I prefer the 8+ standalone. The storage in back is great and the fins being fixed over hinged is more stable. Building techniques are interesting in it. Price is high but that’s par for the course. It’s actually not too bad price per part.
To note: the wings being angled up more is not fancy on the 18+ version. It is inaccurate. If you look at the Tim Burton batmobile, the rear wings do not stand above the height of the roof inlet. The 8+ set did it right by having them sit lower. Not sure why people think the shadowbox batmobile is better because it clearly isn't.
The batmobile is kinda small but mostly too thin, never forget that this batmobile has space for 2 people, we see it in the first movie when he drives Vicki Vaile to the batcave, also looking at it the seats should be black.
@@TheDarkFuryKnight No, they mean the only LEGO Batmobiles that have two seats are the ones they listed. 2 Seaters are rare and even with just one it's already oversized compared to regular lego cars (not counting the racing stuff)
The seats in the batmobile in burton were not tan. You can see it the film several times. They are black seats. Also the wings of the real thing finish off more horizontal like 8+ version. The exhaust intake is more accurate in 8+ version too. The stickered back is more accurate too as the brick detailing of 18+ are too far from eachother. Pretty much everything is more accurate on the 8+. I think you just assumed it was more accurate on the 18+ version cus its the 18+ version. In actuality, the 8+ seems to be a correction of many things.
I’m not sure but I think the 18+ one is better just because of the bat wings. I wish that they had made it with the 2 seats just like the 89 movie or even have the bat missile from Batman Returns. I have been trying to make a moc of it to where it has the two seats, can split into the bat missile, sliding cockpit and has the machine guns (I’ll probably have the front jet engine as a button to push the guns up rather than having a gear cog on the side)
I actually prefer the hub caps sticking out, I believe that's much more accurate to the original model as they are supposed to represent drop-away bombs
I'm bummed that they just gave the Joker plain purple legs and didn't go with the checkered detail legs that came with the UCS 1989 Batmobile. I love the new green hair piece that was included for Joker but overall I think lego is phoning it in with the Minifigs in these 1989 and 1992 Batman sets.
Having recently gotten back into lego as an [ahem] mature adult... (lol... it's all my nephews' fault...) it just feels like such a gift from Lego that they're releasing these minifigure scale sets of what were tried to build ourselves as kids.... back when Tim Burton Batman was the CURRENT batman! What a time to be alive... with expendable income 👌 Now if they can turn their attention to TMNT next...
I got the 1989 (2019)gift version and the loose august 2023 edition.. both are amazing but Yeaa $48 for the new one is crazy.. I didn’t mind it but should’ve included a plaque or maybe a joker goon .. maybe a part of the museum exterior ? Idk Or Vicky remake I’m hoping they make more sets like this with BATMAN FOREVER and BATMAN & robin
Thank you. I have the Batcave shadow box and was wondering if it was effectively the same vehicle as the stand alone set. I think some of the features are cool, the pop out guns especially since those aren't on the GWP. I think the hinge for the wing flairs was a very cool detail, added to the completeness of the visual design, but it doesn't make for good playing as they flip up fairly easily. Thanks for the comparison.
After a year on market Walmart was selling it for under 40 almost $10 cheaper. I got the Batmobile set for under 30 at a second hand Lego store earlier this year
to me the changes seem like a tradeoff between playability vs display. The wings on the back are more accurate on the 18+ one but they aren't fixed in place, and the same goes for the side vents, while the 8+ version has less accurate shapes for the sake of being more rugged for play because, y'know, it's for kids, not collectors
07:18 There is nothing spinning in the exhaust of the Burton Batmobile. It’s the exhaust of what is meant to be a jet engine within the context of the film, but IRL the prop used the V8 Chevrolet engine from an Impala. The fire you see coming out the back in the film is from several gas nozzles arranged in a circular pattern. There is no spinning, it’s just the movement of the gas flames as the car drives along. 🙄🤔🤷
3:20 the thing is exceptionally heavy for its size, kind of makes the price fairer, especially knowing it's 438 pieces. At worst it's ~5 dollars overpriced. No idea why you're saying it's "really overpriced" that's pretty close to 10c/piece which is their baseline
It would've been perfect if the cockpit fit two minifigures like it does in the movie AND that it was able to split apart into that bobsled thing from Batman Returns.
1 thing that's for sure is a problem is that the real batmobile is the same width end and front, where this build's front never gets as wide as the rear. If I ever build a moc, I will definetly make the front 10 stud wide too, or make the rear 8 stud wide
The new Batman vs Joker Batwing set is a much better value. And quite honestly, displaying that Batwing on the wall against a decal of the Moon is the ultimate Batdisplay.
Hello. Did somebody understand why they did this? Of course they wanted to change the car for the batcave. And it is not about 8+ ore 18+... the set of the batcave is 18 + not the car. Ore is it posible to buy the 18+ small batcar separate??
If you have the shadowbox set there is no reason to get the 76224 batmobile. What i did with mine was replaced the front wheels with the ones with the gwp and replaced the rear axle and changed out 4 elements and the rear tires for the ones with gwp batmobile. With 2 extra elements for both sides of the wings i was able to build them the same as 76224 and changed out the rear gray cone for a black one and am happy with how it looks now
The side vents are more accurate to the bat cave one as it’s got to be a display piece but personally the standalone car vents have a nice vintage feel to it and looks better, hell I wouldn’t even complain if the movie version looked like that too
Maybe the differences it to account for any changes made between Batman 89 and Batman Returns, though I don’t recall noticing any differences in the films
I just purchased this on Ebay for about $30. I agree it is over priced, but I would also never spend $400 on the Batcave. I also went on Ebay and got the "The Batman" Batcave of 2022 for $60 as my Batcave because it is affordable.
Lego did the same thing with the classic 1960s Batcave (76052) and the '60s Batmobile (76188)... 🤬"NO WAY I'M BUYING A 400$ BATCAVE!!!", 🤩"Ohhhhh, a standalone Batmobile!!!!" 💸💸💸 Legonomics.
why does EVERY Batmobile set gotta come with Joker? Batwing as well. There are sooooooo many other villains!!! Throw us a change up at least LEGO if these prices are gonna keep going up! an extra figure or something i dunno

Walking backwards down the stairs holding the batcave without breaking eye contact with the camera is crazy. You’re stressing me out here
terrified of the day something in Chris's Brick Bunker falls down
Just build it together again :)

I think it would've been possible to make the gun pop up function operate by turning the front turbine.

I have to ask this....
How do you keep all of your models dust free
I think he said in a livestream that the basement doesn't accumulate a lot of dust for some reason.
🤣 I was just wondering the same thing! And spiders.... spiders must looooooovve that room 😬😬
Duck bricks puttin in da work per usual 💯
Great review dude,

Lego learned their lesson when it comes with selling you same sets on expensive sets haha (looking at you Star Wars hoth rebel base LOL)
If the play scale version comes down to 35 bucks at some point, it will be worth the buy.
I have the 48.00 one, think the set one looks better Silhouette looks much accurate.
