The car Andy is driving at the end of the movie is one of those little glitches that slip through. Andy escaped and made his way to Mexico in 1966. The car he is driving is a 1969 Pontiac GTO. I know because I had the same car for about 10 years.
Unfortunately, even Jake was institutionalized. This scene was not used in the movie, but it is in the book: Shortly after Brooks' death, prisoners found Jake's corpse lying in the compound. He was starved to death because he was used to being fed by Brooks. He was institutionalized and unable to find his own food. But the director eventually found the scene of Brooks' end of life so sad and heartbreaking that he didn't want to torture the audience with another sad scene.
Oh wow it really does! Didn't connect those at the time! I love it when movies do that and do it so subtly that you don't notice at the time! Thanks for being here! Hope you had a nice New Years!
I'm always happy when RUclips recommends a new reaction channel and specifically a reaction to this movie - one of my very favorites. The two of you both seem quite wholesome and likeable, so I'll definitely be checking out your future videos. Well done on this one as well.
Thank you so much! We are glad you enjoyed the reaction and like us too! Thanks for hanging out with us and we really hope we will see you on future videos too. Do you have any favourites we could add to our list?
Great reaction you two! When Brooks went to prison in 1905, the Wright Brothers would have had their first flight a few years before (1903) and before he left in 1955, there would have been two world wars, a global pandemic, a great depression and Chuck Yeager would have broken the sound barrier (1947). That's a lot of change in 50 years -- the world would be almost unrecognizable.
oh my god thats pretty terrifying when you think about it, the world changed sooooo much at the start of the 20th century it was insane! No wonder the poor fella was so lost when he came out 🙁 such an incredible movie! Thanks so much for being here and watching it with us! Fingers crossed see you on our future videos too!
They also mentioned Brooks saw an automobile once when he was a kid. It would be worth checking out all that went into operating a vintage Ford Model T. A lot went into driving one. They weren't like modern cars at all
Andy planned his escape for nearly two decades, and when the time came, he pulled it off flawlessly: getting away scot-free, robbing and exposing the warden, and leaving his best friend Red with both the means and the reasons to continue living and hoping. And he did it all without saying a single word about it to anyone, not even Red.
Greeting from New Zealand! We both very much want to visit Portugal eventually. Looks like a beautiful place! Thanks for being here, we're thrilled you enjoyed it and hopefully can see you on our future videos too!
Clancy Brown who plays Hadley is an incredible actor. With 340 credits. He's the voice of Mr. Krabs on SpongeBob Square Pants. He was in the original Highlander movie with Sean Connery. He played a doctor on ER with George Clooney. Where he accidentally killed a patient played by the same actor that played fresh fish prisoner he killed in Shawshank.
Great reaction! One thing I think is interesting is when Brooks gets out, the camera's view is looking back into the prison, when Red leaves the view is reversed. To me, it's symbolizing how much (life) is in front of him on the outside if he continues in hope.
Great observation! One looking forward, one looking back! Very accurate too. We love when people point out bits like this! Thanks so much and thank you for being here! Hopefully can have you point out some stuff for us on future videos too!
The movie originally ended with Red on the bus and a view of the Pacific Ocean. Whether they ever met up again was unknown. Test audiences hated the ending, so they shot footage of the two old friends finally meeting up again.
Ah thats awesome! Im glad they showed them meet up personally, thank you test audiences! haha. Also thank you for the info and for being here. We love learning bits about the movies from you all! Hopefully you can teach us more on future uploads too... maybe some Samurai films based on your username 😀
A often overlooked detail in the movie was, Andy escapes in 1966 yet the car the picture shows of Andy driving away in is a 1969 Pontiac Tempest convertible!!!! This is a GREAT movie! Terrific reaction by you two.I am now a subscriber!
I always forget this is based on a Stephen King novel. I could listen to Morgan Freeman read a phonebook...seeing him waiting for Jake alone in the park is still the hardest part for me. I know the feeling. -Brooks was here
Yeah we only knew because our lovely viewers told us on our Green Mile reaction video, else I never would have guessed it was a Stephen King story! So many great things in this film! The narration and Brooks' storyline definitely 2 highlights! I (Harry) loved the music over the announcer section, rekindle hope and humanity in everyone for a short while... Thanks for being here, hope you enjoyed it and fingers crossed have you back for future videos too!
Aww thank you so much Tracy! That really means a lot to us! We try to be as natural and ourselves as possible. We worry that sometimes people want us to be doing more for the camera but we'd rather just be ourselves and hopefully people will appreciate it like yourself! Shawshank is a masterpiece! We loved this one, we hope you enjoy watching it with us 🙂 Did you see our little community post with upcoming movies? Have any on there you're looking forward to?
