I like huge hauls instead of monthly ones, personally. But whatever is more convenient for you is fine by me. I got my hands on Defy Me by Tahereh Mafi, Persepolis 1&2 and the Long Way to a Small Angry Planet (finished it already, it was a nice read) and the next 2 books in the series.
7:28 I'm the complete opposite; if I'm told the book doesn't have romance then I tend to lose interest in it or I will push it way back on my tbr 😆 Kings of the Wyld and Skyward are the only two books that I can think of that I've LOVED despite them not having romance.
I just love seeing what your going to read whether it's one you bought, an e-book, or borrowed from a friend or library. I love hearing your reviews on the books you've read because they are always so interesting and informative. I'm reading A Discovery of Witches and Mistborn and I have Nevernight, Scythe, and Strange the Dreamer waiting at the top of my TBR. Happy Reading!!!❤📚❤
The Witchlands is an amazing series, you've already read Truthwitch and the series gets even better, also the third book already came out this year. I really recomend this series, it's definitely a favorite of mine although I didn't enjoy the novella (Sightwitch). I hope you like it!
Oooh Sue Grafton! She used to be my favorite author. I read all her books from A to U. I stopped at U because I find that I haven't been enjoying her books. But now I want to continue.
If you are reading Matt Haig, I recommend his book "How to Stop Time". My dad made me borrow his copy and I actually super loved it. I'm sad because he'll never have a chance to read other Matt Haig books. I plan on getting The Humans sometime because you enjoyed it and recommend it.
The Sue Grafton one is an entire series based on the alphabet. The first is A is for Alibi. It’s a good series, sadly she passed away so the books only got to the letter Y. But still worth the read. 😊
My mum absolutely loved How about Time (or something like that) by Matt Haig. And it's about someone who's been alive for a long long time or relives his life or something similar. You might enjoy it too!
I'm either way fine with monthly or quarterly, only that I would like videos specially with hauls and reviews of Audiobooks. I often get undecided about what to get on Audible.
I just started the Legion Novella collection as well! As for books, The Baker's Boy by J.V Jones (Book Of Words #1) Off Armageddon Reef by David Weber (Safehold #1) Echoes of The Great Song by David Gemmell (Standalone) and Furies of Calderon by Jim Butcher (Codex Alera #1)
Reasons to Stay Alive by Matt Haig is not a novel but a memoir. I don't want to say more because I like going in to books blind, but I believe being aware its non fiction is essential so you don't set your expectations on it being another The Humans. Also as a BS in biology I Contain Multitudes is well done and informative for the general public.
I think you would like the Discovery of Witches trilogy by Deborah Harkness. It has romance, but it's also fantasy, magic, and a school setting, but it's a historic university setting, which was really refreshing! Witches, vampires, daemons, and my favorite scene was actually in the lab discussing the genetic differences between the 3. Lol. Happy reading!
Hey Emily. Two thoughts. Sue Grafton book is a series. “A is for Alibi “ is the first one and the series goes thru the whole alphabet. The Michael Crichton book is pretty good. It was pretty technical learning how a plane works. Thank you for your channel. 🌸🌸🌸
It is very interesting to see how other people choose which books to buy and I'm all for monthly updates. Three of the novels I have purchased lately are upon your recommendation (I'll Give You The Sun, Dark Matter and The Seven Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle) and all three I wouldn't have chosen otherwise. I'll be lucky if I even like one of them :)
The Daevabad trilogy is adult fantasy based on Djinns. It's set in Cairo and it's great! The City of Brass and it's sequel the Kingdom of Copper are out now :) big chonks of books but the action is great so you fly through it. Am so intrigued by all these books! The tbr list gets longer! 😂
I love fiction and fantasy, but I try to balance as close as possible to a 50-50 with non-fiction. I read earlier this year I contain multitudes and it’s soooo goood! You’ll definitely enjoy is and is very fascinating - really great content about how much impact microbes have in the world.
I actually like when you wait longer and then the videos are longer too :D Also, I love the SF Masterworks collection and I've started collecting them myself as well :D
Last year I read The Hound of Rowan, the first book in The Tapestry series by Henry Neff. It gave me Harry Potter vibes, but I liked it. Been looking for the second one on my secondhand stores, no luck. The Iron Trial is another good one too. Both series are middle grade. Do a monthly book haul. Great haul this month! 😁
I would love to see monthly hauls, but obviously, whatever works best for you. You've absolutely convinced me, btw, that I'm going to start the Mark Lawrence books. I don't really like GrimDark, I'm more of a HopePunk person and his first series was way too dark for me, but you like this one so much I'm looking forward to giving it a try.
