    I know that some of these effects aren't EXACTLY what's in the anime, but the effects weren't consistent in the show, either, and this is my interpretation of them as best I can :)

      The thing they need to make to balance this cards is a field spell that has the effect that:
      All Divine Beast Monsters are unaffected by card effects.....
      and As long as a divine beast
      monster is in the field this field spell cannot be targeted and it needs to be destroyed twice.....
      then the moment this card is sent to the graveyard destroy 1 card on the field.....

    I remember one detail about Obelisk's Raigeki-like eff in the anime that made it insanely dangerous, and they even stayed by consistent with it by showing it's effect semi-competitively in Dark Side of Dimensions.
    In the show and movie, it didn't just blow away all of your opponent's monsters, it "inflicts" 4000 points of battle damage onto all monsters your opponent controlled, while also destroying them in battle, and THEN inflicted 4000 additional life points of effect(?) damage to your opponent. It's basically a more convoluted way of saying that Obelisk attacks and instantly destroys everything on the opponent's board after damage calculation, while also being invincible in battle, and also preventing you from taking battle damage.
    Add on to the fact that this is a Quick Effect, and that has to be one of the most busted field clearing effects/OTK enablers I've ever seen on a card.

      What the effect was stated to do, in the manga the anime doesn't actually bother expositing it iirc, is that obelisk destroys all opponents monsters by card effect and if there are any left he goes up to infinite attack and attacks all remaining monsters, no combat damage is dealt and obelisk is immune to battle destruction during those battles, finally if your opponent then doesn't control any monsters he inflicts 4k effect damage to your opponent.
      Also if applicable his attack then resets to what it was. Considering that the anime had a 4k starting life total, the effect is just a complicated way to write: sac 2 monsters to win the game.

    • @kevinbell5674
      @kevinbell5674 7 месяцев назад

      That first one about it inflicting 4000 battle damage for each monster destroyed was added in for DSOD because it upped the LP total from 4000 to 8000. Obelisk originally only had the part where it inflicts 4000 damage after all monsters are destroyed because that was all it needed for it to be an insta win.

    obelisk can tribute two other monsters to either destroy all monsters on the field and 4k damage to the opponent, or gain infinite attack for one turn.
    slifer is pretty similar to real life, except monsters summoned in defense mode lose 2k defense and will be destroyed if zero. also zero attack monsters will be destroyed on summon.

    Anime Gods don't have absolute Towers immunity. The protection they have is in 2 parts. They cannot be removed from the field by card effects and any other effect only lasts to the end of the turn.
    Immunity to removal means no popping, banishing, spinning, bouncing, sending, tributing, etc. This does raise the question of cards like Book of Moon or Fiendish Chain. If those do work, then it means that the Gods would lose their protection by being set/negated. It was said in the anime that Brain Control would not work on a God card so I'd argue no booking or negating is allowed either.
    Other effects lasting to the end of the turn does mean the Gods can be stalled or you can try to scratch them down before battling them, as was done a few times in the anime. It was also why Monster Reborn only lasted till the endphase.
    While the Gods are immune, their effects & attacks can be negated. Slifer's lightning bolts was deflected or negated a few times and Obelisk's attack was also negated by Kuriboh of all things. You can also probably find weird exceptions to the rule of some random episode to when the Gods weren't immune to effects.

    • @Zetact_
      @Zetact_ 7 месяцев назад +9

      One explicit example of them not being immune is in the Ishizu duel how Blast Held by a Tribute would work on Obelisk, but by the anime's logic it's that the actual target was Zolga and that the effect being from "inside" Obelisk might work?
      There's also, like, the card that beats Ra and banishes it with the implication being it would stay banished (Marik loses on the same turn so we don't know if Ra would return but by most info it seems that was likely) being a normal Spell and not an Egyptian God card.

    • @alex_zetsu
      @alex_zetsu 7 месяцев назад +4

      Oh yeah I totally forgot their protection didn't stop attack negations or attack modifications. They only had protection from being removed from their owner's side of the field. A Book of Moon turns them into any other effectless facedown, ironically the one situation where TCG Obelisk is better than its anime version.

In the manga, Yugi uses a spell card that adds Dark Magician Girl's ATK to Dark Magician, and he manages to just overpower Ra's current ATK with that. The anime decided to do it with a made up on the spot spell card that let Yugi attack with his whole deck or something.

