    We used to live in Kansas City. In the winter you get those high winds and the roads like I-70 are icy. It will actually blow you off the road, especially large profile vehicles and you can’t stop it. I-80 and I-90 are the same. It’s flat but if it is icy, it can be dangerous. That is why they shutdown the Interstates. Great video! I like your winter camping vids.

Good pizza & wings…adult beverages available…a mile off I-80 so nice & quiet. And, it’s out in the country, not in the city. More like camping should be. Great video you two! Residential streets in small towns end up full of stranded cars. Sometimes they close it so people go to Grand Island/Hastings/Kearney even though here it could still be 70 degrees! I'm enjoying your black hills videos since we plan to go there.

    I will say that the worst blizzard I have ever experienced was in Nebraska somewhere between Grand Island and Ericson. I was in a 3 or 4 car caravan for work and no one else would take the lead but we couldn't just sit on the road. I took the lead and in about 20 minutes we were out of it but it was a pretty white knuckle 20 minutes. I thinks that Hexamachinery had a band saw, a polisher or grinder and a table saw. Did I win 1,000,000 Internet points. Keep the good stuff coming guys.

    Question???? I didn't know RVs could handle cold temperatures, but were usually in a warm climate setting. Seeing so many in the background of your video made me wonder, if they're all season (insulated to avoid freezing water pipes)?

    • @WanderingWagners
      @WanderingWagners  9 месяцев назад +1

      Depends on the RV if it can handle the cold or not. When we were shopping we were looking for a rig that could perform the same whether it was 0F or 100F etc.
      Our fresh water is under our bed (so it stays ambient to the coach) same with the water lines. Everything is enclosed and the gray and black tanks are in a bay where we have added an outlet and permanent space heater to keep them well above freezing. We run almost all electric heat in the winter and our furnace only kicks on if we are in super cold temps. We've camped down to 0F regular air temp (we don't count wind chill) without issues. We can't speak for other RVs though.

    Great show guys...glad to see you back out in the snow again. I've been meaning to ask: How are you keeping the Wraith functional in the cold? I don't believe it's a 4 season build, correct? I've got my eye on a couple of coaches and would also like to travel in the winter time (I'm in the 'burbs of Chicago) but have been cautioned by dealers that the cold could impact my travels. Thanks!

      We've talked about it a few times over the years but with the super c chassis the fresh water is under our bed so it's ambient to the coach temp. Water lines are all interior so they are kept warm and we added a heater to the dump bay where the black and gray tanks are.

      We stayed in the Grand Isle KOA last summer as well. I recall having issues finding our site. The sites are super tight there. We couldn’t put our front slide out because it would hang over the neighbors picnic table. It is good park for stopping for a night when just passing through. Have a safe trip through all these storms. I think we are paying the price for the last two winters being not so bad.

    So is Mike a bit of a foamer. I would not have guessed he would be interested in Trains it seems a bit to geeky for him, hence why I like trains being a total geek. My wife would say 57 is cold I swear, at school drop off at about 40 I am in a jacket but warm enough and all the Californian's around me look dressed for a trip to the poles.

    For a moment, when things are slow for you Wagners, give some thought to how different it is for those of us who had no other choice but to live in an RV to avoid outright homelessness. My wife and I and my mom's old cat, did so through two Iowa winters. Not trying to kill your buzz, but just wanted to share that your choice for living isn't always a choice for everyone.