Here are a few of my favorite thrillers that you might enjoy too! No Exit by Taylor Adams The Last Time I lied by Riley Sager Before She Knew Him by Peter Swanson Pretty Girls by Karin Slaughter Watch the Girls by Jennifer Wolfe Happy reading and thanks for all the wonderful content!
I can understand this of being overwhelmed with so many books. I am fortunately at an age where I know what I like to read and it isn't a surprise anymore if I pick a genre I don't like and I end up not liking the book, the last book I just told myself to stop getting the wrong sort of book was when I tried to read "The Library at Mount Char" and definitely didn't like it. So I can already sort out the new stuff from genres like Horror, for example, that I know I won't enjoy. It gets less overwhelming if you buy only what has a fair chance of being your taste.
I've been thinking about getting the Hyperion books for years so I'm looking forward to your opinion. I've read Carrion Comfort by Simmons and even though it was too long and kind of a mess it was a really great horror novel.
Have you ever read anything from Tamora Pierce? She writes fantasy and YA. You should try the Song of the Lioness quartet, Wild Magic quartet and The Protector of the Small quartet. They are set in the same universe but with different protagenists. Starting with Alanna. She started publishing in the 80s and the books suffer a little because of huge time jumps, especially for the Alanna quartet, but as Tamora Pierce herself said. Harry Potter was a huge game changer as it showed the publishers that children and teenagers were willing to read big books. There is also the circle series, which is set in a completely different universe, where you follow four children, learning magic.
Reasons To Stay Alive is on my TBR as well, you should know that it is a memior which according to Goodreads is inspired by his experience with depression. I am really excited to read this but also a bit apprehensive because I am afraid it might effect my mental health 😅 And I like seeing the book hauls quarterly. And maybe you could mention the books you got from the library as well (audiobooks/ebooks), or do a separate library haul.
Nothing. I have picked up nothing lately, and that makes me sad. On the other hand, I'm slowly getting through all the books on my shelves that I hadn't read yet (I'm almost finished with what's been released in the Mistborn Series, and will pick up Way of Kings next) AND I've been utilizing my library more, so yay? I do know Book Outlet is having a sale in the next week or two, so I may do some shopping then. I like the 'book haul when you have a bunch of books' over book haul every month.
OMG I LOVE Sue Grafton. She is fantastic and made a great series. The alphabet ends at Y. 😥 FYI my library has every single book in audiobook form. I know you rock the overdrive app so it might be worth checking out if you like M.
A biology nonfiction! That book made me think of a podcast I'm currently binging that I think you would really like, it's called This Podcast Will Kill You and every episode two awesome ladies go over the biology, history and current impact of a different disease. It's specially nice since at the end of every episode they cite their sources + have a goodreads list (These Books Will Kill You) which has inspired me to pick up a ton of super interesting biology nonfiction I wouldn't have known about otherwise! Love you💕
Great Haul! I just started Red Sister last night (or whatever the first one is called) and I bought The Humans at a used book store a few weeks ago :) If you're ever in Ottawa you should check out the Black Squirrel Cafe and used book store- they have the best stuff! Also, Books on Beechwood is a lovely bookstore with a very nice curated selection of titles and Penguin merch. Anyway, I hope you're enjoying the spring thaw- the snow in my backyard melted yesterday!
Hey emily ! I really like your videos.Just a little suggestion. Please write the names of the books in the description. I want to read more of scifi book you mention.
I started reading I contain multitudes a couple months ago and I had to stop coz school but it was soo good I wished I was a tree just to be able to read it
AH! I'm reading "I Contain Multitudes" by Ed Yong right now! The cover is so so gorgeous. I'm a clinical dietetics student with a special interest in the gut microbiome, and I think the book has been so interesting! Definitely eye opening. Microbiology is wild! I hope you like it
An "older" mystery series that I really enjoy is the Lincoln Rhyme books by Jeffrey Deaver. The first book is the Bone Collector and it was published in 1998. I personally think they're hilarious.
Nonfiction Recommendations Video? “I contain multitudes” sounds interesting. I would just be scared that I would never pick it up once it was on my shelf 🙈 Would really like to read more non fiction. Recently read “Educated” and really enjoyed it.
