End Times' descent continues, even when there is no reason to write something absolutely absurd and senseless, End Times takes that option. In a novel by Gotrek and Felix they said that the Chaos Warriors, Chosen and others did not need to eat much or hardly anything to sustain themselves (I suppose because of the blessings of the Chaos Gods; besides it is difficult to eat if the armor has been welded to the body and cannot be removed, which often happens to Chaos Warriors) but the rest of the Chaos Hordes, which are the vast majority, do need it. Chaos makes no logistical sense, but it is Chaos, so if anyone can ignore logic it should be them. I have a theory that time passes faster within the Chaos Wastes and that's why the hordes are inexhaustible, that and that it's perhaps bigger on the inside than on the outside. Theoretically possible in a place so affected by the warp. Apparently they couldn't use that explanation and had to go with time travel, which while possible feels lazy and poorly thought out (which is a common complaint I have with End Times). Gelt turns to necromancy in an attempt to save the empire and ends up being discovered and hunted down. At least in the books, I don't know what happens in the novels. The golden wall that stopped the forces of chaos was partly possible because Neferata gave him a book of magic, one thing led to another and he became a necromancer. Classic End Times intelligence, failing to investigate obvious signs of enemies infiltrating the city when the opportunity presents itself. The Glottkin are monster, wizard and warrior in one unit. It's not a bad idea, but they barely do anything, they appear in the book with their name and then disappear. Giles' rebellion is also from the first book I think, it's part of the resolution of the Bretonnian civil war between Louen and his bastard son who had been using necromancy, assisted by Arkham I think. Vlad's moment licking blood and poisoning himself, one of the great End Times memes. Although if he does that out of habit, why doesn't he do it after stabbing Festus? I guess it's double stupidity instead of standard End Times stupidity. Vampires are autonomous, if their creator is destroyed they continue to exist, so it is another absurd thing from End times. Sigmar is supposed to possess Karl Franz's body from that point onwards. I swear the magical purification effect (which also destroys undead) in the books only covered the city, but that's beside the point. Deux ex machina and that's how the book ends, Sigmar possesses the body of Karl Franz. In my opinion the worst is yet to come.
It's not something new, I the Vampire wars trilogy of Steven Savile, which is actually pretty good, we get to see a former witch hunter who has been turned into a vampire by one of Vlad's generals and he actually plays a somewhat significant role in the story

But logic would have it, marauders should be much stronger than imperials, due to surviving skills alone, and chaos warriors should be absolute beasts, space marine style, and all should be small in numbers. But you do want the empire to be outnumbered for dramatic endtime effect, oh gosh oh jeez oh damn if only we had an option on the side of chaos to summon endless amounts of troops out of thin air... Oh wait a second, how about you summon... Freaking daemons?!?
I might never forgive end times for existing but shitting on lore of beast as hard as this book did is absolute chad move. None of that "All magic has its uses" nonsense, here lore of beast is so weak we will give them leadership position cause everyone knows they didnt take it by power. Lore of beast strongest mage struggling to prevent beast killing him. I love this. No not all magic is equal. We all know this.
Got into Fantasy somewhat recently. Seeking out material from Old World and current. There are a few Emd Times things I like, but if I'd grown up with the setting, most of it would hurt my heart. So glad to see the Fantasy model department absolutely dominating the quality department. Gives me hope, or something.
I'd say keep them coming, but Im worried about all of our sanity if we dive into the Hell Pit that is the End Times too greedily and too deep. Its funny though that Warhammer 'Game of Thrones s8-d' itself a decade before all of these awful fantasy shows came out. Its like people in Hollywood saw the End Times and said 'hey, lets do this with every fantasy property ever!'
