As someone who also wanted to lucid dream, what tends to happen with me is that I most of the time don't realise I'm dreaming, but even if I do my brain is still sleepy and I menage to control almost nothing and just get carried away by the dream again. This actually happened to me last night. A friend told me in the dream for some reason that it's Friday an I clearly remember answering: "Hey thats weird that it is Friday in the dream because I know it's Saturday in real life". So I knew I was dreaming! But I just went with the dream again and only hoped I didn't wake up because I wanted to go where the dream let me. Jardon's favorite infinite sum:
    Σ(46/3^n) from 0 to ∞
    = 46 * (Σ(1/3^n) from 0 to ∞)
    = 46 * (1 + 1/3 + (1/3)^2 + (1/3)^3 + ...)
The sum inside the bracket has a starting term of a = 1 and a common ratio between terms of r = 1/3. Since the absolute value of the common ratio is less than 1 (1/3 is less than 1), this infinite sum converges to a value, which is precisely given by the formula a/(1 - r):
    a/(1 - r) = 1/(1 - 1/3) = 1/(2/3) = 3/2
Then, multiplying 3/2 by 46 gives the actual sum, which is
    = 46 * 3/2
    = 23 * 3
    = 69
    Very nice, indeed.

I've never heard of this from others like it being a technique but I always wake up in the middle of the night, cause my body hates me or something, but then I just fall back asleep and usually bam I'm lucid dreaming about the same dream if I was in the first place. Around the 7:00 mark he talks about lucid dreaming, and I actually have had a lucid dream once, essentially anything you wish comes true, I remember personally i discovered that I was in a dream (how lucid dreams usually start) and immediately started making people and moving mountains, I even deleted someone from existence to see if I could and it was cool. I surrounded myself with a few friends and just lived out (what felt like) several years just enjoying the landscape I had created and hanging with my friends. Two of them that were made in the lucid dream do occasionally show up in my normal dreams, and when I spot them I usually talk to them as if I was meeting an old friend that I hadn't seen in a while, the craziest thing is that they actually had things to talk about lol

if you can lucid dream, at least from my experience, it’s really easy to wake yourself up. when you realize you’re dreaming and want to wake up you just have to close your eyes and imagine yourself back in your bed sleeping kinda and then open your eyes and you’re awake. maybe that’s just me though, also i can’t consistently lucid dream. it either happens in really weird dreams about my life but things are just different (little example: my mom will be home when in real life shell have just left for work or something and in my “dream she’ll talk to me and i’ll be thinking didnt she just leave?”) and then things like that add up to me eventually realizing it’s in a dream, though it’s even harder to control it at that point i haven’t learned that yet i’ve only done it twice and in one of them i had like this “guide” explaining to me how i can do whatever i want and showing me how to fly and change scenes and stuff it was weird. the other way i realize i’m dreaming is when it’s a really bad or scary dream and i don’t want to be there anymore i’ll realize how insane what’s happening is and force myself to wake up. one trick i read once and it actually worked was when you aren’t sure if you’re dreaming or not, look down at your arms.. i did this in my dream when things were getting weird as a reality check and i looked down at my arms and in my dream there was scriptures and tattoos that i don’t have all over my arms. i was so amazed that it worked that i woke myself up instantly in shock and haven’t managed to do that trick again. i also find it really hard to write down dreams even though they say it helps with lucid dreams. i either don’t remember enough or it’s literally just too weird or out of order to even describe in words without writing a whole book sometimes lmaoo. it is weird though. i don’t know how i learned this. i do know when i was a really young child i was able to realize when i was in a nightmare and would often wake myself up so maybe it escalated from there but 🤷‍♀️ i just wish i had better control sometimes but then again i also enjoy the random aspects of my dreams, knowing i’m dreaming but not really changing anything ya know. idk jordan’s lucid dream comments got me thinking especially when he asked if it’s even real because i use to even think it wasn’t when i would spend hours studying it and trying to force myself to do it. the problem is i don’t think you can force it, it has to happen organically. wtf do i know though i hope someone found this interesting lmao 🤣