I like monthly tbr videos.^^ Well, I have some authors I want to read everything he/she writes, but I always check the summary and if I don't like it, I skip it ^^ I love Marie Lu, but I wasn't interested in her Catwoman / or was it Superman? - book. Thx for this video 😊
I’d love to get you to post videos on like first books cause I love your channel believe me it’s just hard to go through all your videos to find the first books of the ones you post in your monthly videos. Think you can do that Emily? I’d love to have a video of all your first books in a series and single books! Let me know what you think. Much love
These hauls of yours are always dangerous! I love them, but I always want to go out and buy everything that you mentioned :) Also, I feel the same about the domestic thrillers, it seems like lately there really isn't anything else out there in the thriller department :(
Hey Emily! Great video as always 👍🏻 I bough almost all books by Lauren Oliver because I enjoyed the first book I read from her. But unfortunately I didn’t like all of them. Still continue to try it though 😄
I love book hauls; they give me ideas or let me know if I am or am not interested in a book!!! I think you should do them whenever is good for you though and, of course, I'll be watching!!! I just read Reasons To Stay Alive by Matt Haig and I thought it was great!!! :)))))
About Matt Haig (an author I love): Reasons is non-fiction and about his experience with depression, it's wonderful and inspiring. The Radleys is great, I hope you like it!
😰😰😰 I’ve read the Radleys and ... it was mostly annoying I have to say ... l’m willing to hear your thoughts on this one 🤔 I’m curious I’m super curious to read the Holy sisters series but I’m not sure I’m gonna like it so I’m gonna ask my library to order at least the1st one 🧐🧐🧐🧐 Love you 😘
This has nothing to do with books but you look like a real life elf! You remind me of Arwen from LotR. PS: Most of those books seem really interested. You convinced me to try out Sanderson.
Have you read Dangerous Girls by Abigail Haas? It's YA mystery thriller. It was so good. I didint see what's coming. I recommend it. I saw people who guess what happens in the end so maybe you will figure everything out before the end but I still recomend it. 😊
I've just read Hyperion and actually was surprised by how much i loved it! I would be really interested of how you like it. It is so fantastic and clever and just pure genious! Read it! :)
There’s a new adult science fiction release called The Luminous Dead by Caitlin Starling that I just picked up and thought of you! It’s about space caves and seems spooky
Most interesting magic system I've read recently, other than Sanderson of course, was in foundryside by Robert Jackson Bennett. Please check it out, I think you'll love it
I'm so with you about thrillers these days having the same domestic trope. They're all starting to sound and read the same, and it doesn't help that I don't like them much either.
Unsure if anyone told you, but Sue Grafton is a series. Starts with A and got up to Y before she passed away. Good luck with Matt Haig; really enjoyed The Humans, everything else I read by him was meh. Everyone has different tastes. I read The Radleys and How to Stop Time.
Love hauls! But honestly its whatever you prefer because big hauls are fun, but so are lots of mini ones. Edit: I feel the same way. I like to find more books from the author to see if they're so good that I want to read all of their works
What's the last book you got your hands on? :D
How to be both by Ali Smith :)
Agnès Grey by Anne Brontë, not read yet but I can't wait ! love your videos btw :)
It's been forever. I'm ashamed. 😧😥
grisha trilogy
I bought The Way of Kings recently and it's fantastic!
Quarterly hauls please. With drop in segments of the library & audio aquired goodness.
Great video, what about a bookshelf tour??? 😀
The thumbnail is me whenever I don't think that I need a shopping cart, but I do. I really do.
That second when "I Contain Multitudes" wobbled.
A fantasy book with a school setting is ‘the school for good and evil’. It’s written by Soman Chainani, it’s a series but they are very good books
What a bless to wake up a Saturday to a new Emily's video
Polly H totally!
7:28 I'm the complete opposite; if I'm told the book doesn't have romance then I tend to lose interest in it or I will push it way back on my tbr 😆
Kings of the Wyld and Skyward are the only two books that I can think of that I've LOVED despite them not having romance.
Ohhh that makes me happy, i've just ordered the kings of the wyld! Will you be reading the sequel?
@@froncifresh It is such a fantastic story. I hope you love it 😁
And yes, absolutely! It's on my shelf waiting to be read ❤❤❤
I just love seeing what your going to read whether it's one you bought, an e-book, or borrowed from a friend or library. YAY UNHAUL!!! I love those :) as for when you do hauls, just do whatever you want/whatever is most convenient for you.
I just purchased Red Sister by Mark Lawrence because of your videos and how much you love the series! I am so excited to finally give it a try! 💕
I loved “I contain multitudes”!!!
Oooh Sue Grafton! She used to be my favorite author. I read all her books from A to U. I stopped at U because I find that I haven't been enjoying her books. But now I want to continue.
Em, you need to read Robin Hobb!! I suggest starting with Assassin's Apprentice. I think you will love it!
I love this book ❤️
@@emilyberardi3126 it's one of my favorites!
I like watching a long quarterly book haul, but it’s totally up to you!!
