650 park runs Nicola, amazing achievement and here’s to many more and eventually reaching the magical 1000. And really good to see you looking well all things considered. Hope you have a fantastic New Year and a wonderful 2024. Take care.
Thank you, yes it was really good for me to have this as a milestone to look forward to 😃 I had a really lovely morning 🤗 The thought of the 1000 club gives me goosebumps! 😃😍😱
650 is 13 years of parkruns which is so inspiring and incredible achievement. It must put you high up in the all time list. Nicola to do 650 inspire many people to try and achieve that fete and makes people want to be like you well done
Oh no! I always really feel for people who have to work Saturday mornings! I imagine that can be frustrating but hooray for not working EVERY Saturday morning 🎉🎉🎉
What a great accomplishment Nicola@ I agree with you, they need micro achievements like that to keep you going. 500 to 1000 seems like a large jump without hitting at least a bit of a milestone and agree you deserve to celebrate increments of 50. I was just looking at my Athlinks page and I have 480 races since around 2004 (some aren't listed, so I am guessing close to 500 by now). We don't have ParkRuns here in the US like you do in the UK, so each of those I had to pay for. That is also a great idea for Brooks to let people try their shoes. I know Brooks shows up at some of the big races here but they don't do the shoe trial. Would you buy the Ghost Max? I love the Glycerins and the Adrenalines. Enjoyed the video and can't wait for the next installment.
Thanks Eddie, I'd buy the Ghost Max if I needed a new road shoe, it didn't need wearing in, it was just super comfy! I think that's such a positive investment for your life, health and future to have paid for so many races. It's a bit like self care really isn't it as it's us doing something we love 😃
Marvellous achievement Nicola - really well done - 650 is staggering. Love Brooks shoes. Hope you and Poppy have had a wonderful and peaceful Christmas - you deserve it
Thanks Rich, not an official milestone but certainly worth celebrating! 😃 I actually run all my marathons in Brooks shoes although they're all getting a bit old now! 😂 Wishing you a great 2024 ☺️
Thank you so much! Not everything is always great but you can always find something that is great! For me it's parkrun and running in general. It nourishes my soul and I can't help but be happy! Except when there's cows... 😳🐄🐮🐄🐄😱😭😭😭😂
Another fantastic video Nicola! 650 is just incredible. And those Brooks shoes look great - I’m finally realising my old ghosts are dead, I may have to try these myself. And barcode on the garmin…you’ll never FYB again! I hope you have the loveliest Christmas and that 2024 will be one of your best years yet, and for Poppy too ❤️
Thank you so much! It's really nice having the Garmin and phone options. It takes away that panic of the thought of FYB! 😳😳😳 The ghost max were nice to run in... No PB though! Shame they're not magic shoes 😜🤣
Wow 650 Parkruns is amazing !! Well done on the achievement. I don't see issue with Brooks being there either. Nobody's forcing anyone to try or buy new trainers !!! Happy New Year to you and Poppy 😃
Great run Nicola. I'm disappointed you're using QR codes now as it makes old guys like me feel like I'm falling behind the times...hahahaha. Seriously, it's so convenient you can have your code and Poppy's on there...one less thing to forget. Awesome you got to try the Brooks shoes. Well done so soon after the marathon. Can't wait to watch your March 5 in 5 days.
