Snorkels were originally put on off road vehicles to get the intake out of the dust plume from the vehicles you were following, not for water fording. They just happened to work for water fording too.
its also the reason that most have the snorkel intake pointing towards the rear of the vehicle, to prevent as much dust as possible getting into the intake and potentially blocking air filters
How does the ratio of the crawler gear in the manual Bronco compare with 1st gear of the automatic transmission? I think that the Everglades with a manual transmission might be one of the best Bronco configurations...
When it comes to a 4X4 in today's world I always think about my first. A 1972 K5 Chevy Blazer with locking front hubs and automatic transmission. It did have an AM radio. A strictly utilitarian interior. Cost in 1972 dollars was $4200.00. It looked like an overweight International. The Marines at the Navy base where I was stationed in the northeast wouldn't even stop it. Even when my wife was driving.
I thought about the getting a Everglades but the fact of the smaller engine and non being changeable kill it for me, the V6 in my opinion and experience driving with both engines the V6 feel away better in every aspect, it’s a cool vehicle and definitely gonna be great but I couldn’t sacrifice how the bigger engine feel even tho the Everglades comes loaded
It’s always the oddball vehicles that never were a hot commodity when new …..only years after is when that model becomes super desirable! I agree , I’m sure the Everglades will be a sought after model in 5 -10 years
Do you both have the Sasquatch pkg? And if so, are there any differences in ride comfort, quality, or road noise? Just want to make sure I'm not losing any ride quality by going with the 2.3L Everglades Sasquatch. Thanks
I think the 2.3 also has an alternator that sits higher underneath. For a water vehicle that’s important. I think personally that’s the real reason they did 2.3
Great video, and I appreciate what Tommy is saying, but it just convinced me that Everglades would not be the trim of choice for me - too many sacrifices in the name of water fording, and too expensive for what it offers.
I absolutely love my desert sand Everglades. It's the best! I miss my OBX but there is no equal. Even the quality of doors, dash, steering wheel, seats, etc are so much more solid.
agree with other commenter. You saying this makes many folks disregard your opinion altogether, to the point of not believing you actually owned both or even one now. Every Bronco owner knows those parts are the same so please don't add false info.
I really like the bronco, but I have always been thrown off of its looks with its fender flares. When Ford announced the Everglades trim with the new flares, it corrected the issue I had with it and looks 100x better. I think those flares should be offered on every trim. I just don’t like the round flares. My wife wanted a bronco and we were set to order one but once I pointed out the flares she didn’t like it either. We do go offroad and we use the swaybar disconnect on our gladiator a lot. I think it’s dumb that they did not include the sway bar disconnect on the Everglades model. So now we are stumped again. You can’t always have everything. What to do what to do. In reality it’ll prob be fine if we don’t have a sway bar disconnect but for 55-56k they could have included it.
@@markhavelka4924 yeah I would love that! Everyone always asks me for my gladiator why didn you get leather it’s easier to clean from taking it offroad and being dirty. And I’m just like cuz when you take the top and doors off that leather gets freaking hot! No way!
Just buy a 2.3 litre Badlands Sasquatch model. Unless you plan on destroying your Bronco fording 4 ft of water and filling your interior with water, you won’t swamp the Badlands either. There will be an aftermarket snorkel either from Ford, the aftermarket, or both.
@@shitloveaduck I could, but I hate the round fender flares. Can’t just swap the flares cuz the sheet metal is diff on the fenders. Don’t care bout the snorkel whatsoever. It’s the flares
The sticker price on my 2022 2 door Base manual was $28,500. I don't need all kinds of fancy features and I've had all kinds of fun off roading with it. Coming up on 20,000 miles and no issues. Plus I can take the top and the doors off and ride in style. I wouldn't want any other vehicle.
This Everglades is exactly how I made my base Sasquatch bronco. I purposely wanted the 2.3l because first off 300hp in an off-roader is plenty plus it was reliable being that it had been in the Ranger and Mustang plus if you want more power you can tune and it will still stay reliable. Really wish they had the Everglades at launch would have been the model I bought.
