The players didn't have that MUCH clout as they do Right NOW, so if you talked TOO MUCH s*** that the coach DIDN'T LIKE back in those days, you could get banished from the league REAL easy!

I played against Mayberry in high school. Our teams were in the same conference and Mayberry's team (Tulsa Rogers) would go one to beat us in the 5A Oklahoma State Semi Finals (51-49). Although booting us, I was still a Fan of Mayberry. I thought the May-Day combo was going to shred the NBA as well, like they was doing for the Razorback's. Both of these guys were nice on the court.

I was born in Seattle in 1973, where I grew up. Sonics and Blazers fan. Japanese-American and male. I remember in the summer of 1994, Terry Porter thought that he was going to get traded to Milwaukee, his hometown. Well, with Portland needing a young scoring shooting guard, I really wanted the Blazers to get Todd Day! IF I heard correctly, in 1996-97, Todd Day "rolled his eyes" when Pat Riley took him out of a game. The next day, during practice, Pat Riley called everybody over, and said, "Todd, you have been waived!"

Use to come to school hollering 𝙈𝙖𝙮𝘿𝙖𝙮! 𝙈𝙖𝙮𝘿𝙖𝙮! In the 𝘽𝙄𝙂 "𝙊" (Osceola High) also reppin Oliver Miller. After the Razorbacks won. That was the Arkansas team that was supposed to win the state it's first championship! That team was actually better than the 94 team but so was the competition. That team ranked up with the best UNLV, Michigan, Duke, Kentucky, N. Carolina, etc. Stayed in the top 10, more so top 5 with a few #1 ranks in the country. Lee Mayberry played in Milwaukee too. If I'm not mistaking he has a few 40 + pt games.

My family are Razorbacks fans and I became a Bucks fan because of Todd Day. As the vid brings out, there were just too many potent SGs in the league at the time. The Bucks best player (Blue Edwards) and best bench player (Ricky Pierce) were SGs when Todd got there. And he was basically replaced by Ray Allen. He was big enough to play SF, but they had Big Dog for that. Oh well. He was still fun to watch.

Hard to tell from that anecdote with Miami, but do you suppose Riles brought Day in specifically to dismiss him in a grand, theatrical gesture? Like, to make an example of him? To demonstrate to the team that anybody could get cut at the drop of a hat?
He was only there for preseason and a few weeks of the regular season, and shot about 40% by that point, so he wasn’t likely to beat Voshon Lenard or Majerle for playing time.
Meanwhile Riley made his bones in LA so he knew the power of showmanship. Just sayin. 😁

Dont forget....Vin Baker came in the next year, then Big Dog Glen Robinson after that. Bakers quick development as the 2nd option after Robinson affected Day's role and expectations for him on the team dwindled. They could have had a nice "BIG 3" if the Bucks didn't give up on Day.🧐

Can do you a video on Rodney McCrae? When he got to the Bulls, he totally lost his confidence and there was rumors Jordan ran him out the league. He was a force with the Rockets, Kings, and Mavs tho.

Seems he caught a couple raw deals Pat Riley basically chasing out the door with a bat, and being taken out before breaking a record held by Bird, solely because it was taboo to go try and outdo the Almighty great one. 😅
