As Bird said below, I finished the Sundering after this video and learned THIS IMRIK is not OUR IMRIK. He's a different Caledor prince who is blonde, rude, pretty and loves dragons. And ALL HIS SUCCESSORS ARE NAMED IMRIK. But That imrik renamed himself Caledor to honor his grandfather, the original Caledor. Not the province Caledor, the guy Caledor. But not Imrik anymore, his sons are all Imrik. Jesus christ.
So, there are multiple Imriks. Imrik that was the Phoenix king is also known as Caledor the Conqueror, but the Imrik in the game is just one of his descendants. Alith, Morathi, Malekith, and Hellebron have outlived even normal elf lifespans by quite a bit, so somebody like Imrik would not even have lived that long.
most of the colonies were nagarythi in origin, (and caledor to a lesser degree) since these were the two strongest kingdoms with the biggest armies and were most eager for glory
Okay so the video is fantastic, and it is making me empathize with our poor grumpy boy, but the I'm pretty sure the guy on the right with the bow is nocking an arrow without drawing the bowstring back.
Young Alith Anar was not very good at reading other people. But that's okay, it's a credible character flaw. Aenarion is called a demigod on more than one occasion, before the Vortex Asuryan's blessing upon becoming Phoenix King and Khaine's power from wielding the Widowmaker were apparently more powerful and Aenarion had both. I believe that in the battle for the Vortex the four Exalted Great Demons Aenarion faces call him brother. The level of power he managed was ridiculous. Tyrion also seems to be incredibly popular with elven women from what I remember, although I assume he has more social skills than Alith Anar. The incident with the white deer is probably the reason why Alith Anar ends up being Morag-Heg's chosen one and has absolutely no relation to Kurnous. That whole passage with the wolves would be more meaningful if Alith could summon a pack of wolves in Total Warhammer. Alith Anar being an occasional cannibal doesn't seem so out of character for someone known for the brutality of his terror tactics. Like covering a cliff with 700 crucified prisoners alive, who no one dared to take down or put an end to their suffering and only fell when the bodies rotted. The bones are still at the bottom of the cliff millennia later. What I liked least was Alith Anar's strange nationalist-independence streak in the novels, when the character had previously been defined by his loyalty to the Phoenix Kings even if that meant fighting a war against his own traitor compatriots, a huge contradiction. with previous characterizations of the character. Druchii numbers have never made sense.

This is why, in a final summation of things, the War of the Beard was justified.
reminds me oft he Ptolemaic dynasty of Egypt, where every male son was named Ptolemy. Every. Single. One.
I love how Alith Anar's grandfather just set Alith up for failure with his one-sentence letter to the phoenix king.

I think most of the elf characters in the game are actually pretty young (by elf standards) despite being insufferable about their long lifespans.
These lore videos are even better when you Imagine it as an eccentric skaven scribe explaining the world's history.