    Here's my take on "retraining" the God cards to give them more of their anime effects/protection, while still keeping them somewhat realistic:
    Retrained Osiris:
    (This card's name is always treated as "Slifer the Sky Dragon".)
    Requires 3 Tributes to Normal Summon (cannot be Normal Set). This card's Summon cannot be negated. When Summoned, cards and effects cannot be activated. Your opponent cannot Tribute this face-up card on the field, and it is unaffected by your opponent's Spell/Trap effects and by activated effects from any monster, except for those whose original Level/Rank is equal to or higher than this card's current Level. Once per turn, during the End Phase, if this card was Special Summoned: Send it to the GY. Gains 1000 ATK/DEF for each card in your hand. If a monster(s) is Summoned to your opponent's field, that monster(s) looses 2000 ATK or DEF respective to its position, then if its ATK or DEF has been reduced to 0 as a result, or if its respective ATK or DEF was already 0, destroy it.
    Retrained Obelisk:
    (This card's name is always treated as "Obelisk the Tormentor".)
Once per turn, you can Tribute 2 other monsters; destroy all monsters your opponent controls with ATK less than this card's and inflict 4000 damage to your opponent. You cannot conduct your Battle Phase the turn you activate this effect, also for the rest of the turn after this effect resolves, your opponent takes no damage.
    Retrained Ra:
    (This card's name is always treated as "The Winged Dragon of Ra".)
    Requires 3 Tributes to Normal Summon (cannot be Normal Set). This card's Summon cannot be negated. When Summoned, cards and effects cannot be activated. Your opponent cannot Tribute this face-up card on the field, and it is unaffected by your opponent's Spell/Trap effects and by activated effects from any monster, except for those whose original Level/Rank is higher than this card's current Level. This card's ATK/DEF become the combined ATK/DEF of the monsters Tributed for its Summon. You can pay any amount of LP in increments of 100; this card gains ATK/DEF equal to the amount of LP paid. When Special Summoned this card gains these effects:
    •Unaffected by other cards' effects and cannot be destroyed by battle, you take no battle damage from battles involving this card, also once per turn, during the End Phase: Send it to the GY.
    •(Quick Effect) Once per turn you can pay 1000 LP to send all monsters your opponent controls to the GY (cards and effects cannot be activated in response to this effect's activation).

    Honestly, if Slifer just had proper support for consistency it would be a really good rogue strategy. Even without protection, assuming you have no backrow or anything at all, the floodgate is strong enough to stop anything that needs a normal summon or relies on link 1/2.
    I like playing Arcana Knight + Slifer on Master Duel and when I get that turn 1 slifer it immediately bricks the opponent.

  • @ViroVeteruscy
    @ViroVeteruscy 7 месяцев назад +2

    Yeah, there could be more universal support cards that are also hard to remove while the God cards are in play, kinda like Mound of the Bound Creator but better. These would help give the Gods their anime/manga effects. Can have like Continuous cards that each have effects for all 3 Gods so that you don't just draw one, but you don't have the correct God for it.
    Example: Well of the Divine Source, Continuous Spell, Effect: Uneffected by card effects while you control a DIVINE monster. While you control any of these monsters, apply these effects in addition to their effects.
    Slifer - Monsters your opponent controls summoned in defense position lose 2000 DEF, then if their DEF is reduced to 0, destroy it.
    Obelisk - This card can declare an attack the same turn it tributes monsters as a cost for its effect. This card can inflict piercing damage.
    Ra - When this card is Normal Summoned, this card gains ATK/DEF equal to the original ATK/DEF of monsters tributed for its summon. If "Ancient Chant" was banished from your GY this turn, increase your LP equal the original ATK/DEF of monsters tributed for this card's Tribute Summon.
    Would definitely, need more reliable card searching and/or drawing ability like Fallen Paradise or something were you reveal a God card and then draw 1 (or 2) card(s). Can only use it once per god, but all of Ra's forms count as 1 Ra so that it can't be spammed with just Ra. So yes draw 3 (to 6) cards max per turn with it if possible.

    The best version of any of the god cards is probably from the video game "Reshef of Destruction", Ra's phoenix mode.
    It's got the following effects:
    Once per duel, if this card is send to the graveyard, special summon it as The Winged Dragon of Ra (Battle Mode)
    Unaffected by your opponents card effects except for those that only modify attack and defense.
    Cannot be targeted by your Opponent.
    Effects or their activations cannot be negated.
    You can pay 1000 Life Points to destroy your Opponents monsters, regardless of whether they can be destroyed by card effects or not. You cannot attack with this card the turn this effect is activated.
    Which in itself doesn't seem too op, until you read Battle Mode:
    Unaffected by your opponents card effects except for those that only modify attack and defense.
    Cannot be targeted by your Opponent.
    Effects or their activations cannot be negated.
    You can pay all but 1 life point, deal damage to your opponent equal to the life points paid. You cannot attack with this card the turn this effect is activated.
    Literally any life point advantage is an instant win, with a card that can be summoned upon being discarded.