100% that would be, we've kinda accidentally overlooked that one a little.. will have to bump it up our to-do list..! Thanks so much for being here and hanging out with us!
People mentioned that Red is actually red-haired and Irish in the novella, but while they're calling names out of people who will tar the roof, you can catch that one of the names is "Ellis REDding," hence the nickname in the movie. Another tiny detail that's easy to miss is that the warden starts out wearing a cross on his lapel but as he sinks deeper into corruption it's replaced with a round pin. (I have watched this movie so many times.)
Great observation! I love how people like yourself pick up on these bits. You're 100% right. Same safe space but hugely different perception! Thanks for being here and participating on the channel too! Really appreciate it!
No way?! After years tormenting prisoners he retired and opened his own little food setup! Haha that's so cool, you forget when they play a role so well that they aren't actually that character! I'm glad he had a more gentle role too! We love learning stuff like this on the channel! Thank you so much! I hope you will be around on future videos to teach us stuff there too haha
Aww noooo! Did it come down in a storm (unlikely, it's roots must have been huge) or did someone cut it? I hate it so much when people cut down old ancient established trees like that... ☹️☹️
@@Flix-n-Feels I understand that it was struck by lightning, and didn't last long after that. It was eventually cut down, and brought to the Ohio State Reformatory grounds where it continued to deteriorate and was taken down I think. There's a good video on YT that tracks down just about all of the locations in the film and shows what they look like today.
In the book Red is a red headed Irishman that's why he said maybe its cuz I'm Irish. A little Easter egg for those of us who had read the short story first. Another great movie from the same book it Stand By Me. I highly recommend you guys check it out.
Ahhhh ok! That makes sense haha. A great way to connect the original story and the movie adaptation. And like you say, a secret little nod to the loyal fans that read his story before it being made! Thanks for being here! Hope you enjoyed it and Happy New Year 🙂
Tim Robbins wasn't the first choice to play Andy. Tom Hanks was seriously considered, but it was eventually thought that people would have known from the beginning that Andy would have been innocent had Hanks portrayed him. Robbins wasn't a newcomer to film but wasn't well-known enough at that time to have been a household name. In the scene where Tommy (Gil Bellows) arrives on the bus in 1965, there is a man seated directly behind him, with a thin moustache. That man was, in real life, the last warden of the prison used in the movie before it was shut down by the state of Ohio. He became manager of the property for the state, when the prison was used in movies and television shows. Although the movie is set in the state of Maine, the prison site is near Mansfield, Ohio. I enjoyed your reaction, and am looking forward to more!
Wow that's awesome! We think it was a good call to not have Tom Hanks. Great actor but like you say everyone would know it would be a good ending for him! Also great info regarding the warden! We love hearing info like this. Thanks so much for being here and contributing to our channel!
Fun fact: The photo on Red's parole application, was his son Alphonso. You see him "reeling in" the new "fish", behind the fence near the beginning of the film. Loved your reaction guys.
Ahhh no way?! I guess that's one of the best ways to get a younger version of the actor haha. Up until they just de-age people now anyways... We love learning bits of info from the films this way! Thank you so much!
Note that when Red comes to the wall and the tree at the end of the film, there is an harmonica on the soundtrack. And that's the first time in the whole movie. It's a reference to Andy's gift and a symbol of hope.
Hey guys, greetings from across the pond!... I just got done with 2 weeks with vacation and now I'm trying to catch up on all your past videos... I think this video was actually Lauren's first video I've seen her cry... It sounds like you guys are really getting the hang of it. I'm glad to see it. I'll keep watching you
John! So nice to see you again! Was wondering where we'd lost ya to! We hope your vacation went well? The uploads are going well! This one is doing really good which is really nice to see, gives us a lot of motivation! If you like to see her cry definitely make sure to catch The Green Mile if you missed that one, poor thing was crying rivers at times 😟 So glad to have ya back and hope you enjoy this and the other when you get the chance! See you on the next one too! We have some awesome films lined up for this month. Very excited!
At 25:21, yes, "The Count of Monte Cristo" is definitely a movie that is well worth watching. The 2002 version with Jim Cavieziel , Guy Pearce and Richard Harris is excellent. An outstanding story and movie.
Fantastic movie watched by 2 wonderful people. You deserve a year filled with growth and success. I'm sure you will achieve it if you stay as yourselves! Happy new year!
Oh my gosh what a lovely message! We really hope so too! Thanks so much as always for being here! We hope you enjoy it and are looking forward to our upcoming movies too! Happy new year!