Awwww well you're right about it being one less thing to remember although rest assured that I have the plastic tag barcodes AND the wristbands ANNNNDDDD paper versions all in the van 'just in case' 🤣 I don't know in case of what but I'm old school enough to feel like I still need them 🙈😂😂😂
And I thought I was doing well - I’ve just done my 25th today! Woodhouse Moor is on my list to do next year. I normally do Skipton, but I used to work at Leeds Uni Law School so spent many lunch hours in the park and it would be fun to do a parkrun there
You are doing well! You reached your first parkrun milestone! 🎉🎉🎉 And 25 is a real milestone where you don't have to make your own t-shirt 🙈😂 It's great to do parkruns that you have an emotional connection to or that you know from the past. I hope you love it when you visit 😃
Thank you... Only another 6 years until my next real parkrun milestone. You can be certain I'll be celebrating my 700th parkrun 🤣 and all the rest along the way 🎉🎉🎉
You go girl and have an amazing New year, i wish you every happiness in 2024, much love xxx Tell Poppy she needs to get her butt out of bed we miss her 😆
I know right?! I'll tell her 😂 although bless her she's had so many winter bugs! She didn't run with me over Xmas as we don't see our family often so she wanted to stay with them but she ran with me yesterday which was lovely ❤️ Wishing you all the best in 2024 too... I've a feeling it will be a great year! 🤞🥰
I'm sorry but I can't just wait around for you on this number... I'm going to have to keep running. 😜🤣 Jokes aside it's exciting that you're getting near an actual parkrun milestone! 😃😃😃
Thank you ☺️ Oh my goodness the gaps get sooooooo long don't they?! I was really hoping they'd bring in the 750 but it doesn't look like they will. Still... Imagine how good that 1000 top will feel when we eventually get them! 😃
Nice one Nicola. You my current running youtube favourite and you have some stiff competition ( Ben Parkes, Ben and Mary Bridges, Flora Beverley, Philly Bowen) to name a few. They are all great of course but your just above them. 😇 Looking forward to seeing where your next parkruns take you.
Ah thanks Nicola this takes me back - my journey started here too, 4 HPTTs back in 2008 before it wa renamed. Looks like they've changed the course a bit since those days?
Yes it's totally different now. It changed after the covid pause. It now runs the opposite direction and starts and finishes in the middle of the park. Every now and then I like to run the old course just for old times sake 🥰
Awww thank you so much. I needed something to celebrate so was super happy about this milestone 😃 I feel sorry for him, only a very weak man treats a woman like that 🤷🏻♀️ he's very skilled and impressive as a person, but as a partner... Turn and run 🤦🏻♀️ totally toxic 💔
Yes indeed , i wont mention it again , not worth it . i hope 2024 is much better for you , you deserve it , once again thanks for all the fun vids , they always cheer me up 😊
@@bren70ssss94 you hit the nail on the head! Not worth it, life is too short 🤗 Thanks for all of your positivity this year. You've been constantly supportive and engaging and I really appreciate it ☺️
Massive well done ❤ but be careful showing your QR code on here , but 650 amazing from someone that's just started running at 56 and up to 5 so a bit to catch up.
I do get a bit sick of the commercialisation of running. Brooks have found a way to sink their dirty commercial claws into what should be a free, organic event. Why can’t we just run in peace!?
Hiya, I appreciate your POV but the thing is that parkrun will always be free to the participant. However it's not free to organise so the money needs to come from somewhere. I think parkrun are pretty good at choosing sponsors that align with their mission statement and values and they've turned down so many companies that don't align so I respect them for that. So whilst I get what you're saying then personally I quite like seeing Co-op, or WithU, or Brooks at a parkrun as it's helping parkrun grow and be sustainable. Obviously running on its own doesn't need to be commercialised... We can hit the trails on our own and it be pure movement in nature, but at an event that is free to the participant then I don't mind it. Plus I quite liked being able to try new shoes and I really enjoy chatting with other people who are passionate about running. I mean Heather Townsend is an unbelievable runner so it's nice just to chat running ☺️ So... I think in my opinion then the answer to your question is because of finish tokens, and website hosting, and staff costs, and insurance etc etc.
@@StuWebRT I'm not sure how you mean? 🤔 I'm pretty sure parkrun don't sell our data! 😳🤣 Or do you mean in terms of the parkrun email? Because you can unsubscribe from that, or you could just run and not register and so be an unknown in the results, or you can choose not to run at events. So many options that it's hard for me to understand why people would be unhappy about it? 🤷🏻♀️ I don't really get it... I mean it's not free to organise so the money needs to come from somewhere 🤷🏻♀️ What is your suggestion of how it could be improved?
I get a little sensitive when I hear Brooks named in vain. Years ago in the States, they sponsored a young runner named Gabe Grunwald. She later developed cancer to which she eventually succumbed after a brave fight. Brooks stayed with her until she passed.
Congratulations - agree there is such a long way between - my 250 seems like years away! Thanks for sharing.
I honestly thought there would be a 750 club! The wait for 1000 seems like forever 🤣
