My husband and I enjoy all your Tetons & Yellowstone videos, so thanks. When we visit we love staying in Cooke City, it's truly a hidden gem. It's a hop, skip, and a jump into the park.
We are going to stay there this year!
More great tips! We just got back from Yellowstone and your suggestions and itinerary was great! We saw lots of critters in all the places you noted. One additional spot was around the West Thumb of Yellowstone lake, lots of elk around there. We saw several cows and calves walking the shoreline of Yellowstone lake. Thanks for your help and I'm looking forward to more of your videos as we plan more trips to the mountains!
Yes!! I can’t believe I forgot to put that on there, because we’ve seen some massive elk there before as well. :)
Going to Yellowstone for the first time June 8 2023 . Thanks for all your great tips.
Hope you enjoy it!
Thanks for sharing, I'm slowly working my way through all your stuff.
So glad I happened upon your videos! You've made my trip planning a 1000% easier!
Happy to hear! Tell us more about your trip!
Thank you for these videos. I’m taking notes watching your videos. Just drove from Los Angeles and now in SLC.
Thanks so much. My wife and I are planning to go from Florida west starting spring of 2021 and be gone up to a year. We'll travel in a 24ft class c with a Prius to sight see in. All your info is very helpful. 👍😂🙏
We hope you have a fantastic trip. If you like our stuff, we will have an itinerary and audio guide ready for next year, so subscribe and we’ll let you know when it’s ready!
Great information from your videos.. I am hoping to go in 2022 so I am digging in now to see how to plan it - thank you so much for your videos!
Thank you Thank you for videos you and your family have posted on RUclips. Going next week.
You’re welcome! Thanks for watching. Have a fantastic trip. :)
Heading to Grand Teton and Yellowstone for a quick 4 nighter on Tuesday! First timers! Appreciate the video! Staying in Wilson Wyoming
Heading out for my first trip there later this month (Sept 2020). Can not wait to get there. Thanks so much for all of your tips and videos. I'm definitely taking notes.
Thanks Don!! Hope you have a great trip. You’ll love it in September.
I’m taking notes too! Mid Sept for me !
We’ve given you a shout out in a future video Shirley! It will be about what to pack for Yellowstone, so keep an eye out. :)
Good ! It’s hard to pack when it’s 95 degrees here in NC!
I'm going to Yellowstone/Teton this October and these videos have made me much more excited. One place I'd like to add is just south of Tower Fall. I understand the road is closed in 2020, but I've seen multiple black bears, mountain goats and big horn sheep in this area.
Yes!! You’re right! Thank you for contributing.
Try the petrified tree area or better yet take a horse ride from Roosevelt lodge
very well covered THX YOU :)
My pleasure!
Thanks again for the videos. Heading to Yellowstone on Sunday for a few days!
Thanks for watching!
@@WereintheRockies Just got back from our trip. My friend and I were in the park from sunrise until dark every night. I shot some great pics and we had the best time. Your many videos were a terrific help.
We are so glad to hear!! We are thinking about doing a “celebrate your trip” video where we show off some of the best pics and videos of people who watched our channel and visited. What do you think about that idea?
been Watching > Stan Mills a guy who hikes & camps yellowstone for years
nice quite Vidjas great views💯
Going for my first time on Oct 3. Staying in Livingston for three days. 100% photography trip so and good spots for fall would be helpful.
Yellowstone doesn't have certain spots that are famous for photographers (to my knowledge) like Teton does. Lamar Valley and Hayden Valley are big spots due to the wildlife, and the Grand Canyon is certainly photogenic. The Grand Prismatic Spring overlook is a must as well!
Always bring binoculars and spotting scope if possible
Take a tour if possible in the old yellow tour buses
Ran in to your video researching Yellowstone ..... hoping to go in summer of 2022..... once covid is safer
and the boarder is open , coming from Ontario Canada
Wonderful!! We will cross the border in 2022 as well!
@@WereintheRockies well we will welcome you to Canada ....where are you travelling too?
To Waterton Lakes. Just across the border. One day I’ll make it to Banff
@@WereintheRockies yes we went to Banff this past summer ..... make sure you head up the ice parkway to Jasper ... gorgeous country
Definitely! Thank you
Madison campground gets you out in the park early
What do you think about saving in Cody and how long does it take to get to the park from there
Cody is pretty far away. It takes an hour just to get to the entrance, and then another 40 min just to get to the main loop. And then if you go all the way round the lower loop, that takes about 2-2.5 hrs driving time (that doesn’t count seeing the sights). It sounds like an amazing town though. We are posting another video about places to stay in and around Yellowstone very soon. One thing you could do is stay in Cody, then drive into the park and see it, and then leave out of the west side and stay in West Yellowstone. However, there are plenty of people who stay in Cody the whole time. It just sounds like too much driving to me.
The chief Joseph highway from Cody to Cooke city is awesome you could also head for the beartooth from cooke
Question.. when going to Hayden Valley is there a place to park or can you pull over off the side? Can you hike out into the field area (or is that not allowed or too dangerous?) Sorry, it may sound dumb but I have never been so seeing as I am driving by is not what I want to do. I want to take photos of them.
HI Karyn, sorry, we were out of town. This is a great question. Hayden Valley does not have a parking lot. However, there are multiple places you can pull off to the side to get out and take pictures. And if there are animals out and about, cars will often be lined up on the side of the road. So yes, you can park, get out, and walk to a field area.
@@WereintheRockies Thanks so much for taking the time to answer my question. I appreciate it!
Do I need a spotting scope or are binoculars enough?
Binoculars are fine for most situations. For Wolves 🐺 you typically need a scope. You can rent it from the general store in Cooke city. Would you like me to do a video about how to spot wolves? Also, see our packing list for some recommendations wereintherockies.com/the-ultimate-packing-guide-for-yellowstone-grand-teton/
@@WereintheRockies yes a video about wolves would be great. Plus a video what magnification binoculars and spotting scope to bring. I have a 7x42 Nikon binocular and a 27x Nikon ED50 spotting scope. But I’m concerned they might not be enough power
@@donh1572 i didnt see wolves in Yellowstone but i saw 2 in grand teton! They were incredible
Wow, that’s pretty rare. Cool!
no audio!
Do you know were Otters normally hang out?
Bill, great question. I haven’t seen an otter in Yellowstone that I remember (I saw a Beaver in Grand Teton this year). I think they are more common to see in the winter. You can also see them at the Grizzly and Wolf Discovery Center in West Yellowstone!!
@@WereintheRockies we have seen otters at fishing bridge along with beaver also, also try trout lake. To me number 1 place to see wildlife is lamar though Hayden is also good. To see wolves and grizzlies you need to get up around 4 am and head to Lamar, lots of wolf people out there.
I love your RUclips Videos! How can I buy your maps and guides. Marley Pagel 474 Iris Lane, Saline MI 48176
Go to our website right here: wereintherockies.com/store/. Thanks Marley!
Watch slough creek for crowds watching wolves
Lamar has most of the wolves and grizzlies and less people....doesn't that make it better than Hayden for wildlife photography?
Alot depends on the time of year, since many animals migrate in and out of Yellowstone. See the NPS site for more information: www.nps.gov/yell/planyourvisit/viewanim.htm
norris..... as in Chuck Norris?
Correct... Norris.