    Hi, lucid dreamer here
For me lucid dreams are really rare but when I have them they're really awesome. Some tips that work for me:
1.Having a nightmare is the easiest way into a lucid dream. When smth is to unrealistic or scary I start questioning it. A dream usually feels like reality but there are a lot of logical and continuity flaws. E.g.: You're suddenly in your livingroom surrounded by raptors even though you were just in class a second ago(yes, that was the start of one of my lucid dreams).
2.If you remember previous dreams, you might be able to find some reoccurring paterns. E.g. You can fly, you kiss your crush, you're fighting ninjas, etc... Try making a connection between them and the desire to control your dream before you go to sleep. You might be able to remember that in your dream!
3.When you're already suspicious, try to recall a memory from the past. I usually don't have many memorys in dream and if I do have some, then they are usually very vague.
Oh and one more thing: Don't do anything too crazy when you succeed. Going into lucid dreaming is like putting the renderdistance up to 500 chunks and it wakes you up really quickly. While lucid dreaming you're walking on the narrow edge between waking up and falling back to sleep.
I hope this helps, might be different for every person though...
    Anyway, good luck!

I used to have lucid dreams a lot when I was in high school. One of the things that I found that would let me know if I was having a lucid dream was if I jump and then these black wings(angel wings) would pop out of my back and/or I could fly. However, having a lucid nightmare is not as great. Mostly because you would realize that you are having a nightmare, however, if you’re very lucky you could physically pull yourself away from what is very scary. For example, I knew in my chest that something bad/scary was gonna happen if I kept on walking forward. So I grabbed onto the rail that was on either side and pulled myself away from that situation.

Can confirm, being in a lucid dream is a lot like playing a really forked up videogame. Like you can decide what to do in the circumstance but (at least I) can't control what the circumstance is. I can even choose not to participate and sort of ragdoll onto the floor and the dream either will react to that or it won't. When it doesn't, it's a bit like being in a live cut scene. The story still happens in spite of anything I choose to do.

I've very rarely lucid dreamed, but my dreams themselves tend to have connected lore all the way back to childhood dreams. Several locations reappear over several dreams, and enough roads have occurred that I wonder if I could map out my dream reality like it was a real location. I also stopped having nightmares due to the quirk that dream-me realized that, like a horror game, monsters just freeze in place after their jumpscare. Sometimes I dream of made-up RUclips videos from channels I've recently watched, generally Minecraft.

Journaling does help with lucid dreaming; it can help you recognize patterns that could ultimately alert your sleeping mind to being present in a dream. For instance, tinted glass and polished black surfaces appear in many of my more controllable dreams, so I tend to notice it more when sleeping, allowing me to control the dream in some capacity of my choosing.

One of my fears is being stuck in a lucid dream. Just imagine that you are trapped in nothingness of your own creation and cannot escape even if you are begging to. And when you eventually wake up, you haven’t escaped. You can do anything, talk to anyone but those are not real people, and not real actions. I can pretty much create a whole new person to talk to, that would live their own life, but in my imagination. But what about others? You will just do meaningless things with no consequences for a while and enjoy them until you get bored and it all becomes grey noise interrupted with voices of people you know, who are just shapes of yourself. Time doesn’t exist anymore and you feel pain and despair. And it continues forever with time not moving a second until you finally out. So, no, you don’t want to be there, because there is a chance of this happening

10:11 🛑🛑🛑🛑🛑🛑🛑🛑🛑🛑🛑🛑🛑🛑🛑🛑🛑🛑🛑🛑🛑🛑🛑🛑🛑🛑🛑🛑Hey Cap, the reason why dreams are forgotten is because your mind stores them in something called the short term memory and deemed them useless because they’re not real and therefore tries to get rid of them as quickly as possible. This is why it’s important to write them down the second you remember them so you can describe them in the most detail. Hope this helps!

As someone who can lucid dream somewhat reliably, it is very tempting to escape to dreams. Wich can be unhealthy. The journal works to help dream a bit, honestly just use the notes app on your phone. A better way in my opinion is waking up earlier and then going back to sleep immediately. Sleeping like that and waking up every hour and going back to sleep is guaranteed to give you a dream so long as you're not exhausted.