Since you actually add the winch and stuff later, and most don’t need a snorkel it will not be a highly bought package. You could add a snorkel and move the other vents after market too if you decided you wanted it. But again aftermarket you can make it even more water capable than thd stock kit.
I built one of these online. It's what I would get if I were getting one. If I do get a Bronco it will be a 4-banger because I want a manual. I'm torn between a Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe Trailhawk and the Bronco. My commute will only be 24 miles round trip starting in August so the 25 mile EV range of the 4xe is very appealing. I'd love to to say "screw it" and just get both but I don't have 120k to drop on vehicles.
The 2.3 liter only has direct injection. The 2.7 has direct and port injection. I like it, but would want the 2.7 with port injection to help prevent carbon buildup on the intake valves.
@@ALMX5DP hey your right. I just looked at the parts catalog for fule injection and only the DI injectors show up. Looks like I'll need to do my valves eventually...
@@Dobbs6651 a catch can isnt a bad idea, but shouldnt be too much of a problem if you do regular oil changes with high quality synthetic oil. I think I've seen high mileage DI engines which look like they have some build up on the back of the valves, but many of those werent in for any issues related to that (it was just an observation while the manifold was off). Our Ford 2.0T has the above and is changed at 5k with Mobil 1. So far so good at nearly 90k miles.
Funny how so many people say the 2.3L engine is plenty powerful enough in the Bronco but put that same engine in a much lighter Mustang and everyone says it sucks.
I waited a year and a half for a black diamond Sasquatch before I got frustrated and quit waiting. They’re still scarce unless you want to pay over sticker and after seeing plenty of Bronco videos I think it’s safe to say a Bronco is only barely worth the sticker price and no more.
Not to mention, the 2.3l is less desirable to most people, which is why Ford made it the only engine available in the NA Ranger. Even though we'd prefer more choice in the engine line up.
Before I clicked on this video, I was just browsing online a week ago just to see what different trims Ford had for the broncos and golly there's a bunch but the Everglades stood out to me. And dang it cost a pretty penny. Js
I got 2024 caddilac xt4 but i always wanted bronco. So thinking to switch but i m now confused as its lacking all those features. But i really love the look
The wildtrak doesnt offer s sway bar disconnect. And the everglades is a niceee vehicle but the badlands offers soo much more you can get the vinyl floor, manual trans and the 2.3l in the badlands. Add a snorkel and since these broncos are very very modular you can swap the fenders if you really like the square over the round
You want big engine… I’m the 2.3 turbo is fine. Thing moves pretty damn good. And if you want more power just get performance tune for extra 30hp. If you really want more hp than that just get a race car lol. This is a off road vehicle 2.3l is has awesome and really peppy
I just worry about the longevity of all these little 4 bangers with turbos and high compression ratios. This thing is over 2 horsepower per cubic inch, which is really pushing it. You have to really rev them out to get into the power band. Personally, I don’t like vehicles with poor low end power. As they say, “There’s no replacement for displacement.”
Can someone tell me if the 2.3L non sasquatch bronco ride feel different from the 2.3L sasquatch bronco? Does having the HOSS suspension system of the sasquatch pkg change the ride completely, making it better?
Tommy grew up and continues to look and sounds confident and magnificent and brilliant love you bud as always Amazing job Awesome hairstyle and outfit. Your talent is outstanding
I wonder what kind of tunes and turbo upgrades there will be for the 2.3...or has Ford already tuned it to within an inch of its life using the engineering resources only they have?
I couldn't agree more. It is too bad that Ford brought it back for 2023 model year because as a one year limited trim, it would have been more rare than the first edition as well as the heritage limited trims.
Want to talk about recalls? Airbag sensors malfunctioning. Rearview cameras displaying false/lagging images. windshields loose/leaking. Child safety locks opening in locked position. Then there's the massive markups over MSRP...... if you can even get one. Hardly "the best".
