- Pull up your boots boys, because we are getting deep into the weeds of parameter locking, layered sounds, conditional trigs, and more necessary tricks to the Elektron workflow. Most of these tricks are applicable to all of the Elektron boxes (Syntakt, Digitone, Digitakt, etc.) as they use the same terminology and sequencer focused workflow.
EDITS: I said five tips in the video, but I actually meant six. Also, I said I would put the Syntakt project file on my patreon, but I have no idea how to do that, so any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Great video! Yes, we want more SYNTAKT content🤟
Thanks man, I can do that for sure!
I’ve been googling how to randomise on the syntakt for ages, cheers for clearing this up!
Glad you found it useful!
Mastering the use of the LFOs on the digis/syntakt is one of the fundamental areas of creative potential which allow one to distinguish their sound from others, and IMHO elevate these machines to what I'd call "instruments"... Not all electronic gear gets this medal from me, no siree.
Totally agree, if you aren't using the lfos, you're not using the elektron boxes to their fullest
nice man, tips are on point and the lighting and aesthetic is flawless
Thanks man! I was really proud of the lighting on this one, so I'm thrilled that you liked it
Such a great content! I hope you will get more recognition!
Thanks a lot! Very nice tricks with randomising. Will watch more about syntakt with pleasure. Good luck with a channel!
This is a fantastic tutorial and tips. Subscribed!
Thanks man! I appreciate it!!
Fantastic video, gave me a bunch of ideas to try out.
Thanks man, hopefully you can make something cool with those ideas!
Excellent randomize trick!
Great video!
Thanks man!
I learned a couple things in here, thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching, I'm glad you learned something!
Got the video suggested by YT - and left a subscription. Good tips, nice tune 🤩🙌
Thanks mate! Glad you enjoyed!
I got my Syntakt a month ago and have unlocked about 35% of its potential. Your video helped me unlock another 35%, thanks so much! Great vid, great track, fantastic walk-through!! Would totally pay to take a zoom course with you, if you've ever thought about hosting any! I know this vid is a great course, but stopping to ask questions live would be rad, so let me know if that's ever something you'd consider! Keep up the great work!
Cool! I need part 2 🔥
Thanks bro, I'm working on it
really usefull tricks, thank you !
nice techniques off the beaten "review" path! i've owned so many elektron devices and think the syntakt is underrated at the moment for sound design.
Thanks man! And I totally agree. It's an undersung hero for sure
Love that you have fender cables, cable game is underrated aspect of music making/GAS..also cool ideas about the chord machine
Thanks man! For sure it is. High quality utilities like cables, power supplies, etc. are super necessary for clean sounding audio. 👌
"Sick" randomize tips man! :D Depending on the snare sound, on ghost notes i usually lock a highpass filter too on the snare. Might even gently LFO the filter to vary the snare sound. Anyways, i'm back on the syntakt after watching this. Subd.
That's a good idea, I'll have to try that. Thanks for the sub! :)
Randomization is cool but I'm still waiting for a function like e.g. OPAL from FORS (m4l tool) has integrated.
Great video, really useful stuff. New subscriber!
Thanks friend! ❤️
Great video! Subbed. More Syntakt continent plz!
Thanks! Will do!
Hey, brother
I’m glad that you’re doing more videos on syntakt 🎉
I need your expert opinion whether my patterns is boring for you
I’m using GH5 too but need some more lights
Your picture is just a smooth painting ❤
Your patterns are sick bro, ADHD Alien in particular was super dope.
As far as your picture quality, I think it looks really good, but you definitely need more light. If you use more light, than you can change settings in your camera more. For example, you can raise the aperture, or f/, to create a bigger depth of field, meaning that more of your shot can be in focus.
Thanks for your kind words! :)
@@keeganwills Thanks, K
I saved your advice to notes and will think about it. I'm thinking about adding some color lights like aputure mc pro or sm5c, which is led strip with programing of pixels. In the shots I use an ND filter to make it not so much bright. So dim atmosphere is really the thing for me. Maybe a just want to play with variations to make the difference from video to video.
I'll be happy to have your advices on my future videos.
Also diffenetly wanting more videos about Syntakt from you. Especially on unexplored terra of FX channel and it's sequencing.
@@zmickeylangelo if you want a crisp clean image, use a lot of lighting, and then edit the colors in your video editing software afterwards to make it feel dark and whatever vibe you want.
And I can sure work on some more syntakt content. Thanks for being here brother. :)
It is hard to get really cool sounds out of it, specially the hats and chord machine (which are pretty much the same as in the cycles), not crazy about the snare either, although I enjoy using the inputs to sequence external synths.
It's pretty specific in its uses for sure, but I like the limitations personally. I also find that it plays well with other sounds and other gear.
I really hope they add a few more machines/synth engines to it, it has a fairly strong sonic palette but still pales in comparison to the monomachine’s sonic variety. It can definitely get a lot of the fm sounds, metallic sounds, and the drums sound great and I don’t think they need to expand the kicks or percussion anymore, but the chord engine feels super weak and there are only a few wave positions I find pleasant within the chord engine, longer pads tend to get grating even with a lot of automation and I tend to replace the chords in ableton with a vst whenever I finish the track up.
If they added super rudimentary sample support I think that would be amazing but I don’t think they will, they seem to like keeping their boxes all divided in terms of features these days and I think they would (wrongly imo) think that a basic sample engine would eat into digitakt sales.
Another polyphonic style engine would be a dream, maybe one that’s fm based or something a bit more out there like granular synthesis (though that would probably mean loading samples onto the device which it currently doesn’t support)
The addition of portamento definitely was one of the biggest updates they’ve done for it thus far and lets me make quirky hyperpop style arpeggios.
I wish there were more machines as well, and I wouldn't count out the possibility. Elektron is really good at supporting their devices for years after release. Personally, I tend to use the syntakt primarily for drums because it clearly excels at that, and then I use other synths or instruments for other sounds later. Sample support would be cool, but I doubt that would happen.
Great tutorial! Did you do the lofi beat playing between the chapters on the Syntakt as well?
Thanks friend! Yeah, I make all the music in my videos! :)
At first I was like 😒 but then I was like🤔 and then I was like 😍
I'm glad you stuck around to see where it went! 😄
Has anyone encountered huge amounts of noise only in overbridge?
When using headphones or the audio out, the signal is super clean and there’s no audible noise, but when I use overbridge in ableton, every track has a ton of noise and the volumes of the tracks are so much lower than if I record the audio out through my interface, so adding gain just increases the noise with it.
I reached out to elektron and saw some other people post about it but the solution elektron gave was to turn the overdrive all the way up on the fx channel, which does seem to reduce the noise weirdly but then it of course adds a ton of overdrive to everything that’s going through the fx track and that shouldn’t be the solution I’m looking for, because if that’s the only solution overbridge is kind of not an option for recording. Idk if anyone else has figured out a solution to this issue because my old syntakt recordings through overbridge never had this issue but recently I’ve been trying to bring tracks over from my syntakt to ableton and it’s been kind of a nightmare to use overbridge and I just had to use my interface and solo each track and record manually which is a hassle in its own way.
I haven't really used overbridge, so I haven't had that problem. That sounds really frustrating though.
that's a weird one. I've been multi-tracking in OB and haven't run into that. The volumes are a little on the low side but no noise issues on my end.
I've noticed noise on the FX track, so I declared bankruptcy on the FX track and decided to not use it. I've only been using it for fake side chaining anyway.