As a people who can lucid dream from time to time, the secret is telling yourself it's a dream while in the dream, then you have control of the dream based upon the power of your imagination. You can even turn your senses on and off like light switches. For instead, when my alarm would go off, I just "turned off" my sense of hearing to not hear the alarm going off; you can even flip between 2 sets of senses; your dream senses and your real senses. As what you can do in a dream, you can create any experience you want but the less experience you have with something the muddy the experience would be in the dream. You can dream of walking in a forest, but unless you been in a forest, you won't feel the tree, smell the grass or even look around that much as it would basically be a walking sim through a generic forest. When I dream of jumping on a bed, I could move around in a 3D space, change my perspective from 1st person to 3rd person, do flips, feel the rebound force of the spring as I jump on it, change how high in the air I went, without the force I slam on the bed, change the sides of the bed and jump from one bed to another; however, if I dream about being an adventurer, tend I was stuck in side scrolling 3rd person view, i could jump up and down but could only move to the right, there was no feedback or enemies but I had a wooden sword I could swing. Cause I need how jumping on a bed was like in real life, I had more control over the dream version, but since I'm not an adventurer in real life, that ended up being like an old school video game. As for waking up, you tell your body to open your eyes. The annoying thing about lucid dreaming is that you interrupt your rest, so you can wake up feeling tired as you are very awake about the your warp sense of time. I tell when an hour past in the real world because it was a minute in the dream world, I could even keep track of time and knew when the alarm was going to go off. I hope this answer question about lucid dream, capt.

It's surprisingly easy to wake yourself up from lucid dreaming. Anything that's too action packed or adrenaline inducing can wake you up, or certain activities that can trigger flight responses, etc.
Obviously you get better at not waking up, but in the beginning, you have to start out with very mundane things in order to stay lucid dreaming.

4:29 I like how he was making barely audible popping sounds while pushing the buttons
5:32 Loud, static-y sound warning! I wasn't even listening at the volume where your headphones ask "do you really want to listen this loudly?", and it still hurt.
6:21 Ancient debris looks actually fitting as a tree log.
6:40 I've never had a lucid dream, and one of my doctors said it's not legit. I see a lot of people talking about it though, still, more on the internet than in real life. So, I don't know what to believe. The internet is not a very reliable source of information, but doctors can be wrong too, sometimes.
9:13 "So now you're stuck in there-"
9:23 Jord GT parkour room - I wonder what's up with that car, Jordan hasn't made any vlogs about it in the past few years
9:44 His excitement sounded pretty cute, not very intense, but genuine
I like this dream talk, it's interesting. A fact that I feel like isn't very well-known, is that people with depression are more likely to remember their dreams (I was taught that at university, haven't seen much about it on the internet).
So, there is an advantage to being depressed, even if it's a small one. (It being an advantage is a matter of opinion, some would probably rather not remember their dreams. But if you did, you could probably use it as an inspiration to create and write down more unusual stories, or notice patterns appearing in your dreams and link them to things bothering you in your waking life. Like, if you often argue with a certain person in your dreams, or run from them, there is probably some tension that you feel towards them, but you may not realize that normally).
15:39 That looks kind of creepy from this angle

I can lucid dream and in my experience it's much more difficult to control than you'd think. It's not like you can just make anything happen. For me I realize I'm dreaming and then become conscious in the dream. It feels real but I can't do certain things, like when I try to fly I just float for a sec and then fall back down. So usually when I realize I'm dreaming I just choose to eat some junk food since the experience feels real but the calories aren't, or the obvious sex stuff.

I’m not sure I understand what lucid dreams are… Because sometimes in the dream, I realize I’m dreaming, but I don’t treat it as such (I don’t know why). Obviously I remember at least some of those dreams otherwise I wouldn’t know that I knew. From what I thought (put together from other peoples experiences), lucid dreams were basically like high-definition imagining plus dreaming, If that makes any sense? I mean it’s an actual dream, but you can actually think for yourself and do things that you yourself decide to do?

