SM shouldve accepted that invitation from Coachella. Such a missed opportunity. It's okay to have only one song. And they should perform the members old songs depending on their group/solo work.
@@sugarysubs7821exactly, when SuperM toured the set list featured solo performances from the members, and Taeyong and Ten's NCT U subunit song "Baby Don't Stop". They could have started with a cover version of a song from SNSD, for instance. They could have performed other covers as a whole group, maybe an SES song. They could have performed at least one new track as a group. The members could have done a mix of solo and duo performances, with BoA, Taeyeon, Hyo, and Wendy having solo releases they could have performed. They could have performed special versions of songs like maybe Karina and Winter could have done a version of "Monster", or Taeyeon and Wendy could have done a duet of a BoA song. Then they could finish with "Step Back". There's so many things they could have done. It's a huge missed opportunity.
@@sugarysubs7821yessss they could’ve had unit performances when they only had one song that time. A Girl’s gen song perf by hyo and taeyeon and a Red Velvet’s song perf by Seulgi and Wendy and an Aespa perf for Karina and Winter. What a huge missed opportunity.
Actually 2 members of GOT The Beat got to go to Coachella 2022. Karina and Winter joined Giselle and Ningning as Aespa and they performed at Coachella 2022 after they were invited by 88rising as part of their promotion. They did a good job and I hope they got another invite to perform at Coachella in future with more live stage experience under their belt.
I think the rotating members system woulld have been a FANTASTIC idea, especially for bgs that have members who have military service, and for the soloists/groups that have have conflicting schedules
Wasn't NCT (or atleast Dream)'s concept supposed to be somewhat like that at the beginngin, plus TripleS is trying to do something similar to that; I think a complete rotation wouldn't work that well but it definitely has potential - sub-units really should be used more for different groups, it shouldn't be something this rare, there are sub-units bigger than the original group so why wouldn't you experiment more with it
NCT U is NCT's rotating members system of subunits, but you're not wrong for mentioning DREAM. Initially DREAM was going to have a graduation system, where members would leave/graduate the group upon reaching adulthood. Mark actually graduated from DREAM, and they had comebacks with six members. However fans had got very attached to the seven members, and the concept wasn't very popular. So eventually it was decided that Mark would rejoin the group, and they would become a permanent seven member subunit. The graduation system is used and has been successful in J-pop, but it's not been successful in K-pop. After School is another group who had members graduating and leaving the group, and it's widely thought to have affected their popularity. When popular members would graduate people who biased the members who were leaving would lose interest in the group. Some fans would also be put off by the idea that their favourite members could leave at any time. With DREAM at least fans knew when the members were due to leave, as it was when they reached adulthood, but this still didn't make the system any less unpopular, and DREAM fans were really happy when they scrapped it. NCT U works because members take it in turns to form different subunits, and I was looking forward to GOT having different subunits. I think it would have been a good idea with SuperM, too. Both groups were affected negatively by fans of the members groups and solo careers. This affected GOT The Beat's last comeback, too. It was very poorly handled in a lot of ways, but there was a lot of backlash particularly from fans of aespa, and Red Velvet, who wanted to see group comebacks rather than GOT The Beat. @@thethingcalledlisa

