I’ve been watching since nearly day 1. Not sure if you’ll read this but here’s my take. This all used to be about a dude that was bucking the system, not living a traditional cubicle life and talking about why it made sense to him. You did stuff like poems about life and philosophical stuff. It was like we were watching someone who was doing what we all want to. I’ve watched you freeze your ass off in the truck camper. Watched you take care of your Grampa, met your sister, it was your personality that made it worth watching to a lot of people. There were girlfriends, tragedies, interesting characters, breakdowns, all sorts of stuff. It felt like a window into someone’s life. I know you don’t want to show personal stuff and there’s a lot of downsides to that but maybe some of that is also what people are interested in hearing about.
I personally do not care about the land videos. I like watching your day to day life.
Good time to get a job that pays ! I quess.

I agree that driving the area in showing properties gets old for you and others, however, knowing you are looking to move, start NOW getting your current property ready. Start now creating your piles of what goes to dump and what goes to new property. Start now tearing down structures, taking down fences, etc, SHOW you are doing something for the move when you do find property. Share what your decision process is for others facing similiar challenges. THAT is life, but with a purpose. People want to see you making progress, start now SHOWING your progress. It's hot, work early in the morning or late into the evening, but do something to show you are taking action. Shop for your land off camera, on camera start now preparing for your move.

A little advice. Sell that high desert land and drive to rural Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi. Or north Florida. You can buy land very cheap if you really look. Yes you will have more people, but the people are amazing and the towns are very historical. Weather is mild in the winters with hardly no snow. If it does snow it’s gone by noon the next day. There is nobody in some of these rural areas. Your neighbor may be 3-4 miles away or more. I just found 18 acres in Alabama for $38,000 full of mature pines. You can cut half the trees and pay for the land. No restrictions, no building permits. Your land, you do what you like. Plus you are close to the gulf that has some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. North Florida has a lot of owner finance land. Very little to nothing down and so much a month. You can get a part time job at the feed mill in a small town to help out with any bills. I been following you since the early Van days. You need a change. Living in the middle of no where is cool if you have a partner, but you need to be able to drive 10 miles into town and have coffee with the guys at the local diner. You need people to network with. The swamps of southern Louisiana is full of remote land, but you will not find nicer people than the Cajuns. My buddy lives on a cheap house in the swamps around Pierre Part. He takes his Jon Boat to town where he works part time at a boat builders shop. He makes $20 bucks a hour just helping around the shop. He works Monday,Tuesday, Wednesday and makes $480 bucks a week. Parks his $200 Jon boat behind the shop in the swamp. He can drive his boat up the river into town and a short walk to the store. Then he runs his boat back to his houseboat about 7-8 miles into the swamp. Nobody bothered him. He could work 6 days a week if he wanted. But he lives like a king on his 34 foot houseboat. He moves it every few months just because he can. People stop by and give him fish and craw dad all the time. He catches his own fresh water for showers and dishes. Maybe you are looking for land in the wrong places. People don’t realize how remote parts of the south really is. You seem very unsettled out there all alone. Be nice to meet a few southern Bells…lol. But seriously, give the Southeast a try, you may be surprised how well you like it. Plus if you need money it’s much easier to find a job part time so you are not 100% depending on RUclips for an income. Farmers would love to have a guy like you park your RV on one of there farms and work part time or full time. My buddy had a big Peanut farm in south Alabama. They have like 5-6 different farms. They would hire you in a minute to park at a farm, feed cattle and run a tractor for harvest or planting. Leave me a comment if you want to work for a boat building company in Louisiana. You could park your RV at his shop. He would love someone there at night. Or if you want to work on a cattle/peanut farm in Alabama. I can make a couple phone calls. You can still do RUclips, just takes the pressure off if you have other money coming in. Just something to think about. 🇺🇸🦅🐊 You have a lot to offer, you just need the right connections. I can help you if you like.

Mike, the next time you go into town, bring your camera and let your viewers see what you do when you leave camp, we want to know where you travel outside your camp, show the store where you shop, and point out older buildings with some history. You're a likable guy take advantage of the lol. people want to see a little more than just the inside of your camper.
You will never please everybody all the time, just be you, you're funny and interesting.

I look forward to your videos daily! If you need more content do some of your cooking videos, or the repair videos are always cool. We really haven't even started our youtube channel really. We're in a similar position. Living on a tiny urban homestead growing in pots, building out a vehicle to go search for our perfect property, building a homestead (possibly off grid) on the property, growing our own food & herbal remedies, also photograph old barns, and old farms, and wildlife photography and videography. Where do we start, how will we have the same folks at the beginning of our journey, still be interested in what's to come. People watching me build out an adventure vehicle aren't gonna give a damn about property, homesteading, herbalremedies etc... So we're either looking at multiple youtube channels for each phase of our journey (listed above), or finding super loyal fans to tune in once a week and push us forward. Our channel will grow and shrink as we change into each phase I imagine. Like yours is now (IMO). We're our own brand and we're gonna have fun regardless. I'm not going anywhere, keep up the good work man.
Maybe people watch your land vids so much because they are hoping to see you find your new home. Once you are doing and showing more off grid/ homestead projects, things will pick up. I know its hard to have exciting content when you are in a holding pattern looking for land. Life feels like that for us right now. We are selling and moving too but waiting for this house to sell has us doung a whole lot of hurry up and wait.