If you are reading Matt Haig, I recommend his book "How to Stop Time". My dad made me borrow his copy and I actually super loved it. I'm sad because he'll never have a chance to read other Matt Haig books. I plan on getting The Humans sometime because you enjoyed it and recommend it.

I’m sure it’s been recc’d before, but if you want to read more nonfiction Mary Roach is a great author to try! Stiff is my favorite.
I like the monthly book haul idea 😊

You should do a video every year about all the books you've preordered
Wow! So many books! The last book I got was 'Cobalt Blue', though 'My Sister, the Serial Killer' is coming home tomorrow. :)
I don't think I've ever been this early...but I'm totally ready to make my tbr grow !
My bookstore always has those classic scifi books on sale and I think of you every time I see them, haha
I recommend you the shannara chronicles

I’m excited for the unhaul! As for the hauls, doesn’t matter to me how you decide to post them.

i just finished godsgrave yesterday and i was shook and deceased and my wig hit the ceiling. i hope you love it emily!! 💕
That edition of Legion is beautiful!
I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on Godsgrave!! I hope you loved it
The last book I bought and I'm reading is A Discovery of Witches and so far I'm half way through and really enjoying it❤📚
Hey emily ! I really like your videos.Just a little suggestion. Please write the names of the books in the description. I want to read more of scifi book you mention.
not quite book-related -- but would you consider making a video about learning a second language and how you reached fluency? x
I recommend Ursula LeGuin and Robin Hobb. If you haven't read them you will be in for a treat.
I hope you like it
I contain multitudes is a cool book I think you'll enjoy it!
An "older" mystery series that I really enjoy is the Lincoln Rhyme books by Jeffrey Deaver. The first book is the Bone Collector and it was published in 1998. I personally think they're hilarious.
I still think you need to finish the Black Prism series by Brent Weeks, they’re amazing as audiobooks
If you want a non-fiction book (which also has que prettiest cover EVER) you should read The Romanovs by Simon Sebag Montefiore
I just finished Holy Sister today. Amazing!
Great haul! Thanks!
I just finished Aurora Rising by Aimee Kaufman and Jay Kristoff and I'm in love😍
Nonfiction Recommendations Video? “I contain multitudes” sounds interesting. I would just be scared that I would never pick it up once it was on my shelf 🙈
Would really like to read more non fiction. Recently read “Educated” and really enjoyed it.
Yay to Binti!!! Also I gotta read the holy sister books
If you'd like to read more Michael Crichton I highly recommend Timeline. It's my second favorite after Jurassic Park.
I like monthly tbr videos.^^
Well, I have some authors I want to read everything he/she writes, but I always check the summary and if I don't like it, I skip it ^^
I love Marie Lu, but I wasn't interested in her Catwoman / or was it Superman? - book.
Thx for this video 😊
Please do your book hauls monthly!
Nevernight and godsgrave... love them so much 💜💜💜
I’d love to get you to post videos on like first books cause I love your channel believe me it’s just hard to go through all your videos to find the first books of the ones you post in your monthly videos. Best t shirt ever. 😄
Either way you like! Monthly or a big haul ;)
I think you'll enjoy Reasons to Stay Alive. It's a memoir but It's really good and life changing.
These hauls of yours are always dangerous! I love them, but I always want to go out and buy everything that you mentioned :) Also, I feel the same about the domestic thrillers, it seems like lately there really isn't anything else out there in the thriller department :(
Isn’t the Sue Grafton book part of a series ? for some reason i think she has a book for every letter of the alphabet
4:59 what did you say? Magic link to what? Mats?
I was listening to this video and when you said Sightwitch I understood Sandwich and was so confused 😂
Painted man and blood song are pretty good
About Matt Haig (an author I love): Reasons is non-fiction and about his experience with depression, it's wonderful and inspiring. The Radleys is great, I hope you like it!
😰😰😰 I’ve read the Radleys and ... it was mostly annoying I have to say ... l’m willing to hear your thoughts on this one 🤔 I’m curious
I’m super curious to read the Holy sisters series but I’m not sure I’m gonna like it so I’m gonna ask my library to order at least the1st one 🧐🧐🧐🧐
Love you 😘
This has nothing to do with books but you look like a real life elf!

Good luck with Matt Haig; really enjoyed The Humans, everything else I read by him was meh. Everyone has different tastes. I read The Radleys and How to Stop Time.
The last book I bought was A Conjuring of Shadows by V. E. Schwab
I enjoyed this video, thank you for posting :)
monthly, please!
I would love to see an unhaul!
Love hauls! But honestly its whatever you prefer because big hauls are fun, but so are lots of mini ones.
Edit: I feel the same way. I like to find more books from the author to see if they're so good that I want to read all of their works