(E.g. Final Destiny (destroys all cards on the field and in both players hands) will just not work on god cards in hand or on the field.
      The only things stopping god cards are Amazon Archers (If a card attacks, lower its status by 1 level (500 ATK/DEF) and negate the attack and Swords of Revealing Light (Your opponent cannot declare an attack for 3 turns). Although Umi can bring down Ra's attack to 2800...
      Targeting doesn't really exist either, since all targeting effects just always target the highest attack/defense card unless it's a god card.
      So I tried to translate it a bit into the TCG-format.
      Printed, the effects would be:
      "A creature that can wipe out all enemy monsters at 1000LP cost.
      It can be returned from the graveyard in the Battle Mode." (Phoenix)
      "A dragon that has the power to cut its LP to 1 and hit the

Slifer I would honestly add a destruction effect protecion. While Ra make it untargetable and undestructible, that could be a reference to their hierarchy, as for Ra's actual effects its tricky due they being already in other cards, but I would at least remove the SS restriction so you can pay LP with any summon and a quick effect to tribute itself to regain those LP , probably some sort of restriction would be needed otherwise it can dodge the few removals ir could affect him

    In terms of errataing the cards we have now, just give them the effect of "Unaffected by other cards' effects that do not mention [insert Egyptian God card's name] while face-up on the field". And for Ra specifically, give it the same Special Summoning restriction as the other two.
    On a separate note, wonder how things would look for the Egyptian Gods if they were printed with a modified version of their early video game effects/stats instead of trying to replicate the anime effects on a single card (talking like The Sacred Cards early). By default, all three of the God Cards had 4000 Atk and Def and were unaffected by other card effects. As for their individual effects, VG!Obelisk's effect is a Raigeki that also burned for 4000; VG!Slifer no longer has its floodgate effect, but gained 1500 Atk/Def for each card in your hand instead of 1000; VG!Ra's effect is paying all but 1 LP, then burning your opponent for the amount of LP paid.

    The hierarchy was never an anime effect, it was only really a thing in Yugioh R manga. The lack of the unnecessary hierarchy mechanic in the anime is used in multiple scenes INCLUDING the final duel of the series. If you really wanted that effect then easy, "Unaffected by the effects of all monsters, except DIVINE monsters whose level is greater than or equal to this card's current level" and then just make Ra a higher level.
    Obelisk's infinite ATK I would just make it, "If this card battles a monster, increase this monster's ATK by the ATK/DEF of the attack target, during damage calculation only. This turn, if this monster inflicts battle damage to your opponent, you win the duel." It's easier to mechanically realize than making it have infinite ATK, just saying it will always win in battle and if it successfully deals damage it deals infinite damage by making you win.

    So, I think I more or less understand the effects of the God cards, so I will try to interpet them one by one
    Obelisk the Tormentor
    Requires 3 Tributes to Normal Summon (cannot be Normal Set). This card's Normal or Special Summon cannot be negated. When Normal Summoned, cards and effects cannot be activated. During the End Phase, if this card was Special Summoned: Send it to the GY. Cannot be targeted or destroyed by your opponent's card effects. Once per turn: You can Tribute 2 other monsters you control; destroy all monsters your opponent controls, then, if your opponent controls no monsters, inflict 4000 damage to your opponent. For the rest of this turn after resolving this effect, at the beginning of the Damage Step, when it attacks a monster: Your opponent must send that monster to the GY

      Slifer the Sky Dragon
      Requires 3 Tributes to Normal Summon (cannot be Normal Set). This card's Normal or Special Summon cannot be negated. When Normal Summoned, cards and effects cannot be activated. During the End Phase, if this card was Special Summoned: Send it to the GY. Cannot be targeted or destroyed by your opponent's card effects. This card gains 1000 ATK for each card in your hand. When your opponent Summons a monster: Activate 1 of these effects, depending on its battle position:
      ● Attack Position: That monster loses 2000 ATK. If it becomes 0, destroy it
      ● Defense Position: That monster loses 2000 DEF. If it becomes 0, destroy it

