You're very welcome Emily (I'm the Kirsty from New Zealand). Hobbiton is amazing, I've been a couple of times now. I wish I lived closer to it, I'd go all the time. Stephen King - my favourites are Desperation and The Green Mile
My favorite part of the video is that you look so much happier after this surgery. I hope you read them all and make more videos. I like watching your videos and your smile. 💕
Thank you! I've been sleeping much better... now I'm just waiting for the shit comments on my beauty channel to not get to me anymore and I'll be all good lol
I’m so glad you are back and feeling good, I love your videos and your sense of humor. I would love to see a video about the ten books you have read of Stephen King
Omg!!!! The Witching Hour is EPIC!! I love that story so so much. I recently found an original hardback of it, I read it like 20 years ago and need to do a reread!!!
Glad to support the channel Emily! (Alexander from the US) 😁 I remember this book being one of my first reads for fun and I loved it. I haven't reread it since then, but I hope it holds up well!
The Mayfair Witches is one of my favorite series and The Witching Hour is the best of the series (and one of my very favorite books). I always want more backstory and Anne Rice definitely delivers all of those little details that I crave.
The Dark Half is in my top favorite Kings! Super good and fun. Gerald’s Game and Dead Zone are also really good!! Dead Zone is less horror but such a good story.
I just red Alice's adventures in wonderland and trough the looking glass and I totally loved it!!! I enjoyed the whole trip and I must say that its better even than the cartoon movie!! Happy reading Em!
I read the Paper Menagerie a few years ago and loved it!! There are a couple of duds/really dry, odd stories, but overall definitely worth the read. Hope you enjoy it!
I've heard that with Joe Abercrombie's new series, you have to read his first law trilogy and the other set of books in the same universe. Otherwise massive spoilers for everything!!
I read an excerpt from Interview With The Vampire by Anne Rice recently in an anthology and was so impressed that I'm planning on getting a bind up of the first three books of her Vampire Chronicles.
I can't wait to hear your thoughts on Blackwing. I recently read Crowfall and the entire series is fantastic! Crowfall is right up there with Holy Sister on my favorites list this year. Also, I love Practical Magic! The book and movie are great
I'm super excited about A Little Hatred, but if you want to avoid spoilers I wouldn't start with that.. It's part of Joe Abercrombie's First Law universe, and the suggested reading order is this: -The Blade Itself -Before They Are Hanged -Last Argument of Kings -Best Served Cold -The Heroes -Red Country -Sharp Ends -A Little Hated
Arrival was Ted Chiang and the story Arrival is from the book Stories of Your Life and Others. Ken Liu is also the translator of Liu Cixin Three Body Problem, all of them are amazing books.

That poetry book by Amanda Lovelace woke my interest :) I don't read poetry that much but her books seems interesting. Your book taste is good, even tho I don't read much scifi :D But you always got me interested about books that I would not pick up myself but I still really wanna read them.
I wanted to recommend Witchmark for a witchy book but then I saw that it's on your wishlist already... and then I saw the funny comments you left there :D hilarious. I started college (and have 2 cats) so I don't have that much to spare, but I just might buy you some tea or patches for your pillow :D 5/7 would save a pillow anyday
Thank you 😂❤️ I really want to read that book I keep hearing great things and that cover really attracts the eye... Idk why I've been a bit too influenced by covers lately lol
My favourite witches stories are from Terry Pratchett's witches novels in the Discworld series. Specifically Wyrd Sister and especially Witches Abroad which is one of my favourites from the entire series.
The Witching Hour! I read it a long time ago and really liked it. I don’t remember it having a lot of romance or sex. Interview with the Vampire by Anne Rice is a great book. It is more than just a vampire book. It is about loss and grief.
Love your shirt! I would really like to see the beginner's guide to scifi part 2. I really liked the first one and just read Dark matter wich was amazing!
I've been really loving the Tiffany Aching Discworld series by Terry Pratchett. It's a unique take on witchcraft and absolutely hilarious. I recommend listening to the audio book, the narrator does an incredible job.
The Dead Zone is one of my favourites by Stephen King. Fun fact some of the movie adaptation was shot in the town of Niagara On The Lake Ontario which is about 20 minutes from where I live. The gazebo scene the gazebo is still there too :)
Oh I envy you for A Little Hatred (already pre ordered it btw), I have read all of his novels and recommend you to start with The Blade Himself (actually just read the whole trilogy, they are very very good if you like grim fantasy), this would be the one I'll start among all the books in the video. His novels are great on audio as well. As for Stephen King, both The Dark Half and The Dead Zone are very good but I pick Dead Zone if I had to choose.
Hey. Great to have you back! Have you read the Winternight trilogy by Katherine Arden? It's got witches and dark Russian folklore. I absolutely loved it.