The fact it's designed for 'overlanding' yet the cab is still too small to sleep in is ridiculous at this point. Why not make the front seats somehow fold down to accommodate a mattress?
Everglades looks like a better package. No Sasquatch in Glades only Skunk Apes and never gets cold enough to warrant heated wheel/seats. Otherwise, it was a good commercial for Ford. FYI--I remember mud boggin in the 80s with my buddy in his 2 door 4 banger Yota! 4 cylinders are plenty of engine for most people.
Most people who buy a Bronco are never going to take it off-road (maybe once or twice a year, if that much). So how many times are they going to need the disconnect sway bar feature? Better to have the winch for self-recovery or recovering someone else. With the way our crazy weather has been going lately (global warming), we can expect more flooding, including the kind of deep flooding that kills ordinary vehicles; having the snorkel could be an indispensable asset. In my city, underpasses (especially railroad underpasses) are deep and fill up with water even during light to medium rain events. Every time this happens, the newscasts show vehicles that conked out in waist-deep water. Okay, this isn't exactly off-roading, but it isn't boulevard cruising, either. In fact, it's more like off-roading than boulevard cruising. Having a super capable vehicle like the Bronco Everglades could save your fanny now and then.
It's a great trim, but for me, I would have to say the Badlands. I benefit more from the bash plates and sliders. You right don't care for the leather or authentic seats.
wish you would have covered a bit more of the specs on water fording the swamp rat vs std bronco water fording. Why is a defeatured, yet costly, model really worth the cost? How much weight difference is there really? You mentioned things, but failed to 'sell' me that it is really desirable, because you did not drill into the details more.
$56000.00 is insane for what is a basic model with a winch that you can buy for 1200, a pretty ugly plastic tube and a few longer hoses. It would have helped to have the cameras and front sway bar disconnect. Also with the dealer mark ups going on you probably won't find one any where near that price.
Trying to keep it under $50k. Debating between Black Diamond and Outer Banks model. Which one is the better value? If I’m only going to off road occasionally, is the Sasquatch package worth it?
I think either one of those trims with the SASQ package will set you back close to $60k My outer banks SASQ was $58k before tax….more than I wanted to spend but definitely happy with it..
@@markcole6475 ended up with a black diamond non Sas for $48k with mid package. I couldn’t find any SASQ packages in my area below $60k. There were enon in base, BB or BD. I did want the MGV instead of leather or cloth along with a hard top so it worked out. Wish I could have found a black diamond SAS
I wish you could get the 3.0L engine in the bronco without the raptor package! The 2.7L is just underpowered for a built bronco. I have the 2.7L in my F150 and it gets a passing grade when not towing, but honestly it doesn't have enough to put a grin on your face. Maybe I am just too used to driving electric cars like the Model Y that have dual motors and insane torque off the line?
I’m fairly sure the stabilizer bar disconnects are exclusive to First Editions and Badlands trims, regardless if the Sasquatch package is selected; can anyone confirm?
I would agree with you somewhat on your comments Tommy. I feel like people are going to purchase the higher trim Bronco then add those items (snorkel, winch...) to that higher end vehicle. It's the best of both worlds if you do it that way. I could probably go to Ford and purchase that snorkel and add it to a Badlands or bronco r edition. The other thing that does is it opens those specialty parts to all trims and different configurations, ie. 6 cylinder manual transmission with sway bar disconnect, vehicle. On the same token if you are using this as a daily driver and want some weekend off road capability or are wanting that aggressive look in your bronco without the fancy trim it would be the perfect bronco for you. As far as rarity goes, futuristically it probably will be rare because of the high price tag now with not so many options.
It's crazy to think back in the day "my day" I don't think you could get a 4×4 with a V8 with 300 horse power and 325 ft. pounds of torque & now you can get a small 4 cynder with it. And the best I remember my 1st brand new car was $9,000.00.
these things are sick . I'm car hauler and in person they really look the part . but the dealer over pricing of the broncos turned me off. I went jeep high tide.