Little fun fact Morgan Freeman in his early career 1970's was in a Sesame Street skit show spin off call the Electric Company. Some of his memorable characters.. Easy Reader, Dracula and narrated Spiderman skits in the show. An earlier pretty crazy movie Timothy Robbins was in was Jacobs Ladder.
Haha that's so cool. I don't think I've seen anything that Timothy Robbins has been in so will have to add that to our watch list. You recommend that one?
"the Shawshank Redemption": A tale about Friendship, Hope and The Count of Monte Cristo. 33:42 A little-known song for Andy Dufresne: ruclips.net/video/5-fcvnYDEJ0/видео.html 45:56 A song for Ellis Boyd "Red" Redding: ruclips.net/video/j5sO0HbB5WY/видео.html
100% it was so good! And for having such intense things happen it was surprisingly easy and quick to watch, it felt like it just started by the time it ended! Thanks for being here! Hopefully see you on our future uploads too!
It's one of the stand out things when watching older films and then films just set back in time, people dressed so classy.. Maybe we should up our standard and start dressing classy for the channel? Haha, thanks for being here! Hope you enjoyed?!
@@Flix-n-Feels I mean, back in the day people didn't have hundreds of items of clothing in their closet. You could afford maybe 4 or 5 outfits, and they cost money to buy and were hand-made and higher quality.
I think it was because they were taken directly from the courthouse, where they would have been wearing their best clothes anyway, or from the jailhouse where they could have been staying during their trials, as Andy is wearing the same suit he was wearing in court but he looks a bit more bedraggled than he does in the courthouse.
Happy New Year Danny! Thank you so much! We hope 2025 goes great for you too! Hopefully we can have a great year hanging out and watching movies with ya!
Fun fact. The evil guard is the voice of Mr Crab in Spongebob and the prisoner that won the bet with the fat guy in the beginning plays Death in Bill and Teds Excellent Adventure.
Thank you so much! Having replies like this gives us such a boost so we really appreciate it! We hope we get to hang out with you in future movies too!
One thing I've noticed after watching all 3 movies in Frank Darabont's trilogy of Stephen King adaptations (this movie, Green Mile, and The Mist from 2006) is that actors William Sadler and Jeffrey DeMann both had 1 minor supporting role and 1 major supporting role in the 1st 2 films by release date, then they both had a major supporting role in The Mist. If you ever get to The Mist, just know when you do watch it you'll probably never want to watch it again even if you did enjoy it
@@Flix-n-Feels It doesnt have jumpscares or anything, but it does have Lovecraftian style monsters. Even then, the monsters/the mist are the secondary antagonists. Also idk if you've ever watched Brooklyn-99 but it has the late Andre Braugher in it too
When Brooks was leaving the prison, the camera shot was aiming back at the facility. This is because Brooks had no hope and was scared, his mind was trapped inside the prison still. Now compare that to Red’s view. His view was looking away from the prison looking out into the world since he had hope. Very subtle director’s choice, but powerful once known.
An almost perfect reaction to an almost perfect movie. It lost out to Forrest Gump at the Oscars, but since, has become, possibly, the best movie of all time. You are a little late to the party, but I wish you well in this new adventure. ; )
Oh wow, im amazed anything beat this to an Oscar! Was it as well received at release as it is now or was it one that over time people realised how great it is? Thank you so much too for the kind words! We really appreciate it!
Hey! Thanks so much, we are glad you enjoyed it! It was such a great film to watch 🙂 And okay yeh I think a couple have mentioned this one over time now so will definitely add it to the list, thank you for the suggestion and hopefully see you on future videos too!
Thank you so much! Having people like yourself respond like this genuinely encourages and motivates us so much! Glad you enjoyed it and hopefully see you on our future videos too?!
Ironically Brooks' and Red's room in The Brewer is actually a room inside the prison at the Ohio State Reformatory in Mansfield Ohio. The exterior of The Brewer is also in the Mansfield area, and provides the interior location for The Portland Daily Bugle (first floor, right side, front corner)
We love these little tid bits of information! Thank you for letting us and others know this on here! We hope you enjoyed the reaction! And hopefully see you on future videos too!
yeah 100%! A very good book switch i reckon! He has such a legendary voice! Thank you so much for being here! Noldor is Tolkien right? Want to know a fact Im ashamed of, Lauren thinks she saw lord of the rings when she was little but can't remember it.. I (Harry) love LOTR though so i look forward to being able to show her it on here at some point!
Not sure how popular Spongebob is in Europe, but the main guard, Captain Hadley, is played by Clancy Brown ... Clancy Brown is the voice of Mr Krabbs on Spongebob
Lauren has seen it, I (Harry) havent really but this information very much excited her haha, very surreal, glad to see he managed to break out of the type cast of a nasty prison guard though haha. Thank you so much for this! We love getting the bits of background info! Hope you enjoyed it and we're glad you lent us your time!