      The Winged Dragon of Ra
      Cannot be Special Summoned from the hand. Requires 3 Tributes to Normal Summon (cannot be Normal Set). This card's Normal or Special Summon cannot be negated. When Normal or Special Summoned, other cards and effects cannot be activated. During the End Phase, if this card was Special Summoned: Send it to the GY. Unaffected by your opponent's card effects. If this card was Special Summoned from the GY: You can pay 1000 LP; send 1 monster your opponent controls to the GY. Neither player can activate cards or effects in response to this effect's activation. You can pay LP so that you only have 1 left; this card gains LP equal to the amount of LP paid. You can Tribute monsters you control that have not declared an attack this turn; this card gains ATK equal to the Tributed monsters' ATK on the field. If this card is targeted by a card effect: You can make this card's ATK 0, and if you do, gain LP equal to the ATK lost by this effect

  • @cturtle4573
    @cturtle4573 7 месяцев назад

    I remember a few months ago trying to brainstorm more Face-Card support to try and better support the Egyptian Gods, since I felt that it was the most competent version of the deck. The main thing I'd like is a Hardened Armed Dragon style card to give the Gods protection. Here's what I came up with.
    Queen's Squire
    Link 1
    LIGHT/Warrior/Effect
    1 "Jack's Knight", "King's Knight", or "Queen's Knight"
    (This cards name is treated as "Queen's Knight" while on the field)
    If this card is link summoned, you cannot special summon from the extra deck for the rest of this turn, except LIGHT Warrior monsters. While you control this card, you can normal summon 1 "Jack's Knight", "King's Knight", or "Queen's Knight" in addition to your normal summon/set. You can only use this effect of "Queen's Squire" once per turn. A level 10 monster that is tribute summoned using this card as tribute is unaffected by your opponents cards and effects until your next turn.
    Arcana Divine Joker
    Link 3
    LIGHT/Warrior/Effect
    3 Warriors with different names, including a normal monster
    This card and monsters this card points too are unaffected by cards and effects that do not target. When a card or effect is activated that targets this face-up card on the field or a monster this card points to (Quick Effect): You can discard 1 card of the same type (Monster, Spell, or Trap); negate the activation. If this card is destroyed by battle, you can special summon 3 LIGHT warriors with different names from your graveyard, except Arcana Divine Joker. You can only use each effect of "Arcana Divine Joker" once per turn.

    One thing that would be cool, and a way to maybe give some effects, would be to have more small monsters, like they do with the baby dragon rulers or the squires for monarchs, that are based around the gods. I know some archetypes have monsters where if you tribute them for another in that archetype, it gains an extra effect. Having more monsters than ra's disciple, that actually help out the god cards instead of just providing tribute fodder, would be a great way to help out the gods, and maybe bring new life to the archetype. I personally would love like a few mini "sky dragons" that help slifer out, maybe help draw if you tribute them or something.

  • @RayAkuraGacha
    @RayAkuraGacha 4 месяца назад

    another cool effect of ra is:"(Quick effect) If you activate de-fusion, target it and change it's effect to this: Target one 'the winged dragon of ra' on the field and, ignoring it's effects, reduce it's attack to zero, if you do, the controller of 'the winged dragon of ra' gains life points equal to the attack lost.

    If we do get a big wave of extra support, best thing would be to make a Continuous Spell that brings the Divine Hierarchy into the game.
    3 Effect rule. Something happens on Activation. Second effect, likely the passive one, enables protections on your Gods. Third effect, some secondary active thing like, "Send 1 Divine-Beast monster from Deck to GY; send 1 monster on the field to the GY."

    Or do the middle ground that Tag Force (before Tag Force 5 I think) did by giving them protection, Ra could be Special Summoned and gains the Tribute ATK/DEF gain and even keeping Slifer's effect intact. Konami could have done that but NOPE! TOO STRONG!

    I firmly believe although it would still not be meta frequently obelisk would show up as an op going second option especially if you just spam it from hand with pendulums, then tribute 2 monsters to either nuke the board or attack any attack position monster to win the duel. So any deck that could spam out a bunch of little monsters without your normal summon or pendulum summon could use it like we use dark ruler no more and evenly matched today. It would also be funny if ra's spehere mode was just part of ras effect, then you could chant it back to your field after tributing 3 of your opponents omni negates, then attack directly with the attack of their tributed monsters. Definitely 2 viable otk strategies.

