber cleaners, but Charlie’s works very well. I need to start drying on fluff, though.
Thank you Pan!
Now I have to buy all new towels. 😭

@@PanTheOrganizer Dear Pan, Thank you for the like. My husband details cars. He restores Porsches as a hobby. I just stated using them since they were in the garage and always handy. Now I love them. Your video is so helpful! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. It is appreciated.
Our last batch of MF Towels was a disaster. We were in a rush to make a car show and my husband mixed new white cotton shop towels (like wash cloths) with MFTs. There was white lint stuck on every single towel. Even when we did final wipe pain wipe down lint stuck to the car. Lol! It was funny! We did the best we but fear the MFTs are a lost cause.
The good news is now, thanks to your video, I know how to wash them going forward.
Thank you again!
Great tips. Especially the fabric softener one. Fabric softeners destory the fabric of not just the microfiber towels but also your clothes, they become more stretchy over time and less water absorbent which can cause your body sweat to just stay on your skin.
@Pan TheOrganizer, try this tip, it will amaze you. I AIR dry all my Microfiber towels. BUT before you hang them on a drying rack you MUST SNAP the towel. Best method is to simply grab the left corner and the right corner and do a hard quick snaping towel motion. I normally snap the towels straight down. I do EACH towel, rotate the towel 90degrees left, repeat. Do this for all 4 edges of the towel. Once these towels dry they will be 99% new and 10,000 times better then any simple hang dry or electric dryer. If you do this and agree, just give me a shout out for the tip! Trust me you will never dry your towels any other way once you do this. Just remeber to snap as hard as you can, the point is to SNAP those fibers loose from each other when they dry.!! Good luck!
Completely true! I do the same thorough snap and mine have never come out better. Super fluffy, absorbent, brilliantly bright and clean and ready for the next round of cleaning. As microfibre dries so quickly, I just peg them up on an airing rack and they're dry by the next morning. I wash mine in a long soak and wash cycle and my agency cleaner commented that I have the cleanest and best cloths of all her clients! [Previously, I left the cleaning to the helpers and they didn't clean the cloths properly, which resulted in dirt & grime just being smeared here and there - ugh!]
i love this method, thank you.

Still some questions, though;
- at 3:00 Where did you get that awesome poster with all the washing symbols?

And last but certainly not least: keep up the awesome work!!!

This is a great video! So informative, and it definitely set me straight w/ regard to the wash temp. Certain other videos out there contradict the prescribed temperature and totally disregard the heat sensitivity of microfiber towels. Thanks for making this!
Thanks for watching!
Good advice, Pan. Been using Old Dutch Hypoallergenic (dye/perfume free) for my towels and they've come out great. In your opinion, does a dedicated detergent like Micro Restore make a giant difference, or are regular detergents fine, as long as they're free of softeners and fragrances, etc?
All-free type detergents are ok, but I still prefer microfiber specific detergents when cleaning microfiber towels, they just seem to do a better job, hard to describe...
wow dude... just watched this in Walmart wondering what to do and you totally cleared everything up
Many blessings to you for sharing great information as always!
Thank you so much!
Been washing micros for 15yrs and always used hot water, never had a problem.
U cab wash in hot water just can't use heat to dry
Im sure the swirl marks in your cars says overwise
Correct.
It's weird to think I'm watching a tutorial on how to clean towels after I just watched a tutorial on the best way to get those towels dirty
LOL!
Two sides of the same coin.
Really great video Pan! It’s an oldie but a goldie. Thanks
Thanks Matt!
Pan, I just discovered you...wow I have a lot of Pan binge watching to do! Thank you so much for your excellent, informative, and practical videos, I'm hooked!
Thanks for the positive feedback! Glad to hear that. You discovered one of the biggest and fastest growing detailing channels on RUclips as we’re approaching 700,000 and 80 million views. I love sharing my knowledge of 24 years of detailing with you all and hopefully give you the detailing bug. :)
How did you discover my channel by the way?
@@PanTheOrganizer I've ordered my first new car in awhile (2021 Mustang Mach1) and while researching rinseless washing and other auto detailing tips, you popped up while searching RUclips:-) Wow detailing has changed over the years, most impressive...not only in the amount of product/gear available, but the extreme wealth of information out there! It's like a magician going on RUclips and giving away all his guarded secrets!
Living in the Pacific NW of Washington State near Puget Sound, I don't want any of my car wash mess to run into the water, so I've been focusing on ways to avoid that. We sadly don't even have a local power wash facility so I'm on my own! Anyways, thanks for the plethora of tips and keep them coming please! Cheers
Paaaaaan the washer! Good shit as always 👌🏼
LOL!!!!
This is the best I have seen on taking care of the MF towels in the washer. For a small load how many ounces or ml do you use of detergent
In Wholesale, you can buy 100 towels for 10$. Just buy new, than risk 1scratch. and you save 1hour of your time and electricity on washing 100 towels. Just buy new
@@simonci5177 where
@@sosababy6307 type in Google "microfiber cloth wholesale" Try eBay too
@@sosababy6307 prices maybe went up now because of new outbreak in china, they produce less now, but 3 months ago was loats Sellers for 10cent per cloth
@@simonci5177 Not all MF is created the same. If you are serious about detailing you learn pretty quick which towels work best for the various tasks and rarely do the budget brands make the cut. I have my favorite towels and can no longer find them online to replace so I'm pretty anal on how I wash them. Glad I found out now how sensitive they are to heat, I been lucky that I haven't ruined any towels in the dryer. Thanks Pan for that info.
Two days ago I watched your video on car glass cleaning (I purchased a 2022 Miata MX-5 in February and I can never get the windshield really clean!) I purchased microfiber towels today at the Auto shop and "was going" to wash them for the first time tomorrow. I would have used my regular detergent (Gain Flings) and I would have used a dryer sheet. After watching this "timely" video, I purchased microfiber detergent from Amazon which will be delivered Saturday so my new towels will have to wait until Saturday or Sunday for their first "proper" wash/dry. I hope following your glass cleaning video (well most of it) I finally get that Miata MX-5 windshield CLEAN. Thanks
I'm glad you are following my advice! :)
Hey, I have the same washer! Now I can follow the exact steps :D
Great!
Great tips, Pan, as always! What happens if you use just a couple of towels and don't have enough for a full wash? Do you soak them in some soapy water until you can do a wash or is it ok to let them dry? I know it depends on what product was used with them, but what are the general guidelines?
I wash my towels after each day regardless how small the load is.
Lol wow pan !
Thank you. We have the “Free & Clear” detergent in our home already. Knowing this will save me from having to buy more microfiber cleaner.
I’ve been using spot cleaners like Shout on my dirty clothes or soaking them in Dawn or OxyClean. Is this bad? Can I use cleaners like Simple Green or Meguiar’s APC for a Pre Soak? If so, how strong should I mix it? Thanks Again. You have a new subscriber.
Thanks for this information Pan, this is useful indeed.
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks for all the great information!
You bet!
His cabinets are so cute, I love how he casually closes them 😌

