The comedy store west-coasters and hipsters have completely wrecked the entire American comedy scene. It's more like slam poetry now. Also worth noting that late night comedy shows and stand-up comedy overall are both pretty archaic anyway at this point.

@@jamesmcgee7723 The latter, preferably, if only because I don't pay a "TV license fee." Not sure about the American audience understanding it better though. Besides, few things in life are more amusing than something that is so unironic that it becomes extremely so, like the current state of the world, so the success of such a remake would be called into question, sure. But I'd enjoy it.

Me too! I miss 'Black Books', and often wondered how closely the personalities of the characters paralleled the actors in 'real life' (whatever *that* is). ; )
It was a Channel 4 comedy, not BBC (I re-watched the whole thing recently on the Channel 4 online player, 4OD). However if it was screened in the US it would have been on BBC America as they show programmes from other British television channels too.