To be fair we wouldn't have known but on our Green Mile reactions lots of viewers told us in the comments. One of the best things about this channel is learning bits and pieces from all of you guys and gals 😅
We do want to do TV shows too, we just cant edit quick enough at the moment haha. One day if we can afford an editor to help out we definitely want to do TV shows too, so we will do that one day when we grow a bit more! And you being here and commenting is helping us grow so thank you for that!
Couple of little things you may or may not have noticed when Brooks leaves Shawshank the camera angles is from the outside looking in but when Red leaves it's the other way around, and the cutout for the rock hammer in the bible when the warden opens it starts at Exodus.
Oh wow, another little moment we missed, what incredible movie making... so many little hidden moments that you just miss entirely first time watching it through but lets you see more and more no matter how many times you rewatch. Love this! Thank you for pointing it out!
😅 not intentionally! The copyright bot made me redo it like 10 times and wouldn't let me include it ☹️☹️ You know me! I'm not one to cut out a pretty woman haha. Good to see ya! hope your new years went well?! Such a good film this one!
@@Flix-n-Feels oh wow 😳 , that's strict. It's actually amazing to see women react to Rita Hayworth reveal as well , I was looking forward to Lauren reacting to your reaction in that scene. Just like Scarlett Johansson's reveal in Iron Man 2 😂 New years was good mate, hope it was for you guys too. Yes, It's one of my Favourite films of all time ...Probably the 🔝. The music (Mouth organ) Starting at the Buxton Oak tree and the rest of the scene till the end always moves me , one of the few scenes that can move me every time .
Definitely one of the best movies ever made! Yeah unfortunately can't have all the best bits in the reactions on here but we will release the full reaction on our Patreon shortly. We did have a lovely NY too!
When Andy asks Redd why they call him Redd, he says "Maybe it's because I'm Irish" ... In the novel this movie is based off of, Redd is in fact Irish ... Morgan Freeman saying that line is a nod to the original Redd in the novel.
We need to read the book! Im surprised we werent aware of it more seeing as the movie is such a huge film you would have thought the book would be common knowledge too, somehow we've missed it so far. I guess we have missed a lot though haha, lots of movies and tv to catch up on!
This film is #1 on IMDb and it is classic. As I previously told you I have seen over 2000 films. I did love it. There were great performances and great story. However I still think it just squeaks into my top 100. So many awesome films over the years.
@ Here is my top 30 Of course they are they not just because of how great they are but how they affected me. Feel free to do as you wish The Godfather No Country for Old Men The Godfather 2 Schindler’s List One Flew Over the Cuckoo Nest Casablanca Lord of the Ring return of king The Graduate On the waterfront Apocalypse Now The Dark Knight Pulp Fiction The Exorcist Taxi driver Inception Amadeus To kill a Mockingbird The Deer Hunter Pans Labyrinth West Side Story Once upon a Time in Hollywood Lost in Translation In Bruges The Prestige Leon Psycho Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind The Social Network Requiem for a Dream Almost Famous Lord of the Rings fellowship of ring By the way In Bruges has great character actor Brenden Gleeson and Colin Farrell. Best role ever by Farrell. Never been better
Oh wow, thanks for sharing! There is a LOT I haven't watched on here (Lauren) , I've read to kill a mockingbird (one of my favourite books!) and I have seen the stage show of West Side Story but have never seen either movie! We will 100% be watching some of these in the next few months!
@@Flix-n-Feels Awesome. Will be following along FYI- after looking closer Shawshank would be in top 100 , though not sure what #. Another would be Eastern Promises starring Viggo and Naomi Watts. Very underrated crime thriller with the best and most surprising twist ever. I was shocked. Never saw it coming. Very few react to it so would love to see it from you
I know 😭 unfortunately on YT we have to edit it down so much and copyright bot seemed to want that bit taken out.. We put the whole reaction on our Patreon though!
Loved your reaction, but had to chuckle at the comment "aww, what more can you do?" the first time Red faced the parole board and was rejected. Prisons would be pretty empty if all it took for convicted criminals to get paroled was to say "I've changed. Really. Trust me." 🙂
Hahaha I know right. He said he's sorry! Let the man out! Thanks so much for the kind words Robert! And thank you for clicking on our upload! Really appreciate it and hope to see you on future videos too! Happy new year!
