Anthony Rapp has done a lot for Rent. From the first workshops to the final Broadway performance. He sold tickets from the box office, worked press junkets, did charity promotions, sang on the album, performed reunion concerts, and starred in the movie. Of all the performers, he is Rent.

just to clear a few things up, Idina and Taye were doing something overseas, and Adam sold his ticket for charity. thank you Jonothan Larson.

I was bawling my eyes out the entire time. A lot of people don't know what it's like to be with a cast of people for so long, I've been in a musical theater show where it ran for 6 months (I would have died crying if I were in a show as long as this), and most people don't know the pain of a final performance and having to leave that stage for the last time. It's a final everything. It's your last call time, your last mic check, your last "thank you ten", your last "thank you five", your last places, your last performance of every song, and the last curtain call will having you crying like crazy. With a show as inspiring as this, it would be a sad, sad goodbye.

If this doesn't reduce you to tears, nothing will. Sobbing for joy.

Bless Jonathan. He’ll never know how much this musical changed, inspired, and touched lives and how it will continue to do so with each new generation of Broadway babies. ❤️

Seeing Jonathan's parents Al and Nan, sister Julie, and nephews Matt and Dylan there just made me so happy. Seeing how proud they were, seeing the tears in Matt's eyes...it really brought tears to my eyes. Its so sad that Nan is gone now as well. She seemed like such a nice woman.

I was fine but then Angel came back on. I ugly cried the rest of the time and I still haven't stopped. I was supposed to get off the computer an hour ago. I should have followed through.

I still have trouble accepting the cruel irony of Jonathan's death on the day the show was supposed to open (they did open that night, but they started out doing just a run through sitting at a table, but somewhere along the way, they just couldn't sit there anymore, and got up to do the show with the choreography, etc., is what I've read/seen/heard). It just isn't fair.

I was in a community theater production of RENT as the bag lady. Never have I felt such a connection to any cast. Whenever we see each other we say, "We did RENT." It never leaves us. It will always live within us. It changed me. It changes all of us. The world was blessed by Jonathan and this beautiful show.

Of all the musicals I've seen, this is the one that resonates with me the most in that, having known some of the troubles of the characters like getting evicted or being broke or living out a death sentence, I know that dark place the characters draw their pain out from, tryna' light the dark with music and love and friendship and--faith.