Okay every time you mention lucid dreaming I mean to comment and then forget so I do it now so I don't forget.
I used to have a philosophy class that gave us an optional assignment to try and learn lucid dreaming when we went over dreams as a topic.
Let me start with the best way to learn lucid dreaming.
Like you said an important part is running a dream journal. But its important to know why and not everyone needs it.
A dream journal will have you manifest memories of your dreams more reliably. That way you learn your own dream patterns which will make you realize more often that you are in fact dreaming and not awake. Like you start to recognize the differences more easily. And here comes the first big annoying thing when learning lucid dreaming:
Your brain doesn't want you to be aware of dreaming. So you will wake up. A lot. It will take you probably days if not weeks of waking up in the middle of the night to learn lucid dreaming.
Eventually you get to a point where you become aware of most of your dreams without having to wake up. At this point you can start working on the actual lucidity. The best way to work on it is trying to project your dream to a place you know. This can be achieved with 10 minute meditation before going to sleep in which you think of the place (like your house / living room). I was writing short stories at the time and would spend 30 minutes writing before bed which would usually result in me ending up in central points of the story. This really helped me personally and cut the time needed to learn this step in half. For the next couple days to weeks you will now learn how to control stuff and its a lot of nothing happening and not being able to escape the confines of your originally projected place. Like if you choose your house you mind find yourself not being able to leave your house or only being able to leave into a void.
Now at last to explain why lucid dreaming might not be the holy grail you think it is. First of all which is gonna be hard to believe it starts being really mundane. Like see it this way: Reading or watching a mediocre series that someone else wrote is gonna be more enjoyable entertainment wise than a 10/10 story you wrote yourself and know all the twists and revelations of.
It is very rare that you have a mix of lucid and normal dreaming where you can control little things while still being able to have a story unfold in front of yourself. It's either no or full control.
The next problem is that lucid dreaming is actively stopping your brain from achieving what sleep is for to begin with. As you can imagine with your brain being way more active your brain doesn't actually rest while you are asleep and it can end up in you waking up way more exhausted than when you went to bed night after night.
And at the end here is the most annoying thing: Once you have learned it you can start to lucid dream accidentally. And it will take time to forget how to do it or for your dreams to develop new patterns that stop you from realizing you are dreaming. And yes most people have to actually get to a point 0 where they don't know how to lucid dream anymore to reliably have proper sleep. There is some exceptions but it is rare. And now if you want to lucid dream you have to repeat all those days and weeks of work again of writing a journal and meditating before sleep to be able to do it again.
Also end note cause I didn't know where else to fit it. Yes most people who lucid dream can pretty much wake up when they want during their REM or dream phase.

I actually remember a lot of my dreams, some I’ve even shared with other people (just from my pov). The annoying part is how badly I get déjà vu, feels like I’ll live the same day a million times and it drives me mad. Idk it’s all too weird to try and figure out myself so I just roll with it

Most people believe that lucid dreaming is about controlling the dream. This is not true. Lucid dreaming is just the realization that you are dreaming in the dream. It can result in having control of the dream but it is actually just exploring it. Taking the role of a person at a performance instead of an actor in it. You can walk around and vividly explore, rewind and even tweak the experience. I guess it is more like being a director than an actor or observer. When I first started lucid dreaming, I had little to no control. With practice, I found I had all control. With more practice, I found that I could let the dream take its course and nudge it if it went in a direction I did not like. Now I find that I can let it fly, be any person, just observe or change anything I want. From the smallest detail to completely scrapping it for a whole new dream. This does come with a small caveat. Insomnia. If you are never happy with the course a dream takes, you change it, change it again and eventually, wake. At this point you won't be satisfied with any direction the dream takes and try to control it. My advice: Let your dreams be. If you have a bad dream, you had a bad dream. If you had a good dream, enjoy it. I have lost the ability to enjoy sleep and often just don't sleep much. Don't let yourself go there. Deal with the bad, cherish the good and tolerate the rest.

Speaking of lucid dreaming I learned how to, so heres some tips:
    1. Look for consistency. Something as simple as counting how many fingers you have can tell you if you're dreaming. In a dream, however, having 7 or even 15 fingers on 1 hand seems normal, so count twice. This also works with checking a clock twice or doing anything that should be consistent twice. How do you control yourself enough to do it in a dream? Make a habit of doing it in real life. Soon enough you'll do it in your dream and realize you're dreaming
    2. Once you're in, you'll realize you're asleep, and try taking control of your dream body. Doing this will start to give you consciousness to control your dream body, but will also start to wake you up. Do not panic. It's not scary, but if you want to keep dreaming, calm yourself as much as you can and *do not* think about sleeping. Whatever you do, do not think about the fact that you're sleeping or you'll wake up extremely quickly
Oddly enough, spinning in circles while looking down also helps you regain a grip on your reality. It may be because you get dizzy so your mind isn't focused on gaining consciousness. Longest I've held it together for was only around 2 minutes
    3. The more you do this, the more your mind will start to recognize that you should always have the same amount of fingers. Overdoing it in the dream land will make it harder so make sure to try/use various methods. I messed it up and lost my finger counting habit so I can't lucid dream until I redevelop the habit
I will say, In the dream I was unable to control anything supernatural, such as give myself super powers or chose what I dreamt about, though I was able to control myself as much as physically normal
    4. Ready to wake up? If you're having a nightmare, they tend to become far less scary once you realize they're a dream, or due to unconscious inconsistency may completely change to a "normal" dream entirely. Lets say you don't like the dream or want to wake up for some reason. Simple think about how you're dreaming and think that you want to wake up. Saying "Wake up" or "I need to get up" or anything along those lines outload will help you wake up almost instantly
A few things to add. While lucid dreaming increases how often you have dreams, it does not give you a 100% chance. You will still need to turn to other methods to figure out how to dream more often. On top of that, it is still a dream, and your mind will try to blank out parts due to them being fictitious so your mind deems them unnecessary.
One last thing, if you see the large, masked owl, do not approach him