Great video Tommy! I love the effort and thought that went into changing the everglades model. What are your opinions on a Base Sasquatch... from a pure value perspective, the base sasquatch that can be upgraded over time. A 4 door Basesquatch with hard top and wiring kit runs around 45K based on engines and accessories / the Everglades runs around 56K but that includes upgrades like a wash out floor / vinyl seats / mid package / etc {Not a bad deal at all if you plan to keep it stock}. I could have a lot of fun upgrading a bronco with the $11,000 saved. But I'm curious, If you had 56K to spend on a bronco, would you go for the everglades or upgrade/customize a base?
I think it's really cool how varied Ford has made the Broncos from the factory. Like with all the different grills and myriad of other special versions, packages and options. It would be really neat to be able to perhaps visit Ford and talk about how they are able to do this- is it just additive manufacturing (3D print) decreasing costs to prototype? How else have modern manufacturing techniques allowed them to do 'boutique' mass production like this?
The reason I went for a black diamond 2.3L sasquatch are those exact points you brought up. If only this had been available during the first releases. Hopefully Ford will offer some kind of snorkel kit in the future for us to buy.
I would go with the Black Diamond also. I wish they had better oem rim options. For the money it's a great value if you don't need the extreme off road capabilities. These kind of 'trucks' have incredible resale.

The Marines at the Navy base where I was stationed in the northeast wouldn't even stop it. Even when my wife was driving.
I had that very vehicle in orange.
Living in central alaska we like the heated seats AND the heated steering wheels on our jeeps.
I agree , I’m sure the Everglades will be a sought after model in 5 -10 years
I got the badlands sas with the 2.3 and honestly the engine has plenty of power. I barely notice a difference when I switch to driving my buddy's 2.7.
Do you both have the Sasquatch pkg? And if so, are there any differences in ride comfort, quality, or road noise? Just want to make sure I'm not losing any ride quality by going with the 2.3L Everglades Sasquatch. Thanks
I just went from the Wiltrak to the Bronco Raptor! TBH I wish i had just modded the Wildtrak.
I think the 2.3 also has an alternator that sits higher underneath. For a water vehicle that’s important. I think personally that’s the real reason they did 2.3
That is correct. Someone may do a waterproof alternator for the 2.7, conformal coated, but nothing yet that I know of.
2.3 is an Ecoboost
Agreed, I actually thought the title of his vid was to let that out as "ford's little secret", lol.
Than what? Your OBX? If so how cause it’s all the same unless is a Bronco Raptor.
agree with other commenter.
I’m waiting for the Goldilocks Bronco. Cloth seats, sway bar disconnect and Everglades fenders.
@@15jwrangler - True!!
What's the durability and reliability of the 2.3 as opposed to the 2.7? In other words does one engine have more issues than the other.
I found two everglades models for sale, one is 70k the other is 76k. WIll the prices of vehicles ever become affordable again?
This Everglades is exactly how I made my base Sasquatch bronco. I purposely wanted the 2.3l because first off 300hp in an off-roader is plenty plus it was reliable being that it had been in the Ranger and Mustang plus if you want more power you can tune and it will still stay reliable. Really wish they had the Everglades at launch would have been the model I bought.
Yup Sasquatch and base model bronco is all you need. I love mine looks better than the more expensive ones.
Marine-grade vinyl and rubber floors are far superior to leather and carpet.
Especially if you like swamp ass!
@@fullspeedfordbronco ?
@@HeyMavDak The MGV seats are really hot, especially during the summer months - therefore causing swamp ass 😄
@@fullspeedfordbroncoHave you ever smelled the inside of a work truck that has cloth seats?
@@HeyMavDak Yea, but are we talking about work trucks or the Ford Bronco? Obviously MGV is far superior for you but not everyone else…
I have a Wildtrak but I love the Everglades model. Don’t forget you can do the Ford Tune on the 2.3 if you want.
