KFI makes a mounting plate for up high. Keeps it up out of the crap and gives better angle for plowing. Would also recommend synthetic, cable kinks, cuts and tears your head off if it snaps. If synthetic breaks just tie in a knot in a pinch. Roller fairleads work great for plowing but hawse is better for a sideways pull, cable can get stuck in the rollers. Warn makes a good winch but they screw up too, KFI, SuperWinch, Viper...all good. My 2c.
I'm installing a wired gps box I to my 500. Can I use any of the unused sub harness wires? I'd like it to only charge when the unit is on. Which color should I hook it to?

Would like to know if the winch you are installing in this video, is the part number: 08L71-HL5-E61 and the mount kit part number: 08L71-HL5-E60 ? Thank you.
Thanks for this and all the excellent videos related to the P520! I've noticed some p500 owners mount their winches high on the bumper while you mounted yours low. Is there any special reason for choosing one location over the other? And, is a different mounting plate required if you decided to mount it high? Thanks!
Different brands of winches mount them in different places I only use Honda warn accessories that are very high-quality👍 thanks for the views I really appreciate it
Don’t be too worried about it is pretty straightforward the hardest part is getting the wires under the floor but to make it easier you can just remove the floor panel it is not that hard I don’t have the part numbers right now but I will try to remember to grab them tomorrow
Can you provide the product number for the rocker switch wire harness that runs from the rocker switch to the celluloid and sub harness. Great video by the way!!
just put my winch in, (Pioneer 520) and the mounting plate and winch sit much higher. The bumper doesnt have to come off at all. Just set the winch/plate in right behind it. Very easy for that part
Great install job! Looks like you installed the new 520 Winch Mount Kit P/N: 08L70-HL5-E60, but I noticed the front of the box said Honda Pioneer 500. There is an older Winch Mount Kit P/N: 08L75-HL5-A01 from Honda for the Pioneer 500. I am not sure what the difference is between the old 500 versus the new 520 Winch Mount Kit other than the new Kit costs about $90 more. Anyhow, I spent hours surfing the net for a list of parts or contents for both Kits and couldn't find any clear information on what the difference is between the two Kits and why the new kit costs more. Can anyone explain the difference between the old 500 versus the new 520 Winch Mount Kit? Also, will the older Winch Mount Kit ending in 'A01' work on the Pioneer 520 or do you have to purchase the newer Kit ending in 'E60'?
So lucked out and ended up getting my 520 a couple of months ago. But my dealer said there is no wench available. Obviously there is. Would please list your you component source 👍🤷♂️

I say you work at that for a living you installed that winch with ease great job 👍
Thanks 👍
Thanks for posting. When my 520 comes in, I just might do this myself instead of having the dealer do it. Great video angles, too.

Nice work kid 👍 thinking about getting winch for my 520. I would have to find somewhere else for the mount under hood because i might get a glove box.

Want to do this myself but nervous about the wiring. Also can you post the part numbers for the winch and the winch mount. Thank you.

Great video by the way!!
The wire that hooks up to the switch is provided in the kit I do not have a separate part number for it

@@Maxsmotoshop lol yeah a win for the customer once in a while! Must be a new design that I benefitted from
I only install Honda warn winches aftermarket winches can be unreliable
@@Maxsmotoshop mine IS a Warn. Plus a Warn Honda, or Warn Yamaha or whatever is still a Warn. There's nothing special
That’s great you should be good to go then👍
Awesome job 👍

The only difference I could find was the plastic shield on the left side of the mount. Everything else looks the same.
What size winch? Never did see that.
I believe this was the 3500 pound but go to the Honda side-by-side website under accessories to make sure
