You have some very good points
    I have a ‘Z’ model MBA from 2014.
The clamshell mode to give 2 displays
of the M3 interests me. When you do reviews of the M3 please select monitors between 300-600 dollars
    And give us your thoughts.

Thanks for watching!I am looking forward to getting my hands on the machine to understand if there are any major improvements with the chip at all. I have an iMac M3 and compariing it against the M2 and even my old M1 air, the difference isnt significant at all. Some people are very critical of my opinion for whatever reason (alliance with Apple maybe lol) but my goal is to give an honest persepctive of a product and to save consumers as much money as possible.

M2, and if you can find a good price, go with 16GB of Ram. 8GB of ram will be fine for web browsing but 10 tabs will eat at your memory.

      More ram helps a lot

They added the 2 nand ssd for the base model so the read and write speeds are much better. So worth the upgrade

Still slower than standard PCIe 3.0 drives in non-mac laptops, Apple is still using outdated tech on new products.

      Not good enough!

Jeez Louise mister negative 🙄. Why are you complaining the MacBook Air was just completely overhauled with the M2… what did you expect? Be happy that they updated it with a better faster more efficient chip and better wifi. Yess 8GB is quite low but at least the new improvements in the M3 give it a bit more life and the faster two nand chips also help it. 12GB would be much better yess, but the people who buy this macbook don’t need that, a lot of them don’t even know what that means.
People who need or want more power know they need a macbook pro and buy that. (It would be nice if the M3 MacBook Pro 14 inch had at least 12GB yess but that’s how they get you up the pricing ladder 😌) All of that said MacBooks provide a lot of value in the quality of their screens and full metal body and performance for the money compared to windows, at almost any price (disregarding storage upgrade, because that’s horrible).

Regarding storage yeah I completely agree that in this area Apple is a greedy horrible asshole company. So I use fast NVME SSD enclosures instead of paying for a ridiculous storage upgrade.

The nand chips you referenced are outdated technology, modern laptops have much faster PCe 3.0 storage (that has been in the market for for years now). With the price of the new M3 and the very limited performance increase over the M2 Air, this is not the best value for money. Your opinion may be different from mine but I refuse to shell out $1100 USD for a machine with outdated and low storage and 8GB of Ram.

@@MannyRataullook I understand what you mean I am also a technology enthusiast. I have 2 PCIE 4.0 4TB 990Pro drives and considering PCIE 5.0 ones. I have 96GB of DDR5 6600MT/s in my pc and considering 192GB. But I also have a girlfriend who bought the M2 15inch base MacBook Air and she loves it and she doesn’t even know what RAM is. She had a 4GB RAM 128GB SSD MacBook air before this and she never even needed more speed for her use cases like Word/Exel/Safari/mail…. All she wanted was a big nice high resolution screen and a nice battery life and a quality built laptop. So she is verry happy. That’s what I, and I think other youtubers mean by the average user. Yes even using word and a bit of safari and excel at the same time might already use more that 8GB of RAM/unified memory in 2024 but apple makes it work. And the average user will never know.. 😊

@@pvdgucht there are more than just speed and performance concerns with 8GB of Ram. Swap memory usage significantly reduces the number of read and write cycles on the lifetime of an SSD. Swap memory is utilized when physical memory is being used, which is quite often with only 8GB of Ram. You can look it up yourself, but the M2 Airs when they came out had signifcant SSD failures because of extream swap memory usage. So once again, 8Gb of Ram is simply not enough for 2024.

@@MannyRataul true true, I mean if the drives were sufficiently able to handle the read/write cycle and they wouldn’t fails so quick. Then there would be no real problem I think. But yeah you are right that not cool if they actually start failing quickly. I mean yeah 8GB RAM in 2024 suck I agree. But im also really curious to see what will happen to my girlfriend’s laptop and how many years she will be able to use it and be really happy with it. It my little science project haha.
Me personally I would never buy a laptop anymore with 8GB of memory. Im planning on buying a iPad PRO M3 and am even not happy about that device only having 8GB of memory (unless you upgrade to 1TB of storage for 16GB of memory but that’s too expensive) I mean my iPhone (finally) has 8GB why shouldn’t a laptop have at least a little bit more. So yeah its a debate I mean. I think/hope that apple will at least give us 12GB on the M4 MacBook Air but well with Apple you never know. 🤷🏼‍♂️