Have you watched "The Green Mile" yet? It's a must watch movie, written by the same author Stephen King and directed by the same director, Frank Darabont
The reason why Red is called Red is because in the book he's a red headed Irishman, not a black guy. That's why Red is the only black guy in the prison
@@Flix-n-Feels The title of the original story is "Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption". It's a short story, (an quick and easy read), in Stephan King's book of 4 short stories called "Different Seasons". Another story in there is "The Body" which was the basis for the movie "Stand By Me". Worth checking out.
@japanarchist ah awesome thank you for this! His green mile books were also short stories I think! Amazing that 3 very well regarded movies (we've not seen stand by me but I know it's rated highly) all came from short stories!
I recommend a great, but hard to find, "Chick Flick" "A Summer Story" with Imogen Stubbs. Beautifully filmed, great score, great acting....and the saddest story of unrequited love and class distinction in pre WW I England ever . I defy anyone to watch the final 10 minutes or so without some Kleenex and many sniffles! It is up on You Tube from time to time.
We didn't at the time disappointingly! A couple have mentioned here now though so i understand it is Exodus correct? Redemption and freedom from slavery. Very fitting for the movie! Im always sad when i miss such poignant moments like this. But we are super grateful we now have you guys that can point it out to us when we miss it! Thanks so much and thank you for being on our channel!
I know I know!! I never saw the 1st growing up then we started the channel and I was really keen to watch the 2nd one after hearing so many good things about it.. Pressured Harry into watching it without realizing the connections to the first 😭 (big mistake!) Here's the link if you wanted to check it out: ruclips.net/video/6pzWZRhZI7A/видео.htmlsi=j1-BBhyRE6ZV8jtT
Yeah, thats where most people get Stephen King wrong, his specialty is never Horror or the supernatural. He is best in writing about people you can care about in his stories.
This honestly sounds a great description of his work, I've started reading Green Mile and although sad/horror type content it is so in depth with character development!
The California Innocence Project founded in 1999, The Northern California Innocence Project founded in 2001 and the Innocence Project of New York founded in 1992 are the original three innocence projects to help get wrongly convicted people out of prison. Now today every state in the USA has their own innocence projects.
Sounds like a great initiative for sure! I feel like there's quite a few incredible films all based on people being wrongfully convicted. I guess it pulls on the viewers heartstrings to see the Injustice.. I'm glad that there's initiatives to help right the wrongs. Thank you for being here! We hope you enjoy hanging out with us! Happy new year!
We understand, it's difficult because on reactions where we are first time watching or don't know it well we don't know when something important is going to happen. And we genuinely haven't seen it so it's hard to sync our reactions and comments around the scenes since we don't know it ☹️ On a few of our others like on a couple of the marvel ones that I (Harry) has seen but Lauren hasn't I try to ensure when a big scene is coming up there isn't too much chatter then but on movies we both fresh to it's hard to get it right. We hope we didn't ruin it too much and you enjoyed some of it at least! We are still new too so hopefully we kinda learn to be better reactors and know when to stop talking as well as when to talk haha. Thank you for being here though and the feedback 🙂
@Flix-n-Feels Pausing the movie to comment is OK, too. Some reactors do that and while it can lengthen the video, it allows you not to miss as much. Cheers, and Happy New Year! 🎉🍾🥳
Is it one of your favourites? We will add it to our list, we have a few lined up already but I will add it to our to-do list for sure! How do you find Shawshank Redemption? People say it's the best ever film.. you think they are right?
@Flix-n-Feels thank you very much 🌺Shaosheng Redemption is a good movie, but these are my favorite movies, and I would appreciate your reaction on these movies: Home alone 2 and 3 Dennis the menace 1993 Violent night 2022 I love your reaction❤️😍
Thank you, we will definitely keep Home Alone till next Christmas for the festive period! Will check out the other recommendations, thanks for sharing them!
Do you want to watch the movie Home Alone 2 next year? I asked you to please watch this movie, but you want to see it next Christmas. Thank you for respecting my opinion so much. I gave up on my offer and I can't wait until next year. Whatever movie you like to watch.😅😅@Flix-n-Feels
It does evoke emotions for these people. However most are in there for murder. You murder someone you take away everything they are or ever be. Do you think they had those thoughts before they killed who they killed. andy wasn't the norm.
I always cringe at "500 yards. Just shy of half a mile." when it's just over a quarter-mile. I give the movie a pass, though, because it's said the same way in the book. Morgan Freeman remains blameless.
@@Flix-n-Feels A mile is 5,280 feet. 500 yards is 1,500 feet, just over a quarter-mile (1,320 feet). To be just short of a half-mile the distance would need to be around 850 yards (2,550 feet). Clear as mud?