SM has been experimenting the rotating members since Super Junior. It doesn't work. But because SM has been experimenting a lotta stuff with Suju, they've drawn their hypothesis with Nct and it finally work.
The way people talked about BOA you'd think she was 45+ (and nothing wrong with that either, it would’ve been even more iconic to see even older idols in the group!) I was shocked to find out she was only 35 at the time.
I mean, you gotta understand. BOA is like the most popular 1st gen kpop idol so people expect her to be old. Not because of her appearance or her actual age. I was kinda shocked after finding out she's the same age as Suju's maknae line (Donghae, Eunhyuk and Siwon)
Some people's perception of time got messed up. People know she is Gen1 but also forget she debuted at 13. Kind of like that one year with Taemin. People were shocked he was only 25 that year because Shinee was an 11-year-old group. They just forgot he debuted at 14.
BOA mentioned her struggle about GOT the beat in Lee Hyori's show (seoul chek in). Years in solo then suddenly in group. This group actually have a great prospects, sadly SM poorly manage them.😢
I don't think they were meant to last. This was an experiment to combine the 4 generations of kpop and IT did it's job. IT was a collabs and not an establish gorup, the girls didn't disband their own groups, Red Velvet and Aespa are still very much active, They Say Girls generation are not fully disbanded ( tho i don't beleive them, certanly most of them are retired form kpop, only some are solo active) and BOA was a solist all her life, and let's be honest She IS in antoher level. IT was just a collabs and we enjoyed it
aespa wasn't fresh off their debut when they were added to GOT the beat! it was at the end of 2021? so they already had next level and savage under their belt and had established themselves as monster rookies. just a little note haha - it would make more sense to why they were added this way, the public already knew about them and would be interested in their collaborations with their senior artists :) edit: + rv had made their post-psycho comeback (queendom) and taeyeon released weekend in 2021. i think there was a little mistake where the 2020 releases were mentioned as their latest ones oops
Aespa debut NOVEMBER 2020. GOT debut JANUARY 2022. That is “FRESH”. It means the members had ONLY 2021, that’s not only 1 year but the FIRST YESR of their debut, to prepare for GOT’s debut.
Step Back was fantastic musically, terrible lyrically yet, but experimental and unique with that deliberately off-key string accompaniment. The follow-up took too long (a year) and Stamp On It was not good enough to be a single, (perhaps Alter Ego would have been a better choice). That Coachella thing breaks my heart - they could easily have learnt some Boa/SNSD/Red Velvet/Aespa songs, and the performance would have been huge news in Korea, the U.S. and globally. SM mis-handled this.
The way SM promoted GOT The Beat's comeback song Stamp On It was a shocker. Why they performed that song at SMTown concert on New Year's Day 2023 before releasing that song and their mini-album a month later was beyond me. I have no issues with 1 year gap between releases as long as the song was promoted properly and unfortunately SM stuffed it up.
I'm STILL mad af THAT alter Ego wasn't the title track. That album was actually so good and Stamp on it was the worst song on it 😭 SM ruined what could have been amazing.
because each of them are holding the main part in their original groups. They pick the best one. They got 3 main vocalist, 3 main dancer plus rapper, and boa. Their biggest mistake was for not giving snsd members the best part of the second songs.. kind of waste
@@btsismyoxyjin2013 nuh i was so upset when wendy get the high note, that should be Taeyeon. The dance break was boa not Hyoyeon. It was messed up all over the place
Tbh this group has so much potential. But you really nailed that on the head. It was a girl group. And yes the Coachella thing HYO pissed me off so much bc it was a missed opportunity. The lyrics of Step Back, the fact they didn’t release the song weeks later, also releasing the MV way after the performance of Stamp On It weeks later. It was a mess
Hyoyeons singles after dessert are TOP TIER KPOP… I’m so sure she actually does choose her music discography because she just gets music in pretty sure especially with dancing…. She has potential but always pushed aside…. GIVE HYO A LISTEN YOU GUYS…💗💗👌🫂🔝💫
The fact that Boa herself said that their mv isn't getting many views as they expected tells a lot about their downfall because of SM mismanagement. The group had so much potential to be of the most talented and popular kpop gg but got wasted for nothing.
If the songs had been good and not a misogynistic, girl-on-girl-hate mess, they would've been great. I wanted the rotating members to happen too. All the SM women in one group collabing in different ways together? YES PLEASE.
I truly loved this group and their music. Having them rotate members would have been amazing. This group had so much POTENTIAL like so much potential. It would have been amazing to see these girls on Coachella if they accepted the invitation.
Actually 2 of the GOT The Beat did go to Coachella 2022...Karina and Winter. 88rising invited Aespa to perform at Coachella 2022 as part of their promotion.
I'd love a video about BoA and the unnecessary criticism she gets. Honestly, I never understood that. Isn't she a legend in Korea? She is incredibly talented and a very important senior. Don't hate the queen BoA
Bc these newer gens and their fans dont know what boa/snsd/old gen has done for them, the reason is ageism and sexism to be honest. Cause if boa was a man theyd be thirsting at their OPPA🙄🤦♀️
Yeah mostly ageism. Kpop is so much about the spectacle of shiny new things now. Constantly moving. All about the shiny performance with lip synced vocals (BoA had a strength and history of singing live while perf). BoA isn't the shiny new toy of a group so the new kids into kpop are disrespectful. Think of that Simpsons meme with the Lamb and baby lamb
Because Boa hasn't reliaze to herself up to this point her music direction is no longer relevant in this generation. Not gonna lie i've been following certain SM Groups for years and i'm always fully aware of older generation idols in SM are all scared to admit to accept the reality of their career is already ending as an idol. Reason why i'm dissapointed to their traits of dickriding their junior for free promotion for them and that's exactly what i've been seeing with Boa. Also, at this time isn't she suppose to venrture out her music artistry to something what Lee Hyori's been doing lately? For someone who's been in the business for too long and her reputation she's still lost to what music or what audience she wanted to reach out because no way you've agree to singing "step back silly boy or stamping your boy" etc at this point.🤦
@@savage_0217if you actually cared you would know that she IS branching out her artistry. She’s been in reality shows, acting, producing, and she’s been a judge for survival shows.
Hindsight is a wonderful thing. We'll never know how good they were if they accepted the invitation to perform @Coachella 2022. In fact 2 members of the group did perform @Coachella 2022...Karina and Winter. Aespa was invited by 88rising as part of their promotion during that year's Coachella.
@@divx1001 It is relevant. If SM allowed Aespa to go to Coachella (although invited by another company), why didn't SM allow GOT The Beat to go to Coachella? Food for thought I reckon.
I will not forgive SM for doing this to such a talented group. The first song had very questionable lyrics, the music videos weren’t funded well, they didn’t even try to promote them and on top of that there isn’t a proper music video for their 2 title songs.Honestly they shouldn’t have formed this group if they had no intention to support them financially. It felt like they just wanted to produce some set of albums before the year was over. So disappointing 😢.
They wasted so much of talent. Like they could have been so much more than what they became. You got the best of the best talent and it's a shame how they were wasted. I really want GOT to have a better future
I think huge mistakes were made. You get offered Coachella for a new Kpop Super Group and you turn it down??? Seriously. You take the time to assemble the 7 truly super woman in SM (BoA, Taeyeon, Hyoyeon, Seulgi, Wendy, Karina and Winter). That is HUGE. I absolutely agree with Daniel Yuri Rubinstein. You assemble these 7 women who are hands down even MORE incredible that the assembly for SuperM. You do that. Coachella acknowledges that SuperStardom and offers SM a prime gig and SM turns it down?
I am so confused as to why GOT the beat didn't get as much money during their debut as Super M. Boa is literally the executive director of SM (I double checked just now to be sure). How do you not give your executive director anything she needs for a successful debut?
I loved this group of people being put together, it had SO MUCH potential and SM could have something unamatched in their hands with the amount of talent in there. Also I listened so so so much to their EP (I still listen to this day), although apparently just me and Nathan LoL But I think there was no recovery for how bad the messaging of Step Back was. I still cringe when I think about it and I do believe It literally aliened its potential female fanbase right there. Plus the way they didn't even had a MV or properly promoted made clear to the public if the company didn't care, they shouldn't care.
Actually, when it was first announced, we were told every female idol under SM would get their turn in Girls on Top. When their 2nd comeback came and it was the same members, most fans realized this group would be an afterthought and their 1st comeback may be the least we see of them
I think the way they treated the group, it felt more like a "filler" for SMCU or whatever the SM events are called rather than an actual subunit. Also, SM would rather go bankrupt than actually promote or protect their female artists
I watched a interview Taeyeon did with 2 members of Super Junior. They started a show called something like "come over here". They asked her about GOT. She said it's frozen, and she does not feel very optimistic about it. Something like that.
My favorite music comes out of SM but the company pisses me off to no end the way they are consistently dropping the ball. Their idols have so much talent yet it is often wasted because of the company.
I wish they would've rotated out members. It felt a lot like they just stuck with that line-up because they were the "popular" ones, and, as much as I loved Stamp on It, it felt way too similar to Step Back to be interesting. I think an important point about the failure of Stamp on It (both in terms of the MV and the sales) was that a lot of Aespa and Red Velvet fans at the time were very vocally upset over the lack of new promotions for those groups and that GOT promotions felt like just another hurdle to group activities. I remember the rumor at the time that recording of Stamp on It put off the release of MY World, which had been rumored to be released earlier. Whether or not that was true, that was certainly the perception at the time, and likely led to a lot of fans of the various artists not wanting to support this "side project". As far as other groups to cover, I always think that the story of Lightsum is interesting, especially given the relative success of the other post-IZ*ONE groups.
They should have at some point had Irene from Red Velvet as she is still most popular as well as added joy and from aespa NingNing and Joy together the fans would have loved
@@btsismyoxyjin2013 just everglowup still trying to save her alts and trying to look nice with them after being confirmed with solid proof that they are her alts like winterosy nabicore peachxtaehyung choujimi overthinking kpop aedark etc.
I have always been confused as to why SM wanted to create super groups and give them experimental music. They wouldn't gain a new audience and with the fact that SM cannot properly schedule anything, the group fans were rightfully mad
BoA is still the most selling and longest performing female soloist in korean music history, she literally paved the way for Kpop to become known in asia, for a decade people thought she was a superstar from Japan because she was HUGE there. And since Korea absolutely hates women (see every scientific international research by OECD, UN, etc), korean incels clearly want powerful women like her to fail. BoA is known for not sugar-coating her words, she was one of the first female juryist of one of the first big music audition shows in Korea (Survival Audition Kpop Star) along with YG and JYP themselves. She's THE queen of Kpop.
I think we also have to think about the group fans that were upset about this super groups. I remember seeing comments saying that this group would delay the original group activities. Aespa and red velvet being the most prominent ones. Aespa especially because there were rumors that their album was being delayed. So stans were telling one another, on twitter, to not buy GOT albums and save money from the inevitable aespa album that was coming. I believe that Stan competition hurt GOT too.
It is why people called kpop is manufactured. Because SM think their idols are just their employees. So the art decision mostly come from the company, not from the artist. Thats why several SM idols left SM for their individual project.
This is such a mess because this group has so much potential : BoA is in the top female dancers of Kpop aswell as a good vocalist, writer and can rap a little (an Ace) Taeyeon is one of the best Kpop vocalists Hyoyeon is one of the best female dancers and a decent rapper with good sp Karina is an all rounder and is really popular, Winter too Wendy is one of the best Kpop vocalists Seulgi could be a main dancer and a main vocalist
idc what anyone says i fucking love step back!! the hate around the song even seemed forced at times and i think it just ended up being this big pile on. their ep was really good too. sad they fumbled the project.
I didn't like it off first listen based on the weird background instrumentals but it grew on me really hard! I hope they can save this concept and group. Fans deserve a statement regarding status of the group from the company.

