- Alexisonfire perform 'Sans soleil' at the 2023 Juno Awards
The 2023 Juno Awards took place at the Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta on March 13. Hosted by Simu Liu, it included performances by Tate McCrae, AP Dhillon, Tenille Townes, Alexisonfire, Aysanabee, Banx & Ranx, Preston Pablo, Rêve, Jessie Reyez, a special hip-hop tribute featuring Kardinal Offishall, Haviah Mighty, Michie Mee, Mel Boogie, Dream Warriors, Tobi, as well as a performance from Hall of Fame inductees Nickelback.

I was introduced to these guys because they opened for Avenged Sevenfold in Minneapolis on the 29th. I have been enjoying these guys since.

Would’ve been nice if they had played a song that featured George’s talents more. I understand tho why the Juno’s would want them to play their most digestible song from the new record. Good performance though, so happy to have The Only Band Ever back in my life!

@@ChuckJon2050 I mean that's not really the point I was making. They didn't win the Juno because they made a softer song like Sans Soleil. They've always made a song or two like that on their albums and I do enjoy them.
I was just saying if they're going play one song at a performance, it would've been nice to see them do one that features every member. Hell I even conceded this point in understanding that George's vocals don't appeal to the average music listener.
@@ryangaskin4938 They cut the screamo part of the song in this performance, this song is arguably the best showcase of George's vocals since he both sings and screams on it (Wade does clean and rough vocals on this track as well).

They are well known. Especially since Dallas Green created City and Colour and record that project with Pink.
@@stevemuzak8526 They are not very well known in the US. I saw them here last year in a smaller venue that even closed the balcony down since not enough people bought tickets to justify it being open. It was amazing for me as a huge fan getting to see them that close in an intimate venue, but I felt bad for the lack of turnout.
A week or so after that tour ended they posted a video playing to like 50,000 people at a Canadian festival. Complete night and day difference.

CBC probably requested no screaming, and then whoever mixed the sound turns George up way too loud for his clean parts. The deep harmony is supposed to be the lowest. So basically the CBC did George completely dirty in multiple ways.

sounds better than the album version - love wade's guitar in this and prefer it to the synth on the album, but still don't get what the fuss is about with this song.

There's a lot of great metal out there; this song has that and some of the most beautiful vocals I've ever heard. Worthy of the fuss, in my aged opinion.

You're missing out, one of the most incredible live rock bands in the game right now.
Dont you worry. They came in mtl to do a7x first part (roles are reversed lol). Youll have a chance to see them when theyll come back next year. The crowd went wild, aint no way they wont be touring

I am a huge alexis fan bit I don't find this to he a great performance tbh. Dals voice was a little lack luster on this one:( bummer
First time hearing music from their new album and really haven't heard their music since boiled frogs and this could be anywhere in the world.

@@wce_fan i did and the only thing that I somewhat enjoyed was reverse the curse. But thats just my personal preference I enjoy high tempo metal. Its okay that they have lightened up their style

If you haven't heard anything since Boiled Frogs and TCBAITW then check out their fourth album, Old Crows/Young Cardinals, and their Dog's Blood EP. If you're into up-tempo punk/metal then you'll probably prefer those records more.
I think they've completely lost bass guitar. And it's... should sound better. The song is epic

Helps legitimize their harder backcatalogue to a different audience \o/ It's nice to see an evolution. It's not like those songs are gone.

Ya, Radio and "Mainstream" don't play music for whatever reason and literally everyone looks at it and wonders why.
Putting that on the band though is a shame to me.

I try and take the positive outlook even though it does suck that hopefully their progressed style will bring new listeners to check out their earlier especially first 3 albums who never would have :)
George's screaming, is a masterclass in how it develops over the first three albums. So cool.
Can fully understand the lyrics by Crisis. Something that a lot of screamers don't even do any way.

@@PrimalPetersen not hard to watch previous videos of Alexisonfire/City and Colour and see he's lost some range. Not a bad thing we're just getting older. He still sounds great, just cant hit the high notes like he used to.
@@ronjessebeaulieu50008 He's hitting the notes ok, it just sounds off because George is singing off key underneath him. Which is fair, George is still relatively new to clean vocals and harmonizing with another singer is a difficult skill that takes time to develop.