After you read Practical Magic, I highly recommend you pick up The Rules of Magic. It’s a prequel to Practical Magic and it’s all about the aunts. I loved it!!
I'm currently reading Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norell, which is about magic and I'm lovely it. The first 100 pages are pretty slow but after that the story really gets going
The Mayfair Witches, i.e The Witching Hour, ties into her vampire series. The two subsequent book are Lasher and Taltos. Loved the series! Read it when I was 14/15. The Dead Zone is a brilliant book. Gerald's Game is disturbing. Enjoy!
A Little Hatred is amazing. One of my favorite reads of the year! However, if you have some time, read at least The First Law trilogy first. Not only it's one of the best character-driven grimdark fantasy, it will also helps making A Little Hatred a better read!
I’m reading The Dead Zone right now for the first time and really liking it! It’s a little more episodic feeling than his other novels but still very compelling. Curious to see which one of those mystery/thriller arcs you end up reading!
I'm interested to see what you think of Anne Rice's The Witching Hour. I read that book a while a go but some parts are still fresh in my memory. There were a lot of disturbing stuff in it.
If you want to read peculiar short stories, you should try Haruki Murakami's books! And I'd also recommend 'Where Rainbows end' by Cecelia Ahern, both funny and heartbreaking (you may have seen the film adaptation 'Love, Rosie).
Anne Rice is one of my favorite authors - especially this time of year going into the fall. Her writing is so atmospheric! I read “The Witching Hour” years ago, and I remember really liking it. He books aren’t romance-heavy like you’re thinking. You should give it a shot!
Never read a mystery/ thriller but I’ve started picking some of your recommendations up and I’m going to give it a try and see how I go. I’m usually strictly fantasy with maybe a contemporary every now and then so I’m excited to branch into something new 🤞🏻😊 (fingers crossed I like them)
Would you consider making a video on steampunk recommendations? I'd love to start reading stories in that setting but I really struggle to know where to begin!
For A Little Hatred I'm pretty sure it follows on from the First Law series, I'm not 100% sure but I think you have to read those first? Otherwise it spoils some things for those books. Just a heads up as I'm also about to get into the First Law universe this month! ^__^
Oh and that Joe Abercrombie book? I heard it’s part of a big series. It is a new story but set in the same world. Like Six of Crows.... people say you don’t “need” to read TGT in order to enjoy it but it’s certainly much better to do so.
@@BookswithEmilyFox There is a quite a lot of it and a fair amount is nonconsensual. Though if I remember correctly most of those acts were only mentioned not described in detail.
@@lindseyshugg8900 Do you think I can skip Interview with the vampire since I watched the movie and don't want to read the story I already know? Or should I readit anyway and then continue with the series?
@@normagruden You could skip the book. The movie is pretty close. Maybe read a quick online synopsis that might outline the differences between book and movie. There are a few differences that become relevant in later books, but nothing too major.
I think 'A little hatred' takes place in the same universe as previous Joe Abercrombie books. I'd start with the first book in his First Law trilogy 'The Blade Itself'. Or if you're looking for something lighter and quicker, the Shattered Sea trilogy that begins with 'Half a king' :)
I read The Witching Hour probably 20 odd years ago. My reading tastes have always fluctuated, but I LOVED this book. Quite a bit of sexy stuff/romance from memory, but it's stayed on my shelves this long for a reason 😊
Interesting selection of books, hope you'll enjoy all of them! I'm in the process of reading all of Stephen King's novels in chronological order (1 per month, will only take me about 8 years...) so a video about your experience with his books would be cool. I read The Dead Zone a year ago and enjoyed it (4 stars) and remember liking The Dark Half as well (read it about 15 years ago). Happy weekend! ;)
For Anne Rice I suggest reading Interview with the Vampire and no her books are not all sexual she does have a couple books in a small series that are but they are not all like that. The Vampire Chronicles are different. I highly suggest reading Interview first before starting The Witching Hour I heard its great as well though I still need to read it. Interview is a great book.
The Enchantment of Ravens actually has some pretty mixed reviews, at least from what I have heard. I really wanted to read it when it first came out because it is beautiful, but the reviews kind of scared me off. But if you end up liking it I might give it a chance!
For me A Wrinkle in Time is iconic. I re-read that book quite a few times. Whenever someone says they didn't care for it I think sacrilege Can't wait to hear your opinion :) I read The Witching Hour and that is when I learned that great authors can create great messes. I read it all the way through and was so angry at myself for not DNF'ing.
