Like all your videos I really enjoyed this one, but I’ve tried the same disgorging tool shown as well as the ones by Stonfo and I’m still of the opinion that nothing beats a 9 inch long pair of artery forceps. Way back in the March 1989 edition of the now defunct “Sea Fishing” magazine I was lucky to have an article published on the safe unhooking of flatfish in which I demonstrated how easy it was. The method was the same by going in through the gill cover and pulling the snood back through after which you grasp the hook shank reverse the hook and push it out through the mouth. No need fiddling about with the fingers to reverse the hook. You get a really good grip of the hook with the forceps which I find makes unhooking that bit quicker and easier.
@@samsmith7866 I would imagine that the forceps method is just as good, same principle. The flatfish unhooking tool is another example of a tried and tested method with a modern take, I guess.
@@bassblanker5359 I was reminiscing with Andy about the kind of fishing we had there in the mid nineties. It wasn’t just a few good fish, it was a lot of whiting, eels picking them up and plenty of codling too. Jansen

Glad you mentioned the loss of whiting, 30 years ago that beach fished incredibly well for whiting and codling, amazing fishing.

Thanks Tony, it’s a great venue isn’t it and as good as any of the reefs on its day. Just not this particular day.

@@someOne-ef8tl not personally, but some anglers use disposable gloves to get over the problem