It honestly bothered me so much that they did not even get a proper M/V - just a dance video.. it felt like SM did not want to invest much/did not believe into them themselves
Makes me sad. The Coachella thing would of been amazing. Step back as cringy as the lyrics were, still ate. Imagine if they got to put out more and drop the cringy lyrics and lean into the girl crush concept. The fan base would of been on their knees.
I will support them no matter what. Their "Stamp on it" comeback changed my life literally. Every song was great and I would love to see SM give them another chance
i really want to see a JYPE 4th gen mixed supergroup: Changbin and Jisung as main rappers and producers (+ Chan as a songwriter and producer) Lily and Haewon as main vocalists Yeji and Chaeryeong as main dancers Xdinary Heroes as their live band like tell me they wouldn't automatically be the most talented group of 4th gen (+ most of them are friends, especially Skz ans Itzy, so im sure theyd all love the idea too)
You see, this is why being SM stan is the best. They love mixing their members line up, experimenting and stuff so all these collabs are possible while it's hardly possible for artists in other company. SM the Ballad literally gathering all SM main vocalists in a group. SM the Performance, Younique, Kyuline Girl's Day, etc. It's fun. I hope we can see these kind of things for Jyp and Yg groups Not only that, they have SMtown concerts so you can see all SM artists at once. Other companies should follow them but kpop stan gonna bark saying people copying their fav 🙂

