BTW, I'm 85 yes old, a former sewer, quilter, crocheter just starting collage. I am enjoying this more than anything I've done because of the "no rules" concept.
I think the message is to make work what can, be careful and mindful in the moment, and then think about things afterward to put the pieces together; to go slowly when finding what I'm looking for, and then to rock when I feel the vibe.
I love cutting, but I love arranging and rearranging even more. Sometimes it all comes together almost instantly. Sometimes I spend hours auditioning pieces. Collage is therapy for me and it nourishes my soul. I love your collages from today!
I really love the fact that your collages are simple (you are not afraid of white space list most artists) yet complex at the same time. You create a mindful crazy collective of images. I've been collecting images to try to create a gluebook or junk journal with (without any luck of finished product) and now I'm thinking this might be a much more fun and creative way to go. My work space is really limited for painting and there are way too many tools needed for "mixed media". Your collages, however, have offered me a fun, colorful, expressive option. Thank you very much for sharing. I really can't wait to dive in.
I love fussy cutting. It is very relaxing. What I find most frustrating is figuring out a simple storage system for cut but not yet used images. These are very clever collages. Thanks for sharing.
I like the one-color collages. It makes the collages more cohesive. I like the whole process of collaging. Cutting is my favorite and my least favorite would be gluing. This was another fun collage video!
For me it's actually the complete opposite. I don't really enjoy the hunting part, I get easily overwhelmed and want to do everything at once. Cutting is also a bit stressful sometimes, depends on the level of detail. I actually love the end stage the most. The final putting together and actually gluing the piece. It gives me a great sense of completion and almost piece of mind 😊 Loved the two collages btw, the color challenge is a really cool idea 👍
Ah! I totally can see how you could very easily get overwhelmed. I love all the eye candy haha. Right, being able to complete a piece is a really nice feeling. Thanks for sharing!
I love the red one. When putting the blue one together, I so wanted to see the big whale at the bottom. When it comes to the whole process, my least favourite is fussy cutting,. Thank you. I look forward to every one of your videos!
My favorite part is definitely arranging because thats when I'm playing and the surprise from what you thought it would be to what it actually becomes happens. My least favorite part is gluing because I'm so scared I'm gonna mess up the final version and make it crooked or something, but cutting can definitely suck sometimes. All in all 10/10 experience.
I feel like another commenter, hunting is overwhelming and cutting is not my strong point but I love gluing. I don’t even care what or when I’m gluing I just love it lol. I love the way the paper transforms when something is glued on it, and the new texture and everything about it. I watched your glues video first lol that is how I found your channle and I’m glad I did!
Thumbs up for todays colour collages. 👍 Do not like gluing. Love cutting out. Collect tons of images and cut them out when in teams meetings. It helps me to concentrate. 🤓
love these 2 layouts! for me, I enjoy finding different or older magazines to harvest, like finding all the images, and really like fussy cutting. there really isn't anything that I don't like, but I struggle with figuring out backgrounds. I also tend to overthink what goes together. you are an inspiration though cuz now when I look at images, I don't just see a stove, but a stove that can open and stuff like that. and that's been a lot of fun. 😊
sometimes i find the intricate cutting out super stressful but my favourite part is that i time stamp the back of the collage so in the future i can look over and see my progress!
Rosie I'd give anything to have your imagination! We never did collage in art classes when I was in high school. I wish we did, cuz I just don't think like that. Your 2 collages today are amazing, as usual TYFS Cindy
Love the one color idea&being so creative playful in your collages really sparks new idea. Cutting images is great therapy, then arranging when I'm choosing from 100's of options in front me spurs so many memories& ideas. To make a permanent decision once glued to not be able to re use that image again is the hardest part for me...but I've found as an artist I used to save all my best things, clay, pencils, markers, paper, images & before you know it, years of your life has passed. Instead of enjoying your cream of the crop supplies to make spectacular creations, like your images are so cool!, but I would use the other ones up first. I am now going to start with my absolute favorites of everything really enjoying the nuturing being true to oneself giving permission to use it all however the inner soul wants to express itself. Thankyou for divine inspiration today reminding me to live my passion of imagination thru creative art😃👩🏼🎨!!!
My favorite part has changed over the years; cutting used to be super relaxing for me, but with the chronic pain in my wrist and arthritis in my fingers, using scissors makes my hands hurt quite quickly. For that reason, I've mostly switched to digital only. Because of this switch, my favorite part is now looking for free images to use, photoshopping them (mostly removing backgrounds and doing color/lighting adjustments to make it all more cohesive), and deciding on the layout.
My favorite part of collage is arranging the elements I've chosen until I get what I want. I also like the hunt but tend to spend way too much time on it, LOL. My least favorite part, by far, is the fussy cutting.
Rosie really likes mushrooms. I too hate gluing them on because I'm afraid of failure. The most interesting time for me is when I'm putting the pieces together and thinking about the composition. I started doing collage after watching your video. Thank you so much! I love your work this time❤💙
I love the eureka moment when you get your images and find a great way of fitting them all together. Worst part is the glueing for me and also deciding on a title as all my collages have a story or a message.
