Great tribute mate , He absolutely was a legend of a man , Came down to Cairns North Queensland Australia fishing for Marlin every year in the 1970’s he kicked around town drinking in the local Pubs when not out on the Reef and everyone loved him.
Hats off to Mr Marvin. Another one of The. Greatest. Generation. Rest in Peace Sir. Rest in peace. Just learned also of Charles Bronson’s service in WWII as well. Both were hero’s. Would love to see Hollywood produce a special or documentary on the actors that served our country. But I’m afraid that Hollywood would be too woke for that task.
Marvin was a heavy smoker that got cancer like most. I don't know why Marvin had PFC on his market except at his Discharge from WW II, yet he later served as technical director and spokesman for military training and recruiting films. He was an NCO or non-commissioned officer and should have been afforded the accolades. It was probably his idea as he always downplayed his accomplishments and did not want the public to think of him as a hero which he was while at the same time known for a little drinking from time to time during his mid-career.
As a kid, I saw Marvin in The Wild One - starring Brando.

Interesting. Makes sense that he would downplay his rank.
he was demoted for his behavior.
You skipped an excellent movie - The Professionals.
Way too young to go.
One of the most badass motherfuckers to stomp the terra. He will always be missed!
