Hey everyone! Thanks for watching my new video! Would love to know what you think about time tracking, time blocking, and the possibility of starting a podcast :D
I like how you have one side show your day plan, then the other side show the reality of the day. Really great idea to get an accurate sense of how you spend your time. Thanks for sharing.
I like the idea of when you jot down date plan on one side and date actual (done) on the other page, especially with the check marks indicating that the plan actually done is something I never did. It some thing that will encourage me to reflect at the end of the day and look forward to the following day.
I would like to see how you and your wife plan your days together. I really like the idea of hours in the middle of the page. I have used it before and phased out of it. I am going to go back to it; I am phasing in some ideas from Journal With Purpose and the hours in the middle will work nicely. I like the time blocking ideas PLAN/ACTUAL. It will allow me to see what my day REALLY happens and looks like. Yes, I would like the group time-tracking. It would be helpful to be accountable and form a habit in a more serious fashion.
I like the pocket books --that's the size that works for me. I do not listen to podcasts. I prefer text or video, because they are usually better edited. I hate listening to filler.
Hi, Matt - Good to see you again, and good luck with your presentation. The side-by-side comparison of plan vs. reality looks useful. Thanks for that. Previous attempts at time tracking fizzled for want of a clear way to use the data. I also like the 2-page spread for monthly tasks, though I might need to apply it at the weekly level for the next couple of months. Glad to hear things are getting to a new normal for you. Take care.
Hi Matt! Although I have not had the time to journal because of some issues going on, I appreciate all the ideas that you have shared through emails....Thanks again, and peace to you. Stacy.
"Have you packed yet?" 😂 I started doing your time tracking (from a previous video) this week to track my non-work time. It's interesting to see where it's actually going and shameful to see how much I waste. While it's a similar thing every morning and evening, it's not what I want and I'm hoping tracking will motivate me to fix it.
It feels a little intimidating or overwhelming to do time tracking in an additional journal after scheduling it in your main journal. Thanks for showing how you'd do it in the same journal spread. Would DEFINITELY be interested in another time tracking challenge. Keep up the good work. :)
Very interested in the time tracking challenge and hearing more about blocking. Also, I’ve always worked at large companies and we live off our Outlook calendars. How do you integrate this and time tracking/journaling etc.
I do a lot with Google Calendar myself, all my appointments are there. I often block out other times of the day as just "Busy" in my Gcal so people don't add me to meetings without consent :)
Have you done a video of how you handle or prevent interruptions if you haven’t already? I mean apps you use, or tips on if your routine gets knocked out of whack how do you get back to work. I prefer the first time tracking video. But a second one might help other people. I use the time tracking in two pocket sized 1917 journals to account for time spent on my masters thesis and time spent on my personal time. I’m trying to keep a balance of work vs time off and not waste so much time off playing pointless iPhone games. Well started out that way, now I watch tons of RUclips videos
I decided on Jan 3 of this year to ‘stop playing video games’ and because I am still tracking it,,, I haven’t played once. I will keep tracking until I die if it’s what keeps me from not doing what I don’t want to do, and keeps me doing those things I want to do. Matt, if you need to delete this next portion, I’ll totally be ok,,, I did a podcast with Leah Day on this very subject it is here #101 if you go to watch it, I think the interview with me starts about 18 minutes into the recorded session. My productivity has been through the roof since going cold turkey on those games, I still have a ton of enjoyable free time, but when I’m working on a project, I get it moved along AND. No more feeling guilty for gaming,,, it’s a win/win for me.
Congratulations on your new job, sorry still not getting your e-mails, time tracking would be brilliant to do. Have done the time blocking, which has worked well, still behind with my daughters wedding dress and bridesmaids dresses but that’s because I had surgery and have not recovered as had hoped, but in Gods timing . Look forward to listening to podcast from you both .
I use a similar time planning/blocking system in my primary (only) bullet journal, but I use the other side (where you're putting the next day) to track my actual time spent. Why on earth would you put it all out again in a separate journal... *video catches up* Oh, lol. You're switching it out. Never mind ;-) Carry on!
✍🏼 😎 👍 ☑️⌚️ 2:59 I like the vertical spread of the days..however...I would need a full page per day , so I can write on the left side..= the time of day/ main activity ...and on the right side of the page = side notes, meeting points, important focus notes etc --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- _Example_ *(Time)* Thurs / 05 /30 2019 / 1pm ..... *(weather/temperature)* sunny 10celcius /50farenheit *5am* ------ *_wake up_* - Morning ritual = stretch, clean, journal , prayer, meditate *6am* ------- *_prep family brekkie_* - pancakes /syrup/ waffles/ jam/ coffee/ juice etc *7am* ------- clean up kitchen and *_review & prep for the day_* *9am* - ----- *_Sunny day_* , good field video photo trip with class / meeting at park. 👟🕶🎒---- *_Clothes of the day/EDC_* prepped nite before, sunscreen, hat, good hike shoes, camera equipment. charged batteries/ electrolyte powder & Water bottle, Monoculars, Boobookit ,FAK, field journal with hiking Maps. *_IMPORTANT TASKs of the Day_* *👀* Research youtube video on Camera purchase *💲💲* Purchase new camera lens & Gimble @store *⌚️* Meeting with photo course/ students. Hi, I love the video, great job. But I am kind of confused how many notebook do use?& How are you able to keep up with all of them? and how can I make it in 1 notebook only?
The pocket notebook schedule, plan on the left, actual on the right, genius! However, for me, scheduling in work hours is done with MS Outlook (at 15 minute blocks), and I don't schedule or track my time outside of work. I have a fairly established routine (like you I'm a Dad with 2 kids and routine is important). I've been running two bullet journals for the last year... one for work, one for personal. I've noticed the work bojo is becoming a Meeting Notes book, and planning happens more on my PC. And my personal bojo is becoming a journal for reflections and thoughts on fatherhood and life. Occasionally I get problems where as I don't have 'one calendar to rule them all' work calendar and personal calendar clash. I'm thinking of starting a filofax A5 organiser for reapplying the bullet journal method, and will keep running with my work meeting notebook, and my personal thoughts and reflections journal.

Thanks for sharing Christina, don't feel ashamed on your time tracking results - I spend wayyyyyy too much time on sports news & opinion :)

Yeah. Let's do a time tracking challenge. 👍

Matt, live the channel, what's the meaning of A P on the mood tracker??
Mateus Carniatto AM (morning) PM (evening) moods :)
Hi, I love the video, great job. But I am kind of confused how many notebook do use?& How are you able to keep up with all of them? and how can I make it in 1 notebook only?
I just like splitting up my personal journaling away from my task-driven bujo :)
What kind of pen are you using to write in your bullet journal?
just crazy :D
Time blocking yes

Do you time block in advance ??? Or you do it as you go by
Podcast sounds interesting (:
Cool thanks Matt!
What's proactive schedule ??
Are you a CrossFit-er, too?
43 minute murph! Nice job