@arti_0325 this is why Yg need to have thing like this cuz there's other Yg artists like Winner and Akmu but they're underrated. When I think of GOT, I think of a few words/phrases: *Missed opportunities* (for them to branch out and go global) *Missed potential* (for them to do way more as a group) *Disappointment* (in SM) *Sadness* (for the fact that they ended before even really getting started)
Believe it or not Stamp on it was my most listened song last year on Deezer, like, it's so bad they flopped cuz they could have been huge with such talented members.
SM is that dumb kid who calls diamonds in hand as "idk very strong stones?". Amazing vocals like GOT should have gotten to grace Coachella. Their B sides Goddess Level and Alter Ego were soo good too.
I feel like the way SM advertised them they were always one foot in one foot out, like they were barely pushed as more than just an interesting thing to see one time and one time only rather than an actual group with a unique identity and a future. It always came across as if SM knew they'd just end up being an SMTOWN special act of the year.
Honestly this group is the best example talent isn't everything. You need good songs to be a great artists!! All of these idols have good songs as solo and in groups but in GOT the beat, they got really bad songs and concepts. It also explains how nmixx being insanely talented aren't as popular as new jeans being averagely talented. Good songs + basic skills >>>> bad songs + best skills.
Step back is a good song. It had problematic lyrics tho. Also they picked the wrong title track for their comeback! Any song on that mini could outdo STAMP ON IT. Rose or alter ego are better songs!
people in comments still questioning wendy's inclusion in girls on top/ got the beat when she was the one responsible for step back viralism with her lines and her stage presence, not only that she was one of the most talked about members in the unit only behind the aespa members imo the lineup of got wasn't the problem it was the fandoms and sm's mismanagement the rotation is going to be underwhelming when they literally made thr first lineup the strongest
Be real her stage presence is mid at best and she was only popular because of her new face. Karina and Winter were what made that horrible experiment as popular as it was because if she’s so popular where are these supposed fans when she just came back and it COMPLETELY flopped. There’s nothing strong about a lineup with Wendy when you already have taeyeon and I don’t care what anyone says her dancing does lack and she’s stiff.