We're glad you were here and hopefully got a little bit of enjoyment, apologies if you felt it was a gimmick in some manner, wasn't the intention. Hopefully will see you on future videos but if not we wish you well! Thanks for being here for this one at least.
I mean, I've JUST watched your Green Mile reaction and it was fantastic. I gotta give this one a chance now, right? 😅🤭 If I may recommend another movie from the same year, 1994, that also made me cry a lot? I hold it very dearly to my heart and quite frankly, it's my favorite .. no wait, I'm not sure if I can say that.... 😅 It's definitely up there. ONE of my absolute favorite Spielberg and one of my favorite Robin Williams movies. It's called "Hook". And I think, I watched it every day as a kid in 1994 (I was born in 1985) but it still makes me cry as an adult. I think, the only performance from Robin Williams I prefer over Hook was in Good Will Hunting. But Hook is SO rich on so many levels. And CRIMINALLY underappreciated online. The musical score ALONE by John Williams deserves nothing but praise. But I don't wanna spoil too much, in case there's a chance we could get a reaction to it from you guys. 🥹🤞🙏

Woah this would've been so sad to see. I'm going to get the novel out to read, sounds like the book is incredible also!
When Red tells Andy that going to Mexico is "shitty pipe dreams", it foreshadows Andy crawling through a pipe of shit to escape.
Oh wow it really does! Didn't connect those at the time! I love it when movies do that and do it so subtly that you don't notice at the time!
Thanks for being here! Hope you had a nice New Years!
I never got that until you made the connection.
Nice one
Ha! That's great. I never made that connection, either. Thanks for pointing it out.
I'm always happy when RUclips recommends a new reaction channel and specifically a reaction to this movie - one of my very favorites. The two of you both seem quite wholesome and likeable, so I'll definitely be checking out your future videos. Well done on this one as well.

When Brooks went to prison in 1905, the Wright Brothers would have had their first flight a few years before (1903) and before he left in 1955, there would have been two world wars, a global pandemic, a great depression and Chuck Yeager would have broken the sound barrier (1947).
Thank you so much for subscribing! We really appreciate that! And that is definitely a fact we would have missed. The car was very beautiful haha!
Yes here for this ...... 2 of the few genuine reactors on you tube watching a great movie
We loved this one, we hope you enjoy watching it with us 🙂
Did you see our little community post with upcoming movies? Have any on there you're looking forward to?
@@Flix-n-Feels inglorious basterds would be another good one .....but outside of the last post u read ....I think you guys would enjoy forrest gump
100% that would be, we've kinda accidentally overlooked that one a little.. will have to bump it up our to-do list..! Thanks so much for being here and hanging out with us!
They talk a lot, without pausing, and end up missing most of it.
Name names, list 3 reactors that aren’t genuine.
Andy was played by Tim Robbin’s. He was in Top Gun, Bull Durham, War of the Worlds and many other movies.
Oh woah, I did not pick up on that at all! Makes so much sense now you've said it 😂
Red wanted to go ''back''. Brooks wanted to go HOME. Total difference in their perception, despite both feeling safe in prison.
Great observation! I love how people like yourself pick up on these bits. You're 100% right. Same safe space but hugely different perception! Thanks for being here and participating on the channel too! Really appreciate it!
See the tough prison officer ? That's the guy who voices Mr Krabs in SpongeBob Squarepants.
As it happens, that beautiful oak tree -- the "Shawshank" tree -- is indeed no longer there.
@robburns4176 ah ok, thats very sad but im glad it wasnt just vandalism or something of that nature!
@@OhArchie Also the grounds are private property so you can’t go to the wall.
@@Flix-n-Feels I forgot to mention; Clancy Brown, who plays the evil Captain Hadley, also does the voice of Mister Krab in SpongeBobSquarePants LOL
This fact is too funny 😅 how random!
@@Flix-n-Feels Oh, you mentioned the Tommy gun, or Thompson sub-machine gun. It has another nickname; The Chicago Typewriter LOL
Fun fact: The photo on Red's parole application, was his son Alphonso. You see him "reeling in" the new "fish", behind the fence near the beginning of the film. Loved your reaction guys.
It's funny because I don't think his son looks much like him.
I've seen this 1,000 times and never knew that. That was truly a fun fact
Oh wow we didn't pick up on this!
Great Reaction !! Happy New Year from Detroit Michigan
Thank you so much! We are so glad you liked it! Happy New Year from New Zealand! Hope to see you around our future uploads too!
Harry should write advertising for movies. That was a great opening summary
haha thank you so much!
At 25:21, yes, "The Count of Monte Cristo" is definitely a movie that is well worth watching. The 2002 version with Jim Cavieziel , Guy Pearce and Richard Harris is excellent. An outstanding story and movie.
