They will start retiring sometime next year. The Nova artics due to replace them were delayed until next year.

It is called a trolley bus, and they are also used in Dayton, OH as well as Vancouver and San Francisco, plus some European cities. They run on electricity and are greener and quieter than a diesel or hybrid bus.

They will still be around in the summer. And as for acquiring one from Septa, email them.

Nice, notice bus #7249. Is the problem coming from the engine? And nice catch of other buses as well NJ Transit buses.

Thank You! You have been very helpful. One last, rather silly question. You think SEPTA would be upset if someone took the front panel that says "NEOPLAN" on it that dangles from some buses. I think were the static tow lines are hidden. I would love to get one as a souvenir.

Contact someone at Septa about that. By the time next summer rolls around and some are retired, perhaps they might let you do that.

Will I be too late if I come to Philadelphia during summer of next year? How can I aquire one from SEPTA?

How long will the Neoplans be around. I NEED to ride one. They were like a drug to me. They gave me a high no other bus could give. Houston retired all of them :-( because of "age/mileage restrictions". One had less than 200,000 miles on it. For any bus of 12 or older that's great. I'm FEENING for one. If I had a CDL I'd buy one. maybe I can buy one from SEPTA in a couple years. Thanks for the video. The NFIs and NABIs are cool too, but NFIs dominate so many fleets it's hard to be excited.

Yeah those are the New Flyer E40LFR trackless trolleys. They replaced the old AMG's that Septa had up into the early 2000's.