I wish the girls who wasn't in GOT the Beat can do well in that unit. Since from the name itself, I think they can go for a brighter concept? Yoona, Irene, Joy, Yeri, Giselle, and Ningning's visuals definitely suit in these type of concepts.
SuperM had a "Blank Cheque" and more promotions because Capitiol Records were the ones funding a majority of SuperM's activities. It was no secret that CR wanted a successful Kpop BG and when the got SM to make SuperM they went wild with it. GOT The Beat was entirely funded by SM and follows a slightly more practical release approach, although they should've had at least a MV filmed.
@@Renee84 GOT The Beat or SuperM? For GOT The Beat, Lee Sooman has always loved rotational groups. But Kpop fans wont accept the concept because they get attached to the group dynamic rather then the individual idols. LSM based a lot off Jpop where this concept works well, but unfortunately for him it's not doable in Kpop. Its why Super Junior and NCT Dream had to give up their rotational concepts. After having seen SuperM work, LSM probably wanted to try his hand again with a female equivalent. Especially considering the original premise was every female idol under SM would be a part of GOT and could be called into a Sub-Unit. AKA his goal/dream of having a working rotational group would come true. Since SuperM was a fixed super group unlike GOT, although we only ever got one GOT Unit. As For why SuperM was made. To put it bluntly, Capitol Records wanted their own version of BTS or at least the same sorta success that they had. Before any hate comes, I'm a SuperM fan and a casual BTS fan. CR saw the success of BTS and approached SM/Lee Sooman about trying their own version with a group in America. Lee Sooman has also always wanted to go big in America, which is why he's sent previous acts such as BoA to debut there. It's the same reason why SM were going to do NCT Hollywood before Lee Sooman left. If Lee Sooman hadn't left SM and maybe also the Lucas drama happened then we probably would've got the SuperM comeback that was teased during either a BeyondLive or SM Town a year or two back.
SuperM was supposed to have a comeback last year around fall. It was on the SM artist calendar. But Kai enlisted earlier than expected screwing over both SuperM and Exo. (Most likely SM’s fault.) And not to mention COVID happening during their first tour, messing up all current and future plans for the group at the time. (Not SM’s Fault.) But what I’ve been trying to wrap my head around is why SM would create a super group, consisting of members whose military enlistments were right around the corner. (Entirely SM’s fault.) If we’re lucky, we might be able to get a comeback when Kai comes back and before Taeyong enlists but at this rate, we really shouldn’t hold our breath.
The rotating member idea sound amazing. They could have done a co-ed sub unit too Im surprised other companies havent done it. I want hybe to do it since they have a lot of groups
The fact that i knew they had an album just last october , GOT was miss the market that their individual group / soloist offers. I’ll hope they come back for one day 🤞
I think the success of the rotational group projects can also be seen in the SMCU albums. The b-side Zoo was very popular and people liked seeing boy groups and girl groups perform together. An album like that with a concept that isn’t Christmas/winter would also do very well.
I LOVE GOT THE BEAT! Their discographies are so good (some of the lyrics are questionable still) so I was very happy with this project. 4 generations in 1 group??? How insane is that! THEY MISSED OUT ON COACHELLA????? NAURRRRRR!!!!!!!! I feel bad they didn't have more investment and promotion from the company because they truly deserve all the attention. If this project is truly ended.....
Idk what the CEO of SM was smoking when they released the performance of the comeback instead of the music video, the hype for the group would’ve been still there if they released the teaser and next the MV instead of the performance (they did it the first time but considering the group will be releasing a mini album with a title track, you know there’s a music video for that.)
This was one of my favorite SM projects of all time, and some of their B-sides are some of my favorite SM tracks of all time. Absolutely crushed that they're finished. 😢
I don't think we'll be seeing any more Super M or GOT the Beat comebacks. Those were Lee Soo Man's brainchild, and we all know what happened to him. Plus, none of the individual fandoms were happy about GOT the Beat. It had been nearly a year since Taeyeon had had a comeback, SM still hadn't rescheduled Red Vekvet's cancelled concerts, and Aespa's fans were angry because they were spending all their time doing collabs and they still hadn't had a full album yet. I wasn't surprised when Stamp on It got boycotted.
I loved Got the beat, their mini album was really good. The members are so damn talented, they are the best of the best, there was so much potential, but sm didn't know how to do things right. Add to that that some fans where really lame hating on the group. It makes me really sad things didn't work out.
as a SONE, Reveluv, and MY I loved this!!! I was anticipating the other units. to see different members collaborating. but of Course SM fails. They treat all their groups bad, but their girl groups extremely. I loved Stamp On It. I think it was just really bad timing with everything going on.