Pretty happy with my 2 door BadSquatch Lux!
The 2.3 liter only has direct injection. The 2.7 has direct and port injection. I like it, but would want the 2.7 with port injection to help prevent carbon buildup on the intake valves.
Nope 2.3 for the bronco and ranger is not like the old one on the mustang. It does have both.
@@Dobbs6651 Ford's website states just DI for the 2.3 while mentioning PFDI (Port Fuel/Direct Injection) for the 2.7..
@@ALMX5DP Thanks! yeah def need a catch can.
Everglades; My #1 favorite interior. Also, Swaybar disco only FE and Badlands, Raptor, and Heritage Limited.
Badlands has standard sway bar disconnect. Not available on Wildtrak.
Funny how so many people say the 2.3L engine is plenty powerful enough in the Bronco but put that same engine in a much lighter Mustang and everyone says it sucks.
That's because in a Mustang, everyone is comparing it to a V8. Mustangs are also supposed to be fast. Broncos are not.
Ford offers a tune for the 2.3 that boosts HP to 330 and torque to 385, while retaining the factory warranty.
Great review. Thanks!
Awesome recap and analysis of the Everglades.. GO BRONCO!
Can I get a soft top option as well?
Everglades looks like a better package. No Sasquatch in Glades only Skunk Apes and never gets cold enough to warrant heated wheel/seats. Otherwise, it was a good commercial for Ford. FYI--I remember mud boggin in the 80s with my buddy in his 2 door 4 banger Yota! 4 cylinders are plenty of engine for most people.
So you're mentioning the increased water fording but not the difference in number?
my dad just got this today and i'm watching videos for him.
Tommy, you know the Badlands and Black Diamond also have rubber floors and MGV seats for that amount of money, right?
Nice work Alex! Very TFL
Thanks, this is exactly what I was wondering-was the 4 strong enough.
It's a great trim, but for me, I would have to say the Badlands. I benefit more from the bash plates and sliders. You right don't care for the leather or authentic seats.
I was hoping to get an everglades version one day. guess any hope i had of that is gone now that more people will want one :(
does anyone know if/when the Bronco 2.3 will receive combo port and direct injection ?
wish you would have covered a bit more of the specs on water fording the swamp rat vs std bronco water fording.
I think either one of those trims with the SASQ package will set you back close to $60k
My outer banks SASQ was $58k before tax….more than I wanted to spend but definitely happy with it..
What kind of gas mileage does the 4 cylinder get compared with the V-6?
I’m fairly sure the stabilizer bar disconnects are exclusive to First Editions and Badlands trims, regardless if the Sasquatch package is selected; can anyone confirm?
Sorry Tommy not spending that kind of money. Also, I think the Everglades should have a 3.5l tt v6 with the 10 speed.
Kinda strange they didn't include synthetic rope on the winch.
because they didn't want it to be actually as capable as a $500 harbor freight winch.
Looks synthetic, and even Tommy mentioned as much..
Dealer markups are making all broncos impossible to even look at. Maybe some day in the second hand market.
Tommy - you get it!
Totally agree with you Tommy. If I had the money, that’s the one I would get.
Can the Everglades even be ordered if you don’t have an order already?
Tommy you are doing awesome content man.
They could also have just added bigger springs of accommodate the additional weight
That likely would have required a different damper as well. Seems like they wanted to keep things simple with this package arrangement.
these things are sick .
I also have a 2021 Black Diamond 2.3 L 2 Door sasquatch. Extremely happy with it
Didn’t you guys sell your Bronco at TFL bids?
Add the Ford performance tune and all good.
I actually wanted the 2.3 manual base 2 door. If I were to opt for an upper trim it would be the everglades.
Where I live in Minerva ohio the one ford dealer ship has $15000 to $31000 mark ups on their broncos
Did I hear you say the wild track has a sway bar disconnect
My friends King Ranch F-450 was $92k and has vinyl flooring.
cant get a sway bar disconnect on a wildtrak
