    This is really helpful! Thank you for that awesome advice! :) Time is what we want most, but what we use worst. Ordinary people think merely of spending time. Great people think of using it. Time blocking is a simple, flexible and effective way to help you to manage your time better and stay productive on a daily basis.

      Cass & Bran well said! Time is the only we can’t get more of, we can only use it more effectively.

      There are a few things you can try
      Don't have a long to-do list
      Avoid multi-tasking
      Get up earlier!
      Become a finisher not a starter
      (I discovered these and the reasons they work from Wilfs Blueprint System website )

    I’ve tried this off and on. I’ve been using the Full Focus Planner a little over a year and this works well with planning the Ideal Week in the planner. Going to use this to block some time to get a side hustle going.

    Hi Matt - super super helpful !!! Thank you so much - will implement this approach this week to see how I can make it fit into my life! Question- I am a planner freak and sometimes I don’t take account for the fact the I may be a bit tired and not at my best; what is your approach for those day when you’re just “crashing” - do you still force through, modify, or just let yourself rest up ?

    I love your videos Matt, but I am definitely spending more time watching videos on how to be more productive than actually being more productive! Seriously though, your bullet journal videos have been a big help and a month in I am still using the method to help calm and focus my brain when planning my large range of activities. I am going to try time blocking again, as so far I have found that my best intentions seem to get torpedoed by unexpected things more or less daily. I'll see if I can categorise them to make them more predictable and therefore plannable. I like the idea of one time block a week for anything I am passionate about or interested in:)

    Hi Matt, great video. Cool new post-it application! Very useful! Love your enthusiasm and well thought out ideas. Do you ever have days when you don’t time block, say when you’re on vacation or are traveling? Just curious! Keep up the good work!

    • @MattRagland
      @MattRagland  5 лет назад +2

      Sure do! I'm actually pretty unstructured most of my true "time off". We have a couple things we want to do each day as a family, but it's not as complete as the rest of life :)

    Matt, I like a lot of your idea's and videos.. Blocking seems a little to rigid for my profession. I'm a Social Worker, and have to deal with individuals in crisis mode and emergencies so this wouldn't work for me. Plus it just seems a little rigid and OCD. Good Ideas thought.

    • @ChattyWalkswithAngela
      @ChattyWalkswithAngela 5 лет назад +2

      You make a very good point. As a social worker, you need to be reactive on a daily basis which makes time blocking ineffective, in fact it can get you down that you haven't achieved what's in those blocks. Personally each day I have a carer role for my Aspergers' son, a job role for my paid employment, working on my son''s business, trying to develop my own 'hobby' business, keeping the house, being there for my partner. Any of these can turn up emergencies or sudden changes to the daily routine and most weeks vary immensely in terms of unexpected events and unplanned activities. I would love time blocking to be the solution but instead it becomes the list of things I haven't achieved! I'm trying to work out how to overcome this.

    • @MattRagland

      Hey Paul, you make a good point, but I think you’re taking the lesson a little too far though. Of course I’m not advocating for you to ignore a critical aspect of your job simply to stick with a time block. You may find it’s still helpful for the stretches of time there is more stability. But I still understand every job is different - shoot every parent is familiar with being interrupted by low scale chaos in the home. Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts, I appreciate it!

    • @MattRagland
      @MattRagland  5 лет назад +2

      Let's Walk London all good points, and the way I’ve explained it may not be for everyone. A variation for chaos though could be to have different tasks or lists for each part of your life - and when you do have the time making sure you’re balancing each responsibility you have. In this way the visual “fuel gauge” blocks shown at 3:35 could be a better practice since they are not scheduled per se, but a representation of allocated time. Just a thought!

      @@MattRagland Thanks Matt, super-helpful as always:) I am tracking all my activities for the next week or two and measuring the amount of time each one takes on a daily basis to get an overall pattern of activities over a period of time from which to realistically plan. From there I hope to develop a more grounded list of, as you say, 'fuel gauge' blocks that can be used weekly for planning across the 5 or 6 spheres. I got the bullet journalling bug from you so, as you say, it's a matter then of honing it to one's lifestyle. And I made a separate one for food planning....;)

      Actually, I'm actually probably using this method in a loose form already . I'm using a lot post-its, for to do's appts, on my calendar already. I'm moving closer towards a more minimalist life and I'm looking for simplistic methods. trying not to get to caught up in too much details. I do like your videos a lot of great ideas.

    The bujo is literally pitched as a way to never have to use Post-Its again. Yet here is a video of how to bring them back because they sponsored it. ha! Anything for a buck right?

    • @MattRagland
      @MattRagland  5 лет назад +2

      I don't believe I ever said a bujo could replace the use of Post-it Notes? I've used them for years - and yes - after 100+ videos it's good to have sponsorship revenue to help with the free videos :)