SM doing the bare minimum for their female artists pisses me off!
It was supposed to be GOT … something Like NCT Got the beat is supposed to be one unit, like NCT 127. People said they supposed to hv GOT the heart next
The "super group" was way too ambitious. It was a weird direction. You can't coordinate everyone's schedule like that, especially when all the artists still have individual or group activities. When they debuted, I assumed it was because they wanted to promote Red Velvet but didn't want to make a comeback while Irene's scandal was still on everyone's minds.
Such a shame that this group didn't get the attention they deserved, I absolutely love their music. I loved every single song from the mini album right away except Mala, I was hesitant with that one, took me 3 listen to like it (still loved the line "We gon party till mañana" since I'm spannish). That aside, the production was crazy good (Shout out to Dem Jointz) and the line up is absoletely stacked, the only thing I would have liked to see is a stronger choreo. Although it had good parts it didn't really impress me. Guess I'll keep listening to the songs that we already have and hope for a comeback
the double standard in K-pop is so upsetting especially when you have such talented female artists who aren't offered the same opportunities as their male counterparts! no hate is intended here, nor am i talking about any specific group here but I often feel like girl groups are pushed to more difficult standards than boy groups are and are still ignored for their efforts :(
I got so hyped and proud the moment you spoke about the 4th gen girl groups taking over, more especially starting with LE SSERAFIM and playing SMART instrumental in the background!
I personally think GOT the beat has the biggest potential for being something. Unfortunately SM isn't managing or promoting them properly. Step back had such bad lyrics and I personally did not like Stamp on it. Listen to that once and never again, but I had no idea Stamp on it received a mini album. Once again showcasing how horrible SM was promoting the group. Edit, I would recommend making a video on Loona, and where all the different girls have ended up and how it's going for them. As someone who was only a casual listener, that's something that can be quite hard to figure out and remembering.
just everglowup still trying to save her alts and trying to look nice with them after being confirmed with solid proof that they are her alts like winterosy nabicore peachxtaehyung choujimi overthinking kpop aedark etc.
i highly believe that the whole project was a whim by Boa to have her own gg, and seeing how it failed to take off despite the legendary line up it was just dismissed, but that's just me
I was really expecting a comeback this January first. However I hope the girls the best on their group and solo activites and hopefully we might see GTB again who knows.
The main reason GOT flopped is because everyone’s respective fandom didn’t want them to succeed. Instead of GOT content, every fandom wanted each group/artist to release their own music. Aespa was still new and overdue for their own comeback, RV weren’t able to promote their own content properly and Taeyeon was over due for a tour following her releases. Fans refused to buy the album because they wanted sale numbers to go to their own artists. As the less popular members, that left BoA and Hyoyeon as punching bags. They were accused of using GOT to benefit their own careers when in reality it was a get quick rich scheme from SM that failed. The amount of hate and vitriol those two got was horrible. I hope the GOT concept never returns. We don’t deserve it and it’s always going to be a competition between the fans about why so and so got this part which ensues hate and fights between fandoms. We saw the same thing with Super M. Super groups aren’t a good idea.
Also Red Velvet are one of the biggest groups in 3rd gen arguably the 3rd most popular 3rd gen girl group so why preface it like that, even if you don’t Stan Red Velvet you absolutely know who they are.
SM shouldve accepted that invitation from Coachella. Such a missed opportunity. It's okay to have only one song. And they should perform the members old songs depending on their group/solo work.
They also had all the songs from the members. Imagine GOT performing Girls on Top or Next Level or Devil Run? Such a missed opportunity
Blackpink had 1 song for 5 years :P

Knowing they missed Coachella is BRUTAL. Seeing the Coachella line-up now as well... they deffo did get that invite. :(

They did a good job and I hope they got another invite to perform at Coachella in future with more live stage experience under their belt.
8:26 It's a numbers game. It's not the companies' fault that boy bands sell more than girl groups. That's just the sad reality.
I think the rotating members system woulld have been a FANTASTIC idea, especially for bgs that have members who have military service, and for the soloists/groups that have have conflicting schedules
Wasn't NCT (or atleast Dream)'s concept supposed to be somewhat like that at the beginngin, plus TripleS is trying to do something similar to that; I think a complete rotation wouldn't work that well but it definitely has potential - sub-units really should be used more for different groups, it shouldn't be something this rare, there are sub-units bigger than the original group so why wouldn't you experiment more with it
@@thethingcalledlisa nct u

Exactly 😑people literally act like once you are 30 you are grandma
I mean, you gotta understand. BOA is like the most popular 1st gen kpop idol so people expect her to be old. Not because of her appearance or her actual age.
I was kinda shocked after finding out she's the same age as Suju's maknae line (Donghae, Eunhyuk and Siwon)
Some people's perception of time got messed up. People know she is Gen1 but also forget she debuted at 13.
Kind of like that one year with Taemin. People were shocked he was only 25 that year because Shinee was an 11-year-old group. They just forgot he debuted at 14.

