- The American Bittern is a secretive marsh bird that makes its home in tall wetlands, hunting for frogs, fish and whatever else it can catch. OVF Naturalist Kim Gaffett found a dead Bittern on Block Island, and took the opportunity to share a little bit about this fascinating, well-camouflaged bird.
Always very sad to loose a beautiful part of nature like this. She is truly magnificent bird😢
Kim feels the same and wanted to make the best of a sad situation by sharing it with us. Thanks for following.
Just saw one this week on the Palmer River in Rehoboth/Warren Line!
Wow, that's cool!
Just saw one in New Egypt NJ while fishing 🎣 very hard to spot, blended in perfectly with the surrounding foliage.
Cool, sounds just right :)
I found one that had been hit on the road very beautiful for sure :)
Sad to lose them like that
