Thank you for this video, we did all the other arches first and by the time we got here my hips were done! We walked into this section but only to the sign that pointed where those two arches were. Getting old sucks! LOL ✌️
I love to see families together doing things. Makes for great memories and photos. Hope you can continue exploring together for many years. Rick from NC.
Always fun to see places you've been in someone's video. Got to see part, but not all. I'm looking forward to going back. Thank you for the recommendation on travel direction for the trail. Helpful hints like those are much appreciated. So cool to get to travel and do those activities as a family. Great video. Thank you for sharing. New subscriber. I look forward to seeing some of your other vids. Cheers!
That was our favorite Arches hike. We liked it so much that we came back a couple days later and did it in the opposite direction. The primitive trails are always less busy, which is nice (as long as you aren’t lost).
We would totally hike this again, and maybe we'll go in the opposite direction. Definitely gotta pay attention to the primitive trails 😳😁. Thanks a bunch for watching 🫶
I did that hike back in early November. The temperatures were great. We went the same direction as you did. We turned around at the double O and went back the way we came. It was nice getting a different perspective coming back. We had done a different hike early in the day so we didn't want to wear ourselves out. The next day it was raining and snowing so we saw some beautiful waterfalls. Hiking when it's wet on these surfaces requires extra care.
Sounds like you did it perfectly and had an amazing hike. We love waterfalls and totally agree with you about hiking these surfaces while wet. Thank you for watching our video, and we are glad you had a great experience.
Did Primitive w/Dark Angel clockwise back on 4/10. We missed a turn after Primitive Arch and followed some footprints but turned around after .25 mile. Luckily able to backtrack and find hikers to steer us back!
Nice video with family! I've been to Arches 3 times & one of my favorite was Navaho & Partition Arches just past Landscape Arch. After ducking under Navajo Arch, Partition was amazing! The views thru the arch are cool & if you have the nerve, the look back thru the arch is exhilarating!
I think I would go counter clockwise and go down the loose sand hills rather than up. Looks amazing though. Can't wait for you to get to Michigan and try Sleeping Bear Dunes so you can see some real loose sand hills. Keep after it.
I hiked part of this trail in 2015 and saw Pine Tree, Tunnel and Landscape Arches. Sadly, there were lots of people wandering around under and near Landscape Arch even though they weren't supposed to. I stopped for a break at the rocks you show at 6:10 and a ranger informed me and several others there that the rocks were a fallen arch.
It's a beautiful hike, and we thought those rocks at 6:10 were a fallen arch. So unfortunate, yet so neat. Thanks a bunch for spending your time with us! ❤️
Some nice shots here. Very pretty. I'd tend to disagree that this hike is not hard. It's not for everyone. If you pay attention, you won't get lost. Thanks for posting this video. Very nice.
@FH Chan Well, we are glad you got to explore some of these locations. We definitely are trying to experience all we can before our age limits what we can do.
I did some of the hike a couple years ago. Didn't have enough time to do the entire thing because I had plans elsewhere. So I only went as far as Double O arch. It was still one of my favorite hikes I've ever done.
Well, we are slow hikers and love to take our time, so we usually spend way more time on hikes than what is the estimated time for the hike. It's been a while so we don't really remember how long we took on this hike (not more than half the day though) but if you download the All Trails app (free) and search your hikes it will give you the estimated time and mileage. Hope this helps and Thanks so much for watching our video.
This was a great hike and I appreciate the video. Did the National Park Service change their rule on recording videos? If so, that's awesome and I'm glad to hear it.
We appreciate you watching our video, and as far as recording in National Parks goes, you can take videos and pictures unless it's posted otherwise. Now recording with a drone is mostly always a no.
Wow your kids are amazing. I hired my friend’s 16 year old son to rake my leaves on a cool fall day and she made me promise to give him a ten minute break every half hour. That’s not how MY parents raised me. Heck, I could go for two hours when I was 65.
Thanks! We are pretty lucky parents! They love hiking and adventuring with us! They never complain, and always learn so much on our adventures. Thanks for watching! 😁
That primitive trail is no joke. Was there on 4/25 and took a false path by following footprints instead of looking out for trail cairns and wound up lost for a solid 20 minutes. Ran into a guy who did the same thing and was lost for an hour.
Omg I bet that was nerve-wracking! It was a heck of a hike, and we saw firsthand how easy it would be to get off trail on this hike. We knew that going in, so we were very careful to stay on the designated trail. I'm so glad you and the others found your way back safe and sound. Thanks for commenting on your experience and watching 🤙
got a Question ??? what if ya got ta go !!🤐 to the bathroom, especially for females 🤔 just got a class B RV and hoping to get there sometime, but I would not always be close to it to use the restroom if out hiking , thanks Have a blessed day
Legit question so, we never really have to worry due to going prior knowing it'll be a while till next time. However, if there is a worry or need on a long hike, there are products for this exact thing. There are things for females that allow number 1s to be done with ease and also things like special bags for number 2s. So with some research and preparation you would find what you need and totally be ok on the trail! Hope this helps a little. 😁
@@theballfamily0 yea, that was very helpful, I am 68 and my wife in her mid 50's so I hope our hike's are not to long, 🤐 but yea never know they could be you guys be safe and thank you !! 👍
Got lost in the Firey Furnace one time with 2 friends on a unguided venture. Mud season after a long winter working at Copper Mountain, Colorado. Camping on the river right outside of Moab. We had to sign our lives away and watch the video at the Arches Natl. Park building/office. Then we decided to eat some fungus. we made it about half way to the skull arch. Then stuff got weird. I remember puking behind a large boulder. Luckily we made it out. Nobody got hurt. If you watch the first Hulk movie with Jennifer Connelly, they turn it into a parking lot with missiles.
If you're ever passing through southern Minnesota, My door is always open. Camping in the backyard with a creek with fish and a fire pit. , beers and pizza. Roberds lake is a stones throw away. Cheers, Safe travels, Positive frequencies.
Well, that's a hike you'll never forget 😆. We haven't made it to Minnesota yet, but it's definitely on the list. Thanks a bunch for watching and commenting 🤙🤙
If you go all the way to Double O Arch, I would guess around 2-3 hours taking your time. We took around 3 or more to get to that point but had our kids and took multiple breaks. It's worth it. We hope you have a great trip and thanks for watching 👍
@@theballfamily0 Okay, so the "Warning" was about not to hike the trail counter clockwise. Because that part of the trail is primitive and has no shade, and you have to walk 4 miles to get to the first arch? I'd hake that part first, in the cool of the morning, since there is no shade. But then again, I'm an old rock scrambler from Wyoming.
@James Hart Just warning people who may not want to do that part. Not everyone may want to hike it. You might, we did, but the next person may not want to. 🤷♂️ Thanks for watching 🤙
Watch those rivers my man. We ride in the nearby back country and have seen some sewer trucks back there- where they clear do not belong dumping stuff upstream. It's a thing. I guess it saves them money...until they are caught and fined. I would at least not dunk your head, ears, etc. Wash up after. it don't matter how pretty the stream looks. They also have natural bacteria that my friend, a river guide told me can make you sick...even if only a little water splashes on your soda on a rafting trip. He would know as a guide.
As a mother of two 30-somethings who had to be bribed to hike when they were little, I can assure you that you are wrong. They, as adults, love the outdoors and hiking, camping, bouldering, hunting, or just hanging out on a rock in the middle of the lake with a guitar.