Oh will have to add to our list to watch 😊 thanks for the recommendation!
There is a new French version of "The Count of Monte Cristo" that was released this week. It has gotten great reviews.
@bjm9071 they made a new one?! ooh exciting, maybe we do a double header at some point, watch the 2002 and the new one very soon after..
A good movie. Also, he was in 'Arlington Road', another good and very cerebral movie, well worth a watch. ; )
Haha that's so cool. I don't think I've seen anything that Timothy Robbins has been in so will have to add that to our watch list. You recommend that one?
@user-Chris.Alger11 another one we haven't heard of, will add it to our watch list though! Thank you.
@@Flix-n-Feels yeah if you dont mind trippy/crazy movies its a good one.

This is one of those movies that you leave on the channel when you come across it. 😊
100% it was so good! And for having such intense things happen it was surprisingly easy and quick to watch, it felt like it just started by the time it ended! Thanks for being here! Hopefully see you on our future uploads too!
Andy DuFresne was played by Tim Robbins. A couple others of his films that I love are "The Hudsucker Proxy", and "Erik the Viking". Highly recommend.
Oh we were talking about this after the film, we couldn't think of any other films we knew him from. Will have to look into these ones! 😊
Choice reaction bro, really, really choice ❤
Glad you enjoyed it! thanks for being here! Such an awesome movie!
3:54 in 1947 people entering prison dressed better than people do today in church.
Happy New Year to both of You..
I hope for great things in 2025.
For both of you two..
Happy New Year Danny! Thank you so much! We hope 2025 goes great for you too! Hopefully we can have a great year hanging out and watching movies with ya!
Another great reaction, very enjoyable to watch. Carry on and have a great weekend...
Great to see you Michael! We were hoping you'd enjoy this one! Hope you have a great weekend also!
Fun fact. The evil guard is the voice of Mr Crab in Spongebob and the prisoner that won the bet with the fat guy in the beginning plays Death in Bill and Teds Excellent Adventure.
I am so shocked I didn't recognise Mr Crabs voice! I grew up on Spongebob!
Andy is Tim Robbins, aka, Merlin in Top Gun, and many other films since then. First role was on the TV series St Elsewhere in 1982.
He was great in Bull Durham also.
Many old prisons were once military armories/forts. Hence the castle look.
Absolutely love you two reacting to movies!
Thank you so much! Having replies like this gives us such a boost so we really appreciate it! We hope we get to hang out with you in future movies too!
@Flix-n-Feels Pleasure ❤️
If you ever get to The Mist, just know when you do watch it you'll probably never want to watch it again even if you did enjoy it
Ohh I haven't heard of The Mist! I've loved the other two so wonder if I will enjoy it also.. Is it a scary film? 😬
@@Flix-n-Feels It doesnt have jumpscares or anything, but it does have Lovecraftian style monsters. Even then, the monsters/the mist are the secondary antagonists. Also idk if you've ever watched Brooklyn-99 but it has the late Andre Braugher in it too
Oh this could be manageable then 😅 I (Lauren) LOVE Brooklyn-99!! This is definitely on the list to watch!!
I actually didn't notice this at the time but now you've said it I do remember how those two scenes looked so different! Really powerful!
@@Flix-n-Feels It pretty much bombed at the box office. It was not promoted. However it became a word of mouth classic.
Great reaction. Thanks for sharing. You should definitely check out "Good Will Hunting" as well.

I like to think that after the ending, Andy and Red traveled the world for the rest of their lives.
They made a movie about it... the Bucket List.
That would be a lovely thought! Where they ended up was a beautiful spot! Where do you think they'd tick off their travel list? 😅
@mikelundquist4596 haha! That would be funny if it was actually canon!
Also not seen that one so should add it to the list? Or not that good?
@@Flix-n-Feels I like it, it's certainly worth a watch.
@mikelundquist4596 ok perfect! Added to our watch list then! Thank you!

I believe that „Red“ was actually a Redhead with Irish roots in the novel. Sometimes a surprise casting turns out to be win, a huge one!

Going on 19 straight years as the highest rated movie on IMDB as close to a perfect movie as you will ever see imo. 😊
Definitely not surprised it's topped the list. Such a masterpiece!
Couple of little things you may or may not have noticed when Brooks leaves Shawshank the camera angles is from the outside looking in but when Red leaves it's the other way around, and the cutout for the rock hammer in the bible when the warden opens it starts at Exodus.
👍fantastic reaction ❤🇦🇺

Yes, It's one of my Favourite films of all time ...Probably the 🔝. The music (Mouth organ) Starting at the Buxton Oak tree and the rest of the scene till the end always moves me , one of the few scenes that can move me every time .

