If I remember right. Either a radio station or the band had contest and the winner got Shinedown to perform in his living room. And the reason they did a cover of this song. Was because their guitarist at the time was dating one of Skynrds members daughters.
Brent Smith is one of the most talented singers in rock today. He does a lot of acoustic covers with Zack Myers, his guitarist, that are phenomenal. They're called the Acoustic Covers. His cover of In The Air Tonight is brilliant.
💯 seen them live and Brent killed it love sounded better than the album. He opened up with simple man and 45 on acoustic. They opened for Metallica and killed it. Was crazy.
This is by far the best cover of this song. When you have people from skynard days, liking this much better... you know you got something great to offer the world !
Brent is a great singer, but he's also a good dude. We used to hang out together until he joined Shinedown. I've only seen him twice in the past 10 years, but he's still a cool down to earth guy. I knew at 15 years old he would go far. Proud of him.
This is probably my favorite covers of all time. And I’ve seen this band live twice and both times, they played this live and it is performed acoustic and it’s freaking awesome.
I've been to see Shinedown four times so far. I splurged for the VIP tickets once and got to meet them and they did three songs acoustic including this song. They are amazing and I can't recommend seeing them live enough.
If I remember correctly, they are actually at a random fans house that won some kind of contest or something. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure it's along those lines.
This reminds me of being a kid at Mom and Dad's. There was a guy that played with Chet Atkins Band way back in the day. In summertime when they were touring and played in Detroit, he and couple more guitarists would attend a BBQ next door and we'd sit out back and enjoy the afternoon into the evening. It was country music, being Chet Atkins, but there is something about sitting next to someone who is "that" talented and hearing them, first-hand and in person. :)
Man Brent is amazing man. I watched them open up for Metallica years ago. First song was just him singing like this and he lit the stadium up with simple man and 45. People we're mesmerized. His voice is crazy. Even Metallica said they stole the show. Love Shinedown!
Smith and Myers are the Lead Singer and lead guitarist of Shinedown and they now do a ton of acoustic versions of songs....they really rock and sound awesome!!
I think, after seeing your reaction to this, you would enjoy Smith & Myers Acoustic Sessions. Smith and Myers are from Shinedown and they perform acoustic covers of some of the biggest songs ever! Everything from Phil Collins to Adele! I love the clean simple sound of these covers. Just a great voice and pure acoustic guitar.
YES👏👏👏👏 U FINALLY DID IT!!!!! I've been requesting this forever!!! I know everybody prefers the Skynard original & I have nothing but ❤ for Skynard!!! I just think this guy has a wonderful voice😍 THANK U SO MUCH TY❤ for finally doing this one, u should listen to me more often😉
Do "Save Me" by Shinedown. It showcases his range and is a great warning song about the depths of addiction, especially the line about "the hardest question".
Awesome song!!! That guitarist in that video save me totally not sure what happened to em but he was awesome!!! Anyways this guy in this video sort of looks like 50 lbs lighter i always jad wondered was it him on was on H!!!! Just a thought!! I
Yeah, this guy really did an awesome job with this (and every song I've heard him sing) song! Please consider reacting to "I Dare You" by Shinedown. It's honestly my absolute favorite of theirs, though they have a lot of other good ones too.
Never will there be a frontman with the power presents and coolness like Mr. Ronnie Van Zant!!! He run a tight ship leading Lynyrd Skynyrd to the short 4 yrs of music they give us before the plane crash October 20th 1977 at 645 pm in Mississippi thats the day my heart broke i was 6 yrs old!! No one does a Skynyrd song not even little brother Johnny!!! Ronnie Van Zant was Lynyrd Skynyrd along with Allen Collins, Bob Burns, Leon Wilkinson, Billy Powell, Steve Gaines and Cassie Gaines, JoJo Billingsley, Gary Rossington, Leslie Hawkins, Artimus Pyle!!! Fly on Freebirds!!!! RIP all those who have flown on!!🦅🎸🦅
I’m so glad you did this! I requested it a while back. They did several more songs on this “ In my house” series. You should react to some of them, or at least treat yourself by giving them a listen. You won’t regret it.
What an amp behind the dude and they got it inside the house... the thing can knock every screw and nail loose if they wanted to. But check out the band Kix doing "Don't Close Your Eyes." It's badass
Shinedown's acoustic version of Simple Man is probably the only cover I've ever heard that I think is ever so slightly better than the original and I love Lynyrd Skynyrd! Brent Smith is an amazing singer!
It doesn't matter how he sings this it gives me chills and it's also a prayer for my brothers from our mom she's always prayed for all of us to go have a good life n never forget where we came from make things better for your own but still pass down the morals and values
I be like Micky D's.......lovin it!, finally a song I love, you have been on a "requested" roll of songs that don't float my boat...I love me some goose bumps....Dimash K...play anything of his you haven't heard yet...I have worn out my play list on all his current...last 13 or more months...now watching and listening to his childhood stuff...
Sawyer Frederick's won the voice a few seasons back. He does this song and he actually did a damn good job. Nowhere near this level but he was definitely impressive. Only 15, too. If you want, maybe react to that. Love your channel, by the way.
Brent's vocals are an 11 out of ten but listen to the guitar as well. Way better than you should even expect.great choice in guitars. Between his buddy playing and the sound of that guitar. They nailed the sound and the emotion 👍
I would have to give the edge to Bo Steele. Plus he was singing with a dip and that's difficult to do!! lol I would like for to listen to him singing Victory in Jesus while sitting in a hospital waiting room. God Bless
I still want to hear you react to *Simple Man* by *Charlie Daniels* which is an entirely different song than this one although they do share the same song title
Taps Mugadza sings his original song "Sober." Amazing song and would love to hear your reaction! Thank you for your words and thoughts-they are a blessing!
You need to look up Smith and Myers doing acoustic with more covers. Both are from Shinedown. Brent Smith vocals and Zak Myers Acoustic guitar. 💜💜💜💜💜 Check them out 😉
Shinedown is awesome, no doubt about that. But do check out Lynyrd Skynyrd's version, it's the best in my opinion as well. I am partial though, because I was able to see them perform it live and man, it was amazing.
If I remember right. Either a radio station or the band had contest and the winner got Shinedown to perform in his living room. And the reason they did a cover of this song. Was because their guitarist at the time was dating one of Skynrds members daughters.
If that doesnt give you chills all over then you know nothing about great vocals!!!!!! This mans voice is a Godsend!!!!
What is even more amazing is that this was recorded on a cellphone
Brent Smith is one of the most talented singers in rock today. He does a lot of acoustic covers with Zack Myers, his guitarist, that are phenomenal. They're called the Acoustic Covers. His cover of In The Air Tonight is brilliant.
Yes those covers are great. They have a channel called "Smith and Myers" where they post all of them and they are also available on itunes.
OMG I could listen to this man sing all day long! Thank u for sharing this.
he's very humble, that's what I love about him
Glad you watched this one. Shinedown has mad skills. They're a band that is even better live than in their albums.
💯 seen them live and Brent killed it love sounded better than the album. He opened up with simple man and 45 on acoustic. They opened for Metallica and killed it. Was crazy.
I've never heard anyone come close to singing that song that good since him. Brent Smith is bad ass!

