Interesting concept. During recovery of a stroke my neuro-surgeon got me think of the day as 10 blocks of energy (because at the time energy was in short supply). Even though I was off work for 7 months it helped me to plan out my days and to know if I was overextending myself. I am going to try this 10 block method in my work life. Thank you for the video. Ps. I'm 99.9% recovered!
I’m just studying, no work, no pay yet, and I’m crunching a 60 hours work week between classes, homework, college applications, and exam preps. I’m going to try this system out to see if it helps me balance my life a little better. I’ll let you know how it goes!
I really like this way to track activities and habits, both productive and not so productive. I have a hard time tracking in the more common ways (filled in square or cross out), I don’t seem to connect with it. Somehow keeping track of the time spent each week seems like it might be a better accountability practice for me. It gives me more information. Have to keep reminding myself to keep asking why and not go into self judgement. Really enjoying your videos. You keep it simple. As an artist, checking out most RUclips Bullet Journal pages and ideas, I felt pressure to spend time making beautiful pages. I decided I didn’t really want to spend time making art in my Bullet Journal, I wanted my Bullet Journal to help me make time for my art practice. Looking forward to returning to a simpler way of managing my time this year.
A belated “Happy Birthday!” This sounds like a very interesting way to track your progress on things during the week. I am an instructional coach for an elementary school and have to document what I do each week. It’s such a pain as I currently use my Google Calendar as both a tool for scheduling and tracking. At the end of the week, I have to add up the hours for each component of my job and that can be a pain as I don’t always schedule all components on my calendar. I think I will give this a try over the next few weeks and see how it flows. Thanks for the idea and 🎉 for hitting 50K followers!
I saw your earlier video re 10 blocks. I have been using this system ever since. I started with the 10 x 4hr blocks and it has changed quite a bit to reflect different times - during the lockdown I had to get creative - but it was very helpful to keep some sort of routine and being able to track how much time I used well!! Currently I am using 8 x 5hr blocks and find it really helpful. Great content. Belated Happy Birthday. Congratulations on reaching 50k. Lor.
I'm going to try the blocks method this week, but my style ;) What I've done is I've divided 7 blocks of 4 hours each between all my clients depending on the amount I get paid. The other 3 I've left for extra work or not included in the contract (so paid separately), admin work and my own brand. Let's see how it works!
Happy Birthday! I also turned 37 at the end of September. Your 10 Block Method seems like a great intro to the Pomodoro Technique. Im going to work on this.
Matt you are my favorite youtuber I love this, in fact by reference to 10 blocks I found you last year. I always look for these explanations to try it although I have never applied this idea in my BUJO! Congrats for the 53.1K subscribers!
Yay happy birthday from Germany! How cool that your channel has so many followers! 🤓 I stumbled upon your videos when I was looking for some simple, minimalist and functional time managing ideas to get me a bit more motivated 😁 I never, until now, used exactly your designs but they inspired me SO much and I would end up adjusting your design for my needs 👍 keep up the great work!
New ish subscriber, I love it tho because Im used to "creative bullet journal videos" which are also amazing, but I love to listen to the practical side of the BuJo. Never heard of this method but definitely trying this. I would be using this with my collage classes, and side projects. Btw happy birthday!
What is your method of recording when you go over a planned block? You mention that this will happen often, especially in the beginning, so I would be interested to see how you document it to better plan your blocks for the next week. Thank you in advance!
Ten blocks is ok if it divides up for you ok. 4 hrs x 10 blocks... Yes can structure less but what if your item only totals eg 2 hours? I feel this system only really works for Matt... Needed more examples for different situations. And yes I did watch the whole video including where this was mentioned at 2:50
No I work with a cleaning company and not knowing my schedule except the night before sucks so I can’t plan a week at a time. Even if I plan for the next day idk what time I’ll be home. Frustrating
Thanks for watching! What do you WANT to use your 10 blocks on this week?
Hey, I don’t see where the PDF is. Can you help me locate it?
Never mind! I found it! For anyone else who had trouble, It’s on bulletjournalguy.con
Congratulations on your birthday! Have a great day😊

I didn’t know that I needed this video. I’m starting to suspect that RUclips knows me more than I know myself.
Happy belated birthday!! :)
Thank you!
@@MattRagland happy belated birthday Matt!
So when we are doing one hour blocks that is 4 squares of time not 1. Correct? 😆
Happy birthday 🎉🎂
omg you're a genius

This is brilliant! I’m gonna give this a go. Btw, what brand is your notebook? I love the color!
Amazing technique
Congrat for bd.

7:05. 🙂
First to like
Great video but it wouldn’t apply to me because my job hours change daily. One day I work 1hr and other days 6hrs

40 hour work week? Does that exist anymore?
1st
Happy birthday Matt!