the reason i love to collage is because i love and hate all aspects of it all at once, lol 🥰 i recommend grafix artist-tac for gluing. it basically makes your cutouts into stickers & it doesnt wrinkle when sealing the finished piece. test out your techniques with it & youll love it. i dont use glues anymore, lol ❤️
Fun idea! I'm gonna try this! My favorite part of the process is looking for the pictures to put together and coming up with the idea, putting the pieces I have found together. The part I hate is cutting them out.
Cutting is my favorite and then building my scene with all my pieces is 2nd. Hunting for images is a little overwhelming for me, I tend to overthink and I start looking for very specific things instead of creating something out of what I have.
I'm rather surprised by this but my favorite part is cutting out objects, while my least favorite is gluing. Since watching your videos I'm starting to think in a whole new way about collaging. I now think in terms of a theme and focal point. Also not necessarily using an entire image but maybe just a piece or parts of an image. I like that new idea of gluing pieces together top down. I think I'll try it.
Love the skulls on your shelf. 💀 Red is one of my favourite colours. 😊👍 I love the Red and blue Collages... 👍❤💙 and I think this one colour challenge is fun. 😊👍
PS, I haven't done a lot of collage yet.... but my favourite part of the process is collecting the images. and my least favourite is the glueing - so, same as you. 😉
Cool collages. My favorite part is the cutting and the arranging. The cutting is heavily influenced by all the hours I spent cutting out paper dolls as a kid - both the commercial kind and the Sears catalog kind. The arranging is probably influenced by past forays into quilting and jewelry making. Gluing is absolutely my least favorite. I always manage to stick together 2 things that weren't supposed to be stuck together. That sounds like a technique problem, doesn't it. Always enjoy your videos.
Thanks for the inspiration Rosie. My least favorite part is cutting. Especially the intricate stuff like noses on faces on smaller images. They usually get a free nose job lol 😂.
Liked both the blue and red collage, however, my favorite was the red. My least favorite is figuring out a layout. So, I just tell myself, "This is suppose to be fun...just do it! So, there you go a masterpiece 😊
These both turned out really cute and fun. I do have a question though. Are the books you have behind you all that you have? I have so many books and magazines that it actually becomes overwhelming. If that is all you have I am very impressed.
Yep! That bookshelf is the only one I have. I try to keep my collection on the smaller side and am pretty picky with what I bring into my space so I don't get overwhelmed. Moving last year helped clear out a lot of things!
I don’t do collages, but I adore watching you create them. I’m creative in other ways…..I like making things basically. I’m currently following a sewing journey, where I hate cutting out the paper patterns….it can take me ages and I’m always eager to get to the sewing part.
That’s how I glue things! I didn’t know it was a thing, I get very overwhelmed with too many pieces so making them into less individual parts helps. My fave part is having the elements I want to use and figuring out how to incorporate them, least fave is gluing.
I love the arranging and glueing down of the pieces... So glad you had a go at the 'top down' glueing method I mentioned... I don't enjoy the hunting so much as my organising is rather chaotic at the moment and as much as I love fussy cut items I don't like doing it as it hard on my hands as I have arthritis in them. I love your colour challenge collages they are good fun 😁😁❤️💙
@@eastofhoney ha ha 😂😂 I can't remember how long a go it was... But it may have been just after your short break... It may have been the first video then, possibly!? I like this method as you don't lose where you've placed each piece and it's very satisfying laying the whole piece down in one go at the end. 😁😁💖 My name is Elaine BTW 😊😊
Love the collages 🥰 It would be cool to see one for each of the other colors. My favorite part of collage is cutting, so relaxing. The next best thing is putting the images together.
Favorite part is finding a spectacular image(s) but then fearing to ruin it with glue! I stopped using Mod Podge for that reason and went back to glue sticks. I also like the double sided tape for big backgrounds. Questions: When you find a favorite image do you ever make copies? Would you use antique images or copy them for use?
This is a great question! I don't own a printer so I've never considered this, but if I got one I would definitely want to try to duplicate things. But I also like to go with the flow and love being limited to only the physical images in front of me.
I'll email you when I get past the Congo bypass. Just missed getting in, but Zimbabwe was super quick. Thinking, maybe New Hampshire for newspaper, next week.
Would love more color challenges, those two came out great. I love the hunting for pieces and I dont mind the gluing, I absolutely hate cutting. Great ideas. You're the best

My least favorite part is fussy cutting - blech, between it being tedious, it can be painful. My favorite part is everything else hunting for images, arraigning and rearraigning images and gluing. I was kind of hoping you'd try out the robot riding upon the whale, I think that might have been funny.
Can I help you out with a challenge?I’m thinking ( Subscriber sends me random materials) I could find you stuff and ship them to you I think it would be so fun!
i hate cutting things out 🥲 its so easy for me to accidentally cut an important bit off. i love arranging the pieces, tho, experimenting with different combos and different compositions

how funny--I also just made a monochrome collage for the first time this week. Love what you came up with! I find gluing the relaxing part.

I was kind of hoping you'd try out the robot riding upon the whale, I think that might have been funny.
Lol didn't think of that!

i hate cutting things out 🥲 its so easy for me to accidentally cut an important bit off. i love arranging the pieces, tho, experimenting with different combos and different compositions
The great thing about collage is you can always glue the pieces back together!!