    I like the idea of the link upgrade thing - like they're link-1 who's requirements are their specifically named Egyptian god card. For Slifer, I like to imagine this version would affect Def points butperhaps a slightly higher threshold (say 2500) as summoning 2000+ atk/Def monsters is fairly easy now, but 2500 is more difficult but not impossible for majority of decks. Obelisk is kinda okay to just lift the "unable to attack" after it uses it's raigeki effect, maybe also give it multi-attack options? Ra is difficult bcuz of how much the manga/anime version could do - perhaps it gains atk equal to half the sum of all monsters in the gy (a psuedo-"gain atk of the tribute" effect) and then to replicate the pop effect just give it a simple OPT pop. If you want this link-Ra to have the multiple forms then just make them alternative Link-1's, similar to the variable Sky Striker kit. Idk I do like this as the potential to modernise the god cards, rather than main deck upgrades - since I'd want to run the OGs in my main deck if they were viable

  • @Xehnas
    @Xehnas 7 месяцев назад

    I think they just need a series of cards of cards that say something to the extent of "This card can be used as 3 tributes for a diving beast monster, and if it is, the divine beast summoned gains "This card is unaffected by other card effects and can only be tributed by its owner", and if its name is "The Winged Dragon of Ra" gains 4000 attack. Id also like to see extra effects maybe for running low to no extra deck. Something that demands you reveal it, and only have god slime or no extra deck at all. Like straight up give certain support unchainability for running low to no extra deck but dictate that you have to have not special summoned from the extra deck as well this turn to use any of it.

    I feel that the Gods would benefit most from having some Main Deck Monsters to really support
    them, similar to what the "Eyes of Blue" Monsters are meant to do for "Blue Eyes White Dragon".
    If we want to stay in Flavor, i´d say give each a Trio of Priests, (or Priestesses) that can easily be
    specialed onto the Field, and give each of them an Effect that lingers on the Field if they are tributed to summon "their" Godcard.

    given their procection of being uneffected by effects which make them leave the field + only effected by other effects temporarily. they abolutely would see play even if it was a rogue deck at minimum. they be towers which are powerful floodgates of otk machines. espectionly in modern yugioh where getting the monsters for it would be much easier. dragon rulers show that even base oblisk, a 3 tribute monster with a good form of potection and high atk is viable with powerful enough tribute engines.

    Shared Effect:
    Cannot be removed from the field by card effects except it's own or by a Divine Beast of a Higher Hierarchy. Cannot be negated. Cannot be Tributed by your Opponent. S/T Card Effects that affects this card only last until the End Phase of the turn it was affected (meaning any non-removal effects that affect them only last 1 turn and they become unaffected by it unless an another copy of it gets activated next turn). If this card is Special Summoned, the controller of this card must send it to the GY at the End Phase of the turn it was Special Sunmoned.
    Even just putting the Shared Effect on the God Cards would have made them great cards already.

  • @zahylon5993

    The only way I can imagine to fit SO MANY EFFECTS on a somewhat viable monster, is having said boss monster be a kind of "Unaffected by monst effects lmao. Once per turn, during either players turn (quick effect) you can add an "Egyptian Servant" from SOMEWHERE to your hand. And then this support archetype goes like "during either players turn, if you control certain boss monster, you can discard this card from your hand to activate an effect" .
    So you get some small monsters whose purpose is to summon a big boss, and then give you effects once the boss is out.

    One thing I always thought about was how the characters say “it’s not a monster, it’s a God” And I think the game should reflect that: Divine-beast shouldn’t be treated as Monsters but Gods. A 4th card type alongside monster spell and trap. A simple change but then cards that destroy ‘monsters’ don’t work as per rules of the game which I think is more in line with the anime God card

      @@mitsunekolucky671 it's from the manga Yugi had a card that allows to sacrifices opponents monsters to which marik says that he can't sacrifice Ra. But as sacrifice gods in general is clearly possible as kaiba did it with obelisk does is mean that only your opponent can't tribute your God.
      Especially as the card was ultimately used on Yugi's own obelisk anyway showing it's also not the effect protection the gods have.
      And with the gods being these end all be all cards while lava golem the original kaiju being around does it really only make sense that they would be immune to it.

    3:11 Obelisk's infinite ATK effect only happens when it tributes Slifer and Ra specifically, to my knowledge.
    3:54 Obelisk can't attack in the same turn because the Raigeki effect os treated as an attack. The idea is that it's attacking every monster your opponent controls, and sometimes your opponent as well, which is why in games like The Sacred Cards Obelisk additionally burns the opponent for 4000 LP.