I own all of Amanda Lovelace's books. You don't have to read Princess before Witch since Witch in my opinion is better. I would recommend going back to reading it after, if you enjoy her work.
nooo, not a 2nd ps i love you movie is coming out, but cecelia ahern is coming out with a sequel book called "Post Script", on September 19th =) it is possible, though, that the movie rights have already been acquired. I'm so freaking excited for it, she's my fave author
Anne Rice is a master of ambiance, perfect for autumn. I do recommend that you start from the beginning with the vampire chronicles, or some of her stand-alone books (Cry to heaven is my favorite). She creates characters that are so complex and human (especially the vampires). Sadly her newer books are not as good in my opinion ☹️
If you want witches read 'Equal Rites' by Terry Pratchett. It's one of his discworld novels. I think I've seen it on your shelves before (sorry if you've already read it. I haven't made it through all your videos yet). Granny Weatherwax is amazing!
I really want to hear a review of The Last. It’s been on my reading list for awhile. It’s marketed as sci-fi but the reviews I’ve seen have been all over the place
xD The Witching Hour is huge!! My edition has 1261 pages lol. It is a little bit sexual though. I've only read two books by her, the other one being Interview with the vampire and that's my favorite one.
A Little Hatred is my most anticipated book of the year. You need to have read the first trilogy, though, as this is the follow up. That trilogy is my favorite fantasy series. It can be brutal, but it is so smart and full of dark humor, as well as very well written. Besides being super entertaining, it has a lot to say about power (political, religious, economic), those pulling the strings and those being pulled, about war and violence, and the choices individuals make.
Love love love The Paper Menagerie, such a wonderful collection of science fiction and magical realism (though don't let that throw you off!). I went to a talk by Ken Liu, he's a pretty cool guy.
Stephen King has so many books, and so many styles and subjects.. you could wait forever to do a big overview video. So just do one soon 😆 Anne Rice has a great writing style, very gripping. I started with the vampire series after seeing Interview with a vampire, and loved her dark, gothic type of romantic atmosphere. The witching hour is also a very good series - definitely recommend starting that on a rainy autumn day soon. Abercrombie.. jealous you got that already! But as others have mentioned, maybe do First Law first. And the stand alones. I need to reread everything soon. Yay! 😁 Also curious what you think about Blackwing. Hope you find joy in fantasy again, cause there's so much good stuffff. 😇
Interview with a Vampire by Anne Rice is probably my favorite book of all time. Fun fact, she wrote the script for the movie, which is why it's one of the best adaptations.
I know you're still recovering, but I love your chubby cheek smile :D I'm so happy you're back making videos and I hope you're doing amazing :3 love you Em!
i heard about 'Little Hatred' being the first book in a new trilogy of that author but i also heard it's not really a standalone trilogy but a continuation of his already existing ones. i got told not to pick it up before i read the other ones (which are supposedly amazing?) because it'd spoil some things. i seriously dunno how true that is but i think in case you decide to pick that one up you should check around what's up with that. loved the haul, so many pretty books in one place!
You're gonna have to teach that camera who's boss....

Wow, I literally never heard anyone liking an Enchantment Of Ravens :) great haul ❤
For fox sakes...
I'm reading my first Joe Hill (I started Heart Shaped Box but it was bad timing.) and some parts are hard to read.
Blackwing is one of my favourite books of the year! The audio book is awesome if you can get your hands on it. I hope you enjoy it :D
Love love love The Paper Menagerie, such a wonderful collection of science fiction and magical realism (though don't let that throw you off!). I went to a talk by Ken Liu, he's a pretty cool guy.
You will love The Witching Hour!
Stephen King has so many books, and so many styles and subjects.. you could wait forever to do a big overview video. So just do one soon 😆
Anne Rice has a great writing style, very gripping.
Yay! 😁
Also curious what you think about Blackwing.
Hope you find joy in fantasy again, cause there's so much good stuffff. 😇
Interview with a Vampire by Anne Rice is probably my favorite book of all time.
Fun fact, she wrote the script for the movie, which is why it's one of the best adaptations.
Do you feel that the next two books in the series are worth reading?
@@shmizzleshmazzle9830 Definitely. the fourth book, "Tale of the Body Thief" as well.
Her style may not appeal to everyone, but I like all of her books.
I would love a ranking of Kings’ books!
I am reading the complete and uncut version of The Stand
I know you're still recovering, but I love your chubby cheek smile :D I'm so happy you're back making videos and I hope you're doing amazing :3
love you Em!
i heard about 'Little Hatred' being the first book in a new trilogy of that author but i also heard it's not really a standalone trilogy but a continuation of his already existing ones. i got told not to pick it up before i read the other ones (which are supposedly amazing?) because it'd spoil some things. i seriously dunno how true that is but i think in case you decide to pick that one up you should check around what's up with that.
loved the haul, so many pretty books in one place!
Definitely read The Dead Zone. It’s Golden Age King. The Dark Half was ok, I’ve not read Gerald’s Game.