How do I lose those agravating hairs from my microfibers? I have a few "glass " microfiber towels an they always leave hairs in my windows
Same here!!!! How do we solve this???
Very good video. I used the vinegar trick and it worked great. Thank you.
Thanks for the feedback Mark! Stay safe.
Was literally just asking this question on another video. Thank you!
:)
Hot water is what you instructed to use in the last video you made on this topic. Last time you also mentioned any soap would be fine. A bit of conflicting information between these two videos.
I guess he found a specific detergent for them since then, even in the description of this video he says the normal ones without fabric softener work fine.
You can put them in the dryer, as long as you are using the LOWEST possible heat setting, or better yet, just air fluff or "air dry" setting (meaning just ambient temperature drying).
Thanks Pan.. Would there be any residue left in the washer (wax etc) that would need to be addressed before washing regular clothes again? Perhaps running an empty load to get rid of that? What are your thoughts on this 🤔
Personally ive never ran into this, clothes after an oil change may need a clean out after, but not my microfibers.
I've washed a lot of microfiber towels and I've never noticed any type of residue after washing them, even when they were towels that I used for a wax or sealant. Just my two cents.
@@archiepezek thanks for the info
Personally I take mine to a public laundromat. I do presoak them a day ahead in a microfiber cleaner solution to loosen up anything heavy duty dirt, wring out toss into a laundry basket. Then basically follow the way Pan has describe.

Thanks Pan. I'm about to wash my microfiber towels today. Thanks for the toturial.

Thanks Pan for sharing this one . I was looking up how to wash microfiber towels and your video showed up. Appreciate you!
You are so welcome! How did you discover my channel by the way?
Welcome to my channel. You discovered one of the biggest car detailing channels on RUclips as we surpassed 855,000 subscribers and 108 million views! I have been detailing for 25 years and I love to share my knowledge and passion with my viewers.
You found the right channel to help you learn everything about detailing.
@Pan The Organizer I actually love washing my vehicle and my wife's vehicle but wanted to step my game up and your channel has helped me the past 2 weeks. Basically searched on RUclips for tips on washing cars and your channel showed up and just love your passion and how you share your many tips on washing and detailing vehicles.
Tide Free&Gentle has Optical whiteners inside. Just to have on mind.
I remember my new microfiber and was sun dried... wow it got toasted and rough!
Yeah same
Great video. Really well done. Appreciate the tips.
I use Free & Clear detergent and white vinegar and I don’t use fabric softener, but my microfiber still leaves lint and residue on my newly cleaned vehicles-particularly on the windows. Any suggestions?
Great informative vid. The LG Washer looks pretty cool too... Keep up the great work
Thanks!
I always thought that use hot water when washing microfiber towels
That’s what I though too lol. No wonder my towels turned to shit
Like that the video has exactly the same model of washing machine that I'll be using to clean my micro fibre towels.
Thanks Pan, did this just today, it's nice to have clean towels ready for the next car wash.
As always, enjoy your helpful channel, thanks.