🦉 Begging your pardon but how does one truly expect to make ends meet without a regular full-time job? After the pandemic wages increased significantly affording one the ability to save money creating a most beneficial financial nest egg. Considering your living arrangements you’d benefit greatly maintaining a frugal lifestyle.
We have been struggling with RUclips for almost 5 years...July 19 will be 5 years. I understand the struggle. No skin, no drama...lol bit we have just 'kind of' been picked up by the algorithm. We love sharing our Tennessee waterfall/camping/hiking videos...but we are spinning our wheels. Numbers seem to be trending up since November, so I am pretty excited. Lol We are not in your league at all, but we keep digging. I really wish we had 1k views in 6 hours. We keep uploading. Our genre is just saturated. I really hope the cream rises to the top. Lol RUclips cut the CPM a couple of years ago to make "shorts" monetized. That really hurt. I do love watching your videos...but maybe show us destinations. I have watched your older videos and you were traveling. Maybe think about being a nomad again. Come to Middle Tennessee, you can camp in our yard and we will take you on some exciting adventures! Keep plugging away, the cream will rise!!

The unfortunate reality of making “content for profit” on RUclips, is that there’s wayyy more competition on RUclips (and other copycat sites) than there was back in 2007 when YT first began offering Adsense. Also, while RUclips’s claims about paying out ever more Adsense money year over year, that increased amount is being divided by 10s of 1000s of additional “new” context creators a/k/a at the end of the day, there’s only so much money to go around.

I've been watching your channel for a really long time and I was happy you came back after being gone for so long but if you've lost the passion to make videos then that's fine. You gotta do what makes you happy. All I know is that I've enjoyed watching your content over the years. I will continue to enjoy your content as long as you keep making it but at the end of the day the choice to keep making videos or not is entirely up to you.

Mike, I recently discovered that you are uploading in this channel again. I have been watching you again, as usual, on my TV, which I never log into. So, I usually play videos of favorite channels on other devices, as well, just to interact. That means, hitting the Like button and posting comments.
I also let commercials play on each device, just to support you guys. I don't do it for those corporate channels that have too much influence on RUclips. And I only skip the videos I don't like, especially the unreasonably long ones, or if they interrupt the video too much.

Please rebuild your channel. Sadly, a lot of nomads have quit uploading and many left their homes on wheels for a stoic life. As for the latter, Trent and Allie are the only ones I watch.
It is Summer, so please understand that a lot of people in the Northern Hemisphere are outside doing outdoorsy stuff.
Best click bait is drama. It sucks, but says a lot about the mentality of people for being so easily lured by the promise of negativity .
As much as I live the land videos, what I really want from you is for you to bring on your sense of humor and your own perspective. I also miss the elequant narration as you share the scenery while you do mike stuff.
You might find some sort of side gig for passive, or semi-passive income.
Ausia has an extra channel that is dedicated to the gardening and landscaping of her property.
Please don't give up. You may need to be more creative, but remember that you are the main attraction to your channel. That includes stuff you do, like Cooking With Mike, Mike's Rants, Mike builds out his shaded camp spot at Slab City.
And you don't need to show your property hunting videos at all, or until after you find the one you want and close the deal.

Once you get your new land, you'll probably get a lot of views when you start improving the land. Those videos seem to do well for youtubers. Don't get discouraged.
I think people just like seeing you look for land they don’t want to land you’re looking at so much but if you do happen to find that you like, I would post it later after you purchased it. Secondly you can’t give up because you and nomad fanatic are the reasons I started my channel and I have one follower.
I always give a thumbs up first thing. I don't care for the land videos. Sorry I think they are boring and too long. I'd like to watch you do regular stuff. Cleaning...cooking. I did like it when you had Sober and you use to travel around to the different camp places. I really liked those days. Once you get your new land it will be more interesting seeing how you make it your new home. Those videos will be good Hang in there.

I'm not a believer in building an audience before creating content. A once younger me tried that at my first corp job and during a presentation I was told "we're not here to watch paint dry" by a higher up that made time to be there... I admit I was very unprepared and lost interest to those I needed. "Build it and they will come." My advice to you is to sit down and give a lot of thought of what things YOU want to do. Have a strategy, mark up your calendar of the diff things you want to showcase ... have many different topics for the peaks and the low times of YT. "If you fail to plan, plan to fail" ... blah blab blah, but it's true. If you do what you love, you'll never work a day in your life. Have that mentality. If nobody follows, then it's not meant to be. As you like to say, "It is what it is". Best of luck to you!
Not meant to hurt feelings, but rants and drama are not my thing. Therefore, I let the video run until it's finished while I go do something else. I like videos where you're doing something, whether it's visiting with friends, looking at land and explaining why it works or doesn't work (this is helpful to me, seriously), or doing things around your property, even if all that is is cleaning up. I'm a new subscriber, since you "came back". I didn't see your old videos/channel, so all I'm going by is current videos.
All of that being said, I'm aware that YT encourages creators to exaggerate and use clickbait to encourage people to watch their channels. Even the really big channels do that. It's a sad commentary on today's intelligence levels, if you ask me. lol Just be you.
Never give up hope Mike. You being yourself is the best thing you can be. Great things are always around the next corner!

I like the RV travel and homesteading combined, keep trucking on land keep it quiet. Do some boondocking and get a puppy. Take lots of time for yourself. We are here.
So with RUclips, consistency doesn't necessarily mean a video every day. My sister's channel only puts out a video a week. Another guy I watch puts out daily videos (sometimes 3 or 4😂), but they short and focused on a single topic. It's the high quality content that will draw your community. You'll find your groove. 😊✌️

2 months isn't enough time to give up. You were gone so long so it's going to take time to get back to where you were back then. It takes work and you need to put that work back into it. If you can put the work in you'll get there. Giving up isn't going to get you anywhere. I always watch and give a thumbs up👍

Maybe check and see what it would take to get your realtors license. Since properties you show seem to sell fairly quickly, you could be getting half of that commission. When you finally do find what you’re looking for and start working on it, I’m sure you will gain some views when you’re doing your homesteading.
