Next three movie reactions before they new year: The Notebook, Forrest Gump and... The Mist (🙃) alongside Dune Prophecy and Squid Game. January we start the journey of LORD OF THE RINGS! SUBSCIBE (pls)
The Mist isn't so much of a horror movie as much as spooky as suspenseful. The Mist is my absolute favourite short story of Stephen King's, but without spoiling, they changed certain things they shouldn't have. PS greatest reaction to this movie. My favourite movie ever. You were phenomenal to watch and listen to your point of view. That's gravy mate. LotR is gold. Almost nothing wrong with them.
For both Green Mile and Shawshank, your comments and questions have been more thoughtful than most reactors'. You also avoid the error of talking over the dialog to the point of ruining the film. Looking forward to more from you - hoping for The Mist soon!
@@JKWESITVwithout spoiling anything, the only thing I can say is that yes, it's _technically_ horror. 🙃 * I look forward to expanding on that when you get to it.
I read this story as a young teenager, and when I got to the part where the warden pulls the poster off the wall, I put the book down and laughed out loud just like you did. I was SO happy! ❤
I loved your reaction, man, during the movie & afterwards with your comments. I really was a pleasure to relive that through your eyes. About suggestions of other King screen adaptations, besides The Mist, I would include Misery.
This movie has so many clever little things snuck into it. That aria that Andy plays over the speakers is two women plotting a con, Gilda is the movie they are watching with Rita Hayworth and the two men are gangsters, that book by Dumas is about a prison break where they dig a tunnel. I know there are more, but those three are the ones off the top of my head.
Yeah, a couple things I know: you hear a harmonica when red approaches the tree at the end, in the background music... when Brooks leaves the prison the camera points back towards the prison, but when Red leaves it faces outward. Also, Reds commentary is all in the past tense until he leaves prison then it becomes the present as he begins to talk about hope and the future
Thank you, thank you.. for mentioning Stephen King! You don't know how many reactions I've watched to Shawshank, The Green Mile or The Shining and there is hardly ever any mention of the writer. The one individual who's creative mind gave birth to these magnificent stories.
Automatically obligated to watch any new Shawshank video the algorithm brings me. Great reaction! 3 films on my short list of favorite films are adaptations of writings from Stephen King. You already did two with Shawshank and Green Mile. The third you're missing is Stand By Me. HIGHLY recommend it if you haven't already seen it.
Sweet reaction Kwesi! Another great film, with a turn around, is "Scent of a Woman" (1992). Brilliant! This was Al Pacino's finest performance. Hope to see yourreaction to this film soon. Enjoy.
Re: bagging groceries. Most places don’t do it anymore. It’s viewed as a courtesy service so the nicer stores may do it. Students do it sometimes for tips to fund their organization or a sport club.
This is the best movie that most people never get tired of watching (#1 rating on IMDB for years). The Green Mile is the best movie that many people swear they'll never watch more than once. I watch them both repeatedly, mostly to not lose touch with my soul and humanity. They both have so many layers to them, I have new revelations every time I watch them.
Talking about hearing what the movie was about, I remember NO ONE talked about the ending to The Sixth Sense. So many people were shocked about that ending. That was so great!
He discovered the weakness in the wall early on when he tried to scratch his name in it. Once he saw how weak it was, he started formulating his plan. A very long & intricate plan.
I see you like good movies.. your reaction to green 💚 mile .. got to react to.. The beast of the southern wild.. I think you would love it .. great reaction.. and personality..
Your comments at the end, about hope, are surprising. They get to the heart of the story in a way that many people, even film critics, miss. I've seen people who took away, from this film, that the actual redemption was Reds. And, sure, he found a redemption, of a kind, and it's an important piece of the film. But it's not really what the story was driving at. I think that the ending of the movie can disguise the real redemption that took place in Shawshank... In the novella, it ends with Red crossing the border from Texas to Mexico. He is full to bursting with hope, and we never even get to see if it pays off… which is arguably a bit more powerful of a message. In the movie, there is a final payoff. We, the audience, see “proof” of the value of hope. In the novella, the final payoff is just the hope itself. The message is not “Keep on hoping and things will turn out!” The message is “Having something to hope for is a beautiful thing, even when it seems like it may be out of reach. You’d better get busy living, or get busy dying.” When the novella ends… it leaves the reader full of hope. Hope that Red makes it. That’s the Shawshank Redemption. It leaves us all with nothing more than hope.