IT was just a collabs and we enjoyed it
aespa wasn't fresh off their debut when they were added to GOT the beat! it was at the end of 2021? so they already had next level and savage under their belt and had established themselves as monster rookies. just a little note haha - it would make more sense to why they were added this way, the public already knew about them and would be interested in their collaborations with their senior artists :)
edit: + rv had made their post-psycho comeback (queendom) and taeyeon released weekend in 2021. i think there was a little mistake where the 2020 releases were mentioned as their latest ones oops
2020 is when aespa debuted, Dec or Nov of 22 was the release of Step Back and then the album in January of 23
You'd expect that someone making an analysis video at least do the minimal research and check dates, my eye is popping lol
hyoyeon also had her comeback "second" 4 months before GOT debut. Dessert was in July 2020. I think he thought GOT debut was in December 2020
@CrisOnTheInternet Nathan isn't known for his "in-depth research."
Dude gets stuff wrong on a regular basis.
They always self sabotage. Like who is running this thing?? I never even knew there was an EP until just now. A year later lol
It doesn't even sound like music, it sounds like a glitch on repeat. SM really f*cked everything up.
I'm STILL mad af THAT alter Ego wasn't the title track. That album was actually so good and Stamp on it was the worst song on it 😭 SM ruined what could have been amazing.
Man, I don't know why I feel differently. Stamp On It was my bop for a good minute.

YES PLEASE.

I will not forgive SM for doing this to such a talented group. It felt like they just wanted to produce some set of albums before the year was over. So disappointing 😢.

I'm in the listening party with you guys too xD agree with everything you said.
I’m still listening toooo. I hope they do comeback soon, this time with more established promotions and guestings
Actually, when it was first announced, we were told every female idol under SM would get their turn in Girls on Top. When their 2nd comeback came and it was the same members, most fans realized this group would be an afterthought and their 1st comeback may be the least we see of them
I loved seeing Boa in the group! Seeing her do solo stuff and group stuff was so fun!

Since you put it that way that makes sense haha
14:54 The word you’re looking for is “ageism” (with a mix of misogyny).
Sm has been the most manufactured company too yes they had good music but that was mostly they had money to spend on decent ones lol

It also explains how nmixx being insanely talented aren't as popular as new jeans being averagely talented. Good songs + basic skills >>>> bad songs + best skills.
So true
Seulgi Karina Winter Hyo Boa all out danced her she just wasn’t needing to be there
@@hallie4rinaBy that logic we should've got a Taeyeon Hyoyeon duet bc they each outsings/outdances everyone else respectively? Idc about Wendy but they wanted a STACKED set of the best performers from each generation and yall are reaching so hard if you think someone else from RV would've improved how this group was received. What, you wanted Joy or Irene? Neither has the vocals to match Seulgi let alone Taeyeon & Winter lmao 👽 And as you said, in a lineup with Hyo BoA and Seulgi, Irene isn't bringing anything more to the table as a dancer. On that note Joy doesn't out-anything Wendy so actually she isn't even part of this discussion
@@orangetree6795 hyo is an okay singer at best and taeyeon is a decent dancer. Wendy still sucks and is racist and she’s a weak dancer with awkward stage presence that y’all play up as anything more than mediocre. They still flopped and she shouldn’t have been there and that’s why her solo flopped and Irene and joy would never have a flop solo. Irene is a better dancer and joy is prettier and can hold her own in a lineup with a singer like hyo and she’s as good of a singer as Karina. AND IRENE IS THE ONLY MEMBER OF RED VELVET that could bring any type of popularity to got.
@@orangetree6795don’t ever speak on Joy bitch. EVER. or Irene for that matter. Wdym no other members would have improved how the group was seen? Joy’s popularity enough could end flop Wendy. Joy Is THAT girl and Wendy is botched and could never compete. she has 8 million followers and joy has 14.6 million. Joy is Queen and Wendy is stiff. If Wendy is so popular why’d her solo flop
They failed for not including Ningning
😅that's obviously not the reason but I really wanted to see new lineup😢
The second unit name was supposed to be "GOT The Heart" I remember BOA said it in an interview. Though I honestly cant remember it, really wanted to see it.
Oh really!? That I would have loved to see
I wish the girls who wasn't in GOT the Beat can do well in that unit.
Oh wow! I didn’t know that. I know Columbia lost BTS when HYBE USA was formed with Scooter Braun whose artists were all with Universal.
So what was even the point of the group?