How was the sewer pressurized when it was half full? What would Andy have done if there was a steel grate welded over the end of the sewer?
This film is #1 on IMDb and it is classic. As I previously told you I have seen over 2000 films. I did love it. There were great performances and great story. However I still think it just squeaks into my top 100. So many awesome films over the years.

Yes we watched it a few weeks ago, we've shared it on our channel if you want to check it out 😊 Absolutely loved it!
@Flix-n-Feels I will, definitely!
The reason why Red is called Red is because in the book he's a red headed Irishman, not a black guy. That's why Red is the only black guy in the prison
Yeah we need to read the book, do you know if the book is the same name or it has a different title?
@Flix-n-Feels if I remember correctly it's the same name
ah ok perfect will have to get down the library and find it!
@@Flix-n-Feels The title of the original story is "Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption".
Yeah, thats where most people get Stephen King wrong, his specialty is never Horror or the supernatural. He is best in writing about people you can care about in his stories.
This honestly sounds a great description of his work, I've started reading Green Mile and although sad/horror type content it is so in depth with character development!
You two should react to the short vid, "True Facts About Morgan Freeman". It's only a couple of minutes.
@Flix-n-Feels you're welcome
4:07 Morgan Freeman's son
Ahhhh! That's nice getting him included too. I didn't realise his son acted.. has he been in anything else? Or not really..?
I enjoyed this reaction, but it's annoying when you talk over dialogue. You guys missed a lot throughout. 😢
We understand, it's difficult because on reactions where we are first time watching or don't know it well we don't know when something important is going to happen. And we genuinely haven't seen it so it's hard to sync our reactions and comments around the scenes since we don't know it ☹️
On a few of our others like on a couple of the marvel ones that I (Harry) has seen but Lauren hasn't I try to ensure when a big scene is coming up there isn't too much chatter then but on movies we both fresh to it's hard to get it right.

Is it one of your favourites? We will add it to our list, we have a few lined up already but I will add it to our to-do list for sure! How do you find Shawshank Redemption? People say it's the best ever film.. you think they are right?
@Flix-n-Feels thank you very much 🌺Shaosheng Redemption is a good movie, but these are my favorite movies, and I would appreciate your reaction on these movies:
Home alone 2 and 3
Dennis the menace 1993
Violent night 2022
I love your reaction❤️😍
You definitely forget what they are in prison for as you watch along!
have you 2 ever watchat the count of mote Cristo
No we haven't! would you recommend it?
❤😊
Hey Jaden! Hope your week is going well? Thanks for being here again 🙂 and we hope you enjoy this one! Was an incredible movie! You seen it before?
@ I have seen this movie and it’s so good, I’m hoping you and Lauren have great week
Thank you! So far so good! We hope your week goes well too!
@@Flix-n-Feels thank you
Hello
Hi there 🙂 welcome and we hope you enjoy our channel! Thanks for being here!
I always cringe at "500 yards. Just shy of half a mile." when it's just over a quarter-mile. I give the movie a pass, though, because it's said the same way in the book. Morgan Freeman remains blameless.
Eek we work kilometres (here in NZ) so I didn't know the conversion. A bit of artist license for the film 😂😂
@@Flix-n-Feels A mile is 5,280 feet. 500 yards is 1,500 feet, just over a quarter-mile (1,320 feet). To be just short of a half-mile the distance would need to be around 850 yards (2,550 feet). Clear as mud?
Please react to the society snow
Oohhh I've not heard of this one, can you tell me some bits about it? We'll add it to our recommendations list though! Thank you!
@Flix-n-Feels it's a survival movie
Are you Aussie or Kiwi? Not sure. Kiwi is my guess.
Very good guess! Kiwi, although I think it is quite a gentle kiwi accent 😂

😅😅😅
Stop talking over the dialogue
When one has seen it, it doesn't work. Awkward gimmick to post the movie and get views. And it worked, it got mine
We're glad you were here and hopefully got a little bit of enjoyment, apologies if you felt it was a gimmick in some manner, wasn't the intention. Hopefully will see you on future videos but if not we wish you well! Thanks for being here for this one at least.
Her first time watching, not his, as they indicated in the beginning.
I mean, I've JUST watched your Green Mile reaction and it was fantastic. I gotta give this one a chance now, right? 😅🤭
If I may recommend another movie from the same year, 1994, that also made me cry a lot? I hold it very dearly to my heart and quite frankly, it's my favorite .. no wait, I'm not sure if I can say that.... 😅
It's definitely up there.