Definitely here for Lord Of The Rings! For another film based on a Stephen King book I think you'd like 1983's 'The Dead Zone' starring Christopher Walken. A couple of symbolic moments about The Shawshank Redemption. Red says to Andy that his idea on what he'd do if he got out of prison was just "a shitty pipe dream." And so Andy crawls through a shitty pipe to freedom!☺ Also, as Brooks exits the prison the background shot is of the inside of the prison, but when Red leaves the background shot is of the outside world.
I personally think that the redemption in shawshank redemption is red. Red who says himself that hes the only guilty man in shawshank. Another fav part is when they are searching andys cell and the warden almost walks away with andys Bible. Which is where he had his hammer hidden. They would have then found the weak wall and would have moved his cell for sure. What a great movie
Glad you're doing Squid Game, especially since Season II is coming soon, and I'd love to watch it with a thoughtful reactor (it'll also probably greatly increase your views, like other k-content. Hint - use the subtitles, people get annoyed with the dubs)
The director's decision to avoid revealing the specific details of Red's crime is a compelling choice that significantly influences how audiences perceive him. Imagine if they had disclosed that he cut his wife's brake lines for an insurance payout, resulting in the tragic deaths of his wife, a neighbor, and her newborn child in the crash. Would such a revelation have made it impossible for many to sympathize with Red? ---Which is exactly what Red did in Stephen King's novella "Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption".
Red had such an interesting character "development", if you want to call it that. From the jump, he was the only inmate who admitted he was guilty and showed remorse for his crime. Thru the first two parole reviews he had accepted the fact that he deserved to be where he was, and had no illusions of an early release. After 40 years Andy had given him enough hope and showed him that he was redeemed. I just love how it illustrates that many of us often create our own prisons, whether we deserve to be there or not.
Your review of the movie was so much better than many (if not most) of the others. So many try to become the star and take over (and talk over) the movie, that it completely ruins the viewing experience for the audience. Silence is golden.
Thank you man, it's a hard balance in all honesty; sometimes you think you have a gap to get a point across and a character starts talking. I try to wait for transition scenes for lengthy takes.
@@JKWESITV Yeah it's a tough balance, what with copyright considerations and all. Your edit is certainly better than many. Including the key moments, scenes and dialogue while being reasonably restrained about how much you talk definitely makes it a more appealing watch. Some people get way too excited, hyperactive and laugh and squeal their way through whole films, which can be annoying for a viewer.🙈 As the old saying goes, "less is more."
***Spoilers for Green Mile*** I'll tell you what Edward Delacroix did but trust me, you're not going to want to know. *Spoiler* He raped and murdered a young girl, i think she was younger than 12. Scared and ashamed he decided to cover up the crime by burning the body, but the fire quickly got out of control and set an apartment building on fire where it killed 6 more people, two of which were more children.
I thought it was a good reaction, ive seen other reviewer's who haven't seen this before spend the entire reaction taking guesses on where the plots going and mostly being way off instead of enjoying what is the number one movie with the public, according to IMDB, for the last 18 years. People who are into reaction channels have already seen the movie, many of us multiple times, and dont want to spend an hour watching someone miss a lot of key points because theyre too busy trying to show the viewers how clever they are. Ive unsubbed more than a few because they dont know when to stfu. 🤔
Andy made Red promise to go look for the item he burried under the rock, to give Red some purpose and eventual hope, so he wouldn't end up like Brookes

The Captain of the prison guards is played by Clancey Brown, voice of Mr Krabs from SpongeBob SquarePants
WHAAAAT ?!
And The Kurgan in Highlander!
I prefer to think of him as the voice of the animated Lex Luthor
6:42 The "We're reelin'' 'em in" con is Alfonso Freeman, Morgan's son. He also posed for the booking photo shown at Morgan's parole hearings.

One of my favorite drama movies. I’m glad you enjoyed it. You definitely got the message…HOPE.
"I'm up for rejection next week." That line always makes me laugh.😅
370,000.00 of warden nortons money in 1966 ,,, is about 3.4 mil in todays cash.
Probably would've been about a milli 5 years ago with the way inflation has hit. Feels that way, anyway.

This film takes place in a time when driver's licenses were still just printed on a piece of paper, not plastic, and didn't have your photo on it.

"The Shawshank Redemption": A tale about Friendship, Hope and The Count of Monte Cristo.

Second this.
Excellent suggestion. The original 1957 version, not the remake. Script is similar, cast is fine, but it doesn't carry the drama of the original.