GOT The Beat or SuperM?
They could have done a co-ed sub unit too
Im surprised other companies havent done it.
If this project is truly ended.....
that sample in stamp on it is delicious and you kept replaying it on loop 😂
Idk what the CEO of SM was smoking when they released the performance of the comeback instead of the music video, the hype for the group would’ve been still there if they released the teaser and next the MV instead of the performance (they did it the first time but considering the group will be releasing a mini album with a title track, you know there’s a music video for that.)
red velvets latest release in 2021/2022 wasn’t psycho it was queendom
I thought that GOT was supposed to cycle through the female idols in SM. I was excited to see the possibility of Joy and Ning Ning in the same group.
This was one of my favorite SM projects of all time, and some of their B-sides are some of my favorite SM tracks of all time. Absolutely crushed that they're finished. 😢
Hoping they're comeback soon, there fvcking good
I don't think we'll be seeing any more Super M or GOT the Beat comebacks.
I enjoy every single song in their album (not usually happen to me with a kpop album)
Great video. Loved it. Great comments. Now all left it's to dream of a comeback in some form. An idea for next video? An updated video on Le Sserafim.
Yep I agree with the bad timing. If the mini album came after RV3 and AE1, I think the album could've sell a LOT. 😢
@@anneyoungparkagree!
They shouldve let aespa promote their group first and rv release the LONG AWAITED FULL album (after the wendy incident)
Then PUT ALL THE GIRLS YOU HAVE in that album, maybe just let GOT the beat members for the Title track!
U’ve done it with the smtown winter albums, surely u can do it with only 15 female artist you have, SM !
@@uc6758 yeah and if that Girls on TOP album happened with Got the Beat cb and new unit combinations from SM girlies, I have an ambitious wish, I want an SM women only concert. 😅
@@anneyoungpark gosh thats be a dreams come true hahah
I think SM just wanted to make quick money out of them. Knowing they have lot of popular girls in the group, but end up being a mess
I love got the beat and their music tbh i hope they will have a cb
Irene by herself could outsell GOT the beat with a solo album
Exactly
Realistically… That’s true
@@InternetsNathan I guess I manifested the news. IRENE SOLO COMING!!!!
@@ShadowboostWHEN?
@@svicidio this year. Irene will have a exhibition, a "I Feel Pretty" showcase, and a solo
They deserve another comeback 😢 really enjoyed the group. I just wish they could get better music
I have to admit, I was pretty excited for GOT debut, especially for the "rotation" concept, but STEP BACK wasn't really what I was expecting, so I dropped the group immediately! :( I didn't even bother to listen to Stamp On It, and it's sad cause with this lineup, they had everything to be successful and I blame SM for their downfall.
SM doing the bare minimum for their female artists pisses me off!
If they do GOT the beat as rotational unit just like NCT U. I think it will flourish more.
It was supposed to be GOT … something
Like NCT
Got the beat is supposed to be one unit, like NCT 127.
I would love to see you cover tripleS or vvup! And some older groups with incredible stories, such as t-ara, rainbow, secret and co!
the double standard in K-pop is so upsetting especially when you have such talented female artists who aren't offered the same opportunities as their male counterparts! no hate is intended here, nor am i talking about any specific group here but I often feel like girl groups are pushed to more difficult standards than boy groups are and are still ignored for their efforts :(
💯💯💯
I got so hyped and proud the moment you spoke about the 4th gen girl groups taking over, more especially starting with LE SSERAFIM and playing SMART instrumental in the background!
Everyone that has taste stans LE SSERAFIM and knows Smart is the better track 🤭
Can you please do a video on Refund sisters.
All I know is Got The Beat Wendy is something else! I swear Wendy can be Main anything. It is like Wendy has split personalities 😂😂😂
just everglowup still trying to save her alts and trying to look nice with them after being confirmed with solid proof that they are her alts like winterosy nabicore peachxtaehyung choujimi overthinking kpop aedark etc.
Is her other personality r@cism?
i highly believe that the whole project was a whim by Boa to have her own gg, and seeing how it failed to take off despite the legendary line up it was just dismissed, but that's just me
I mean, that could be true, but I don’t think she would’ve deliberately made a group just for her to feel “out of place” in
I was really expecting a comeback this January first.
The songs were so not it girl. How you wanna get RefdVelvet fans and SNSD fans with THESE tracks that are SO NOT them(
To this day, I still think that SM rushed GOT the Beat due to the fact of how successful Refund Sisters were on 2020
Also Red Velvet are one of the biggest groups in 3rd gen arguably the 3rd most popular 3rd gen girl group so why preface it like that, even if you don’t Stan Red Velvet you absolutely know who they are.
Right😢
It was mainly a mention to how competitive the 3rd gen girl groups were. When I make a video about Red Velvet it’ll become more clear
It takes a lot to screw up a group with several of the best K's to ever Pop, who could make just about any song sound great. It's an impressive feat.
their producer left the company. simple😭
