Play non + is our best kept secret when you just want to MIDI sequence. I have read the next update will allow for MIDI perf, so this is going to be a game changer imo. I've managed to get under the hood of my Nord 3P Drum and control panning to some seriously good effect. I think this is my most powerful and intuitive sequencer I have used yet, and I have had maybe around 20? Price wise vs feature, it's on of the cheapest too. I still have my Polyend SEQ and that was more than double what I paid for my PE Play.
No doubt, its an absolute beast! MIDI perf is the only thing I've been missing from the Play since launch, I would be so excited to have that added! I know a lot of people are upset with the whole play+ launch, but I just don't really care about play+ that much because I'm super happy with the OG play still
@@keeganwills yeah the + is actually detrimental when it comes to MIDI as the 3 synth engines use the external MIDI tracks, well share. Not interested in synth engines or samples, MIDI tracks is where it's at but the samples is a bonus. Audio over USB is a great feature for the + but again I am not interested in the Groove box aspects of the unit.
@@dankeplace totally agree. I would rather have more tracks to sequence full featured synths and other gear, rather than some condensed plug-ins with a not great ui on the play+
@@keeganwills if you're smart, you can have more than 8 MIDI tracks as each note or step can have its own MIDI channel. So in essence 16 steps can be 16 MIDI channels on 1 track. Then you have 7 other MIDI tracks lol. I know it's not ideal to do it this way but 1 track could have 2 MIDI channels if this makes sense? Just means you need to stagger notes. Cool thing is you don't interrupt MIDI channel 1 notes with MIDI channel 2 info. 64 steps can net you 2 32 step sequences at half time. I have sort of worked it all out in my head as I was playing around with the Nord 3P which can use up to 6 channels of MIDI, so you have to get creative and that's what I love abt PE Play, it's pretty flexible.
@@dankeplace that sounds like a wild setup man. It's definitely super flexible. I've used it a lot to sequence my MPC because the MPC basically has as many MIDI channels as you need, so that gives you a ton of options with the play as the controller
Thanks! The perform mode on the Play can't control MIDI unfortunately :( But the play is sequencing the volca. I am using the Gen Loss as performance FX for the volca though, so that's where the filtering and stuff on the drums is coming from
Well done! 👏 Love the performance effects combined with the Gen Loss
Thanks so much! I just got my tracker mini yesterday, so expect to see more good stuff repping the polyend gear! ❤️
Straight gas🗣️🔥
Thanks brother🤌
What ever is making those pads and synth tones is the star of the show for me here! Sounds lovely!
Thanks man! The pads are reversed electric piano samples on the Play, and the synth tones are a combination of samples and the volca drum

The beginning, middle and end…. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🫡💪🏼
Thanks my friend! I always appreciate your support❤️❤️
Cool So the live preform is controlling the volca?
