I love you mention your infuences. The old masters from the '50s and '60s. Keeps me looking further into them. Thanks for sharing your licks library with us. Bart the Belgian
Thanks for these lessons. Im starting to learn that the whole secret to getting this, is the “swing” feel in the picking hand. Otherwise they’re just scales with hammer-ons and pull offs. Maybe you can give a lesson that builds on right hand rhythm picking. Thanks
Danny was the first rockabilly guitarist and the first to mysteriously die. One story reported he died from a fall down a fight of stairs. Stairs are indeed dangerous, but I also know of someone who was pushed down them. By 1959 all rockabilly artists had switched to country or pop, got out of the music business, suffered a disabling accident, got drafted, got incarcerated, eloped or else got killed. The only exception may have been that guitarist who started surf music and lived in Los Angeles far away from Nashville. But even rockers who escaped to Europe ended up dead. And all that was before speed, LSD and coke became a recreational thing with overdoses and mishaps caused by hallucinations. When rock did make a come back thru surf music and the Britsh invasion around 1963 or1964, it left behind its rockabilly roots.
Being in public education for 28 years, now retired. I know a good teacher when I see one, and you are that one! Your lessons are really helping my chops. Thank you, Damian!!!!
Section 5 is very tricky chord-wise. Starts with E augmented but I'm not sure after that. Maybe there is a G# augmented in there too. The final line is something like A, F#7, Bm7, E6, A.
Great lessons. I combined your killer Rockabilly lesson with the double stops lesson with this one al together. Makes a nice long practice song. Thanks for getting me into Rockabilly after playing classic rock for 50 years. I’m loving your fantastic teaching techniques.
You are great, fun lessons as always,i have learnd so much great stuff from you,you are the best, keep up the good work and remember,if you gonna swim with sharks, wear bathingshorts of Steel...much love from Sweden.
You're an incredible teacher and personality Damian. You are extremely generous in showing us these lessons. You have reignited the fire for this middle aged guitar player to be excited again like I was in my youth with playing guitar.
Thanking you again, it is great to learn something that takes you out of a rut. I can now play this at the slow speed from memory .... now it is repetition, repetition, repetition, till I can play at the quicker speed. I have recently been asked to dep for a swing band in May; these licks will, I hope keep me in the groove. Cheers Damien.
This was never my style of playing but learning these licks has really re-energized my playing. Your content is fantastic and your attitude is infectious. Keep kicking out the great content and I hope your channel explodes with subscribers and success.
These are sensational! I’m emerging from the old Metal scene and transitioning to Rockabilly. These guitar licks will make you practice until you swing daddy-o.
Great content, and presented in a totally accessible manner. This is the first I've heard of you, and I immediately subscribed, and I can't wait explore what you have already posted. Big, big thanks!
Thanks for watching. I'm using Power Tab Editor 1.7. It's a older version. I manipulate the program by doing my on thing with it, so what your seeing in my videos isn't necessarily what that editor does if that makes any sense.
Damian... your lessons are absolutely brilliant. I can't put my Gretsch down anymore, and if I do... Im thinking about it. I'm addicted to your lessons. Never stop putting out this material.
Hey R.J. - you're a huge inspiration for my guitar playing! I thought you were primarily a blues/country guy but then I saw your rockabilly demo for the Guild X-175B Manhattan and was amazed - you really are versatile. I would love it if you would do a lesson on rockabilly licks/solos/riffs in the future! Thanks for the great content!
Hey Damian, New to you and your channel. I checked out your channel when I saw the Guild, I subscribed after I watched the lesson!! Your camera angle is fantastic plus adding the tab above is genius! Great lesson.
I want somebody to pay tribute to Poison Ivy from the cramps.. I know Lux interior the cramps did not have the best songwriting. But poison ivy who is lux's wife and Rhythm and lead guitar player was just crazy good. I wish one of you rockabilly people or someone would pay tribute to her and talk about her
I know many folks get this but I really do think yours are some of the best guitar lessons on RUclips. Thus is another winner! Have you thought any more about a Western Swing course? Thanks a lot mate.
Hi Mark Thank you for those kind words. I really appreciate you taking the time out to message me. Glad to hear you enjoyed the lesson. I do plan on doing a full course on Western Swing sometime in the near future. I'm also planning to upload a lesson on Junior Barnard's guitar style soon. That's going to be a fun lesson to do. :) Keep on rockin' DAMIAN
Thanks for the awesome content as usual Damian! Could you do a video on different rockabilly comping patterns using travis picking like scotty moore does on Elvis records? I'd like to accompany myself singing using travis picking rather than basic strumming... Thanks again and keep on rocking!
Hi Bobpopsiculs Thanks for stopping by the channel and checking out the lesson. Your lesson suggestion is a good one. I'll put your suggestion into my lesson request book. Cheers DAMIAN :)
Damian, how about a video showing some the great guitars you have and maybe why you choose certain guitars for certain songs? It may sound obvious but I am a guitar nut. I've seen you use Gretsch, Epiphone, Washburn , Guild for lessons but what other guitars do you have in your arsensl? As always, Cheers and have a great day!
Hi Jerry That's a great tune. It's one of my favorites by Bill. Have you ever heard the original song by Dickie Thompson? It's really good. :) I plan to do some more Bill Haley in the near future. Please stay tuned. Cheers DAMIAN

Great lesson, as usual. What is the chord base for the "outside" lick starting at 00:34 and 6:16 (Section 5)? I can't seem to match it up.....
Section 5 is very tricky chord-wise. Starts with E augmented but I'm not sure after that. Maybe there is a G# augmented in there too. The final line is something like A, F#7, Bm7, E6, A.
I love your background, too!

Was Danny Cedrone the first rockabilly guitarist? And the first rocker to meet an unfortunate death? Murdered? Pushed down the stairs?
