    Awesome Video! Why do you apply rec709 transform in the 8ght node? It is usually said to use this step as a starting point. Would love to hear your opinion on that.

    • @TimmyLodhi
      @TimmyLodhi  Год назад

      There are certain effects that you want to apply to the image BEFORE you add the LUT, such as saturation, contrast, WB, etc. And there are certain effects you want to apply AFTER. You can place it wherever you'd like but for me on this project, the 8th node is just the one I picked.

    Righteous! Thank you for doing this. Really clear and snappy. I have a colorist question though. I have the RX0M2 Sony. It's a gopro sized camera, but with a large sensor - making it NOT a go pro. It's got a SLog2 option. I'm not using it to shoot cinema style videos. I make music and multicamera shoot myself music recording/mixing (ATEM). I'm shooting in a studio environment with fixed lighting, typically low ISO/shutter 1/30. The camera is locked off. This is a colorist question, but should I always shoot in slog2? If I'm not after a cinematic look? I really want blacks and details to look as good as possible. I typically like a very saturated dark image. What do you think? Thanks in advance... :)

    So one question I have is what your settings are when you first started the project. Obviously you chose settings on the Effects tab when you were doing your Rec 709 conversion but I’ve seen some videos where they referenced why they didn’t choose output settings because of what their project settings already were

  • @arjunflacko1467
    @arjunflacko1467 Год назад

    Hey Timmy do the project settings matter? do I change anything in color management to have the best results? I've seen some people change rec709 (scene) to rec709 gamma 2.4 on the output settings on color management as well, I'm not too well knowledge on this and was wondering if you make any changes in that setting?

  • @itsfarisfakri
    @itsfarisfakri 3 года назад +1

    Thanks for the tutorial Timmy. Gained new knowledge! By the way, did you write a script for narration beforehand or shoot everything, edit the sequence then only think about narration later?

    • @TimmyLodhi
      @TimmyLodhi  3 года назад

      You're welcome! For this particular piece I shot everything and edited the sequence first. At first, that's all I was gonna release but felt like it was lacking a bit. So I spent sometime writing a script and recorded the voice-over while watching the video back so the timing worked out.

    Hey Timmy thanks for the informative video. The color space transform that you do at 4:20, is this the same as using a given SLOG to REC709 LUT? And is there an equivalent tool in premiere?
    Been watching your videos for a while now and they have helped a bunch. Thank you!

    • @TimmyLodhi
      @TimmyLodhi  3 года назад

      Thank you so much for the kind words! Tbh, I’m not exactly sure if the color space transform tool works exactly like applying the standard SLOG2-Rec709 conversion LUT. For some reason, and this is totally my opinion, but I get better results in Davinci using that tool versus just applying the LUT in Premiere

    • @TimmyLodhi
      @TimmyLodhi  3 года назад

      And unfortunately there is no equivalent tool in Premiere. The only thing you can do is download a LUT and then select it in the Lumetri Panel. Quite unfortunate because it's a very powerful tool.
