    I hunt, and Im not against using air rifles to hunt game. However, Im a firm believer that the caliber used should leave no doubt that it can produce as quick and painless a dispatch as possible. This video is not the example that other air rifle hunters should go by. Your projectile should give you confidence even during those shots that hit slightly off the mark. More size and weight may slow you down but it gives you better accuracy and room for error should it occur. Respect the game your after. If you must take somethings life, do it efficiently.

      @multi-hobbyist1568 9 лет назад +47

      Brian Conway I saw it. I dont believe the result to be typical. There are plenty of variables is shooting. It was a fine shot, on that day, made by an experienced marksman. Most people who watch these videos are trying to obtain knowledge about the capability of their air guns. Not everyone can shoot 100% on a 100% basis. I just hope people understand that and that my message to them is not diluted by the precision of this performance.

      @elmanitasdeplomo 9 лет назад +30

      Multi-Hobbyist I also occasionally hunt and I wholeheartedly agree with all you said.
      I really hope people don't go out trying this unless they are very experienced and have as much control over the conditions as in the video . It is however interesting to see what such a small pellet is capable of.

    A lot of controversy in regards to these pig videos. I don't see anything wrong with it. It's not like he's trying to kill a huge animal, not trying to hide anything, no tricks up his sleeve. A stand, in front of a feeder, using pellets to take small pigs and saving the arrows for a bigger animal that requires it. No wasted meat. Had his airgun zeroed in for the range he was hunting and obviously had it all figured out before he attempted it. I think it's pretty smart.

    • @yeahbee8237
      @yeahbee8237 9 лет назад +8

      just because you can doesn't mean you should, hunting should be about getting to the shot, not how you can shoot. and don't bring up that pigs are a pest and so on, even more reason to use a real calibre/rifle

    • @espressojoe
      @espressojoe 9 лет назад +47

      Really? They are pests, and the shot was clean, instant death... Also, by using a pellet gun, he saves a LOT of money on ammo. So why is everyone crying about it? Because he didn't do it by the books?!

    • @hamishb2194
      @hamishb2194 9 лет назад +15

      Bryan Heimann Agreed! He told people in the video the lengths he has gone to! He said he had the Gamo for the little eaters and the bow for any big hogs that came in! Noting wrong with it!!

    • @yeahbee8237
      @yeahbee8237 9 лет назад +1

      Hamish b if you shot a pig with a BB gun the purpose is just for laughs not getting rid of pests, you take a real gun so there is no doubt
      ffs I know people who still got BBs inside of them.

    • @spezz01
      @spezz01 9 лет назад +28

      Yeah Bee 1400 ft/s is ''considered a real gun'' and if you shoot like an idiot no matter what is the caliber you'll just hurt the beast. And this was not a plastic bb gun.

    There is something you have not considered I bet and that is using the 15gr and 16gr sold by
    Pyramid Air. I have found these super heavy pellets to out penetrate all the other lightweight 177 pellets. In addition for super long range shots ( for pellet rifles ) such as 75 yards to 150 yards and you will find that these heavy pellets drop only about half as much as the lighter pellets because of the hi weight, they dont slow down like a badminton shuttle.
    Be careful because some of the heavy 177 pellets are a few thousands larger and meant
    for PCP guns. Shoot ONLY H&N Sniper and the JSB EXACT 177 15gr and 16 gr pellets

    Yea I mean these air rifles are extremely potent, and the lead pellets do expand upon impact especially if they hit bone. Don't think you needed a brain shot to end a hawg that small but of course thats the humane way to do it.
    I wish someone would make a 2 round burst hunting rifle capable of 1600-1800 per round, that'd end anything under 400lbs with the right shot

    Multyhobbyist- I enjoyed your point of view. I'm new to airgunning. Im not sure if my new rifle is what it needs to be for a coyote. I'm not out to hunt them but here its a good chance I would see one and if opportunity arises may take one.
    But first, I bought hatsan 125 .22. It will hold 1/2" group at 50yd. With an 18gr pellet @ 825 fps will produce 26 fpe. If i put one right where it counts around 30 yds this rifle would be adequate? Confidently accurate, just wanna be sure I can drop one, even with superior accuracy.

      Linda Moon If you are a good shot and can place the pellet just above the lookers in a flat 90 degree angle, killing pigs is no problem with that rifle.
      I'm guessing that a shot placed through the ear lobe straight in would do the job also.
      I don't think a heart shot would be a good idea, too much bone to penetrate first.

      Solomon S. It is a break-barrel air rifle. The barrel is hinged at the stock and by bending it downward to cock, one compresses a spring (some air rifles use a gas piston instead of a steel spring), then one puts a pellet in the barrel breech, flips the barrel up to lock in back in position, and pulling the trigger releases the piston that forces air behind the pellet out the barrel.

    the reason the hog was twitching is because there is an immediate stop to the brain, so it takes a minute for it to stop.