I lucid dream somtimes, it's not quite as controlled as one would think. You realize your asleep and then generally put the dream in whatever direction you desire. Nothing really fancy though as if you do try to think of anything complex or do anything too specific that requires more "brain power" it will trigger you to wake up.
It's not easy to describe though as it's not the same as what you would expect in some ways but exactly what you expect in other ways. Usually for me it's like somthing chasing me or some disaster is happening, Usually somthing bad and then theres somthing that is just so impossible my brain goes oh impossible things? Must be a dream! Then Usually I fly and once I'm flying it's like yup definitely a dream so I just go destroy whatever bad things happening or completely change scene to somthing more enjoyable. The less complex the longer they seem to last, if you try to do more and more interesting things you have a higher chance of waking up.
Theres also different levels of control, somtimes you know your dreaming but can't change anything, other times you can control everything. I tried to watch videos to learned how to do it, didn't work but eventually it just happened. The idea is to plant a trigger in your mind and dreams, somthing that triggers your brain to go... uhhh this isn't right? Once that happens your in.

Don’t know if anyone has mentioned it, but I have lucid dreamed many times before though I seem to have lost the ability for it in recent years. You can chose when to wake up but there is no clock or time system in your dream that is accurate enough for the real world. It is amazing as all hell but I was never creative with it. I would have a nightmare, learn that it was a dream, and then take full control over it and make myself unkillable.

Lucid dreams are still dreams. The same stuff affect your dream. Waking up from a lucid dream is done by just dying in that dream just like any other. Actually staying in a lucid dream is harder. Excitement wakes you up from a lucid dream and it's really annoying. Tip for having lucid dreams: 1- dream journal so that you can grasp what dreams feel like 2- looking at your hand during the day to the extent that it becomes subconsciously. The reason for that is that when you look at your hand in a dream, its always weird. For me usually my fingers are twisted or i have more or less fingers than i really do. Ow and another thing, don't look at any texts while you're in a lucid dream. It's not fun ...

    Right, right behind
That's a nice life you have, shame it's gotta end at this time, time, time
    Time, time, time, time
Blows up, then your health bar drops, you could use a 1-up, get inside don't be tardy
So now you're stuck in there, half a heart is left but don't die, die, die
    Die, die, die, die

Dig up diamonds, and craft those diamonds and make some armor
Get it baby, go and forge that like you so, MLG pro
The sword's made of diamonds, so come at me bro
Training in your room under the torch light
Hone that form to get you ready for the big fight
Every single day and the whole night,
    Creeper's out prowlin' - alright
Look at me, look at you
Take my revenge that's what I'm gonna do
I'm a warrior baby, what else is new
And my blade's gonna tear through you
    Bring it
'Cause baby tonight, the creeper's trying to steal all our stuff again
Yeah baby tonight, grab your sword, armor and gold, take your revenge
So fight, fight like it's the last, last night of your life, life, show them your bite
'Cause baby tonight, the creeper's trying to steal all our stuff again

I only ever have lucid dreams. I basically have an rpg in my head all the time I love it. And I don’t know what a nightmare is (personally, like what it ‘feels’ like to have a nightmare.) I control everything always. 😊 On the downside I can’t empathize with people that do have nightmares so I can’t help my friends sometimes which does make me sad.
Edit: The best way I can describe it is I basically daydream until I wake up.