That voice is like silk. Just a beautiful tone. Love it!! My song for my son ❤
Brent Smith is amazing. The fact that he showed up to a fans house and performed is to cool
He really does have the biggest heart. I adore him so much
Brent is a great singer, but he's also a good dude. We used to hang out together until he joined Shinedown. I've only seen him twice in the past 10 years, but he's still a cool down to earth guy. I knew at 15 years old he would go far. Proud of him.

Brent Smith (Shinedown) has a collaboration with Apocalyptica called Not Strong Enough. You should check it out.
This is probably my favorite covers of all time. And I’ve seen this band live twice and both times, they played this live and it is performed acoustic and it’s freaking awesome.

If I remember correctly, they are actually at a random fans house that won some kind of contest or something. I could be wrong, but I'm pretty sure it's along those lines.
The Shinedown version made me cry he put so much passion into it.
This reminds me of being a kid at Mom and Dad's. There was a guy that played with Chet Atkins Band way back in the day. I heard it thousands of times but this gave the chills
Nobody has the vocal range and control like Brent. Seen Shinedown 3 times and it sounds like you're listening to a CD. They're amazing!!
The dude has some pipes !!! 🥃👍🏻
As a kid he'd spend hours in his parents garage practicing singing until he could hit every high note.
This is my favorite rendition of this song. Of their cover.
He doesnt just give you goosebumps ,he makes your skin vibrate!!!
Damn...what a voice!!!
It can't be overstated how much power he has in his voice... he is moving a TON of air.
You didn't stop the song 59 times to react you got my like

Chris Stapleton rivals this. If you haven't checked his version out do yourself a favour.

There was a 15 year old who did this song on The Voice. Sawyer Frederick's. You should see that.
C'mon, admit it, Brent is one of the most amazing singers of the 21st century.
It doesn't matter how he sings this it gives me chills and it's also a prayer for my brothers from our mom she's always prayed for all of us to go have a good life n never forget where we came from make things better for your own but still pass down the morals and values

This video has been on youtube for years. Brent Smith is one of the best vocalists out there.
Halestorm - Here's To Us Live & Acoustic. You may have heard this. Check out A Beautiful Deut
I would have to give the edge to Bo Steele. Plus he was singing with a dip and that's difficult to do!! lol

Actually, the Skynard version is titled Simple Kind of Man, CDB is just. Simple Man.
Chill bumps!!
Taps Mugadza sings his original song "Sober." Amazing song and would love to hear your reaction! Thank you for your words and thoughts-they are a blessing!
Brent Smith can bring it on that song anytime it's a Shinedown song when Brent sings it

Shinedown is awesome, no doubt about that. But do check out Lynyrd Skynyrd's version, it's the best in my opinion as well. I am partial though, because I was able to see them perform it live and man, it was amazing.
Just Wow...
I recommend three acts for you to review, The Barberettes singing "Be My Baby". Miko Marks singing her song "Mama" and Mamamoo singing "Egotistic".
My sons are in a metal band and sing me this song all the time. Their version sounds a little more like this one.
